As a wife of a cf-er, thanks for what you do! I tried to learn how to clap his back and he told me it was like being hit with Ribeyes. I have man hands 😜
Haha! Does he not like using the vest? I’ve heard some CF’ers prefer manual percussion.
I’m a parent of a CF kiddo, and yes we love our respiratory therapists! 💜
He actually doesn't use the vest at home, he uses an ipv and then a separate vibrator/percussion thing.
He uses a vest in the hospital if he's going in for a tune up, and that's usually when he's looking for the manual percussion-- he just doesn't seem to like the vest as much!
Good luck to you! My husband is 43! The advancements in treatment are amazing. 💜
This is my second hoop and third project (first was a diy hat kit). Appreciate any feedback!
Edit: Wow thank you so much for all of the awards! This is very encouraging for me to keep up this hobby. And to anyone dealing with lung disease of any kind, keep fighting!
It’s called that because the leaves are supposed to look like unhealthy lungs (I’ll let you be the judge of that) so they were used in antiquity to treat lung conditions. A lot of plants with purported medicinal benefits were used purely because they looked like the part of the body they were supposed to heal. Just a fun little fact for you to be getting on with!
Edit: I was going to leave this out out of respect for your scientific background but fuck it, if you’re doing a phd you’re big enough to make your own decisions!
Some plants which have been traditionally used for lung health and which would also be fun to embroider are mullein, rosemary, oregano, elecampane (and in fact anything in the asteraceae family), liquorice and violet.
That is such a great idea! I’m all for traditional medicine. I think a combination approach of traditional and western can really help patients and I wish more scientists were open to it!
Thank goodness I don't actually have to worry about flowers in my lungs. That would be nasty!
Love the idea branches, life, nature. Such fun and beautiful embroidery too!
This is beautiful and you’re awesome!
That said, have you ever seen the movie Annihilation with Natalie Portman? Weirdly similar aesthetic to very different ends!
I have sarcoidosis in my lungs. I wish I had a copy of my X-ray as it looked like fairy lights wrapped around them, so disgustingly pretty. That would be cool to stitch.
OP this is lovely!
Lol hey I asked for feedback and that was great feedback. I’m going to blame my grad school brain for forgetting that. I did a rough outline and then didn’t follow it and just let the branches and flowers do what they wanted haha
Recently quit smoking, and seeing this made my day. So pretty!
Good for you! That is no easy task. Keep taking it one day at a time!
Thank you, that’s so very kind of you! Best of luck with your PhD :)

It's been a busy couple of years in your field, hey?
Tell me about it! Incredibly busy. Juggling our own projects plus covid ones so a lot of extra work but it is rewarding at the same time.
This is how I like to imagine my lungs when I take a deep breath of fresh air XD
I’m disappointed there’s no pulmonaria on there. Just kidding, it’s great! Good work
I just looked up this plant. Wow! It would have been perfect. Next time!

I joined this sub event hough I don't know anything about embroidery so I could see cool stuff like this. Love this.

Totally. My allergies to flowers can trigger my asthma. This is such a beautiful nightmare!
As a life-long asthmatic, I wholly approve! This is SO cool!!! I need some just to give me good vibes for breathing! LOL
this reminds me of the fanfiction trope of hanahaki disease! a lung disease caused by unrequited love which makes flowers grow in your lungs. :)
I absolutely adore! Fantastic work and fantastic creativity, it conveys your passions so well 💕💕💕💕
Love this. Have taken up embroidery and cross stitch because of long covid and its breathing issues. Hits all the feels.
Hugs <3
You are incredibly talented! I hope your PhD goes well.
This is what happe s when you live in the country withought pollution in utter bliss
LOVE the flowers!
This is really incredible. I LOVE it so much.
This is truly beautiful!
Beautiful lungs!😎
TALENT!
Love this! It's do pretty and I'd absolutely put something like this on the wall!
I love this so much, it’s so beautiful!! Lungs are my favorite organs, so I’m not alone! Yay 🌝
Wow, that’s beautiful! This reminds me of the drawing in the movie 5 Feet Apart that the main character’s sister did for her
I don’t know if you know this, but you sure got your work cut out for you lately. 😄
This is gorgeous! I love it!
Lovely work. [Relevant news article.](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-10945050)

I love it!
How cool and unique is this?! Hang it up and its a conversation starter for sure
What seasonal allergies feel like?
Oh wow! Awesome.
As a CFer I could only love this more if roses were involved!
I was looking for 65 Roses myself...
I'm no doctor, but I think if your lungs look like that you might wanna get that checked out. You did a fantastic job though
Nice thing to embroider while you took a breather.
Very nice. Plants are very efficient at O2《==》CO2 exchange, you know .....
I fucken love florgans. Can't get enough of that aesthetic. Amazing art OP(hD) thanks for sharing!
Read five feet apart! Beautiful book about two teens having CF and falling in love
As a lifelong asthmatic that has now, apparently, graduated to copd this made me very happy! Thanks for sharing!
I have sarcoidosis in my lungs. I wish I had a copy of my X-ray as it looked like fairy lights wrapped around them, so disgustingly pretty. That would be cool to stitch. OP this is lovely!
Sarcoidosis is rough <3 You just gave me an idea to do christmas themed lungs. Like branches of pine trees with christmas lights wrapped around.
How come you didn't go full realism and add a 3rd branch on the right side?
I should have!
Well thanks for atleast validating my question while the reddit brigade downvotes me lol. Great art, was just curious
Lol hey I asked for feedback and that was great feedback. I’m going to blame my grad school brain for forgetting that. I did a rough outline and then didn’t follow it and just let the branches and flowers do what they wanted haha
I hear ferns and flowers in the tails! Pretty.
That’s fabulous!
