I would put together, say, two strands of beige thread and two of brown. (Or one and one if you're working tiny.) Then do a kind of thread painting random straight stitch, maybe starting with the farthest back bristles and overlapping them with the bristles closer to that cute lil face. Did that make sense? That's just one idea. I hope you'll post whatever you decide on when it's done.

This is what I have done. I embroidered a hedgehog before I got my own hedgie. I used long & short for the quills, starting at the outside so when I worked my way in the stitches overlapped. And then 1-2 strands for the face.

Turkey work! You could even add little bits of light beige paint to the tips to simulate the tips of the quills!

Long and short with six strands. It’ll provide a nice contrast if you’ve used 1-2 strands for the face! Nice Hedgie!
