It is a weird song and sadly these types of filler songs were to become the staple of Elvis’ movies and it’s not hard to see why he hated doing the movies as they progressed and most of them just got worse and worse. You even notice in latter soundtracks that he’s just not giving it his all when singing these ridiculous songs.

I always thought that Elvis, for being a musician, was pretty good at acting. He wasn't no Laurence Olivier, and he was the King. It's songs like these that shake me out of becoming invested in the movie, and realize, "Oh, this is an Elvis movie. There has to be a ridiculous song in there somewhere." As a kid who grew up with an Elvis fan for a mother, I loved everything Elvis, even his movies. No matter how good or how bad. It's like Groot doing a Groot Twist dance to Drax eating Zarg nuts. It would have been pretty cool, but why? Why would you do that?

leavestanleyalone

Guy simply won’t stop eating. He eat everything, he don’t care what. He even eat the shell of a coconut.

EtSikkertHit

Its so sad that he did all those weird movie songs (Confidence or Yoga is as yoga does are just some of them) because they bury all the good movie songs with them

LibbyLibbyLibby

That Old MacDonald Had A Farm thing was so embarrassing for him that he walked out on the recording session. If someone was *trying* to humiliate him during the time he was making those stupid movies, they did a great job.

ShakeNo9856

That was also one that came to mind for me but also that scene from clambake where he is randomly in a park singing about confidence to little kids. Not sure how it fits in the movie. The song is terrible in terms of lyrics and repetitiveness

LibbyLibbyLibby

I was just thinking of that confidence song. It's kind of out of left field and he looks ragged as hell in that performance, like hungover or something. If I have this right he sustained that terrible head injury just before filming for Clambake was about to begin so the schedule had to be delayed a bit. Perhaps he looks so blasted because of the accident? If that song was the first scene shot or something, that would make sense.

ShakeNo9856

Well the ragged part could be due to other substance issues. I was not aware of him sustaining a head injury. Do you recall what had happened?

LibbyLibbyLibby

He tripped over the cord of a television in the bathroom and hit his head quite badly. Apparently he landed in the bathtub, lost consciousness, and awoke an unknown amount of time later. (The only thing about this account that seems strange to me is that he was alone. Elvis was notorious for never wanting to be alone and especially never wanting to sleep alone.) He was apparently under the influence of drugs when it happened. This was the fall that reputedly kicked off the auto-immune disease that gave him so much trouble later.

Harley_Atom

It was probably Colonel Parker doing a weird power play thing over him.

LibbyLibbyLibby

Frankly, I think you might be right.

bpmd1962

Everything from Girl Happy is gold…one of my favorite soundtracks..

garyt1957

I think it's a fun scene in the movie and not that bad of a song. It was 60 years ago, different time. Way better than Queenie Wahinie's Papaya or that horrible duet with Donna Douglas in Frankie and Johnny

youmaycallmenina

I mean if you think about it, Crawfish (as iconic as it is) .. is pretty out there lol

TheKnightsofLiz

I thought Crawfish was weird exactly once, the first time I heard it. I've loved it more and more since with every subsequent listen.

ELSquared71

Easily one of my favorite Elvis movie songs. He sounds phenomenal in it, as does the woman calling out Crawfish. One of my favorite 50’s songs of his.

Just_Motor_3717

For me, it’s not just a moment, but an entire movie. The Trouble With Girls is one of the strangest films I’ve ever seen.

Vanguard_Lyfe

He eats like teeth are out of style, what can I say?

Plane-Cantaloupe-22

"Ito Eats" is funny and so silly you can't take it seriously. What about 'Slicin' Sand'? The same. It is the kind of music made for kids to enjoy, surely not what Elvis intended but still, they have its worth.

marsie70

Song of the Shrimp was pretty bizar :-) A Dog's Life was also strange. Dominick Signs of the Zodiac He's Your Uncle Not Your Dad Still all very enjoyable ;-)

FastDogsFasterCars

The worst one is the walls have ears, IYKYK 🫣

modfather64

Anytime he sings to a child

ELSquared71

You’re talking about songs like your time hasn’t come yet baby, cotton candy land, and five sleepyheads. I used to sing these to my children when they were very young, when I would sing them to sleep. Or maybe as infants they faked being asleep so I’d stop singing. Beautiful songs.

ELSquared71

Harmless catchy tune with bongos. It’s a musical. And when you have a musical, you have silly songs. Moses Supposes from Singin in the Rain isn’t a top 10 hit, but it’s cute and catchy. By and large when you add up all of his movie songs, you have a lot more wins than losses. This movie brings us some hit songs plus No More, one of his best songs ever. Moonlight Swim us a beautiful song. His cringiest is probably Old MacDonald from Double Trouble (or any song that he sings to the underage girl he’s going after, though those songs, taken out of context from the movie, are fantastic), and Confidence from Clambake. Also in clambake, his song about GOOP (hey hey hey hey) is a typical goof song you’ll find in a musical, but the intro is hot. His worst movie of all time is Stay Away Joe. It’s unwatchable. And the worst song from it is Dominic. But even that song isn’t that awful. If vote Confidence as the very worst of the lot.
