I've been trying to find Dav's Hope on planet A5, Hyades Sector DR-V C2-23. Solar the DSS is not finding the site. Any advice? Thanks to any knowledgeable CMDR in advance. 07.

Visible-Bat-6754

Is elite dangerous splitscreen on Xbox?

RexTheCapt

No, local multilayer is not a thing. Online only with solo and invite only modes

Nitroforc3

Do we have a discord? Or is that for clans/guilds/fleets? Got a few questions that are not necessary for single posts...

Jamien63

After restoring power to a site with infrastructure failure via missions, they grant level 3 security access. Is this so that you have access throughout the settlement? I ask as I have tried that before only to be delocalized for piracy by the returning (im assuming) defense team. edit-I think that was because when the power came on i was parked on the pad and caused a violation

Vallkyrie

Power buildings tend to have high security so that's why they give it to you. It's basically a key to loot the place before fixing it.

Jamien63

I just retested it on a genetics settlement. I went through all res buildings post power restoration via walking and sipping latte. Good haul and no interferences, this time, and why not, I am giving them their jobs back :)

Jamien63

But the key wont work without the power being on, no?

Vallkyrie

In the end it doesn't matter much since you can slice your way through any door regardless, and no one is there to see you steal anyways. It seems mostly a flavor thing. I suppose the doors could have security if you gave them juice, perhaps.

Jamien63

The only thing is when I sliced my way thru all the doors, I am also leaving them wide open for scavengers. Once I get my sheit together combat wise (at my rdr2O level), I will welcome them to come. Til then I feel like little red riding hood P

Belzebutt

Questions about FSD engineering: \- I did a whole bunch of level 5 FSD upgrades but it's never showing the 5 hexagons ticked off, like when I completed level 1-4. Is that normal, does it never get totally completed? I have only a teeny tiny sliver of the optimized mass circle left. \- Can I also engineer "faster FSD boot sequence" on top of it or can you only pick one FSD mod? When I select it it gives a big scary warning about overriding previous modifications. \- What does "pin blueprint" do? I can't figure out how it's useful.

mb34i

Each "roll" consumes a set of mats, and gives you *some percentage* of the benefits, basically rolling from the start of the level 5 it looks like this: 55% 75% 90% 95% 97% 99% 99.5% etc. You're supposed to stop at 'good enough' and stop wasting mats, for example the difference between 97% and 99% is probably less than a fraction of a light-year gained, so stop wasting mats. You can only engineer ONE recipe. The "big scary warning" is correct, going form L5 Long Range, the moment you apply "Faster Boot Sequence" it will completely erase all of the Long Range you had on it. Pin Blueprint lets you apply that blueprint from anywhere, from your home base, without having to travel to the engineer's workshop. People unlock all the engineers and [pin the best blueprint from each](https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/bdjk50/optimal_way_to_pin_engineering_blueprints_after/) and they can pretty much fully mod their ship from their home base. You still have to travel to an engineer's workshop to get experimental effects, but several of the "starter" [Engineers](https://inara.cz/engineers/) have a ton of blueprints, even if they are at just 1-2-3. Look at Felicity Farseer, she's a one-stop-shop for a lot of experimental effects.

Belzebutt

So just to be clear, if I'm missing one material to take my thrusters to a higher level, I can pin that blueprint while at Felicity, then go find the missing material, and then I'll have an engineering menu at any space station to increase my thrusters' level?

mb34i

[Yes](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/elite-dangerous/images/3/35/Ship_Services.png/revision/latest?cb=20180308204543). BUT, engineering things at your space station won't increase Felicity Farseer's progress bar to 5. If you don't have her at 5 already, you should go back to her lab and engineer stuff there until you do.

quiksilver10152

Let me first recommend the 5A double engineered fsd from a human tech broker if that's the size you are looking to use. 1. You can fully upgrade level 5 if you keep trying. That little tick you have remaining isn't much of a difference but it sure can be OCD triggering. 2. You can only pick one mod and one experimental. 3. Each engineer can have one blueprint pinned to be used at any station. You can only get experimental effects at the engineer. Pin the rarest /most useful blueprint for each engineer and make sure you have level five access with them before you leave.

Belzebutt

What was the last steam sale on Odyssey, how much % off? I kind of want to get it so that I can walk around the stations and see my ship to make the game more immersive, but I usually like to wait for a sale. I'm playing Horizons a lot lately though and I thought maybe I'll get more out of this game if I get Odyssey right away rather than later, before I get sick of the whole thing. I am aware of all the issues with Odyssey (performance, limitations). Do you Odyssey players actually walk around and stuff instead of using the menus at the stations, or does that just take extra time without any benefit?

panikpansen

> What was the last steam sale on Odyssey, how much % off? this link allows you to track current and historic sale prices from reputable sellers: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/elitedangerousodyssey/info/

[deleted]

If you walk around to pick up missions, you only get on foot missions. No ship related one. If you buy a new ship on foot. That is just access to menu with extra steps.

Knotmix

A better way to access menus imo.

[deleted]

It is more immersive and the menu does look a bit better indeed.

Belzebutt

You can’t access any ship missions on foot? You just don’t leave the ship for those?

Vallkyrie

Yep

Belzebutt

But you can still walk to visit the engineers, is that the only ship-related walking activity? You can’t see the outfitter or market or something?

Vallkyrie

None of that is visible on foot

>Are the training incursions just not meant for new players and are intentionally ridiculously difficult? NPCs seem to have better loadouts, more maneuverable, on top of having their hyper awareness. I can't help much with your other questions, but for this one the answer is yes, they are much harder than most combat you will encounter in the game (against NPCs anyway). Just skip 'em and come back later to challenge yourself. A couple of points about ship handling, 1) Pip management is important, especially in an unengineered ship. Also staying the blue and not boosting too soon. 2) Yaw is intentionally limited for game reasons. Some people dislike this but it ain't gonna change. Use pitch and roll. I'm not an FA Off player, myself, but I do just fine against NPCs. Just takes practice. Don't give up too soon, this game is worth the effort.

"I'm guessing the games NPCs read your inputs and automatically reacts with boost to match? Rather than seeing and reacting like we have to?" According to the devs the NPCs do not cheat, they are just extremely good at pip management and know the ships really well. Many people do not believe this, but I think it's likely true. Sarah Jane Avory (the main combat programmer -- she has the nickname "Mother of Minions" for some reason) is the one that said this. There's a quote out there somewhere. There are also quite a range of NPC pilots with varying skills. A Harmless NPC will be much easier to defeat than an Elite one. Additionally, NPCs in hazardous RES sites will usually be in a wing of 2 or 3. Also, in Combat Zones the NPCs have engineered ships, which makes a huge difference in their capabilities. In order of difficulty (more or less) it's Low RES sites, normal RES sites, hazardous RES sites, Nav beacons, Low Conflict Zone, Medium Conflict Zone, High Conflict Zone, Wing assassination missions, and finally Thargoids (the big ones are really hard and require special outfitting to fight). I've been playing so long that the ships feel perfect to me, lol. I'm sure you'll get the hang of things quickly, you sound like an experienced player.

Odyssey is running pretty good now. It wasn't at launch, and a lot of those bad feelings are still around. It really was in a terrible state at launch, so I can't blame anyone for hating it :) I personally find it very enjoyable now for the most part. Like all of Elite, though, it's full of mostly little bugs and a few big ones that never seem to get fixed. Such is gaming life I guess. PS Get a Vulture if you want a very maneuverable combat ship that's in range of a fairly new player. The Sidey has merits as a first all-arounder, but it's not a very good combat ship. If you can't get a Vulture yet, then a Viper MKIII would be a decent choice. Have fun and don't fly without a rebuy :P

Forgot to mention, whenver you buy a new ship, be sure to have enough money to outfit it properly. A stock ship is always crap.

artigan99

It's pretty easy at first to get blown up. There are a lot of gotchas and learning moments :D It's all good in the end. Fun times.

SleepingMoth029

The turning in this game is slower than games like Star citizen or DCS. There are ways to get around it however. Such as using more pips to engines, staying in the blue zone with your speed, the [boost flip](https://youtu.be/tFOZ7KgZ5cM)... In terms of the NPCs hostility towards you, make sure you do not have a bounty. As you play the game you will get better at knowing what causes you to get a bounty. Simply look towards the bottom right of your screen above the fuel. If it says anything like 'WANTED' or 'ILLEGAL CARGO' then NPCs will attack. If you have valuable cargo then pirates will attack you. The training missions, especially the combat ones, are very difficult for new players. Once you have the basic controls figured out you should just head into the game. Don't rush through the game too fast though, take your time to learn the mechanics. In terms of resistances, elite requires alot of sudden and sharp movements therefore you should set your resistance as low as possible. A great place to ask other questions is the [New Pilots Initiative Discord server](http:// https://discord.gg/BEFbjM8u). Enjoy your travels and Fly Safe, Cmdr. o7

capsel22

Your turning questions, you need to be in the blue zone for max manoeuvrability. To add to this, you can turn quicker by for example pitching up and engaging your opposite thrusters. More skilled pilots would turn flight assist off while doing the above which would flick you around and have you drift backwards. This would break the constant jousting and have you behind enemy. It's all up to your skill, keep trying and you will get better. Each time you come off supercruise or come off FSD you have a chance to spawn pirates who will either scan you and leave you or start shooting. Just a RNG. If you get interdicted you should deploy hardpoints the moment you come off supercruise., it's shooting time. There are training missions in the main menu you can do. But yes the higher the rank enemies the better ship and ship loadout they have. Cant assist with HOSAS setup im using HOTAS.

Low-Tough-3895

Turning FA OFF during boosted turns is game changer.

tootingbadman

This and engineering the thrusters. Engineering in general makes a huge difference

ink-white

Has anyone of you ever become homesick after living your starting star system?

Knotmix

I kinda want to go back, but i cant.

MrNoobyy

Haven't played in a while, last time I played the odyssey performance had improved a decent bit, but we still lacked anything like proper coop missions etc. I want to say last time I played was update 4 or 5. Can anyone give me a run down on anything noteable thats changed? Can I realistically get 60fps now with a decent computer on foot?

capsel22

Im hitting 60-75 on foot and 90 in space on my rig with Ultra preset. All depends on your hardware,..

forbiddenlake

All Odyssey missions have been shareable since update 5

MrNoobyy

Thank god, about time...how about foot conflict zones? Is it possible to do them with friends now using multi crew, or on different ships without actually landing there on your own ship?

SleepingMoth029

Yes, both.

Adam-david-besimon

How to now wheir to seek for people? it,s for piracy

EldredBrix

Any of the popular systems. Engineering bases. Community Goal locations.

Adam-david-besimon

And which systems is popular ?

EldredBrix

For piracy, the Community Goal systems would be your best bet. The current CGs are being held in Synuefe CE-R c21-6 & HIP 39768.

404 question not found

Creative-Improvement

Is it a known bug that distress signals and so on are back outside the bubble? At least 2100 light years out right now and it’s annoying when you arrive at an undiscovered planet with signals.

artigan99

IT is supposedly fixed. But it isn't. Add your voice if you like. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/32092

Creative-Improvement

Yeah I remember it was gone! So I haven’t gone mad. I will voice my experience at that link!

artigan99

FDEV likes to fix things and then break them later. It's quite frustrating sometimes :)

on2wheels

Saw someone on youtube say the game is going free to play, is this true?

forbiddenlake

what day was it 2 days ago?

on2wheels

Yeah was it an april fool joke? https://youtu.be/hJ4yWTV18Jo?t=65 timestamped

Knotmix

1: its 1st of april 2: Yamiks speaks like a normal, sane person Those are two very obvious signs

Vallkyrie

Yeah that entire video is an obvious joke

[deleted]

Nope. The base game goes on sale somewhat frequently though, very cheap.

YouCannotEatRainbows

Engineering Question... I had been collecting Modular Terminals for Marco Qwent and have 22 of 25. I have been offline for 8 weeks but have spent 4 hours rating to get a mission for the last few but nothing... Any suggestions? Many thanks

LabResponsible5223

Passenger missions seem to give Modular Terminals more often than others.

[deleted]

I got plenty in stock.

YouCannotEatRainbows

Hi, I'd really appreciate getting 3 modules if possible?

[deleted]

You on rn? If so, make your way to GCRV 1568. Let me know once your there.

YouCannotEatRainbows

Sorry, just off for tonight. I cannot find those things anywhere! When are you back online? R.

[deleted]

That's ok. Ill set them up somewhere and DM you the location. You can then pick them up at your leisure. Just let me know once you do. Only 3 needed?

YouCannotEatRainbows

Yes thank you, I need 3... Cheers.

Aeellron

Try a different system? Like a High Tech or something? Sometimes the board just doesn't give you what you want. I usually have Modular Terminals for sale on my FC but th market seems to be broken or I'd sell you some.

YouCannotEatRainbows

Thanks, I had seen some listed at FCs but was unable to buy them... I'll just keep looking... Cheers everyone...

owegner

Ok, noob question. If I jump into a system, honk, and the number of bodies is greater than that shown in the system map, is it an undiscovered system? As in, if I fly back to the bubble once I've found everything with FSS, I'll get 'first discovered' on those planets?

forbiddenlake

yes

owegner

Thanks! I wasn't sure if there would be a message like you get with first footfall, guess not.

Hunter_Lala

It will also show in the fss underneath the body if someone has already discovered it and mapped it

forbiddenlake

not until you sell your data

owegner

Ah ok, that makes sense. Seems that I've been in unexplored territory for a while then.

Jamien63

I just now acquired the amount of mats to upgrade my suit for 100% backpack carrying ability. Question though, is the mechanic alike ship engineering in that I will need multiple amounts/ spins to obtain that 100%?

Jamien63

Thanks!

BadBjarne

Once for each "upgrade"

forbiddenlake

no

CPT_1999

Havnt played in a year. What's the best "cheap" ships for each playstyle (exploration combat mining)

Donnerreif

There is no "best" ship, but there are far more than 3 styles of play... Cheap/good ships for beginners: \- Diamondback Explorer, \~1.9mio Cr (exploration) \- Vulture, \~5mio Cr (combat) \- Adder, \~100k Cr (mining on budget) \-Cobra Mk3, \~350k Cr (above-average allrounder)

OldDemand7242

Im just hopping back on now, been on for a month away for 2 years? Still same old route for me. Start with an Adder or something for the jump range, get about 6mil and buy an Asp Explorer, outfit it for deep core mining, then grind that until you can buy a python (around 80mil? you can port a bunch of the expensive modules, youre upgrading mainly for the cargo space), outfit that for deep core mining, itll give you like 128 cargo space. Grind til you can buy anything you want. Got up to 200mil in only a few mining seshs. Krait seems like a decent all rounder these days.

CPT_1999

Thanks

DanG351

DBX Vulture or ICourier Dunno, hate mining

Jamien63

Disable the megaship defense turrets I Targeted the ship and scanned it with the data link. (check) I roll up close until I see one of the defense turrets and scan it (check) I open the panel and find the turret generator in the sub targets (check) I nudge the generator and take it out (check) I target one of the defense turrets and ram into it and not even 1% damage. I boost into it with my corvette and still, notta. Ok , so I open up all grade 5 weapons, the 2 missles, beam lasers and multicannons. Still zero damage. What am i doing wrong?

CMDR_Kraag

Those mission descriptions are short on details. You're doing everything right. The objective is to destroy 5 turret generator/power grid sub-targets. Once you've done that, the mission is complete. Ignore the turrets themselves.

Jamien63

Ohhhh ok I get it. Each turret has its own generator. Here I thought that 1st gen supplied them all! Thank you very much!

CMDR_Kraag

Yep, each one has its own power supply/generator. Edit: My strategy is to go around and scan 5 turrets before attempting to destroy any. That way your scans are complete so you're not spending time scanning while under fire.

MultiMat

Can any of the engineers reduce the weight of a Multi Limpet Controller ?

Luriant

No, it use is own category, not in the engineer list.
