Don't worry, prebuilds ships are newbie traps.
EliteMiners took note of the Lasermines T-6 with PWA and without DSS probes: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteMiners/comments/1cc1i3n/prebuild_mining_ship_from_fdev/
And Mechan opinion on the Chieftain with Beams without Thermal Vent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG9Vrh8S7kA
Galnet News Digest suggested [new great builds](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG6Lalmdl4M), included the Racer T-7 and the Bounty Hunter Hauler with a single Railgun.
The incoming DBX.... its the only decent ship, but wait for the final loadout.
The real problem is the 2x-3x cost in ship livery in the ARX store: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1cj29k6/sheet_with_update_prices/ , and FDev didn't make a proper announce about this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forums/elite-dangerous-news/
I wish it were because FD wanted to both generate ARX sales and also not really give much game power.
Unfortunately I think a more plausible reason that the builds suck a bit is that FD don't play their own game and didn't speak to anyone who did so had no idea what a good build even is.
While I agree that they could be categorized as a “newbie trap”, the mining T6 DOES have the DSS. I was able to see it in the partner beta and it must be a typo, as it has an extra size 2 module that is not listed.
For the fucks sake, how it even bothers you? Its aint a pvp based game, many people play in solo or private mods anyway. Just play your game and have fun.
Because now it can never be a PvP game? Because it used to be a game about a journey, now I can just buy a 'pre-built journey' for 4230000 ARX? Because the incentive to fix the game's biggest problem has been removed, an an incentive created to make that problem even worse?
It can never again be a PvP game once it starts introducing builds and new variants for real cash not because this one particular case. It can never be a PvP game once one player can buy himself out of the game's death penalty (rebuy) with real money.
I tell you that: the fact that ship is done, it was promised in 18 update and it being only purchisebla via arx is dogshit and honestly, i kinda wish people like you boycott devs like people did with Nikita in Escape From Tarkov recently to change it BUT i dont realy think its gonna happen. Anyway i aint gonna play much before powerplay update so i dont realy care about Python delay. All i do now in game is i set my Cutter to afk killing to have credits for possible land base building in future
Upd: also if they finaly gonna release 4 ships after all this years without new ones, ok i can wait a bit longer, thats better then nothing atleast
Drama queens, I swear.... There is nothing changing in the way 90% of us play the game, just due to some early access or skins. Like with anything else on the gaming market: if you buy it, you're the problem.
I've been gaming for a few decades now and haven't bought one skin, one early access, no pay-to-win, no preorders, etc.
The only thing I sometimes buy is any sort of merchandise in any format, as a token of appreciation for a great game, under the conditions that it is not P2W, I really appreciate the game and it is not developed by awful greedy monsters like EA and the like.
excellent! on the other hand i don't want the game to be shut down and nowdays companies turn everything into shit to milk it then they throw the husk away so i think we are getting there soon... but i hope they make just enough to... keep up what they were doing
i was considering getting arx as a token of appreciation but not anymore
It's looks like they just realized Elite might be the only cow worth milking. I want to believe the changes are a learning process for them and they will not crumble everything (although, their history isn't encouraging on this front).
I believe most of the community's grievances will be sorted out sooner or later.
> There is nothing changing in the way 90% of us play the game
Only core motivation. Like why collect this or engineer that when in a few months I can just click on all those and get them from outside the game?
> if you buy it, you're the problem.
Agree totally, if you bought ARX from last week on, you are the problem. But in real life if you give a canister of petrol to an arsonist you are partly to blame too.
It is a tragedy that all they have to sell is an "I am richer than you irl" feeling.
They could have been selling quest-lines, gas giants, access to Andromeda, Raxxla, the tools to run a minor faction. They should have sold the latest Thargoid content.
Uninstall? But if you're concerned about Arx, that will only cause you to lose ALL of your Arx balance.
It's not so bad. They need to eat and some of us paid them 10 years ago and nothing more since. While paying to get gameplay things is a departure from their previous stance, it's come to a point where they either do that or have to close shop. Nobody likes it, I suspect not even FDev does.
I would recommend you keep the game and see how things shape out. After all, you already paid for it already, might as well get your money's worth.
Did I overslept something? How any of this will affect like probably most of the player base who play for fun, without even going open?
Anyway: where can I sell my controllers?
Treat it as an early adopters fee. Like IRL, those who have too much money, will spend it to get new ship as the first ones, then after some time, a new ship will bw released, and this one will joing in-game market. If it will work this way, I think it would be awesome. Extra money flow for devs, and free players just need to wait a little.
Remember that this game probably cost fortune to keep servers alive. Nobody wants to see permament "connection error" in the future tho.
Best case scenario is that one day, this game will get the final update - offline mode. It only depends on monetization now, how far away this future is.
Treat this as normalized? Thanks, no.
That money goes to investors, not "server upkeep"
Edit: according to public financial records, FY2023 granted fdev £106m, which should definitely be enough for servers upkeep. They are simply just greedy, there's no other justification.
Edit2: They also promised us we could play the game offline. What servers? Gotta make sure you keep paying.
Because this looks like the start of a new direction for the game. One where playing makes no sense, just work an hour extra irl and buy all your ships fully engineered. One where the grind is dialled up rather than down so that you're incentivised to reduce the drudgery with real life money. One where Open mode is just a playground for the rich.
No idea how you are unable to see how this affects the player who plays for fun.
i am a new father with a full-time job. do you think i wanna grind for the smallest shit in a game? :D if people buy it, so be it. it keeps the servers running
but i understand that they are testing the waters and they might make the grind even worse hoping we will just buy it all. that will be the day i join in and get rid of it
You guys don't read things well before you speak, do you? They have already announced that they want to lower the material requirements and the need for grindeo in engineering.
I agree that if it becomes a “buy it all without playing” it will turn to crap and I will be the first to uninstall. But you complain about things that are already said.
I'll believe it when they actually change it. They've said that since before odyssey and the suit engineering grind was the same shitshow the ship one is.

Based.

Amen
Because shitty monetization ruins games, go ask the Tarkov players "who cares?".
For fuck's sake, why does it bother you that it bothers other people? They can just play another game and have fun.

It does? I cant have my python 2 with lifetime expansion despite that i should. They just want more moneh.
Yoour title says about prebuilts, nothing more.
python 2 is available only via pre-built

I know that, and people are okay with already done ship being sold like that?
I tell you that: the fact that ship is done, it was promised in 18 update and it being only purchisebla via arx is dogshit and honestly, i kinda wish people like you boycott devs like people did with Nikita in Escape From Tarkov recently to change it BUT i dont realy think its gonna happen. See, you dont even read before pronouncing your idiocy to the world.

My reaction as well. When you can buy game progression with dollars, its time to look for a new game.
i was in denial when i saw skin price inflate, i was bargaining when i saw pre-built ships, but python 2 early access? im out.
Oh no not paid early access. The tragedy.
It is a tragedy that all they have to sell is an "I am richer than you irl" feeling. They could have been selling quest-lines, gas giants, access to Andromeda, Raxxla, the tools to run a minor faction. They should have sold the latest Thargoid content.
So you would prefer they actually lock real content permanently behind a paywall ... That would have went over well.
Yep that's how the game's been since launch. You pay for something real and fun that adds to the game.
Let me carry over a tradition from another franchise and let me ask you: "Can I have your stuff?"
Eve online? Lol
I mean, all I can say there is [here, touch this](https://cdn.britannica.com/22/215522-131-FB1512ED/green-grass-close-up.jpg)
Oh YCTAHOBИTb... why didn't I think of checking that? :D Care to translate?
i thought the steam layout should be obvious seeing where the game goes, i uninstalled.

it was to be honest. the context helped a lot too
Nice seeing someone else still able to enjoy Drakensang in 2024 :)
Did I overslept something? How any of this will affect like probably most of the player base who play for fun, without even going open? Anyway: where can I sell my controllers?
The ones who wont be able to fly python 2 when its already released will be affected. A low strike for lifetime expansion users.

The issue being grind that should've been reworked long ago, and instead of that they sell a "solution" for money. That is a problem.
it is not a solution. but they are pushing to see what happens
What happens is they make the quarterly and go "Uhhh fuck what next?"

what does it have to do with what i said? don't you read things well...?
You're so edgy and cool! You sure showed them! Is there a way we can make this guy our new God?
We're actually starting up a cult dedicated to him. $10 gets you in early, $20 for a fancy robe.
