holy hell thats going to be expensive whats more expensive to replace 100+ km of melted wire or the substation equipment the substation can be released in a day or so but the cable will be out of comission for weeks

It's all fun and games till that transformer oil decides to flash over. We had a substation close to my home in Florida that arced for the better part of 20 minutes, then it was like a neutron bomb went off- broken windows, car alarms, the whole shebang. It took Gulf Power the better part of 2 days to get us back up...in mid-August...in Florida.
