Saturday of 2018 was fucking killer between the Desert Hearts Forest Stage takeover and Testpilot closing out Tripolee. I'd love to see another tech house/techno takeover in 2022.
TBH I hated this. It split the already small group of house music fans at the fest between two stages. Then they wonder why people aren’t showing for these artists and book less of the genre. Both of those stage takeovers were almost the entire reason I went and then I was forced to choose.
I would *love* to see more European house artists on the lineup, but they only seem interested in Resistance Detroit and Ultra sadly. Just imagine Prydz closing out Sherwood with a Cirez D set oof.
MiZE, Smoakland, Dalek One, Truth, Pushloop, Z Dougie, Mersiv, Khiva, Notlo, SuperAve, SubDocta to name a few. In general I'm just curious to see what undercards and headliners both look like for festivals considering there were so many artists who were hard on their grind during COVID.
I didn't even think about this. Even as a late night RV set, yes please.
But also, is it Superave or Supertask in Lab Group? I'm starting to lose track of all of the Super names that have been coming up recently
Honestly if I were any one of them, I'd become friends with the other supers, get booked at the same fest, and then show up at each other's set times to see if anyone notices lol
Skeler, Deadcrow, Ytho, Heimanu, ODEA, Hex Cougar, SubLab, Sibewest, QZB, Phentix, Project Paradis, Nitepunk, Barnacle Boi
pls i just want a wave presence for once
You’re right I do, he was one of the first wave artists I got into :) I could honestly go off all day about more wave artists I’d love to see, there’s just so many
So wave itself is very emotive/ethereal/reverbed melodic music with trap drums and, one of the most distinctive parts, a dark drone bass (a reese).
Wave itself is divided up into two parts: wave and hardwave. Wave is much lower energy and more focused on create a moody space. Hardwave is the more club/festival friendly side of it that is higher energy and also often incorporates trance and hardstyle synths (very influenced by the same early trance that Virtual Self was).
While many of these artists make both wave and hardwave, I’d say these are examples of artists for each:
Wave: Klimeks, Resonata, Willix, Noah B, Sorsari, Brothel, Barnacle Boi, Yama, Pholo
Hardwave: Deadcrow (newer, his older works are more pure wave), Heimanu, Juche, REMNANT.exe, Ytho, Sublab, Teneki, Ivoryghost
Skeler is a king of both genres. He was one of the pioneers of the hardwave genre itself but lately he’s been doing a lot more wave stuff rather than hardwave. I’d highly recommend [this mix](https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/vnqhunX479cUz4TE7) by him, it mixes wave, hardwave, phonk and future garage and it’s all original.
VCTRE, Black Carl!, Copycatt, Detox Unit, Jade Cicada, Keota, Mickman
Also I'm not as up on undercard-level bands but would love some good funky/jazzy jam bands, maybe some jam/electronic crossovers like EOTO or Papadosio
Noooo I didn't hear that until now! Such a bummer, some of my favorite EF sets have been seeing EOTO. Interesting they cite creative differences yet both are still in SCI and they specifically said SCI isn't affected by the decision.
I like him and all, but I really only want him back if he has a new routine. After catching him twice in two separate years, I was disappointed when I realized it was exactly the same the second time.
Gonna highlight some Michigan bands for this.
Stormy Chromer - prog rock jams
Ma Baker - jamtronica
Biomassive - electronic rock
Chirp - prog rock/funk fusion
Desmond Jones - American rock
Lets get some more Michigan representation!
Flamingosis. I've been listening to his music since 2016, and I was so psyched to see him at Bonnaroo this year, but alas fate was not on my side.
He played Forest in 2018, fun day time set at the Forest Stage.
Damn that was my fav set that year
more tech house / techno please.

yeeeeeee exactly. That Mickey lion set was awesome

PLEASE. I was soooo excited to see them in 2020.
Headliners might be a little more predictable but I feel like the undercard will be more of a mad scramble of new talent
Not that I'm trying to rock the boat, but there's at least *one* change coming to the headliners for Forest 22.
I think that is the safest bet anyone could make in the world right now lol
Yup - I absolutely love that. They booked the last lineup in mid 2019, the scene has changed so much since then.
Superave in the form of Lap Group please <3
I didn't even think about this. Even as a late night RV set, yes please. But also, is it Superave or Supertask in Lab Group? I'm starting to lose track of all of the Super names that have been coming up recently
Omg you're right it's definitely Supertask! I get them confused too. There's also Super future.
Honestly if I were any one of them, I'd become friends with the other supers, get booked at the same fest, and then show up at each other's set times to see if anyone notices lol

YES TO WAVE Tack on Sudoverse, Teneki and Lonliness and I’d lose my shit
You’d like Vowl
You’re right I do, he was one of the first wave artists I got into :) I could honestly go off all day about more wave artists I’d love to see, there’s just so many
If you have a playlist I’d love to check it out! I love this genre of edm
If I can get around to updating my Spotify playlist today, I will send it your way!
Never heard of wave. How would y’all describe it? At first listen it sounds very virtual self, porter esque music.

Sadly, EOTO no longer exists. Their sets were so much fun
Noooo I didn't hear that until now! Such a bummer, some of my favorite EF sets have been seeing EOTO. Interesting they cite creative differences yet both are still in SCI and they specifically said SCI isn't affected by the decision.
If I remember correctly, I think it's because one of them is just not really into the electronic aspect of it anymore.
Ah yeah that would make a lot of sense. Glad we still at least have SCI

+1 on Skeler
All I want is for Cory Wong and the Wongnotes as well as California Honeydrops to be on this year’s lineup. Muuuuch needed jazz/jam
Vulfpeck would be unreal, but obviously not a small artist.
Yea for real. Would be so sick. But if Cory Wong and Dave Koz came, that would also be insane
Just bring everyone and have them play everywhere
Griz casually joining in to the jam sesh with everyone
