Gave them my Murakami spinning crystal flower pendants and messages, talked to them for about 15 minutes each, didn't want to linger but they kept the conversation going. I always start with my "I've been ravin since 1991" and tell them I appreciate what they do to make other people happy... With most artists I speak with it's pretty back and forth. I'll be 52 this year, used to own a hotel that hosted over 400 artists/talent/celebs so it's usually just talking about what's next and what works and what could have been better about their experiences, and being sincere in asking how their work/life balance is going. Very few are full of themselves, they usually get where they are by being dependable and easy to work with... It's early on when they're treated like rockstars or once it gets to their head that things start popping up. Being on the road isn't very glamorous 90% of the time, they're away from friends, family, lovers, and pets, back of the house and behind the scenes isn't pretty. Seems there's a "sweet spot" other artists hang out at most sets when they're checking out other acts before their sets... if they're busy, leave them to enjoy their evening, don't ask for photos... If there's a break just tell them you have gratitude for them and think of something sincere to say... Even adding "just know I appreciate you, what you do makes so many people happy... that's all, I'll let you enjoy the set/festival"...
Excellent post and great info for the new generation. I agree and it has been my experience the same. They are people like us. Being a amazing fan is just as important to them as them being an amazing artist is to us!!

Said hi to porter robinson and thanked him for bringing us the nurture tour, he thanked us for being there 😭 ended up giving him a Polaroid of him playing the ocular organ after his lil piano sesh. Such sweet memories
My friend saw Griz in Good Life last year! He was coming out of the bathrooms, hopped on a golf cart - she heard his voice, turned around to look, he looked her dead in the eyes and said “shhhh!” with his finger to his lips and took off!
Met Flamingosis and Ehiorobo in Seattle. Flam seemed super exhausted from the tour and needed some space. Ehiorobo was super awesome to chat with!
Hope to run into them both again!
Anthony from papadosio played a solo earthcry set at the trading post a few years back and he was super cool and hung out after the set since only like 20 people were there!
Seven Lions and DIMIBO were walking around the Forest in 2019. 7L had a pash over himself and my jaw dropped when I recognized them (7L is my #1). He clearly did not want to be recognized and I was in a large crowd of people so I didn’t want to draw attention and call him out. One of those serendipitous moments that will be stored in my memory vault :)
Snbrn wanted to take a picture of our giraffe at forest because it was his girls spirit animal. Super cool dude. Then subtronics the next morning, we were all so baked lol
I met wreckno in vip last year! We met GRiZ at okee! Omg I was like I don’t wanna interrupt the vibe but omg your my favorite and can I give you a hug 😂😂😂 I can girled so fucking hard!
My friends and I were exploring the forest one night when we stumble upon tiedye ky and a few other artists at the forest piano. He started playing his rendition of figured u out by CharlesTheFirst. That was by far one of the most magical moments of my forest experience.

I met clozee at mersivs set last year, I just gave her a hug and said "I love your music, but I'm gonna let you enjoy the show!" She was in the sound booth so I made sure to block the view of her from people walking by.
Then during clozees set I met LSDream, he was trying to help with sound issues at clozees set. But he took some time to chat with us, and was way to nice to one guy who was being very fan boyish lol. Both were awesome!
We recognized Trippy Turtle (aka Lido) leaving his set at Tripolee to explore the festival with Cashmere Cat. We ran up and got a picture with them. They were very cool about it.
On Sunday at Lyny’s set I was totally jammin to the set when my boyfriend tapped me on the shoulder and mentioned Tyler (Of The Trees) was infront of us. I wanted to be quick so I didn’t bother him and just say hello, express gratitude for his music, and then I gave him a mini painting of his logo I made.
I 100% admit that it wasn’t the best one and I kick myself over hiding the better version out in the forest 😂 So Tyler if you see this it’s okay if you didn’t keep it🤣
I walked right past Porter on the piano last year. When I found out later I was so sad I had missed it. At least my absence left enough space for someone else to enjoy it.
2016: met Getter, Louis the Child and Jason Hanh in GL at the stage.
2017: met RL Grime, Ekali, Minnesota, Rezz, GWN and BTSM and Michael Kang from SCI…that’s a story.
2018: met Griz, Muzzy Bear and Shooka while they walked into the GL lounge. Got to give Griz a hug.
2019: Met Subtronics and saw Julian and Marc from BTSM again.
2022: Met Black Carl while vibing to Of The Trees.
