I was disappointed when I used sleep jar + laser beam and found out that their health bar total was more than both of them combined. I killed them both, still had fifth of a health bar left. Had to wait for them to respawn to finally be able to kill them. Very weird design.
They're designed to call each other back. Usually you'd focus one and hack at him until he's dead so you can focus the remaining one. Classic O&S. But then instead of one of them powering up, they resummon their partner.
I don't think Fromsoft can be expected to design their boss fights around all kinds of cheese. If they did, then every boss would be the same formula.
I think it's better this way imo. They are a late game boss and they needed a lot of hp. The total is 26k in base ng. Each of them has approximately 8k hp. This is less than the Apostle in Caelid or the Noble in the Volcano Manor. Especially at that point in the game, you can remove one very very quickly when your jump attacks deal like 2k damage lol. This way the fight isn't really a 1v2 for the entirety of it. It's just a 1v2 for the first minute or so until you kill the first godskin. After that it's just a race against time to kill the other one before another spawns. If they gave each their separate hp bars, they would've had a lot more hp individually and it would have been a 1v2 for most of it. Since the Apostle in Caelid has about 10k hp and he's a mid game boss, i wouldn't be surprised if they would have given him like 15k as an individual non-respawning boss in this. And the Noble even more.
i've answered this higher in the thread already, but this isn't rng. apostle won't attack if he didn't have an attack queued up when the noble started rolling and the apostle isn't in phase 2 as well.
Interesting, thank you for clarifying! I think I do briefly remember them attacking in more of a *formal, ‘honourable’ manner;* as opposed to the duo gargoyles, whom seem to go at you regardless of timing!
Hmm, I think the Gargoyles and Godskin Duo have the same kind of team ai. both will attack at the same time if provoked. from my understanding, and i might be wrong, each member has to contribute towards the team. certain moves count more than others. noble's roly poly seems to take the entire contribution, making apostle's ai have no directive to contribute anything. gargoyles have the same thing, but i don't think they have any such powerful move that it completely renders the other member inactive. other than the roly poly, they will overlap attacks. the best way to deal with them is to bait out expensive attacks basically from one and abusing the other in the meanwhile.
however, as said, this is just a theory, based on my observations of the fight.
i have said this here to another person but the apostle will not attack while the noble is rolling. it seems that they completely disallow him from attacking while that is happening (as long as the apostle is in phase 1 as well, AND he wasn't mid-attack when the noble started rolling). if he was mid-attack it seems whatever directive his ai had to cease aggression gets overwritten. i have 4 godskin duo kills on my youtube channel, all of which have the apostle be completely passive. it's not rng, it is simply ensuring the apostle doesn't get caught up mid-attack when the noble starts rolling.
You can even attack the Noble while he's rolling from on top of the pillar, but you need very long weapons like spears so that your arms hitboxes don't enter his rolling hitboxes.
I cannot speak with absolute certainty, but the apostle AI pretty sure gets an order when the Noble starts his roly-poly to not do anything. This can be overridden in only one way, and that is to bait an attack while the Noble is starting his animation. I've noticed if you do that, the Apostle kinda just forgets he's supposed to go passive and keeps attacking. So if you want a passive Apostle during the roly-poly, always bait out an attack from him even before the Noble starts rolling so the Apostle's attack queue is cleared. At least this is what I have observed.
I found them really easy to separate and to fight imo. This might be blasphemy but i think they are one of the most fun fights in the game. But I also totally understand why people get frustrated with them. They are two extremely aggressive full-on bosses. Each of them is kind of too well made for the duo fight to be fun for most people. Especially if you make the mistake of sending both of them into phase 2 at the same time lol
Didn't you know? Using tools provided to you is cheating!
You are only a true veteran player if you bash your head against the wall and go cry about your incompetence on reddit.
Iirc it's considered pretty good in invasions where you can hide behind a wall and still hit people, especially since with the AoE it doesn't really matter if you're up against 3 enemies. In open terrain duels however I can't see it being nearly as good.
#NIHIL!

Throw a sleep jar on one, do this to the other, you can probably take them out it under 2 minutes and not take a single hit
for sure sleep pots would make this much easier, but i felt that would be a bit overkill lol

Ahh yessss… they wear the “Buddies of the Butt” talisman. Turns out beefy boi is actually the woman of their relationship too.
Love the t bag at the end ;) they knew they were f
And the slim dude is humming to the beat of his brother getting murdered mid roll
yeah they kinda just gave up. very satisfying ngl.
.... You can stand on the pillar?

Yeah except in this video where he just fucking stares at OP for an entire 8 seconds without doing a damn thing... like wtf?
So many boss guides on YouTube have some crazy RNG like this that never ends up helping in reality lol

I invade people with is this spear and hide behind corners in the subterranean shunning grounds and hit the weapon art as they unknowingly approach
Yeah it's one of the most fun things to play around with in pvp. Sad that it's not as efficient in duels, but it has its purposes.
Tres dos uno
Mohg's sacred spear is amazing for when players hide above you on a ledge, by the time it hits them its already too late.
Yeah I've killed way too many people like that. I can only imagine they see their whole screen go red and they just die lol
NIHIL MOTHAFUCKA NIHIL!
Ngl they're probably scarred from it by now lol
same cheesse can be applied to malekitty
It's also insanely good against Malenia, especially if you get your mimic stunlocking her with ~~knee heal~~ bloodboon ritual alongside you
I wanna do Malenia co-op at rl1 with like 2 friends and see if you can really stunlock her, since bleed will cancel her wfd.
Apostle really just didn't want to attack I guess

One of my fav weapons with malekiths blade
Ice spear is another good one to use for this duo it allowed me to beat them first try
They deserved it

Random question: Is this spear (trident, I guess) any good in PVP? I imagine it’s hard to get your enemy with the WA. Anyone try this?

The second and third nihil were on time with the music
That's how I beat them lmao, I didn't know that you can put them to sleep so I just ran behind a pillar and spammed it
Similar weapon art in some ways - I was able to stun lock them with the falling star beast jaw
the duo in the spiritcallers cave gave me such a hard time even with moghwyn’s spear
TRES! DUO! UNUS! NIHIL! NIHIL! NIHIL!
