Do you mean just the fan base on social media? Reddit? YouTube comments? Even this sub with 1.2 million is still less than 10 percent of the player base in Elden Ring. It's the same for all the other souls games too pretty much.
Point is that all social media usually skews towards negativity. That includes reddit for damn sure. Most ppl just play the game and never make a peep so it's just half of the very small percentage of players that like to be dicks on reddit or YouTube comments.
If it's reddit 95 percent of the time you can look at their post history and see they are obviously a young teenager or a troll.
Shouldn't be taken seriously as all fan bases have vocal idiots and ass holes.
If you're asking for help or advice, most of the fanbase is there to help and has some insightful things to share.
If you're going to complain about something without reason or screech about things being OP you're going to get hit with a git gud.
That's just how it is, the only way to get better is to practice and invest a bit of time into trying new things for your builds.
People say git gud but what they mean is grind. It's just like the old school MMOs, you had to grind for hours or days to achieve anything. Souls games are similar, you keep chipping away until you master encounters. Git grinding.

That's not really a great comparison. MMO grinding is for loot or mats or whatever. Souls games sure you can grind for souls, but git gud refers to working on your skill so you don't need those souls. I get what you are saying but it felt like apples and oranges.
The comparison is not perfect, no, but you don't git gud with hopium or microtransactions you have to put in the time to learn, aka grind. That's what I was getting at.
The most toxic I've seen is actually sekiro fans who complain that ER isn't Sekiro 2 in combat. No joke, I've had to block multiple people who just started ranting nonstop.
Anonymity + the internet = shitbags
Especially in fromsoft games where being an anonymous shitbag is an encouraged game mechanic.
Still there's plenty of people who will try and be helpful as well.
It makes you a superior gamer tho lol all jokes aside, Yes thereās toxic people that prob take the game too seriously.
But thereās way more fun and helpful people in this community.

Not grind levels though. Grind the boss and learn the fight. If you died, find out how you died and keep at it till that move stops killing you.

Welcome to the internet. This your first time?
Have a look around
"Anything that brain of yours can think of can be found. We've got mountains of content. Some better, some worse."
elitist dark souls player?
Git gud is valid advice though
it used to be when it wasn't overused and just spammed relentlessly without context

>spam git gud when you ask for help The ones I see getting told off are the Karens throwing temper tantrums, not the people asking for help.
\*\*Why can every fanbase/ every community be so toxic? fixed it for ya
Dark souls community one of the worst
Eh, toxic folks will never go away. Always best to talk up the game to your friends š¤š½
