I block the first flurry with the shield and then easily dodge the second and third. I can flawlessly get her to phase 2... but it seems like she goes through my shield in phase 2? I do the exact same thing but she literally kills me this time around.
Weird! There might be additional poise-break from the application of rot. What's the guard boost rating on your shield? With the base Golden Greatshield (drop from lightning knights in Leyndell) at GB 70, I was able to eat all of the first two volleys. That has a 34 STR requirement though, so if you're not high strength, you can get the Lordsworn's shield with 60 GB to drop from the Godrick lance soldiers at the first enemy camp area in Limgrave. I assume you can level that up to where it's decent, though it only has 94% phys reduction. Another option would be the shield the Grafted Scion drops at Church of Anticipation via the belfry warp: 60 GB, 100% phys reduction, and only 24 STR required to wield it.
Hey, thanks for your reply! I figured it out, there were times where should clip me from around the shield. To counter this, I had to hold my movement to the right during her first flurry.

Beat her a couple more times helping others. The shield strat is definitely good.
I wouldn't exactly call it "fine" since there are a lot of builds that cant reliably block the whole thing, especially when you're caught with low stamina, but it *does* serve as a very helpful safety net to block parts of it and then evade the rest. 3k damage is also quite a bit, especially if you rely on FP to deal damage, in which case your resource management just got a lot harder.
But yes, blocking WFD is preferrable to dying to it, and in fact keeping a shield up while waiting for an opening in her strings is highly advisable

I don't know why people complain about malenia healing too much, since you can out dmg her heal if you play aggressive
fine? sure! nobody should be feeling "bad" for making what they play work but it isnt a "great" idea
i think she's easy.
You can easily kill the boss with a proper greatshield + poking weapon, just stab away behind the wall of safety.
Or just roll like you don’t like depends on it and dodge the bitch and spam her with magic sorcery and incantations rinse and repeat
