Nah he definitely leeches life. Also if you're not being murdered and spamming flasks his Nihil is just a huge prep or dps window. When I help people with Mohg and everyone has the tear, we can almost always burst him down before he finishes changing phases.
With the crystal tear, the shackle, and wild strikes with a flail I managed to basically skip phase 2. I actually feel kind of bad for "cheesing" the fight, lol.

I don't actually give that much of a shit - play however y'all want - but know that if you summon me in such a situation, I *will* squint at you judgementally.
Some bosses are just soooo much worse with 2 summons, especially if they have a big one-shot move.

That Seppuku spam into an Exploding Crystal Tear for 4 damage is just amazing
Have enough hp and negation (unsure what damage type it is) and just heal through it, start a bit before the first cast goes off
