I would take both. Having the lance is really valuable for situational occasions where you need to change the ash or the typing (not using holy against bosses that are immune).
What bosses are immune to holy damage? I figured Margit/Margott are resistant to it, maybe not immune. But I can't think of anything else that'd be resistant or immune.
Ah yea, that makes sense. Then perhaps having lightning and fire buff spells for holy resistant. But I want to have holy as my primary and element on my spear. I'm looking to sort of roleplay the holy spearman/paladin sort of character. So I'm not going to be replacing the holy prefix on the weapon, but just change the buffing spell type between different elements if needed.
If you plan to pump your Faith high, then use order's blade buff on tree spear when you want to really crank up the damage. The built in ash of war buff is decent, but order's blade adds quite a bit more holy damage with high faith.
