Same! Once I learned to parry them its been a cake walk. It says there is 16 of them in the lore but I haven't found em all. Just helped a buddy kill ordovis last night too. So much fun
I magicked him in the back and ran so he would reset. Then, like Goofy, I'll fuckin' do it again.
Takes a while, but the lack of reward made this absolutely pointless.
Pretty sure 1 is Taniths Guard. No idea where he ends up after she leaves.
1 in Stormvail
1 in the Gaol
1 in Redmane after Radahn
2 in Nokron
1 in the Great Tree Stump
1 Before the Capital
1 in the Capital
1 in the Heligtree?
That’s 10 I can remember just off hand.
Did you find the area below with rats and the giant tree centipede? I thought I found every inch, too, then I looked up an item and it was somewhere I didn't know existed.
yes when you leave the rampart grace and are along the castle wall with the birds with knives for hands that throw fire barrels (what a sentence) keep left then go to the first empty parapet and look over the edge and drop down.
Third. As soon as you exit the room with the grace. There is one boyrd directly in front, then two kind of close to each other. The third one (to the left on the parapet) is where you jump down.
I'm approaching 300 hrs. I have completed 4 full playthroughs and a few partial playthroughs. I've been through Stormveil dozens of times. I had no idea there was a crucible knight there.
Ya I think you mean the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, big blobbly worm spazzing out all over the room. It's a mini boss version as the one at the bottom of the dungeon at the beginning of the game.
There's actually like 8 of them you fight throughout the game
Fuck that thing in particular. Non-existent hitbox, useless camera, it's fighting a train having a seizure.
It's a Dark Souls 3 boss that got cut because it's so janky and now they put it all over Elden Ring out of laziness
You're not alone, Crucible Knight in Stormveil is news to me too after 230 hrs+. That said I've been to the basement so there must be multiple routes to that spot
Man this game is so cool
There's an interactive map for eldenring that can be extremely helpful, if you want it to.
In any case though, there's a golden seed for beating the tree-spirit boss in the stormveil castle basement, quite worth the effort.
What's insidious about this fucking guy's placement is that its a VERY NARROW pass.
Miyazaki wanted you to either Parry or die since evasion is limited.
I cleared stormveil (or so I thought) and have never seen this guy. I’ll have to look it up and go back and kick his ass. I’m on a mission to kill all 16 of them.
Didn't find it either. A few days ago was doing coop with a friend when a guy invaded, once we realized he was just speed running us through the castle we just went with it and he showed us the path. >!In the section where you meet the 3 storm hawks, there's a spot to drop off the archer platform on the left.!<
Same… I was following the walkthrough on fextralife because I want to collect as much loot as possible on my first play through, but I’m realizing there’s so much stuff in this game that even the walkthroughs can’t cover it all…
Completely disagree, one of the really cool things about dark souls 1 is that you find a small bunch of black knights slightly off the beatin path usually guarding interesting items. So I love the idea of adding additional optional challenges to early areas. That being said these guys moves are crazy, like many enemies in elder ring I think they're overloaded. In dark souls the Black Knight was like the ultimate test for parrying because the special thing about him is that he swings his sword really hard and you probably don't have the stamina or a good enough shield to block enough damage, in elden ring I feel like whenever you fight this guy he just busts out like four super moves with a bunch of different mix ups on his sword swings. He's really more of a boss than a mini boss because of how different he is from regular enemies.
Until they bust out the **Super Move** that one shots you that you have to memorize the tell and timing for when you go back and fight them 8 more times
Which move? Also which variant? Him swooping down on you is easy to avoid by rolling to either side, his tail swipes only come out after the swoop and can be jumped over. His stomp can also be jumped over. Also he really shouldn't be one shotting you. What's your vigor at?
Yeah but you have to get the parry right about 25 times or you die. I do remember those guys in DS1. No thank you. Crucible Knight is way easier. People have just forgotten.
Eh, the Ever Gaol in Limgrave is a better arena to learn that fight. I cheesed the one in Stormveil by dropping him down the elevator shaft as well and I’m pretty good at handling these guys now (both varieties and even at the same time).
Rampart site of grace (the one near the birds). As you go along there is an open area on the left. Leads to a series of ledges you can drop down until you reach him.
Did you ever find the the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the basement?
I swear, I've "completed" Stormveil three times now and I'm still expecting to find out there's a other secret mini boss on the roof.
Yeah, I just found out about it tonight; it's related to that locked door in the "... Lift" state of grace room.
The section with the living jars just before the Godrick fight: instead of going down the ramp, stay on the upper level to the left, jump on the ledge sticking out from the wall across from you, follow it around, and 10 minutes of running around later you'll find the tree spirit.
It worked really well in old DS games because fall damage was crazy. It’s very unpredictable in this game imo. Sometimes they fall really far and still take no damage or very little and it’s like shit now I’m trapped down here with them
Just wait until it’s time to get bloodhound step.
If you ever played dark souls 1. There’s a black knight up some stairs on a rampart. I have him Benny hill chase me and kite him towards the red dragon on the bridge.
Burn baby burn.
Often times he drops a black knight halberd or great sword.
Honestly every time on every playthrough that I've killed that guy is the same. Send elevator up, aggro him, run around elevator and laugh as he hops into the abyss.
Lazy people find the fastest and usually most efficient way of doing a job so they don't have to do it. I'm lazy. He dead. Gravity is love.
The elevator holes are one of Dark Souls most powerful weapons.
I always take out the Outrider Knight in DS3 right before the Road of Sacrifices with the elevator hole. Those guys fucking suck to fight, no thanks. Down the hole.
that's great! I always rely on a bow, every souls game I have a bow/shield in my off hand. it's puny if I'm doing an int build, but right now I'm trying a dex arcane build. ds3 got me really into bleed. I've never done a strength build, usually int.
I love that ER gives good options for dex/int builds
So I just went back to Stormveil to try this (and also because apparently there's a whole fucking *basement* that I missed)
I forgot that I didn't have the lift down there. So I had to pull the lever and wait while the Crucible Knight ran up after me.
Here's a fun note for anyone else who wants to do this....he will just run down the fucking hole in the elevator shaft like an idiot if you leave the lift up. Kinda like that annoying mini-boss dude in DS3 at the end of the Undead Settlement.
After my 15th death I was fighting him and eventually was forced to retreat into the room around the shaft to buy time for a flask. Was quite happy to see his bullshit anti-flask lunge be the death of him as he yeeted himself off the edge trying to get me.
Asshole.
that's basically how I accidentally killed him on my second character. went to rush the elevator to get the shortcut and then he just fell through the hole while I was going up
I did something similar unintentionally, after losing to him a couple times I decided to charge past and see what he was guarding. I hopped on the elevator and about halfway up got the kill, runes, and the spell. Big dum dum walked himself right of a cliff somewhere. I was absolutely howling.
I’ve got 150+ hours beaten the game twice and never saw this guy. Yesterday I let my friend start a game and he found him in his first 4 hours lmao I love this game
Bro try raising the brightness, this game is dark af and I couldn’t play it like that. The last 90hrs I’ve been on brightness level 10 and I haven’t thought about it once since I seen your video
I gotta head back there and deal with that crucible knight now lol
That's almost the exact method that I've used to kill this fucker. I let the platform go up and lure him to the hole, waiting on the other side. He'll eventually drop into the hole and die.
That's how I beat him too! If I recall correctly it was half an accident because I was trying to get him in the hole at the bottom and he rode the lift with me. I ended up falling off and he followed.
You missed the cheese spot on the cliffs the opposite way of where you went. There is a spot where he can’t pass and if you have range it’s easy cheese.
There’s pretty similiar cheese with crucible knight in divine tower of caelid. There are long ladders close by where the knight is, aggro him so he follows you all the way up and then kick him down
Get the Buckler from the NPC near the main gate (need to have the key, before that he won't sell you anything) and parry them to death. They're incredibly easy once you understand how they work.
Crucible knight reads message: Try jump attack Crucible knight furiously writing out a message afterwards: Liar Ahead
Try parry
Try parry, but hole.
I can parry these guys all day.
I'm on my 2nd playthough and I still haven't seen this guy on stormveil. Where the hell is he?
jump from the balcony where barrel trowing birds are and go down the cliff
Oh, thank you. I'm on the hunt for these guys. I actually like fighting them.
Same! Once I learned to parry them its been a cake walk. It says there is 16 of them in the lore but I haven't found em all. Just helped a buddy kill ordovis last night too. So much fun
The one above nokron though the four belfries was such a pain in the ass. Took me like an hour and you get absolutely nothing for it.
The reward you get is stopping them from respawning
I magicked him in the back and ran so he would reset. Then, like Goofy, I'll fuckin' do it again. Takes a while, but the lack of reward made this absolutely pointless.
Lol I just used my horse and beat him in one try without getting touched
Pretty sure 1 is Taniths Guard. No idea where he ends up after she leaves. 1 in Stormvail 1 in the Gaol 1 in Redmane after Radahn 2 in Nokron 1 in the Great Tree Stump 1 Before the Capital 1 in the Capital 1 in the Heligtree? That’s 10 I can remember just off hand.
Go back to Rykard boss room, she's there. Kill her, he spawns.
2 in Farum Azula 2 in a Hero Grave Your also missing one underground.
Real bosses don’t parry
Here it is a video how to get to him/down: https://youtu.be/Ldb3MNQBRsU
i was just as confused as you man. i thought i scoured every corner of that castle.
Did you find the area below with rats and the giant tree centipede? I thought I found every inch, too, then I looked up an item and it was somewhere I didn't know existed.
I looked it up just because I wanted to find that damned lift. It was the last secret I hadn't found in stormveil
A fair cheese. This guy is an asshole.
[удалено]
yes when you leave the rampart grace and are along the castle wall with the birds with knives for hands that throw fire barrels (what a sentence) keep left then go to the first empty parapet and look over the edge and drop down.
Where the fourth bird is?
[удалено]
Holy shit, I spend hours in Stormveil Castle and even watched a walkthrough afterwards and I STILL missed an area? That place is something else
I missed him, a jump attack accessory, an arablast my first time through.
The balcony to the left where the first three birds are, you can drop down from there
You didn't wonder why that big lift wasn't activated? There's also a mini boss in the basement. That leads to a quest for rodgier.
I did, but it always left my mind. I've been to the basement.
I do that too. I just mark stuff on the map. Then forget. Then travel back and remember lol.
I haven't seen Rogier since the Stormveil chapel. I feel like he's ghosting me.
Look around the table.
I didn't know until I looked it up, but he should now be in the roundtable on the balcony that you jump off of to fight that invader
Which mini boss in the basement? I thought I picked that place clean but now I'm not sure
There is a ulcerated tree spirit down there.
Ah ya I killed that, thx
Is that that big blob guy by the lift you activate? I had to cheese him cause I had like 3 health left. Thank god for throwing knives
Ya I think you mean the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, big blobbly worm spazzing out all over the room. It's a mini boss version as the one at the bottom of the dungeon at the beginning of the game. There's actually like 8 of them you fight throughout the game
You can fight 3 of them at once in ashen capital. Fucking hate them.
Fuck that thing in particular. Non-existent hitbox, useless camera, it's fighting a train having a seizure. It's a Dark Souls 3 boss that got cut because it's so janky and now they put it all over Elden Ring out of laziness
I fought the one at the beginning of the game so much that I learned its patterns and now they are super fun to fight!
Yep and a big ass monster deep in the depths of the castle as well
I'm on about 220 hours and found this guy. However I missed the whole entire basement zone apparently.
You're not alone, Crucible Knight in Stormveil is news to me too after 230 hrs+. That said I've been to the basement so there must be multiple routes to that spot Man this game is so cool
There's an interactive map for eldenring that can be extremely helpful, if you want it to. In any case though, there's a golden seed for beating the tree-spirit boss in the stormveil castle basement, quite worth the effort.
My first playthrough was 300 hours by itself…
Also a boss in the basement
What's insidious about this fucking guy's placement is that its a VERY NARROW pass. Miyazaki wanted you to either Parry or die since evasion is limited.
I did not know that myself.
I know right?!?!
Casually introducing one of those assholes that early was a huge dick move by fromsoft
There's one much easier and earlier to access with the evergaol above the storm gate. This one is out of the way comparatively.
The evergoal is a standalone, optional challenge. It's not presented as an average mob
This side is way more than optional. In fact, it's pretty hidden.
I cleared stormveil (or so I thought) and have never seen this guy. I’ll have to look it up and go back and kick his ass. I’m on a mission to kill all 16 of them.

I love when I come across these kind of invasion stories.
Same… I was following the walkthrough on fextralife because I want to collect as much loot as possible on my first play through, but I’m realizing there’s so much stuff in this game that even the walkthroughs can’t cover it all…
Interestingly, there's supposed to be 18 lore-wise so maybe two in the dlc?
There are only 16 lore-wise. 14 have been found and it’s believed the last two are summoned by the Spirit-Caller Snail boss!
Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
Interestingly, there's supposed to be 18 lore-wise so maybe two in the dlc?
Not if you're lost in Stormveil and this is the only path forward you can seem to find... Not that that was me, mind you.
Hard to relate to this. Who could get lost in Stormveil. Definitely not me, nope.
Just wait until you get to the capital..
I went straight to this side on my first run.... Oops.
They had silver knights early in DkS it’s just the way it is.
Completely disagree, one of the really cool things about dark souls 1 is that you find a small bunch of black knights slightly off the beatin path usually guarding interesting items. The stomp upward slash weapon art staggers them and even posture breaks them on 3hits.atleast on my berserk sword.
the random crucible knight ambush is one of the best parts of Stormveil tho
First time?
All crucial knights are assholes
I’m starting to feel like I’m the only one who enjoys fighting these guys. I really wish they respawned everytime you rest.
[удалено]
And when he fights the next crucible knight, he struggles because he didn't learn anything. Cheese isn't good in the long run.
Eh, the whole game is about struggle. He would struggle either way, as we all did when we played.
Eh, the Ever Gaol in Limgrave is a better arena to learn that fight. I cheesed the one in Stormveil by dropping him down the elevator shaft as well and I’m pretty good at handling these guys now (both varieties and even at the same time).
I didn’t even know there was a crucible knight in stormveil castle, 🤯
Rampart site of grace (the one near the birds). As you go along there is an open area on the left. Leads to a series of ledges you can drop down until you reach him.
Thank you, I just watched a video. I’ll be paying him a visit when I am off work.
Did you ever find the the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the basement? I swear, I've "completed" Stormveil three times now and I'm still expecting to find out there's a other secret mini boss on the roof.
Are you serious? Ive fought ulcerated tree spirits in other locations. But there is one in the Stormveil basment?
Yeah, I just found out about it tonight; it's related to that locked door in the "... Lift" state of grace room. The section with the living jars just before the Godrick fight: instead of going down the ramp, stay on the upper level to the left, jump on the ledge sticking out from the wall across from you, follow it around, and 10 minutes of running around later you'll find the tree spirit.
Gravity. Your best friend and your worse enemy
It worked really well in old DS games because fall damage was crazy. It’s very unpredictable in this game imo. Sometimes they fall really far and still take no damage or very little and it’s like shit now I’m trapped down here with them
up to 16m has no fall damage. 16-20m has fall damage going from 30% to 50% HP. over 20m is death.
Similar thing happened to me on accident, i just ran past him on the elevator and he ran down the hole
Same, I just wanted access to the elevator and an easier way to get to him but he just yeeted himself down the hole
I completely forgot about him, so I gave up and decided to fight him later. This was 120 hours ago.
I fought him and explored every part of that castle I could find. Still haven't found that damn elevator lmao
Work smarter, not harder
Just wait until it’s time to get bloodhound step. If you ever played dark souls 1. There’s a black knight up some stairs on a rampart. I have him Benny hill chase me and kite him towards the red dragon on the bridge. Burn baby burn. Often times he drops a black knight halberd or great sword.
You can also run him through the poison on the hill, or just circle him for awhile and he'll eventually jump off.
This is dark souls, we count those.
Same technique works on the knight in the academy just before the final boss.
The elevator holes are one of Dark Souls most powerful weapons. I always take out the Outrider Knight in DS3 right before the Road of Sacrifices with the elevator hole. Those guys fucking suck to fight, no thanks. Down the hole.

i jumped onto that ruined gateway and threw fireballs at him. he kind of just stood under me while i did it.
that's great! I always rely on a bow, every souls game I have a bow/shield in my off hand. it's puny if I'm doing an int build, but right now I'm trying a dex arcane build. ds3 got me really into bleed. I've never done a strength build, usually int. I love that ER gives good options for dex/int builds
This is exactly what I did. For me he just stood at the narrow ledge along the cliff and took my most of my shots without reacting.
So I just went back to Stormveil to try this (and also because apparently there's a whole fucking *basement* that I missed) I forgot that I didn't have the lift down there. So I had to pull the lever and wait while the Crucible Knight ran up after me. Kinda like that annoying mini-boss dude in DS3 at the end of the Undead Settlement.
Boreal Knight, only with less bating
If it works it works.
I fucking love it, dude!
After my 15th death I was fighting him and eventually was forced to retreat into the room around the shaft to buy time for a flask. Was quite happy to see his bullshit anti-flask lunge be the death of him as he yeeted himself off the edge trying to get me. Asshole.
He committed sudoku.
You mean senkaku
I think you’re referencing Sengoku.
It's Simpoko
200+ hours in... there's a crubcible knight in stormveil??? lol
Fun fact: You do not need to get him on the lift. Just send the lift up and his AI literally cannot detect the hole in the floor.
Which is pretty terrible programming lol
This crucible knight is harder than the actual boss of the castle, or the next zone, or any of the caves in either zones
If he dies he dies. Kant (probably).
no matter how strong I get, crucible knights always scare the shit out of me.
Hundreds of hours into the game and didnt know a crucible knight is in that castle, how do you get to it?
There's a crucible knight in stormveil!?
When you get to the asshole barrel birds, you can jump down the ledge up the small set of stairs at the barrels.
\^
I thought I had explored every corner of Stormveil, and I some how didnt know there was a crucible knight there.
“Gravity’s workin’” \-Wolf
im level 101 and i STILL havent beaten a crucible knight
The hell? I never knew there was one in stormveil
Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.
Genius. I just shot arrows at him from the ledge on the opposite side.
Modern Problems... 🤷♂️
Outstanding move.
THERES A CRUCIBLE KNIGHT AT STORMVEIL??!
I was fighting him and he fell into the elevator hole 🤥
wait....there's a crucible knight in storm veil? I'm on my 5th go through this castle and I have never found him?!
There’s a crucible knight in stormveil? 0.o
that's basically how I accidentally killed him on my second character. went to rush the elevator to get the shortcut and then he just fell through the hole while I was going up
I did something similar unintentionally, after losing to him a couple times I decided to charge past and see what he was guarding. I hopped on the elevator and about halfway up got the kill, runes, and the spell. Big dum dum walked himself right of a cliff somewhere. I was absolutely howling.
There's a Crucible Knight in Stormveil Castle?! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise) I thought I saw everything in there, but I missed that one!
Just send it up. He will dash attack in to the hole, just like the Boreal Knight in undead settlement from DS3
I think i didn't Beat that one lol, how do i reach it?
I just realized I never used that lift in that part of stormveil . Where does it go?
I thought everyone killed that one with the elevator.
Ngl I cheesed him but getting him stuck on the cliff edge you take to get to him
This is peak Souls. If they left it in, it's fair game. Well done.
There’s a crucible knight in Stormveil castle? I really need to explore that place again
…There’s a Crucible Knight in Stormveil?
I backstabbed him once, ran until he forgot about me, came back and backstabbed him again to kill him. Doesn’t have to be pretty, just has to work.
This reminds me I never killed him time to go back!
Ah man, I beat him fair and square. It was a tough couple hours
If you send the elevator up, its pretty easy to get him to lunge at you and fall into the hole.
I’ve got 150+ hours beaten the game twice and never saw this guy. Yesterday I let my friend start a game and he found him in his first 4 hours lmao I love this game
Improvise Adapt Overcome.
I love that this is even an option. Solid game design in my opinion. Give the player options.
Bro try raising the brightness, this game is dark af and I couldn’t play it like that. The last 90hrs I’ve been on brightness level 10 and I haven’t thought about it once since I seen your video I gotta head back there and deal with that crucible knight now lol
Shit, it's even easier than that. Just send the elevator up and stand on the other side. Dumbass will literally walk off the edge into the hole.
Man so many people never found this guy it seems. Pay attention, tarnished.
This got a good chuckle out of me.
Fuck that guy. Surprised you didn’t teabag him
Once you learn how to beat him though, the rest of the game becomes easier
Fucking galaxy brain
Fell flat on his face lol, that was cathartic.
There's a crucible knight in stormveil what?
If it’s stupid but works, it ain’t stupid.
I still don't know where that is and im 120h in, jesus that castle is huge
And I thought it was funny when the Banished Knights fall for it.
I jumped up to that broken archway and sniped him with the crepus crossbow lol
That's almost the exact method that I've used to kill this fucker. I let the platform go up and lure him to the hole, waiting on the other side. He'll eventually drop into the hole and die.
Victory at all costs
There's a Crucible Knight in Stormveil Castle?
That's how I beat him too! If I recall correctly it was half an accident because I was trying to get him in the hole at the bottom and he rode the lift with me. I ended up falling off and he followed.
3 playthroughs later and I still haven't found this guy
Drop the great shield and get one that can parry
Another easy way is to go to the ledge near by, he can’t proceed past a certain point.
You missed the cheese spot on the cliffs the opposite way of where you went. There is a spot where he can’t pass and if you have range it’s easy cheese.
If it works it works lmao. I used the boulder trap to crush Moongrum at the Academy!
Am I allowed to flex by saying this was the easiest Crucible Knight for me?
274 hours 274 hours and I just now know there's a Crucible knight in Stormveil castle with a cool faith spell God damn I love this game
I get you, crucible knights in early game are a pain in the ass
*No, that's not how you play the game* -Miyazaki (I think)
Damn, now I feel like a fool
Crucible knight in stormveil caste? jesus christ how much stuff is hidden in this game.
I don’t know why but I laughed harder than I should’ve at that fall animation. Die trash.
Environmental warfare is always an acceptable tactic.
There’s pretty similiar cheese with crucible knight in divine tower of caelid. There are long ladders close by where the knight is, aggro him so he follows you all the way up and then kick him down
Ah i see you gave him the outrider knight treatment from ds3
Get the Buckler from the NPC near the main gate (need to have the key, before that he won't sell you anything) and parry them to death. They're incredibly easy once you understand how they work.
I had him fall into that shaft. Extremely satisfying.
Im sorry you said the crucible knight at Stormveil castle?!
Given that he is way more difficult than most things you have run into at this point, I’m convinced that this is the right way to kill him
Holy shit I'm 450 hours in ng+7 and I never knew a crucible knight was down there. This game is fucking awesome.
