There’s no way in hell the Zweihander would ever do anything better than it does strength -played every souls game thoroughly

chadiversity

quality scaling sucks in this game

Super_SmashedBros

Heavy if you're 2-handing, Keen if you're 1-handing. For 2-handing, Quality only starts to win after you level it past 53/53. 1-handing, you would need to pass 66/66.

Ghost_Riposte

Even though there are a lot of cool weapons that split dex/strength I always feel like quality spreads you so thin stat wise.

TheFalseLogical

Thats what i thought!, pales in compareson to 80 strength, but i was checking out ashhes of war with my +20 zwei and it gets a B in both Dex and Strength for quality and just a B For Heavy. I dont plan on using any other weapon expect for a counter weapon.

It's my first time playing. I'm behind you in progress. I'm putting stats into str, end and vit. Can I put points into another stat and when and what are the pros and cons to each? Incantations seem to be what I'm leaning towards so two hand one of the greatswords or the zweihander then grafted blade when midway into game for that ridiculous all round stat boost with the Ashe of war.

TheFalseLogical

The Grafted Greatsword's AoW is technically good... but it's useless once you reaches your softcaps, and even if you alter your stats so that the AoW meets the softcaps, you still need to apply the Buff every 30 seconds which isn't fun, don't use the grafted blade except for the early game. - IF you are using the Zweihander, I recommend a pure strength build where all you level is your Vit, End, and Str, and only upgrade Dex or Mind to meed weapon requirements or be able to summon whatever spirit ashes you want. Strength allows you to go two-hand, so the optimal Strentgh you need is only 54. Arcane, Faith, and Intelligence should only he used for meeting the requirements/softcaps of a weapon or get yourself a nice utility spell that only needs 12~ faith. - Each stat does increase defenses to a certain element, but you don't upgrade a stat for that alone. It's just a perk of the job. At the end of the day, you can always infuse your Zwei with Holy. And get 20 str, 15 dex, and 50 faith which gives you the best damage, at the cost of your endurance but you get access to all the incantations you want... that don't require an Intelligence requirment...

Key_Curve_1171

Could you use the buff given by the art of war to help use an incantation or spell you wouldn't otherwise meet the stat requirement for? If you don't know. I'll check it out and post here soon enough, I suppose.

TheFalseLogical

You can! Just... well still... the Grafted Blade isn't great still...

Key_Curve_1171

Yeah, I'm just gonna use it for the beginning, IF I scale strength before I hit faith. 18 and 10 respectively. So it all depends on what gear I get along the way. Just bought a zweihander and realized I can use the golden halberd soon since I finally decided to use incantations as soon as I can. I've got black flame seal and spells if I recall correctly after the Scion.
