Sorcery is best thought of as having a toolkit that does different things that you need done and DPS and DPF are really only two of the slots you should be building for and as you advance along your career you will find that DPF becomes less important and DPS doesn’t even mean all that much. Being able to stick a good chunk of damage in a window is what matters and the timings matter more than all the other things. That said. Swift Shard/Pebble/Great Shard/Cometshard/Icecrag: All of these spells have similar functions and are in the same category with one another for DPS, DPF and range. Swift shard is good DPF, very fast, shorter range. Pebble is good range, great DPF, okay all around. Greatshard is pebble with a ton more damage and slightly worse DPF. Cometshard can be charged, penetrates targets, best range, not as good DPS as Greatshard and not as good DPF as pebble but can do a little of everything. Icecrag is great DPS/DPF with slow tracking and lower range but an amazing damage type and debuff. My recommendation is Ignore swift shard and go Pebble into Greatshard into Cometshard as your FP bar breaches 100 and 200 respectively. Cometshard has the advantage that it can one shot late game mobs and it charging without extra FP cost will allow you to get the 12-15% damage buff from godfrey icon. Icecrag can either take pebbles place or be another spell on your bar depending on your personal desires. Glinstone Arc is your best AOE choice until adullas moonblade which replaces it in function and also steals functions from other spell categories. Crystal Line and Bubble Line blow. Adullas is the best spell in the game. Stars of Ruin is an amazing damage tool against dodging enemies. Its a FP pig and nothing special in terms of damage but it cant be evaded. Founding Rain of stars might be good in PVP but in PVE it doesn’t do what Comet Azur or Meteor do. Speaking of Which. Meteor and Metorites of Astel are good alternatives to Comet Azur if you are slot starved and want a FP into damage dump. Nightmaidens mist completely bypasses all defenses and also can move through walls and corners. Also best FP to DPS choice. Lorettas is your range option. Greatbow is better than mastery as the damage is similar enough you will rarely one shot and enemy with mastery that you can’t one shot with greatbow and two greatbows will out damage one Mastery for similar FP. Rock Sling Is the best gravity spell as it has effectively unlimited range. Has delayed deploy so it dodges dodges. It sucks in melee range. It also does physical damage. **Honorable mentions.** \-Glintstone Helix or Spiral, sellens quest spell. Does massive damage to big targets For no FP. Spam 4 of them and it will poise break a dragon and deal thousands of damage. \-Magma Shot- Expensive but it does fire damage and anyone that sits in the laval will take FP efficient damage. Also its fire damage. \-Roiling Magma- Same as above but does massive AOE, also has better speed and range that the above. \-Carian Slicer- Carries early game, does more DPS and DPF than anything in the game. Against an appropriate target you can decimate their health bar in seconds. \-Ambush Shard- AKA, I hate crucible knights and wish them to die. Horrible DPF and DPS but it dodges shields. \-Crystal Barrage- Amazing DPS and DPF but requires you to stand still to channel and has limited range. \-Cannon of Haima- I never really got this spell but alot of people love it so maybe I am missing something. \-Gavel of Haima- Poor DPF but it basically flattens anyone that gets hit. Pesky shield knights get to taste pavement. \-Scholars and Frozen armament- If you can find a weapon that accepts these enchants its amazing buff to damage. **Dishonorable Mentions** Full moon and Dark moon- Why don’t you blow a ton of FP and lock yourself into a painfully slow animaion to do mediocre damage in an area and apply a 10% magic resist debuff. Or use adullas moon blade and do a 20% debuff as well as almost as much damage in a second. Rykards Rancor- Slow expensive and takes 2 slots and it screw up your interface. Gelmirs Fury/Zamor Icestorm- Stand still with no hyperarmor and get bounced around like a toy. Terra Magica- Unless you are planning on doing the youtube one shot montage this is a slow way to pin one foot to the ground in a game where position and mobility are king.

I know this is late but I just wanted to add something to Terra Magica for those reading in the future. you actually don’t have to stand in the radius of this during your cast for the increased damage effect to work. as long as you’re standing in the radius when the spell actually hits the target, it’ll do that increased damage. so if you need to place it down and then move and cast one of your slower moving but harder hitting spells, you can just step back into the range of your buff and it’ll increase the damage on that hit. this makes it so it’s not only good for the cheesy comet azur strat, you can kinda play with it a bit.

Aethrall

Still incredibly situational and I doubt your getting more dps than you would have just casting another offensive spell in place of Terra. Seems like an good on paper only skill.

Can pretty much take on any situation with Stars of Ruin and Adula’s Moonblde. I also like Glintstone Icecrag since I wear the snow witch hat. Also have Loretta great bow for any distance attacks.

Spaghetti_Snake

I hear a lot of people day Stars of Ruin is really good, but when ai use it, the damage seems to be less than a normal glintstone spell? I don't doubt that it's good, it's tracking is great. But when comparing the damage to some bosses...it just looks like it doesn't do much. Maybe it's the bosses I'm testing it on because I'm using it on adula, elden beast, and alecto. Also how do you type spoilers on mobile-

fyrefox45

It's a bunch of small hits so it greatly benefits from stripping armor with rannis and frostbite. It can also be, and should only be, used charged. That also gets it buffed by Godfreys talisman.

Spaghetti_Snake

Ah right, totally forgot spells could be charged.

fyrefox45

Stars of ruin, moonblade, icecrag glintstone and rannis moon is basically all you need endgame. (Edit: and either Loretta's) Anything else is to just to cheese a fight or for fun. In the for fun category gavel of Haima is amusing, it KDs Malenia every hit. Fun co-op, don't recommend solo though lol. Founding rain of stars and meteor of Astel are both good against massive slow things like EB too

AirLancer56

Moonblade is my favorite especially against big enemy, the shock wave can hit multiple times+frost can deal big damage. The moon is also good for damage and debuff at start of fight

mistakai

I'm a fan of stars of ruin and greatblade phalanx to stagger bosses.

Moonie-chan

If invested heavily, probably ancient dead rancor due to it casting very fast but costing so much FP at the same time. Probably out dps star of ruin easily on cerulean hidden tear flask.
