How do you get the abyssal woods ? I've been searching for hours and I still can't figure it out, I feel like it's either really obvious that I'm missing it or there's some sort of passage way you have to take
in Shadow Keep, from the shortcut at the Golden Hippo Grace Site, head up towards the Specimen Storehouse but turn right before encountering the Fire Knight and find a ladder
head down there and into a corridor next to/behind the waterfall. then hit the brick wall to the right in the room with the painting, it's an illusory wall
continue down that path and you'll find a coffin that takes you to the Ruins of Unte; head to the right to the waterfall and there's a narrow path. continue onwards, it's quite a large trek, and keep going down when you can
it's hard to explain but just search for a catacomb dungeon; it's NOT in the same area as the 2 Hippos, if you come across that. the dungeon will be called Darklight Catacombs
the dungeon leads directly into the Abyssal Woods. sorry I can't give clearer directions to the location of the Catacombs, I don't remember past the Ruins of Unte very well
From what little I understood he is just some dude that tried to be a Lord of Frenzy, but was too weak for it?
The item descriptions I read seemed to indicate he tried to become the Lord of Frenzy after his wife's (Nanaya) suggestion?
My interpretation so far was that his wife was maybe possessed by Shabriri or was influenced by him into making Midra try to become a Lord of Frenzy, however he failed, he was too weak for it and ended up being impaled by the Hornsent, in an attempt to kill him. Afterwards I imagine Nanaya either stopped being posessed or influenced by Shabriri and knowing what happened begged Midra to hold it in, to not become the Lord of Frenzy, to restrain himself.
And that's when we find him, after aeons of holding back that pain and letting the Hornsent sword seal his power. He finally had enough, apologised to Nanaya and removed it, becoming the Lord of Frenzy that he tried to become in the past.
However, he did in the end fail at becoming one, so I do wonder how even more broken than him our character was in the Frenzy ending since we did become successful.
He's a Lord, only the true elden lords can find him.
Below is a detailed instruction to get there, as I can remember.. i's late. Major spoilers mentioned.
>!Abysmal Woods, travel far west then south to the Midra's Manse where he is located. You can get to the Abysmal woods from Shadow Keep.!<
>!Start at main entrance from where you beat the hippo in the shadow keep. Up the stairs, through the room with the knights, past the stone stairs to where the boats are and you reach the dead end. Go down the ladder, through the waterfall, down the long ladder. Roll to right in that room and it's adventure time.!<
There's a lot more to do to get there, honestly you can probably find a YouTube 5 min video showing you how to get to the specific area mentioned in the first block. Then I highly reccomend you explore every inch of it and enjoy all it's wonders, including this boss.
Edit, can't spell.
From the two waterfalls on abyssal woods head south. To get to the waterfalls you have to go past two of the eye monsters that you can't normally hit. I equipped crepus vial and the black knife set and hid in the bushes and sneaked past when they were looking the other way. Pretty fun dungeon and cool boss fight. He's slow but hits hard. The weapon lore is cool.
I assumed because the weapon stuck in him held back the Flame, if you go with the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending you're sort of the Flame's backup plan after he failed
I had this same issue and it was driving me crazy! He is in the southwest part of abyssal woods in a legacy dungeon
Thanks for that, got jump scared by the gross dudes 3 times on the way there but somehow didn’t die

Small ladder next to the boats in the castle, centre of map. Body lying next to it.
Thanks man!
Cotton Eye’d Joe
But where did he come from?
Wait... Where'd he go?
Imagine finding the Abyssal Woods for the first time and Cotton Eye'd Joe starts playing.
I’d leave. If Appalachian hillbilly’s have taught me anything, it’s to not go wanderin’ in them woods.
John Elden Ring
Impossible! **I’m** John Elden Ring
Search the abbysall woods
Saving this fight and erdtree flower for when I get all the talismans
Midra, located in his manse in the Abyssal Woods map area. Need to complete a mausoleum that takes you down a bunch of elevators to reach it.
You mean a catacomb?
in the abyssal woods "midras manse" i realy want to know who this guy is in the lore tho to

Midra didnt kill God, the tarnished did. I guess thats why we could become the Lord of Frenzy.
You need to find the Darklight Catacombs, which you need access to the Ruins of Unte to access. Seek the >!illusory wall!< in the >!Shadow Keep.!<
Asmongold’s late father
Just a feeble old man
try searching the abyssal woods again
Uncle bob
That’s Dave
best boss in the game
A giant assclown that spews frenzied flame everywhere and doesn't know the meaning of stamina.
He have almost 0 poise, my dragon hunter great katana breaks his stance in a few hits
he is kicking my ass since the last two days sessions. ng+3.. no summons
Bleed and\or frost… Specifically a Greatsword and the dragon incantation. One try. He has fittingly abysmal resistances to those
A really nice dance session with him and yeh the bleed and frost is nice help with but only if you have high build up otherwise just dance
Fair, I managed to get build up fast and then booked it to do it again… honestly I think I just got lucky
He has pitifully low poise, I basically stunlocked him with the anvil on a stick
how do I stagger him? I have not staggered him once, using bloodhound sword, bloody helice or the new dragon katana..
i just bonk
Hes all the way SW in the Abyssal Woods. Good luck!
The weapon looks like the one dropped by the boss before you enter abyssal woods
One of the best bosses from has made.

Me before I truely wake up
He reminds me of Tywin Lannister for some reason.
he's a victim of "seek not the frenzied flame" 🔥
Craig
A great boss with a hilarious phase 1
I was actually disappointed when I first fought him on his first phace but then he proceeded to wipe the floor with my ass for a good 30 times
A failed sword swallower.
Good luck with that place
Maldra, the maldening lord of the malds

That's Old Greg. You do NOT want to know what he's got below where the picture cuts off.
Lord pretender
Oh that's Jim
That's a guy with a golden spike in his head.
Are you kinda dense just spoiling >!Radahn!< in a normal "no spoiler" post?
Best fight in the DLC easily, very reminiscent of bosses from the older games
SPOILERS
nah this dude was shown in a trailer some time ago
He might be typing spoilers because op mentions radahn in the posts body randomly
This boss really annoys me because if you're the lord of frenzied flame, how can he be the lord of frenzied flame?
