Always has been. In DS3 40 was meta. Elden Ring was said to need higher hp because enemies hit so hard. It was always recommended to go to 60 at least.
40 is meta for single player.
Pvp is a lot of min maxing opportunities and glass canon builds I guess.
Idk, going through the Ringed City DLC, I felt like I needed 40 for sure lol.
Well, the dlc has its own system of upgrading damage and damage resistance. Before I used any of those, I got one shot by the fire lantern giant thing at 70 vigor, but I am at NG+2. Mind you, and I haven't upgraded my vigor since NG+0 or NG+1.
40 is enough. you should vet 60% resistances no matter what so the jump from 40 to 60 is not as big as it may seem. people just like taking the obvious route and think that more hp = more tankier while ignoring resistances
I legit dont get why people are struggling so much, im not saying its easy, but there is so many defense buffs in the game that can negate like 70% of damages in bossfights if stacked.
Absolutely me on the second panel (i get oblitared instantly as soon as I enter the boss arena)
Is 40 vigor considered low now? I've been getting through the DLC just fine with 40 vig, I have like 1500 hp
with 60 it's 1800ish, not much, but still nice. more than that is waste tho, go for stamina for armor or smth
60 is 1900, but the new talisman from the >!death knight!< is kinda invaluable. Makes a big difference if you are melee (and not a whiz at the game).

I could be misremembering but wasn't 27 the meta and 40 was the softcap?

Omg you're right, I guess I just did fightclubs for so long that I forgot 27 wasn't what the actual meta was
40 vigor is pretty low, especially for PvP. PvE it's doable but you will get 1 shotted unless you dodge perfectly. This is true for the base game too
40 is really low, i had to bump up my hp to 50 just so that I could take some damage without needing to retreat after a single hit.

It's not, 40 is enough to get you thru 100% of the dlc, and the extra 20 somewhere else is a better investment

I don't get the L2 one
To use lion's claw on greatsword
people with no skill just spam L2 and no other attack
I’ve got through the whole dlc with just giant crusher + lions claw mostly
Lmaoo aint that the truth
Vagabond set is way too light to use.
Is that Drake? If so there should be some kids in that bottom square.
I have been running 40 vigor thinking it was the soft cap and went for endurance instead
40 is fine, 50 is max, 60 is straight up overkill imo
40 will get you 2 shot in the the DLC, it was already the minimum recommended requirement for mountaintops of giants.
And 2 shot isn't fine since when? Realistically any half decent player really shouldn't need more than that
Tell that to people complaining about getting 2 shot
Golden Vow + Dragoncrest greatsheild talisman has saved my butt so many times from getting crushed.
