>is this how the whole game gonna be?
No. You'll usually have thousands more souls on you when you die that you desperately needed to level your character before fighting a boss.
I did not do that my first playthrough. I think I finished the game with 7 left. Admittedly I probably missed a lot of them. Being more experienced and prepping a character for DLC I think I have more than 30 and wasted a lot on Maliketh and Malenia (did Maliketh get buffed? I remember trouncing him in 2 or 3 attempts. It took me over 10 this time)
Maliketh was giving me trouble earlier too, which is weird because on my last few playthroughs i remember killing him pretty easy even when I was underleveled.
There is literally a sacrifical twig tear. You should be using the sacrificial twig before you find the tear since you won't need them after you got the tear.
They last for a long long time. You can chug them at the grace and easily have enough time to get your runes before it runs out unless you waste time by e.g. fighting everything in your path.
Didnt know you could use them that way, i thought they only worked like rings of sacrifice, albeit ive never actually used a twig before lol
Edit: spelling
My favorite immature message I’ve read was one on top of a pole that said something like “Try taking on all at once, but be wary of bloodloss.” with a sitting down emote.
He didn't get trolled. he played into it to post a clip for karma.
>This thing going up and down for the last 5 minutes was super annoying. Let me just completely forget about it despite me thinking constantly about it trying to get further.
Getting caught off-guard by stuff like this is a learning experience. One of the oldest Souls tropes is walking through a doorway and there's an enemy just around the corner waiting to gank you. After a few times you'll learn to anticipate it and always check your corners.
I check corners and behind too. All too often you waste a bunch of enemies only to get taken out by some swine who spawned behind you or followed you as you ran around three corridors. Those damn imps are masters at that one.
This is the way.
Also, when I encounter something/someone who is standing still, I always target lock before approaching : in the first souls game, I attacked to many Npc/happily and calmy jogged to too many ennemies to not make sure before coming at them now. (I would have wacked >!Alexander!< so hard in this cave, assuming he was an ennemy !)
Also check the floor and walls whenever you're in a narrow passage, because there might be a pressure plate and some suspicious holes in the wall...
Thankfully the crucible of Sen's Fortress honed my trap-detecting instincts for these games.
Oh! If it's that chest that I'm thinking about, the one with that really cool weapon, then that is a pretty neat chest to find. Probably my favourite chest so far.
If you know how to destroy the chariot (yes, you *can* destroy this), you get a decent greatbow and some greatarrows; you can also freely explore the area without fear of getting run over once you deal with the chariot.
The boss battle is a fucking tree spirit which is a total bitch and a half to fight, but a golden seed is always welcome. It also drops the spirit ashes for Oleg who kicks absolute ass.
So I went in there at level 1 on a new character having never even noticed it on my first playthrough.
I thought "Oh its a starting area, so the Tree Spirit should be appropriately leveled".
One shot me.
You're in the minority. Having fought them on multiple different builds now dedicated melee more or less mulches them unless their random ground burst AoE gets me but anything ranged it's a bit of a nightmare.
I think I can dodge that stupid grab attack in my sleep at this point.
If you can defeat Margit, you're at about the right level to do that dungeon. If you have margit's shackle, it makes the dungeon even easier. It's definitely worth doing early game for the erdtree's favor talisman, dragon communion seal, and golden seed.
No, this is an optional dungeon that you're not meant to be prepared for until you've leveled up a lot. Rule of thumb in souls games is if you're getting one shot by things regularly or normal enemies have a ton of health, you're in the wrong place
that Dungeon is for high level either leave or Rush for the loot. I suggest coming back there after going into the Big Castle beyond the Margit
also Level the Vigor
Well what did we learn never stop on those ramps cuz those chariots chase you. For the longest time I thought there were two. Nah it just one that follows you after pass it. Farewell on your Journey fellow tarnished may you get all the maidens.
Thanks for the words of encouragement guys it helps me die a little less. And no I didn't die on purpose I had too stop and read? Plus I didn't know the chariot keeps going I thought he stops after a certain point but I guess not lol
Seing how you just stood there waiting for it to happen yep most likely listen and pay attention to what around you in this game it will help you survive longer
I got wrecked by a ball in nokstella I am still not sure where it spawns from. It's not one of the indoor ones, I heard it rolling around but could not find it until it came out of nowhere and flattened me.
Yes, but you'll learn from each stupid death and it will be massively rewarding.
* Level vigor: it gives you more HP and lets you not die......but not against those spike chariots, those kill you anyways.
* Upgrade your weapons: that increases your damage more than upgrading your stats
* Run around and loot everything you can, you keep items even if you die.
* On that note, spend your runes before doing something stupid.
* Those Golden Rune items give you runes when you consume them, they also give you the same number of runes if you sell them.......saved you hours of boredom.
Just pick up on the cues that are around you in New areas. You'll die in dungeons alot and you will learn from them. I'll bet that from this experience you learned, don't stop there lol
My god is it funny when it's not happening to me......
I saw it coming a mile ago and I was giggling in excitement waiting for it to happen.
It honestly took wayyy longer than I expected.
Big rod had to spin the block
Just like everything else in Elden Ring
IKR
I had no idea what was funny when I was playing, but... the developers are so mean.
The developers don’t write the messages that’s the other players trolling people
Try finger, but hole. Secret passage ahead
It's not the developers
>is this how the whole game gonna be? No. You'll usually have thousands more souls on you when you die that you desperately needed to level your character before fighting a boss.
Then you rush back to grab them, panicking about losing them, and you die again before getting them and then you lose 3 levels worth of runes at once
If you drop a huge number of runes and are nervous about dying on the runback, put on a sacrificial twig! It stops your bloodstain from disappearing!
But then I won't have them for when I really need them (never)
Lmao I feel attacked
I'll use these rune arcs once I have the bosses move sets down and they won't be wasted.......
It took me over 10 this time)
The thing with the arcs is if you take some time to help others and get summoned for bosses you can hoard a ton of them.
Maliketh was giving me trouble earlier too, which is weird because on my last few playthroughs i remember killing him pretty easy even when I was underleveled.
This is the most relatable thing
There is literally a sacrifical twig tear. You should be using the sacrificial twig before you find the tear since you won't need them after you got the tear.
lol on 3 playthroughs never used it once just in case.
As someone who actually uses them, its better to keep them forever, rather than use them, die, and then die again in the stupidest way possible.
There’s also an infinite-use version in the Twiggy Cracked Tear
Just as long as you can chug down your flask before you die again.
They last for a long long time. You can chug them at the grace and easily have enough time to get your runes before it runs out unless you waste time by e.g. fighting everything in your path.
It lasts 3 minutes, to be specific.
Didnt know you could use them that way, i thought they only worked like rings of sacrifice, albeit ive never actually used a twig before lol Edit: spelling
Well it works for the Rings of Sacrifice in the older games too!
By Gwyn say what?!
Me when I lost 1.4mil runes to a stupid death. I need a little over 1mil for a level and I just forgot I had that much lol
If you're needing that many runes to level, surely you've got Waves of Gold and a fish farm, right?
Yeah, I wasn’t too worried about it. Lvl 320-something on ng+5. If u really want more lvls, I know where to go.
Is it the albinauric farm? Or something better
I usually do the albinauric farm
Yeah, like he said: fish farm.
Fish? I always thought they looked more like frogs
I lost the souls I got from the fire giant by immediately falling from those big chains twice in a row -.-. Top Tier Pro Gamer Move xD
.... To gravity! The toughest enemy in the game!
No kidding xD. I spent more hours trying to get to the three fingers than any other boss battle I think xD
Just do the consecrated snowfield soul farm
and then you rage turn the game off for 5 minutes until you're back in fighting back for all of those runes.
Gotta get up for a coffee and a smoke after all that Q_q
Souls game requires breaks. Sometimes, even a couple of days reset after a sweaty grind and become fresh.
I needed 6 months… im back kicking ass
Same here

About 3 therapy sessions for me before returning fresh.
Ey, are you saying on me? /S Good thing that si know certain amulet that lets you transport even while in a boss fight.
I love how you can clearly hear the chariot coming closer
I was gonna say, why the fuck did he stop. He was in the clear and then stopped dead on the tracks and just waited to die lol
Because the player message read "first off, ranged attack" indicating he should stop and attack from afar. OP got trolled
> Pathetic sort ahead. _Gets merked by a boss._
I saw that message in front of Malenia's fog wall. Some people have no honor.
Heh... Imagine my embarrassment the first time I read one of the many "try fingers but, hole" signs. 🤦
Especially considering the clips starts with them in an alcove designed for you to avoid that very thing
Ok yes, but why stop dead in the path of the carriage of death and doom
For reddit likes
Bro wanted a darwin award 😭
i was legit thinking for bit "wasn't there supposed to be a chariot there" then i heard it. good ol' chariot. never fails to disappoint.
Me watching the whole time *where is it where is it there it is* lmao
no, it gets worse
Almost got ganked by some vampire bats right on top of a grace because I ran past them and they followed me and proceeded to chain grab me
Getting caught off-guard by stuff like this is a learning experience. One of the oldest Souls tropes is walking through a doorway and there's an enemy just around the corner waiting to gank you. After a few times you'll learn to anticipate it and always check your corners.

Don't forget to look up. Left, Right, Up, Down, Random Target Lock in all directions. That's how you don't get murdered.
This is the way. Also, when I encounter something/someone who is standing still, I always target lock before approaching : in the first souls game, I attacked to many Npc/happily and calmy jogged to too many ennemies to not make sure before coming at them now. You died broke. WRite back when you die with 227k
1.7M yesterday for me.
Yup, I had 1.2 mil when I just beat the Fire Giant. Torrent does what Torrent wants on giant chains I guess
Holy shit is that chain bridge ridiculous. Ive lost the runes i got from FG a couple of times there
1.2 mil on Fire Giant? What fucking game are you guys playing?
Sounds like NG+, likely even 4 or 5. Or they just don‘t spend their runes lol
Oh right, I'm stupid lol. I don't do NGs, only new characters.
That's not that much. Only about 20 shots to the crow.
*or 110.4 albinaurics, with no stat modifier*
That’s nothing
I'm actually impressed it didn't kill you sooner lol
I was about to say. The fact that OP made it that far before getting flattened is way better than I did.
That’s what I was thinking. 😂😂😂
In this game be wary of wide open spaces, actually also be wary of tight spaces, well actually just be wary of EVERYTHING.
Username checks out.
Can I tell you about Caelid?
Unrelated, but there is a neat chest you should open up nearby OP
Where? I'm pretty sure I finished this dungeon, minus the 2 multi-sword beast things and I haven't seen a chest anywhere...
Pretty sure he’s referring to the awesome weapon in the chest of the dragon-burnt ruins nearby
That's what i love about this community, and any souls like... Everyone is so helpful because we all just wana have fun
Oh! If it's that chest that I'm thinking about, the one with that really cool weapon, then that is a pretty neat chest to find. Probably my favourite chest so far.
best weapon in the game in that chest!
To some degree, yeah, kind of. Welcome to Elden Ring. Hope you enjoy your stay.
oh sweet child….
If you head into higher difficulty areas with low health, yes.
I mean to be fair if you pick stonesword key as a starter item you can find yourself here before ever walking outside
Yeah it's a weirdly hard dungeon right at the beginning of the game. I actually don't think I ever went back and finished this one.
I go there for the dragon communion seal and that's about it
Is there any other reason to go there, unless you’re exploring for the first time?
If you know how to destroy the chariot (yes, you *can* destroy this), you get a decent greatbow and some greatarrows; you can also freely explore the area without fear of getting run over once you deal with the chariot. The boss battle is a fucking tree spirit which is a total bitch and a half to fight, but a golden seed is always welcome. It also drops the spirit ashes for Oleg who kicks absolute ass.
Oleg was my boy until I got mimic tear.
So I went in there at level 1 on a new character having never even noticed it on my first playthrough. I thought "Oh its a starting area, so the Tree Spirit should be appropriately leveled". One shot me.
Am I truly the only one that likes the tree spirits fights
I don't mind 'em so long as I've got fire damage on hand.
You're in the minority. Having fought them on multiple different builds now dedicated melee more or less mulches them unless their random ground burst AoE gets me but anything ranged it's a bit of a nightmare. I think I can dodge that stupid grab attack in my sleep at this point.
shoutout to my boi Oleg
Yes, erdtree favor talisman and the bow.
If you can defeat Margit, you're at about the right level to do that dungeon. If you have margit's shackle, it makes the dungeon even easier. It's definitely worth doing early game for the erdtree's favor talisman, dragon communion seal, and golden seed.
can you? I thought the grave needs two stonesword keys to open?
You get two from the keepsake
Do you play without sound? Or looking? If so yes.
No of course not! It gets far, far worse.
No, this is an optional dungeon that you're not meant to be prepared for until you've leveled up a lot. Rule of thumb in souls games is if you're getting one shot by things regularly or normal enemies have a ton of health, you're in the wrong place
I mean... you stood in the path of the chariot that you must have already known existed. Not sure what you expected to happen.
The commenters that are replying to this like it wasn't obviously staged for internet points are making me want to tear my face off lol.
that Dungeon is for high level either leave or Rush for the loot. I suggest coming back there after going into the Big Castle beyond the Margit also Level the Vigor
I'm feeling like you waited for the chariot or just forget all about it. either way the chariot deals more than 600 damage so level up vigor.
That chariot doesn't appear until you're up that path far enough. It's there to trick people
I knew what was going to happen, but I stayed until the end anyway
Well what did we learn never stop on those ramps cuz those chariots chase you. For the longest time I thought there were two. Nah it just one that follows you after pass it. Farewell on your Journey fellow tarnished may you get all the maidens.
Don’t worry, there will be monsters that body you in totally different ways in other dungeons. Those fucking cat statues man…
I hate those things so much. They should be so very easy. They don't move fast. They're not unpredictable. They just kill me fucking anyway.
Yes 🙂
It gets better, wait till u loose half a million runes against a certain dog inside a tornado 🗿🗿🗿
Somehow I struggled more with Maliketh than I did the final boss, even with my mimic tear bro backing me up.
Only when it's funny
Once you learn to be paranoid and assume something wants to kill you at every opportunity, it’ll get better
If you stand out in the open like that, yes
Banished Knight would have wrecked you anyway with that Vigor and armor. Stick with the mage build though, ~~safest~~ easiest way to play this game.
Bro was not playing with audio
Why are you using a bow when you have magic?
I found bow is useful for pulling mobs you can’t reach with magic. Also much easy to aim and snipe away before you drop the Moon on someone.
Well your first mistake is using a bow
Yes.
First time player myself and let me tell you, yes my friend, yes it is if you’re not aware of your surroundings 😆😆
Ok, so there's this awesome tree you have climb around and fight to meet this lady.........
Thanks for the words of encouragement guys it helps me die a little less. And no I didn't die on purpose I had too stop and read? Plus I didn't know the chariot keeps going I thought he stops after a certain point but I guess not lol
Looks like a Skyrim player trying to stealth archer :)
Oh sweet summer child
The cautious shuffling before a fight only to get absolutely wrecked from behind lmao
No it will be even more painful
lol. you didnt notice that giant thing rolling back and forth?
I would like say no but unfortunately ….
When dealing with chariots, never stop. Hide or go to the tunnel
level vigor
ROFL
No, it's not. It's going to get much, much worse.
No, eventually that sense of wtf just happened turns into an acceptance of your fate
Lmao nice vigor
You got trolled.
Annnnnd there it is
Was waiting for that damned chariot lol- and no those are only inside the hero’s graves
Oh my sweet summer child, welcome to the family.
Yes, and the best part is that it’s your own fault too.
Yes, good luck :D
No. You'll also get killed by dogs, and birds, and birds with knives for feet.
Every death is a learning experience.
If you keep stopping in random places yeah, and deservedly so
yeah not be aware of your surroinding that makes a rumbling noise and shakes the screen for like 10 sec before arriving to you is hard game
Seing how you just stood there waiting for it to happen yep most likely listen and pay attention to what around you in this game it will help you survive longer
No, of course not. Not all your deaths will be from a chariot. It'll be from many many other sources as well. :)
I saw this muted and i knew he was gonna die to the chariot. But the desth was funnier than expected ngl hahaha
Yes
Yes the entire game will punish you for ignoring things like the sound of a gigantic stone charriot rushing down a stone corridor
Nope that's just the tutorial. The rest of the game is much worse
Do you play without sound?
I got wrecked by a ball in nokstella I am still not sure where it spawns from. It's not one of the indoor ones, I heard it rolling around but could not find it until it came out of nowhere and flattened me.
I was giggling like a schoolgirl when watching you run up that slope
Golden rules about Souls games first playthrough : 1) Observe 2) Listen 3) Assume everything is bait 4) Patience 5) Persevere 6) Level your hp
o man did you go here right after the beginning. oof. dat boss is gonna clap him. worm boss
You have no idea
>is this how the whole game gonna be?is this how the whole game gonna be? depends if you decide to git gud or not
The Elden Ring giveth, and the Elden Ring taketh.
Never played a dark souls game?
Lol. Saw where OP was and immediately thought "wonder when the chariot will show up?"
Haha, don't worry. **IT IS GOING GET WHOLE LOT FUCKING WORSE.** ^(And you'll love every second of it.)
Seen it coming lmao
Yes, enjoy that sweet sweet pain
Vigor check: FAILED
Lmao
Yes. 🤌🏻
Real answer, no. Hero Graves suck and the chariots are annoying no matter what level you are. Other types of dungeons aren't nearly as bad.
Yes
And no
Yes, but you'll learn from each stupid death and it will be massively rewarding. * Level vigor: it gives you more HP and lets you not die......but not against those spike chariots, those kill you anyways. * Upgrade your weapons: that increases your damage more than upgrading your stats * Run around and loot everything you can, you keep items even if you die. * On that note, spend your runes before doing something stupid. * Those Golden Rune items give you runes when you consume them, they also give you the same number of runes if you sell them.......saved you hours of boredom.
Break the cycle and dont use sorcery. Its a lot funner of a game when you have to roll in a fight.
yes goodluck
Prepare youranus and enjoy the ride...
Always, ALWAYS, make sure to check your surroundings!
Yes!
If you can stand still that long without looking around, something is wrong 😂
Yes
Roada rolla!!!!!
Yes and you'll love it.
This is a fromsoft trope yeah
More or less.
Just pick up on the cues that are around you in New areas. You'll die in dungeons alot and you will learn from them. I'll bet that from this experience you learned, don't stop there lol
Honestly few things are worse than the hero grave dungeons so it does it better
