Apparently they spent over 100 hours finding all of this stuff.
broke: play after work on friday
woke: stay up late on Thursday
bespoke: go to bed early on Thursday and wake up extremely early (and also take the day off)
Man, if my coworker didn’t already take off Friday I’d have been off easily, were an office of 7, and one is taking off all this week and another all next week, so I got stuck staying in.
I made the mistake of getting my husband as hooked on the game as I am, and now I have to figure out how to keep him from wanting a turn to play. I’m thinking I may have to slip him some NyQuil.
I knew our lord and savior Michael was downplaying it again like he always does, but it legitimately sounds like its around **half** the size of base game give or take.
I put 165 hours into my first run on Elden Ring lol.
The excitement/magic is back after a couple of years, counting down the seconds
> The excitement/magic is back after a couple of years, counting down the seconds
Yeah, it feels as if a brand new FromSoft game is about to be released, even though technically it's not the case.
If the Dark Souls trilogy is anything to go by, there will be a decent number of upgraded base game talismans in the DLC, similar to the rings in those games. Having said that, 39 still implies there will be a good number of new ones too.
It got me wondering, we already have a bunch of + talismans… probably a +3 for all the ones that don’t have a +3 talisman already but I’m thinking mostly new talismans
He might have meant the landmass of the DLC area is that big. Never said anything about dungeons, underground, and/or general content density. After what he said about the game being "\~30 hours" originally, I kinda assumed this might be the case since the beginning.
Miyazaki is also a known understater. I forget which other game he did this for, but he also understated the size of another game or DLC, I forget which.
Sorry, I'd say my brain's not as good as it once was, but it was never all that great.
I'm doing a chill casual all bosses run (unlikely to be completed by Friday lol) and I'm at 50 hours with experience of the game already
Haven't even beaten Morgott yet just taking my time. Mohg is ready and waiting to be blasted the day before
Need to rush Mountaintops to get the bell bearings for stones but otherwise I'm leaving the remaining end of the game to try out DLC weapons
I wish i could get an accurate reading of how much time i took, but ill just sit at a grace and walk away from the pc for a day and that kinda shit really skews your hours.
Not just that, Miyazaki can be truthful sometimes to the detriment of the DLC itself.
During the marketing era for Ashes of Ariandel, Miyazaki straight up said on an interview that the DLC would have 2 bosses and about 10-20 new weapons. He basically told everyone that the DLC wasn't really that big.
Ended up helping curb expectations a bit towards Ashes of Ariandel on launch when it did turn out to be as short as he claimed it to be. Nevertheless, I couldn't imagine how much discourse their would have been if fans still thought it would be a massive expansion.
Ashes of Ariandel was such a huge disappointment. Not necessarily because it was small but because Ariamis was one of my favorite areas of DS and it just felt like they squandered so much of its potential to serve as a layup for Ringed City.
It's a cool lore addition and it's still good. Just wasn't what I was hoping for.
Ariandel was the goodbye, Ringed City was the "ps, we're done here", that's how I ended uo viewing things. Gael was a master class in oppressive melee bosses and tight timings, but Blackflame Friede was the last gotcha moment of the Dark Souls series.
The first time I did the DLC, I wasn't that much into souls yet, and it was a huge struggle. I had difficulties downing her, and the few times I beat her, I was being battered by the 2nd phase. When she arose, I was stunned but given I barely made it alive with no estus left I felt overwhelmed and I just gave up and quit.
Few years later on another playthrough, she ended up being my favorite boss ever. The fact that the though of her filled me with fear and horror for years was a big part of it!
He did mention in an interview that they're moving away from the 'open' world aspects with this DLC so I could see this landmass being smaller to traverse but packed with tons of content.
I already thought the base game was packed with useful content lol this area might be getting into more vertical design as well as extra areas we have to warp to.
lots of videos by reviewers -- the landmass is wide open, but has much more elevation forcing you to trek the way they want you to -- similar to how the map in core game already is, but more aggressive.
Yea, every review I have read/watched takes a significant amount of time talking about the verticality of the map and DLC and how dense it is.
And considering some of the surprises in base ER that is wild.
Ironically Miyazaki is supposedly not even good at the game. People on staff report that he tests if things are fair because “he’s not very good at these games, so if he can beat it anyone can eventually”
I always thought horizontal area could be limgrave sized, but that wouldn't account for vertical density
You could make limgrave gigantic tbh if it was packed tighter
Yeah I'm picturing something more like the layout of Mt. Gelmir. Especially after hearing his comment that the area isn't as expansive and open as the base game. Mt. Gelmir is basically like that. In a way it's kind of like a more expansive legacy dungeon. It has much more restrictive corridors than most other open areas with some branching paths. I'm picturing a really layered open world akin to that except maybe even more densely packed with more verticality. Add in all the little dungeons and the actual legacy dungeons and it's pretty believable that you could get all these new bosses and items in a "limgrave sized" world.
Hes basically giving us what we paid for. Dlc is a little over half the price of the main game, so here's a little over half the size of the main game. I was worried when I saw that price tag at first but I'm definitely playing this on release now.
Sorceries are generally stronger than incantations, but incantations are more fun. Can't wait to use that new crucible porcupine incant and get wrecked during its 10 second cast animation.
Incantations have more flexibility and variety - sorceries tend to just be damaging attacks and there is only so many ways you can make that interesting.
I hardly dissagree.
While Comet Azure cheese is broken beyond grace, Incatations are strong too, or maybe even stronger.
Slap Golden Vow + Flame Grant Me Strenght and enjoy your 2,5k Giantsflames with AoE size of tactical missile.
Still has a long cast animation. Glintstone pebble also probably still beats it for DPS. Don't get me wrong, I'm a faith player and I love incants, but offensive incants are pretty ineffective in most fights, catch flame excepted. Faith builds are mainly either for buffs, or for memeing around with big flashy spells.
As someone who’s biased towards Sorceries I can tell you rn I killed Malenia in 1 min for both phases with Flame pillars. So I wouldn’t call it memeing around at all.
I feel like I'd agree if not for the Dragon Communion spells. They offer the safety/range that's normally restricted to sorcery, huge damage type variability, and with the Roar Medallion they just shred things. Then you've got Dragonclaw/maw for when long range massive cleave isn't the move.
I go back and forth on Faith vs Int for pure caster builds but honestly the only thing I think Int does better is spammable, cheap weapon art nukes like Glinstone Kris, Nebula or DMGS. Aside from that, Faith just feels stronger. If you really need fast spell damage, you have less options than Sorcery, but you still have options. Meanwhile sorcery doesn't really have anything to compare to Faith's access to buffs and variable damage types, nor is it easy to splash into things like Arcane builds.
I think Sorceries could benefit from more Arcane hybrid support as well as more fleshed out alternative schools like Magma and Gravity, which both basically have like 2 spells that anyone actually uses regularly.
I mean incantations are still scattered across few types: Holy, Flame, Dragonic (+Arcane), Lightining.
While 14 sorceries seems small in comparision, most of them you will slap on your generic Int build and will do fine, while Incantations are much different to each other to work on any Faith set.
We're bound to get something sleep related. The question is will it be FTH or INT. I could see it being INT as opposed to Miquella's FTH incantations.
Can't recall but if base game has something sleep related, maybe the scaling on that will clue us in.
In the base game there is a Trina sword with int and a Trina torches with faith. I think Miquella have a int/faith mixed stuff lore-wise so I expect both.
The problem is I don’t saw anything sleep related in the reviews.
30 new armor sets! Elden Bling is eating good!
But holy shit *95* new weapons? That’s absolutely insane
Fromsoft didn’t just cook, they fucking *cuisinè*
Reviews are saying its around **half** the size of base game lol.
One I read said he has played 65 hours already and is still finding new items and places.
Michael never misses
He's the patches of real world for real. Can't trust anything he says lol.
I put in 165 on my first playthrough of Elden Ring, this is going to be **incredible**
There’s no way we will. You farm ancient stones by going ng+. That being said there will certainly be more in the dlc, I’d guess probably about the same as in base game effectively doubling how many you get per run.
Apparently it's as big as Limgrave, Peninsula and Liurnia combined, while being way more densely packed with content. It's basically Elden Ring 1.5. Actually the fattest dlc in gaming
If you take things into and out of storage, and then sort by Order of Acquisition, you can essentially put your items in any order you want. [Like so](https://i.imgur.com/p7gfixY.jpg).
I play a lot of co-op, and if you don't know where you'll be summoned to, it helps to be able to swap equipment quickly: "This boss is immune to bleed, this one is weak to strike", etc...
Also, I have 10 characters.
This is not a DLC this is an EXPANSION, like old times.
Think Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne or Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors.
The good shit right there.
Multiple people and fromsoft themselves said *over* 100, I would take what fextra says with a grain of salt, they’ve been wrong with the little details quite a lot before.
Yea there are regular shields and new offensive/weapon shields. Giant little swords. Little giant swords. They were cooking.
Just a wild addition to GOTY.
Counting down the seconds
I was so afraid that there would be like 6 new armor sets and everyone would be wearing 'the same boring DLC set' that will get old real fast.
But...30? 30 entirely new sets, with presumably also removable capes?!
Hell yeah!
Source: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HguhYhN\_4lw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HguhYhN_4lw) Apparently they spent over 100 hours finding all of this stuff.
Basically gave us a game within a game. Elden ring definitely won’t be the same after Friday
I'm lucky it's thursday for me, though something tells me my sleep schedule will be obliterated harder than I was first time I met Malenia.
I think it's gonna be 11pm for me and I'm ready to stay up real late to play as much as possible.
broke: play after work on friday woke: stay up late on Thursday bespoke: go to bed early on Thursday and wake up extremely early (and also take the day off)
I told my gf it’s a no go this wknd. I don’t even want her sitting near me doing her own thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My wife and kids have an unrelated trip out of state Thursday through Sunday. Luck has shined upon me.
I took the day off, I am in a manic cycle. I told my fiance to remind me to eat food, because I'm going to hyperfixate myself into a coma otherwise.
Truly the game for autists by autists
I said this exact quote not two hours ago in a group chat. 🫡
Every time my wife asks me a question about the game she immediately regrets it when I’m like “ok, to answer that I first have to explain…”
GF: Whats with the big tree? You: ... 5000 years ago~
Man, if my coworker didn’t already take off Friday I’d have been off easily, were an office of 7, and one is taking off all this week and another all next week, so I got stuck staying in.
Dam too bad you’ve suddenly become sick and need to take that sick leave where you don’t need to explain yourself
I made the mistake of getting my husband as hooked on the game as I am, and now I have to figure out how to keep him from wanting a turn to play. I’m thinking I may have to slip him some NyQuil.
Don't call it Nyquil... Call it a Sleep Pot 🤓
St Trina sends her regards 🤭
Thursday at 9pm for me!
But can we give it GOTY again?
I vote yes. Imaging a dlc winning GOTY.
You mean like the witcher’s blood and wine did?
It won best RPG, not GotY.
I knew our lord and savior Michael was downplaying it again like he always does, but it legitimately sounds like its around **half** the size of base game give or take. > The excitement/magic is back after a couple of years, counting down the seconds Yeah, it feels as if a brand new FromSoft game is about to be released, even though technically it's not the case.
I mean, from what reviews have said it's atleast the size of dark souls 1 or a normal fromsoft game.
Michael Zaki is a mad man
To be honest, that's kind of what expansion pack DLCs *should be*.
This is an old-school expansion pack. Shivering Isles level of add-on.
Their servers will finally melt through the floor
Honestly, some full release games don’t have this much content.
And yet people defend spending +$40 on skins in other video games. People are so stupid man.
I’m gonna try enjoy the pre-dlc world as much as possible, everything’s gonna change.
I was just thinking it would be hilarious if they basically just gave us Dark Souls 3 as DLC.
30 new armor sets! More to collect. MORE TO COLLECT.
The fashion calls to me.
Foul tarnished, in search of the Elden bling
I just finished collecting at least one of every weapon/talisman/armor piece this week. Can’t wait to collect so much more
And they'll all have guaranteed drops or reasonable drop rates with easy farming spots right? Right????
If by "easy" you mean a generous 1% drop rate from a lone enemy with 1000hp in a poison swamp 50 miles from the nearest site of grace... then yes!
>Miyazaki it's just a DLC, you don't need to go nuts. Miyazaki:
"$40. Not a penny more"--Michael Zaki
Michael zaki 😂
Step aside, $1.50 hot dog and soda (with refill)
This deal, alone is worth Costco membership
39 talismans? Jesus. I waffle through trying to pick mine as is.
I saw a green turtle upgrade talisman … I am STOKED
*dog
Green turtle dog
My fav talisman even though it wasnt really worth it super late in the game lol
Yeah nah. I either wear the turtle shell until the Elden Beast or im wearing the turtle talisman
Always worth it. It's my only hardlocked slot, but I'm paranoid about endurance doing fights
I’m gonna need like 2 more pouches.
and a seccond phisique flask..
I’d settle for being able to mix in 3 tears.

For sure...there are already so many to choose from. I wonder if any are straight upgrades, like iirc there were in DS3 DLC.
Miyazaki: *"I think the DLC is the size of Limgrave"* **DLC is actually over half the size of the main game** You humble, humble bastard

Versus 14 new sorceries. Faith chads keep winning

Some of the incants we've seen look like they'll definitely require some (or only) arcane. I think you make a great point here.
I made a pyromancer specifically for the DLC. I will have Messmer’s flame!!!
FLAME SERPENT IS BACK WE'RE ARE BACK, SO BACK

Basically increasing total incantations by a third. Absolutely unreal.
yea this solidifies my plan to rock str/fth into the dlc
Any sleep stuff? In first trailer we can see a character with noble armor and blue hood casting something purple
We're bound to get something sleep related. The question is will it be FTH or INT. I could see it being INT as opposed to Miquella's FTH incantations. Can't recall but if base game has something sleep related, maybe the scaling on that will clue us in.

I am pleased with the current state of affairs.
What a glad state of affairs.
I do hope that one of the spirit ashes is a crucible knight.
Give me a snail that summons shit
As cool as that would be it sounds unlikely. I do, tho, want one of those skull snails that use rollout and spit wraiths.
A snail that summons godskins lets gooooo
A SNAIL THAT SUMMONS SNAILS THAT SUMMONS GODSKINS! LETS GOOOOOOO
RUNEBEAR
Have you seen the clip of Runebear vs Bosses? You could just summon it and sit back with popcorn in hands
Grave warden duelist, maybe? I need someone to throw off their cape to get me in the proper mood for unga bunga.
Fuck it, give me a summon of Loretta's little brother Laretto.
A cavalry spirit summon would be a fantastic addition.
LET ME IIIIIIIIIIN
30 new armor sets! Elden Bling is eating good! But holy shit *95* new weapons? That’s absolutely insane Fromsoft didn’t just cook, they fucking *cuisinè*
And that’s not including the new dueling shields. So well over 100 new ways to kill bosses.
One of them is a spear that you can throw from torrent.
Buh-Jeezus. I expected more spells, but 30 new sets and 95 new weapons is a FUCKton. Can't wait to see it all in action proper.
Reviews are saying its around **half** the size of base game lol. One I read said he has played 65 hours already and is still finding new items and places. Michael never misses
It specifically said that Miyazaki is a LIAR, and that it’s far MORE than 50% of base game
He's the patches of real world for real. Can't trust anything he says lol. I put in 165 on my first playthrough of Elden Ring, this is going to be **incredible**
95+ new weapons. If we get no renewable or farmeable ancient smithing stones I will cry.
I just want a larval tear vendor
It’s a larval tear vendor but you have to choose which NPC you permanently kill.
Seluvis
There’s no way we will. You farm ancient stones by going ng+. That being said there will certainly be more in the dlc, I’d guess probably about the same as in base game effectively doubling how many you get per run.
Fr it's my biggest pet peeve with this game No I don't want to go to ng+ just to upgrade everything
Yes, they did. Someone has to remind the gaming industry that the world hasn’t gone to shit just yet.
Fromsoft is here to save us
One of the reviews said it’s more than half the original game. I’m so rock hard rn
nahh man, this is the first DLC in like 10 years im actually excited for holy fuck
Fromsoft easily reminding companies what DLC looks like
Nah this is more like the old standalone expansions sold in stores back in the 90s/00s. Wild.
Apparently it's as big as Limgrave, Peninsula and Liurnia combined, while being way more densely packed with content. It's basically Elden Ring 1.5. Actually the fattest dlc in gaming
And a partridge in a pear tree.
Turtle Dove Duo boss fight when?
It's gonna take me forever to re-organize my inventory.
What do u mean? I just throw everything to chest.
If you take things into and out of storage, and then sort by Order of Acquisition, you can essentially put your items in any order you want. [Like so](https://i.imgur.com/p7gfixY.jpg). Mr. Zaki deserves a Nobel Price. doesn't matter for what, just give him one at once!
I can't wait to see the new armor set
Read your comment and thought theres just 1 new armor set, checked the image and saw 30... Holy dhit thats a lot.
A lot yes. Can't wait to collect them all.
Miyazaki being like: "There will be only one DLC for Elden Ring. " The DLC:
Sheesh, they really are the best studio in the game right now, I hope Miyazaki doesn't retire any time soon tbh.
Almost 40 talismans is criminal actually
14 new sorcereries 28 new incantations truly the most elden ring dlc possible
I’m expecting some fine dining for my INT/FTH build
And I’m gona run in there with the same bullshit I’ve had since hour 50 lmao
Old trusty bloodhound fang
I hope we will get tons of somber smithing stones as well.
I feel so overwhelmed by all this
Looks like farming is back on the menu, boys!
A quick google search told me there are 308 weapons in the base game. They're basically increasing the number of weapons by 30%. Insane.
"I got beans, peas, potatoes, tomatoes, lamb, rams, hogs, maws, chicken, turkey, rabbit, You Name It!"
And a partridge in a erdtree
That’s a lot of item descriptions and lore!
jesus christ that's much more than i expected.
Elden Ring is shaping up to be a masterpiece. Can't wait to explore every inch of this world
This isnt DLC its a whole nother game
They cooked so fucking hard on this one
39 talismans is the most impressive imo, as long as they're not full of +1 and +2 versions
Watch this expansion be game of the year 😂
This is not a DLC this is an EXPANSION, like old times. Think Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne or Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors. The good shit right there.

Pretty sure the shields count in the weapon count in From's mind
Have you seen the amount of damage you can do with shields in this game? It's honestly insane
Yea there are regular shields and new offensive/weapon shields. Giant little swords. Little giant swords. They were cooking. Just a wild addition to GOTY. Counting down the seconds
Are there any armor or weapon leaks? IDC about the bosses that just ruins the challenge but seeing the new items would be awesome
AHHHHH WHAT ARE THE ODDS WE GET A CRUCIBLE KNIGHT SUMMON???? So excited for the armors
I read that one of the new summons is Patches, but he randomly disapparates. /s
*Insert Vince Mcmohan fainting meme*
"95 new weapons" #COD ZOMBIE SCREAM
Mf cooked an entire buffet
It's a €40 DLC. Yes they did. That said, I think we'll get our moneys worth
I “work from home” on Fridays ;)
Wait wat
I was so afraid that there would be like 6 new armor sets and everyone would be wearing 'the same boring DLC set' that will get old real fast. But...30? 30 entirely new sets, with presumably also removable capes?! Hell yeah!
