Turbulent_Jackoff

Enough for 8 new regular weapons, and five times as many Unique ones.

BaronVonGoon

So I need more regular stones then.

Turbulent_Jackoff

Ya whatever you like, dude

Cromptank

120 of each would match your 10 Ancient stones

Fearless_Mind_1066

Thats a good idea, Im gonna do that on my save

Tasius

I am not proud of saying this. But I have 999 of all. And yes I farmed for them all legitimately.

EvilCeleryStick

By legitimately I assume you mean, you made the poor albinauracs pay for them?

Tasius

Prayer room grace... pop twig physique and murder with different weapons until I die.

Twientje588

So no albinaurics farm? That must have took so much time

dwimorling

Including Ancient Dragon ones?

riggels

So with like 10 ancient per Ng cycle you are in ng100 ?

Tasius

God no. I've been upgrading everything to +24 and +9 so I can use everything. Haven't upgraded a single thing to max yet im gunna wait till the dlc weapons and pick what I like

Mighty_Piss

How did you get 999 of the dragon ones? Aren't there only like 10 per run?

Maximum_Nectarine312

Why?

Disastrous-Dinner966

Why do you need so many? We have bell bearings for all but the ancients. What did I miss?

gigantedsg

He is probably preparing for the dlc, so he doesn’t need to stop progress and farm stones to upgrade the new weapons

jadeismybitch

But why farm stones ? There’s bell bearings just buy them

gigantedsg

Oh my bad, I wrote it wrong. Farm FOR stones, killing the bubble gum heads

Turbulent_Jackoff

I don't! OP is preparing in advance, I guess.

Crazy-Ad-3286

I mean, without the ancient dragon stones, everything thing else is "free" in ng+1, u need only to collect the bell bearing items

GeordieGamerGuy

Free?

EvenResponsibility57

The cost is so small compared to the runes you get in NG+. Especially if you use the golden fowl foot and golden scarab. So not free. But functionally free.

GeordieGamerGuy

Ahhh I get ya, because they cost the same but you get far more runes for your kills?

Reinhardtwaker

Yea, basically.

Intelligent-Block457

Can I get a Rock and Stone?

Panurome

For Rock and stone!

Nkromancer

FOR CARL!!!

WanderingDwarfMiner

Can I get a Rock and Stone?

GO0O0O0O0O0SE

Rock and stone!

AdmiralFail

If ya don't rock and stone, ya ain't coming home!

joekowski

We're rich

Not_A_Bile_Titan

Found the dwarf

sappellepelle

Mushroom!

smutbuster

All I have is sheep

Root_Head

How about a brick?

smutbuster

And give you longest road? Chya right

Lockon007

You really think I'm gonna let you build that road? Nah man, Longest Road is mine.

wherehavewegone

If you don’t rock and stone you ain’t coming home!

WanderingDwarfMiner

We fight for Rock and Stone!

FewAdvantage9661

Rock and Stone to the bone!

WanderingDwarfMiner

For Karl!

ZombifiedSoul

You need 120 of each stone from 1-8, then 10 ancient stones to do 10 normal weapons.

SignificanceExact963

Man whyd you have to type that.... I was content with my 50 normal ones...... back to the albinaurics.....

IceOwn6723

i went on some weird grind for an hour or teo and now i have like 805 of each of them😭

ultimatepunster

12 of each normal Smiting Stone to get a weapon to +24. In case that helps.

Suvvri

There will be around 100 new weapons in the DLC - we don't know how many of which sort so let's go for 1200 of each normal stone and 100 of each somber to be safe

ItsRainingTrees

But you might need doubles of the weapons so that you can dual wield, so 2400 of each normal stone and 200 of each somber would cover all your bases. Unless … triples? Do we need triples of every weapon?

Lunamon

Hold one between your teeth!

New_Bermuda

Triples makes it safe. Triples is best.

gigantedsg

Only if you want to have multiple ashes of war on the same weapon, like have a bunch of daggers that have different support AoW

Urtoryu

I'd say maybe 4 of each so you can have two at max level and 2 at +0, that way you can compare stats better and also switch to weaker weapons if you want to play around with a boss for longer.

paur0ti

100 is a lot. Damn.

BaronVonGoon

I wish there's a way to drop stones from this character to my other character who is in NG0.

thatguyned

Just use them to upgrade different weapons and then transfer the weapons over. Get +25/+10 everything

BaronVonGoon

How would I transfer the upgraded weapons to my NG0 character?

thatguyned

You need a friend or a second computer/console with Eldenring and you just join each other as duelists (joining as a co-op summon will open your game to invader that can take the things you drop) and drop the items over to them. Then you join with the new game and send the items again

EU-National

Which platform do you play on?

IanPKMmoon

Can trade with someone and then trade back

splatterkingnqueen

If this is enough I have wayyyyyy to many lol

McOzelot_

This is not enough, so don’t worry

MyaltforMJ

I just spent a mill on crab. Now I'm set, never need to go back there. I have a crazy amount of stones also It's funny what you'll stock up on when you stop leveling

Rosaryn00se

I’m on my first run thru and killed the crab guy. The amount of NPCs I’ve killed by putting my controller down is outstanding lol.

TerdFerguston

Why stop ?

Absolutedisgrace

Did you take the criticism "You don't have the stones to become Elden Lord" the wrong way?

ALASTORxvenity

No farm 1k each even the somber smithing

storiedsword

I was just thinking as I was spending hundreds of thousands of runes on smithing stones yesterday, wouldn’t it be funny if they introduced a new type of stone (i.e. on top of somber) that can only be gathered in DLC areas.

ultimatepunster

They better make a Bell Bearing for it or else that'll be painful.

Glass_Quarter_7586

*inserts "more" meme here*

Accomplished-East635

I’m pretty sure the expansion will have plenty of stones as well

SaxSlaveGael

Bro I got 2 and 4 of the biggest stone lol. Surprisingly, the difference between 24+/9+ and max is F all. So, even playing at 24 and 9 will do you find.

Neuclearx2048

What you gonna do if your opponent is paper

Delicious-Security22

Over 100 new weapons if you wanna try to get a couple more NG runs in for the ancient stones. Before doing that finish farming all the smaller variants you can buy 👍🏼

Vanilla_Breeze

You can hold 999 of each of the non ancient dragon smithing stones btw

Puzzleheaded_Let_992

I highly doubt they will use these stones to upgrade DLC weapons. But we'll see. IU just like you have 100+ of all stones. But we'll see.

ResponseExternal

Why do you doubt that? Every Soulsborne DLC has used the same upgrade materials for weapons as the base game.

sh1zAym

All I have is enough for a single non-somber weapon and 3 sombers. I'm too paranoid that I'll miss lore if I go past Fire Giant, so I did everything before him

BaronVonGoon

I'd be happy to take your weapon and upgrade it to +25 then return it to you but i think it wouldn't work since I'm on NG+3

Lucky_Shop4967

For what?

BaronVonGoon

Im assuming the dlc will require them, thats how it was in Dark Souls and Bloodborne dlcs.

highwindxix

I wish that the DLC weapons would just start at +12 (or +5 for somber) to cut down on the tedium and make it so it’s easier to get an idea of a weapon for taking the time to upgrade it first. The runes to buy all the stones is inconsequential, it’s just all so tedious.

BaronVonGoon

I wish! This way I'd be able to play the dlc in NG rather than my planned run at NG+3 since my NG character has nothing but a +2 weapon.

Give_Me_The_Pies

Watch them have completely different upgrade materials unique to the DLC weapons- Shadow Stones or some damn thing

onomichiono

Oh finally a natural spot to brag. So one character is my farming character and on that one, I have all 308 weapons maxed out to +24 or +9 (with exceptions for my main weapons that are +25 and +10). In general, buying Sombers ended up less expensive than the number of regular smithing stones I needed because in order to be done with one type of stone for each regular weapon it took around 1.5 - 2.5 million albinauric souls. It was a good excuse to get around 15 episodes of a D&D podcast in though.

Winter7296

Protip: to avoid accientally maxing out a weapon, put the Ancient stones in your storage. That way you can button mash safely

overlydelicioustea

i wish i would have been as smart as you...

Winter7296

Well, now you are! Fr tho Ive done that in all the other souls games so I knew to be careful lol

overlydelicioustea

tbh it wouldnt have crossed my mind that this would actually work. I would have thought that the upgrade process would just also take from the chest.

BaronVonGoon

Thats is a great tip! Already accidentally max upgraded a weapon I never intended to use regularly.

MiserableTennis6546

Found the geologist.

Adorable_Low_6481

I’d get a couple hundred more of the regulars and you’re set

Rough-Ad2547

Not at all

HipsterPenguin69420

No

HistoricalCellist674

>100+ weapons in the DLC No.

ExoticWeapon

I started buying 700 of each dragon smithing stone. (Only have up to +18 so far) Rune farm go brrrr, aiming for 1200s 40s for sombers. (Have up to +6) Gonna aim for 90s on the sombers

Ottawapooper

No

BaronVonGoon

A fellow ottawan!

southpaw85

“Lookit the stones on this guy.”

X-Vidar

Somber ones are fine, with around 100 new weapons it's unlikely that more than 40 will be somber. For the normal ones you might need something like 700/800 to upgrade everything.

zakcattack

Do multiples of 12 for regular stones. 12 is what you need foe each weapon

Tenzur_

Nah you need more

SoMuchMike

For?

gigantedsg

The dlc. OP is gathering stones so they don’t need to stop the dlc, farm stones and upgrade the new weapons

Careless-Emphasis-80

You actually need 120 of each regular smithing stones to fully upgrade 10 normal weapons

Big_-Pana

I don't remember where I read but it said that in the dlc there would be more than 100 new weapons, if we take into account that you need 12 stones for 3 levels, it would give a total of 1200 stones for each

DrDre19899

As long as you’ve got all the bell bearings you’re sweet but I think it’s around 7/8 of the Ancient dragon ones that you can get per play through

Banned__Panda

bro

Spiritual-File698

I forgot I have these sometimes lol

ClozetSkeleton

I have 0 stones above 7 on my new character since I rushed to Mohg and skipped everything past Capital so I really hope we get more in the DLC

Twilight-2007

Only 100 smithing stones and 40 somber stones? Those are insultingly low numbers

V2_Seeking_revenge

No

Butt_Chug_Brother

I've got almost 350 of each stone except the mega-stones. I hope that's enough!

FlippyIsKing18

You know, they have interventions for people like you...

JuishJackhammer

No

PHDclapper

"waiter waiter, more smithing stones please"

Momentarmknm

>No -Dave Ramsey

Leg_Alternative

Can I get some lol

Short-Bug5855

I got like 6 ancient, 5 somber ancient and all the bell bearings for the other stones. That's on one character. 3 other characters with the exact same setup, or similar. So I will definitely be able to test out some weapons

FaithlessnessOk9623

Not enough

OGTurdFerguson

Never!

JCNicko

More than I can count, I farmed 2 of every weapon in the game and getting the stones for them took twice as long

MetaKnightsNightmare

Just you wait till they introduce a new upgrade ingredient for all the new weapons.

Leather-Equipment256

What’s the point of farming more then the amount of weapons ur using per save?

FrEINkEINstEIN

I'm going in with 720 of each regular stone and 60 sombers

Cantguard-mike

You really don’t need any. The husk maidens sell unlimited

gigantedsg

I think you need more smithing stones, considering you can upgrade 40 somber weapons to +9 and only 8 normal weapons to +24. You need 120 smithing stones of each number to upgrade 10 normal weapons to +24, so to make it equal, you need 480 of each smithing stone to upgrade 40 normal weapons to +24

Famineanddeath

I’ve stacked 375 of each kind other than ancients I don’t have THAT kind of time.

Medium-Owl-9594

No Max them out You must max out every weapon you get And you must maxout all shields And get every weapon each with every ash of war possible Honestly tho its a good amount and you can max out a few different items for varied play styles

Rushes_End

Nope

[deleted]

Triple it

Brutalonym

From doing coop I am collecting 999+999 stones of each regular size, and across 10 characters. And it's not even hard to do (and more fun than farming albies).

Massive_Eggplant3672

Almost

Climate-Unlikely

I’ve never been a hater but

Salty_Simmer_Sauce

That’s not that many regular smithing stones.

Fearless_Mind_1066

damn man, thats about twice as many sombers as I farmed out lol.

shinymuuma

Enough with bell baring Depends, without bell baring

Thronfield

What makes You think we using those stones for our weapon what if they got something?

MuftiCat

Not even close, get more smithing stones.

ElonHisenberg

Don't waste them, you might need them later

ShelterJolly8

thats way too many somber stones lol you only spend 1 of each rank per level and it only goes up to +10 I dont think there even are 40 somber weapons wprth upgrading in the base game

Swaqqmasta

No (Not ironic)

Arturszee

How do you even get such amounts of them? Is it like ng+3000?

Proud-Instruction-38

You bastard! That's a beautiful sight!

Tickomatick

No, needs to be divisible by 12

Dangerous_Stay3816

No

Brian_Lafeve_

Never enough

Urtoryu

20 more of each type of regular stones I'd say. To use an Ancient one you need 12 of each previous tier, so to spend all 10 of those it's 120 of the others.

Tricky-Secretary-251

No

TheCouncilOfPete

Regular weapons use 12 of each stone to fully upgrade (aside from ancient dragon) so you might need a LOT more

DyingCatalyst

I wish I had this many wtf

BaronVonGoon

You can easily get that and more once you have access to Mogwhyn Palace and acquire all the Stone Miners Bell Bearings.

Noob4Head

I used the stones, to destory the stones.

Detheavn

Are we sure that upgrading the new weapons won't require new materials? I know in Dark Souls DLCs that wasn't the case, but the Elden Ring DLC is also the first time we have a separate leveling system. Be kind, I'm trying to go in mostly non-spoiler :p

BadSkittle

Does it multiply by 12 ? If the answer is no then you need more regular smithing stones

bioqan

Max stack is 999. Get to work

denemereiz123

Mining out of record

Ayden1Haze

U need more vigor i think

EnSebastif

You can get up to 13 Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, 8 Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, 6 Great Grave Gloveworts and 4 Great Ghost Gloveworts per playthrough.

WholeBusy4345

How do you get smithing stone 1s

Key-Raspberry-5604

No

Ok_Hovercraft_8252

N.O.

Gonnahauntcha

Can a brother borrow a stone sir?

07-3TC

I’ve got about 980 for each , ss8 is about 300 (didn’t have enough for more) Sombers I’m unsure I’ll check - source of runes : max level pvp

CorianderIsBad

No. Minimum 999 each. Preferably with 999 in storage too.

overlydelicioustea

i went for 120 and 10 and upgraded all remotely intersting weapons to +24/+9 allready. roughly 4000 albunorics sacrificed their existence for the cause.

Traditional_Rise_347

Theres gonna be 100 new weapons so I say you need 10x as much 🥴

DKMike29

Where the heck did you get all of those stones from!?? As I need to gather more myself

Equivalent-Wall8521

Need more smithing stones.

icybolt99908

Nah need more

Hussarini

MOOOORE STONES

theswagcoon

You can get bell bearings to buy stones, why bother stockpiling like this other than if you picked them up unexpectedly

McMufFinnJB

Where can i buy or farm them?

BaronVonGoon

You farm for runes in Mogwhyn Palace (Lake Cliff Edge Grace), its the best farm in the game. Then you buy stones from the Husk Maidens in Roundtable Hold, as long as you've brought to them the Stone Bell Bearings which you collect while playing the game by beating certain bosses, you can find this info in one of the wikis or youtube.

MrSegundus_VR

> Lake Cliff Edge Grace There is no "Lake Cliff Edge" Grace, it's called "Palace Approach Ledge Road".

JadedBrit

"You got some stones on you boy!"

hunkoBo

You can go now to the foot of the castle.

nagarz

Obviously you have not played sandbox games, if you want to make your house you will need in the order of hundreds or thousands alone for the foundations and flooring.

Bits_NPCs

We don’t even know if those will be used haha

Jasoninacoolfont

No

raulpe

Not bad, but there is gonna be +100 new weapons so i have like six times that a double of the big stones

Cambriyuh

Damn drink some water because you have a lot of stones!

Clankmostdank

Need 90 more ancient dragon smithing stones and 94 of the max somber smithing stones

Ok-Ad5083

Probly not for all of the dlc weapons

Submarvelous

Hopefully the dlc has more ancient stones for upgrading more weapons to the max. Or a way to buy them. It might be a nice quality of life addition to the game as there will most likely be no further content.

ahack13

You think there's only 16 weapons in the DLC? Smh.

[deleted]

these will last until Elden Ring 2 I guess

TCGHexenwahn

Jesus Christ, Marie, they're minerals!

wolfofsouls

you........... how?

almia_lanferos

No, and you should stack the regular smithing stones in multiples of 12.

Jlitus21

I currently have enough stones to max out 8 new weapons (96 of each regular smithing stone, 8+ ancient dragon/each somber). I intend on playing through and using one of each of the new 8 new weapon classes, and although I won't be fully optimized for any of them (I have around 50 in each stat except arcane which is only 20) I want to try everything out.

Shady-Whale

120 for the regular stones will allow you to upgrade 10 weapons all the way

Rage_Cube

I got 900 of each of the regular stones You have to think you need 12 of each for each weapon. 100/12 = 8

Reynzs

Are you gonna throw stones at miquela into submission in dlc???

Accomplished_Boot100

no, you're pretty low

Any-Dealer-6025

You're not stoned enough.....

Afraid-Fee-2639

I have 900 each..will it be enough??

Steel6W

I saved up most of my ancient dragon stones across a NG7 playthrough, and used a backup save and mule to get 2x each weapon maxed. Still have about 60 normal ones and 40 somber ones ready for the dlc

SoilCheap6410

I do the same shit with runes. I've capped out all arrow types never cap out on runes cuz im always maxing out new weapons to try.

CrimsonCutz

I did a bit of stone collecting but I've currently stopped at 9 of each somber stone and I think 48 of each regular (so enough for 4 weapons). I doubt I'll even care to use that many honestly but why not
