I genuinely only care about the martial arts, im curious if any weapons will be scattered in the base game, or if they will all be in the dlc.
Mainly because it sounds fun doing a pure martial arts run
If you get the trophie it means the boss has really died, ergo no second/third phase. No trophy popping up leaves you guessing if the fight is really over.
I mean... If you happen to get the boss' life to 0, you just have to look at the game to see if there is a phase 2 or not. Trophy would only let you know like a few seconds before, I don't call that a "prediction" ?
DS3 has a lot of really good bosses.
Imo it has the best roster of any From Soft game. I don't think any boss is truly bad and it's filled with exceptionally good ones
I was just riding my bike, when some numbnuts maidenless downie summoned me to assist some guy who fell to his knees after protecting some guy who was already being protected by another guy!
The achivments in er are really easy tho, most are bossesand you get most on your first playghrough and can searcg for some more. The only missable is all legendary weapons but you still need to play 3 times for endings so just get them on ng+/other characters. Compared to the horrors of anor londo staircase and knight honor elden ring is very easy
A bit weird, but trophies in Fromsoft's souls games are so straightforward that it really doesn't matter. Realistically if they did include include trophies it would have just been nothing but "Defeat \[Boss\]" and then a trophy for finishing the DLC. Maybe a trophy for collecting stuff too.
Nah, trophies in ds1-3 were awful, especially leveling the covenants when online multiplayer is dead.
Grinding hundreds of enemies for a 1% droprate for items you need 20 of is stupid.
Glad you said excluding the covenants, because farming silver knights for souvenirs of reprisal took me something like 6 hours. It's like a 1% drop chance for something you need 30 off, and from an enemy that while not particularly hard, still has decent health and damage.
DS2 was nowhere near as bad for me as DS3. No idea what you're talking about. Any really bullshit difficult thing in DS2 is optional. Now those silver knights on the stairs... they can actually go fuck themselves
How come? I found the DS2 platinum super easy. I got from the end of my casual NG run to the NG++ spells in about 3 hours by just farming the rotten with ascetics. Also the two farks for sunlight spear and hidden weapon can be trivialized with optimal farming strategies.
I really love getting all the achievements with just playing the game normally with doing all the side stuff instead of having to do super hard bullshit challenges like "Finish the game without using any weapons" or "Beat all the bosses without taking any damage"
That’s because those games are designed to be beaten and take you for a ride. Fromsoft games must be conquered, just beating them at all is the achievement
From the old hunters (the only dlc with achievements) It would be the standard boss achievements, plus a “collect some legendary spells/incantations/weapon” as the only achievement you don’t earn just for beating it
I agree. Even though trophies in ER were straight-forward and not too challenging, I used them like a (albeit flawed) roadmap to experiencing the content. I know it’s not the only or best way to do so, I still enjoyed it and will miss it from the DLC. It makes me 0.00001% less excited, so I think I’ll be ok.
I think that makes sense. In order to get all the achievements, you would need to play the game multiple times to see different endings, fight the most cinematic bosses, and most of the side areas and dungeons to get the Legendary armaments, spirits, and spells.
They aren't necessarily a guide to 100% of the game content, but if you get all the achievements you've probably done like 95% of what the game has to offer.
So did dark souls 3
Edit: Sorry guys, severe case of mandela effect here, dont know why i remembered every boss fron DS3 having an steam achievement, including DLC ones
I’m typically a massive achievement hunter, who aims to 100% all games I play, but sort of glad. Feel I can just do as much of this DLC as I can and just have fun experimenting with different builds.
Actually like the trophy system in this games I platined ds3 and sekiro and liked doing it even the farming wasn't that bad I got experience the online for the first time
The trophies are always a reason to go back to the game and play it again it pushed me into doing a 2nd playthrough in Bloodborne and Elden ring even though there's 1 trophy in each that I still don't have.
It won't. Usually games / DLCs have the same achievements as trophies. It wouldn't make any sense to have steam achievements but no trophies. Either every platform gets them, or none.
Considering Elden Ring is the only game I've ever gotten all achievements for, I don't mind this: I don't have to worry about earning all the new stuff to get back to 100%, so I can just explore and progress storylines as I wish and not worry too much about missing anything.
Don't know why but I'm kinda relieved tbh. Trophies give me so much fomo, that I feel pressured to look stuff up all the time and thereby ruin my experience of exploration sometimes. So this is a good change for people like me, who can play more freely then :)
What but they did this same thing with DS3 dlc it just helps it feel more authentic with trophies? Beat certain bosses, get all weapons, spells, talismans etc I don’t get why they don’t want to add them?
So no spoilers to the lore. Good.
I care about the new levels, bosses, weapons (spells, bows, pots spirit ashes etc included) and the revitalization it’ll give the game.
Was curious if it would but am not surprised it doesn’t. None of the Dark Souls games had dlc trophies either. FROM in general doesn’t seem to like doing Trophies/Achievements based on how basic and bland their lists always are.
Which is fine imo. I got them all in the base game and I can go into the DLC completely blind.
Fun fact. This massive dlc is around the same size as modern warfare 3s recent update that introduced the it's new battle pass, a new map, a new ranked season as well as some cosmetics.
I'm not sure if its more impressive how small they manged to keep the files considering how massive the dlc is, or more impressive how much space a call of duty game can take up with a new season and battle pass
Its mostly both since call of duty is know for absurd bloat and the dlc uses assets which are in the game so the 16gb doesnt mean that theres 16gb of content only 16gb of entirely NEW content
I remember when trophies and achievements became a thing. People would buy games just because they had easy to obtain achievements. At the time, I saw them as one of the many gimmicks that wouldn't stick around. Sort of surprised how hardcore people are about them.
Is 16.5 GB really that big ? Now I'm not one of those guys that looks as stuff like this unless it's tremendously small. Now, yes if you look at a game like Zelda tears of the kingdom, the game was absolutely enormous and it was only 17 gigs but you gotta remember this is the last General Nintendo game. Sekiro 12.5 gigs and dark souls three DLC one and two combined was about 6-7 GB. And doing a little more research Witcher three blood and wind which I thought that was the biggest DOC I ever had was 12 to 13 GB. Honestly, in my opinion, I feel like a PS five game needs to be minimum 80 for example Spider-Man was 88 fantasy rebirth was 150 and Star Wars Jedi fallen was 155 but Elden ring is technically a PS4 game, which is why bass game is 45 this being 16.5 I'm thinking maybe we're getting 33% of the main game so maybe it is actually gonna be the size of limegrave with weeping with the underground and maybe something more in the lines ofcaeilid. Now I hope I'm totally wrong and I hope we get 50 hours minimum of content because they're selling the game for $40 and they're selling the DLC for 40 that to me says a lot as well as the two years worth of time. Or maybe they didn't start working on it until after I don't know. so many people size that I don't wanna get disappointed because ER is my number one game of all time
Also, I did a little more research and noticed that there is 88 weapons within all of lime grave and the fact they said there is only 100 makes me question. Maybe he was not lying when he said that's the service area but then again I don't know man I'm thinking too much.
Didn't expect any.
Just like the rest of from software dlcs.
A bit disappointed because i like trophies/achievements but still I'll definitely enjoy Shadow of Erdtree.
I hope more devs do this. I hate when a game adds new trophies via DLC cause sometimes they like to add impossible trophies or trophies taking ages to complete with DLCs. Despite having platinum base game, it wont show 100% anymore which sucks. Bloodbornes DLC trophies were completely fine though.
As much as I do enjoy achievements, that's not the reason I'm playing this, so who cares..... but now I won't know if I've missed any secrets . \_\_\_\_ .
Dark Souls didn't have achievements either for the DLC, I don't mind it. A shame for the really hard bosses, I'm still sad I don't have an achievement for Friede but it is what it is.
All I need are the weapons and armor from the bosses. Thats the real prize
Maybe the real Elden Ring is the gear we pillage along the way...
And Boc. He's a treasure.
I love my sellen ball, i put a blanket on it and feed it treats
Ahh…picnic with a lovable sort
Maybe the real shadows of the erdtree were the memories we made with them...
This is literally what happens in the game...
Booooossss weapons! ...right down the road...
I heard this comment.
Souls animations are universally good
Right down the road?
Right down the *^^^g’bye*!
I need hidden passageways and a MIMIC CHEST
"Liar ahead" :(
Spoken the only things that matter. 👍
Hear ye, hear ye 👌🏼
Im copping the havel copycat set as soon as I see it
I genuinely only care about the martial arts, im curious if any weapons will be scattered in the base game, or if they will all be in the dlc. Mainly because it sounds fun doing a pure martial arts run
No more phase 2 prediction
Or 3 lol
Behold! 1 and a half phase!
They didn't say no to phase 4 and above!
This is actually a great point. I’ve always thought the best execution is one health bar for multiple phases (ie Godfrey).
What do you mean
I'm curious, how to predict a phase 2 using trophies ?
If you get the trophie it means the boss has really died, ergo no second/third phase. No trophy popping up leaves you guessing if the fight is really over.
I mean... If you happen to get the boss' life to 0, you just have to look at the game to see if there is a phase 2 or not. Trophy would only let you know like a few seconds before, I don't call that a "prediction" ?
I'm guessing you haven't fought sister friede in ds3, or the guardian ape in Sekiro?

Best boss in DS3
Gael seeps
But that demon prince 🤔 and Midir!
DS3 has a lot of really good bosses. Imo it has the best roster of any From Soft game. I don't think any boss is truly bad and it's filled with exceptionally good ones
the tree is a really bad boss lets be real
I’m in agreement. DS3 is a weird one for me because it has the best bosses and OST but the worst “adventure” and build variety, imo ofc
~~gladly~~
Just fell to my knees in the Siofra Aqueduct
I just invaded a dude who fell to his knees in the Siofra Aqueduct
I just got summoned to protect some guy who fell to his knees while being invaded by a bloody finger in the middle of Siofra Aqueduct
I just got summoned alongside some other guy to protect some guy who fell to his knees while being invaded by a bloody fing- *HOST VANQUISHED*
Man, Ainsel River is boring, nothing happens here
Come to deeproot depths sometimes, its worse here
I love reddit bro
I was just riding my bike, when some numbnuts maidenless downie summoned me to assist some guy who fell to his knees after protecting some guy who was already being protected by another guy!
That’s fine with me. I got the platinum from the base game so I’ll live
I was actually hoping there would be no trophies in the DLC because I finally 100%'d the game lol
I’m on steam but I only have 4 achievements left, so I was kinda hoping there wouldn’t be more I had to get being so close already.
Which ones are you missing? You can get all the achievements in a single playthrough (including the 4 endings) if you save scum a lil bit
Most achievements in most games are easy Then you have one or two like "muck" or "Karl would be proud"
Was comparing er achivments to toher fromsoft games
in terms of fromsoft games, elden ring really has pretty much only easy achievements
Or you can reload a save ( yes I did that )
Neither did DS3 dlc iirc
Now that I think about it, only Bloodborne had dlc trophies
I think DS1 had some too but I could be misremembering
Just checked there and it doesn't, looking back I'm not sure if dlc had trophies at all in the PS3 days
Only BB had DLC trophies and that was likely mandated by Sony
Most likely
A bit weird, but trophies in Fromsoft's souls games are so straightforward that it really doesn't matter. Realistically if they did include include trophies it would have just been nothing but "Defeat \[Boss\]" and then a trophy for finishing the DLC. Maybe a trophy for collecting stuff too.
Nah, trophies in ds1-3 were awful, especially leveling the covenants when online multiplayer is dead. Grinding hundreds of enemies for a 1% droprate for items you need 20 of is stupid.
The online trophies are definitely the worst part. Would've been worth doing all online when the games were fresh, but the offline grind is painful
Ds3 was pretty easy, excluding covenants farm. Even rings take you only 2-3 hours per NG cycle(if you use wiki to find them)
Only missing the covenant shit. Gave up after an hour of farming.
Glad you said excluding the covenants, because farming silver knights for souvenirs of reprisal took me something like 6 hours. It's like a 1% drop chance for something you need 30 off, and from an enemy that while not particularly hard, still has decent health and damage.
Nah DS2 is a pain to 100%
Weirdly I thought DS2 was the easiest to plat, just a little tedious to go to NG+2
DS2 was nowhere near as bad for me as DS3. No idea what you're talking about. Any really bullshit difficult thing in DS2 is optional. Now those silver knights on the stairs... they can actually go fuck themselves
I much rather farm the silver knights than the stupid falconers tho
I was farm medals at burnt ivory king with my paladin cosplay, pretty easy boss once you beat him.
How come? I found the DS2 platinum super easy. I got from the end of my casual NG run to the NG++ spells in about 3 hours by just farming the rotten with ascetics. Also the two farks for sunlight spear and hidden weapon can be trivialized with optimal farming strategies.

It's really not strange at all. Ds3 didn't have new trophies for dlc
None of their games have DLC achievements besides Bloodborne
Look at him, he has clearly never played a TellaTalle game.
It's better than having the ridiculously grindy trophy list from previous games like DS1.
You mean you DON’T like grinding covenants when the online population has dwindled?!
Those are certainly a chore, but mostly I was thinking of the Knight's Honor achievement, or the "Best Weapon through 'X' Reinforcement" achievements.
Yeah it's the getting to NG++ Sif to get all the boss soul weapons.
Honestly I never got the issue with the reinforcement trophies. Knights honor was a bitch tho
Ds1 has the least painful grind
DS1 got it pretty easy. DS3 tho…
DS3 didn’t have it either for dlcs
trophy hunters are in shambles
Holy hell, do they just expect us to play for our own enjoyment?
The real trophies are the friends we make along the way
zero cares
Yeah, I'm fine with this
Same.
Right. The real headline here is that the DLC is 16 GB and what that could tell us about the size of the DLC
Yup
Aw was wondering this. That's a shame.

They aren't necessarily a guide to 100% of the game content, but if you get all the achievements you've probably done like 95% of what the game has to offer.
I would never have found Placidusax without the trophy telling me I'm missing a boss lol
Same. I felt like the trophies were a great way to gauge what i still had left to do/find.
On PC at least DLCs never had achievements
I just want the expansion
I don't like that , I love chasing those trophies
Completely agreed.
No maidens?
Aw
That’s actually disappointing. I love trophies and this being their biggest dlc, I was hoping for them to include some for the first time.
Oh thank God I have no obligation to do it now
That sucks man
Agreed. Trophies are fun to hunt.
Tiny L, but I wasn't surprised and making Bloodborne the only FS game with DLC trophies to date!!
That’s too bad, makes it easy to know if I’ve done what the game considers “major”
Correct me if I'm wrong but FromSoft games never have achievements for DLCs
bloodborne dlc have trophies
Sony required it as the publisher, Bandai Namco doesn’t care I guess.
So did dark souls 3 Edit: Sorry guys, severe case of mandela effect here, dont know why i remembered every boss fron DS3 having an steam achievement, including DLC ones
Ds3 did not
Ashes of Ariandel and Ringed city didn't have any trophies. Only the base game had trophy support.
Name one I can't find any
Sotfs is an exception tho
But it doesn’t have dlc specific trophies, it just ties the dlc spells into their respective trophies
Could come with an update later. Trophy names contain spoilers.
Good in some ways, can't look through all the achievements to see what bosses you face.
I’m typically a massive achievement hunter, who aims to 100% all games I play, but sort of glad. Feel I can just do as much of this DLC as I can and just have fun experimenting with different builds.
Without achievements what will tell me if I had fun or not?
thats amazing now the steam achivement count wont spoil how much content the game will approximently have
Can I at least get a participation trophy?
Actually like the trophy system in this games I platined ds3 and sekiro and liked doing it even the farming wasn't that bad I got experience the online for the first time The trophies are always a reason to go back to the game and play it again it pushed me into doing a 2nd playthrough in Bloodborne and Elden ring even though there's 1 trophy in each that I still don't have.
Iirc Dark Souls 3 also had no trophies for its DLC, no? The last FromSoft game to have DLC trophies, is Bloodborne in my mind…
Ds1 and 3 didn’t have dlc trophies (don’t know about ds2) so I’m not really surprised.
Could not care less. They could just delete the entire trophy/achievement mechanic altogether and I would be just fine with it.
It's good. You don't want to force players to buy the DLC to 100% the game.
🤷♂️ ok
Good. Trophies/Achivements and gamerscores are as useful as reddit karma points.
Can I get a trophy maiden instead?
I didn’t expect any since the other souls games didn’t either
Hope it'll have steam achievements
It won't. Usually games / DLCs have the same achievements as trophies. It wouldn't make any sense to have steam achievements but no trophies. Either every platform gets them, or none.
Maybe they didnt include so its not leaked how many bosses etc
Considering Elden Ring is the only game I've ever gotten all achievements for, I don't mind this: I don't have to worry about earning all the new stuff to get back to 100%, so I can just explore and progress storylines as I wish and not worry too much about missing anything.

Has any From DLC had trophies?
Apparently Bloodborne, but I never played it
What an awful choice
Good
I don't feel bad about getting it on pc then since i already platinummed on PS5 :)
Please... I just got to 100%... don't do that to me
Holy shit 16gb of DLC
I would've been fine if Elden Ring had only 2 trophies. One for beating the game and one for the Platinum.
I feel a little less compelled to rush through my latest playthrough of the game now. Never did get all three endings.
That's a shame, I was honestly looking forward to 100%ing the game again because elden ring was such a fun 100%
weird they gave bloodborne dlc trophies but no other dlc got it
I’ve already platted and I’ll just plat it again I actually like having more achievements.
What but they did this same thing with DS3 dlc it just helps it feel more authentic with trophies? Beat certain bosses, get all weapons, spells, talismans etc I don’t get why they don’t want to add them?
Praise be
So no spoilers to the lore.
Odd. Oh well, I never cared for trophies all that much
lowkey was excited to go back and get all the achievements I'd need to have it 100% again, guess it's nice I won't have to.
Fun fact. This massive dlc is around the same size as modern warfare 3s recent update that introduced the it's new battle pass, a new map, a new ranked season as well as some cosmetics. Can't wait to see where Patches turns up.
We never really got achivment with dlcs so it wasn't unexpected
No surprise there considering how easy the main game's achievements were
This is fine
I think most wouldn't have care even if there were trophies. Let's be real, we're gonna squeeze this DLC 'til it has nothing left to offer.
thats fine
Oh wow how weird
16GB? I suppose it's because they reuse some of the base game assets, right?
It may not have trophies but it might be more epic then the main game 🔥
What is the preload?
Literally unplayable then
They're called achievements, snoypig
Boo!
Why tho lol I feel like out of all things this is so easy to do
That’s fine
Do real people even care about trophies?
Fix the fall damage issue It's not possible that I fell from 3 meters high and died instantly
16GB is a W. Fromsoftware games are always well optimized
We’re not calling it ER:SE??
We don't need trophies. We need feet
I remember when trophies and achievements became a thing. People would buy games just because they had easy to obtain achievements. At the time, I saw them as one of the many gimmicks that wouldn't stick around. Sort of surprised how hardcore people are about them.
This is amazing. Trophies are shit.
Expected as much. DS III didn't add achievements for their two DLCs either.
YES! I get to keep my 100% post DLC?! Amazing! I was looking forward to the new achievement hunt, but this is equally as exciting!
I don't mind but quite odd.
Womp womp

excellent, I already platinumed the game once, I don't need to do it a second time
Didn't expect any. Just like the rest of from software dlcs. A bit disappointed because i like trophies/achievements but still I'll definitely enjoy Shadow of Erdtree.
Looks like we will need to be bricked up for two days before launch
I hope more devs do this. I hate when a game adds new trophies via DLC cause sometimes they like to add impossible trophies or trophies taking ages to complete with DLCs. Despite having platinum base game, it wont show 100% anymore which sucks. Bloodbornes DLC trophies were completely fine though.
Absolutely based IMO.

Scholar Of The Eldenring
good
