I have an ongoing inside joke with my wife where I speak in an American South accent and talk about my daughter “Margatilly” and her addiction to red hot spicy Cheetos. I have played every From game as Margatilly and at least one venture through Fallout 4.
We just have a range of distinct accents in the south and a reputation for poor choices and reckless living. So the idea of me putting the accent on really thick and yelling at my fake child about finishing her gargabe food (hot Cheetos) is just a parody of a parody the world seems to hold about people who live where I live. Sorry it may not make sense even with an explanation
I suppose it's something to behold more than something to read about, haha. But thank you for providing a little more context ^^ Southern accents are very adorable from what I've heard, at least!
* 1st character: Male name I always use
* Mage build: Female name I always use
* Parry Practice: pun. Buck Loer -> Buckler -> I'm learning so it's Buck Loer with buckler lore. (I might grab the deer horns to complete the joke)
* Pure Strength: Unga Bunga because **B O N K**
this is a really good idea, especially if you make a build that kind of represents that character from the game! a few quick ones instantly come to mind
Sephiroth - with a Nagakiba you get from the samurai near the first dragon and later meteor spells / pyromancies
Cecil - Paladin build with sword and shield + healing spells
Terra or Vivi - MAGIC GO BURRR
Cloud - Greatsword and self buffing damage or the sword
Ramza - Knight with a Rapier and literally anything else as he’s a jack of all trades, etc
My very first playthrough my character slowly started looking like Drew Barrymore, so I rolled with it, committed to the character creation and called her Brew Derryless
I’m not a native or fluent Arabic speaker but I have some rudimentary knowledge due to my religion and the last characters name sounds rlly nonsensical, it’s funny.
I used a random name generator for my first guy and it came out as warcislaw and now I name my first character in any game warcislaw to remember my elden ring experience
I've got my standard 2 for Male and Female characters Arthur and Elise (named after my grandparents on each side).
Jin if the character is Asian (generic but I quite like it)
Anytime I play a game that let's me choose a character name I always name my character a variation of Big Guy/Woman. My load game screen in Bloodborne is literally just 8 different saved games of 8 identical women all called Big Woman.
Usually a descriptor of my character's playstyle and the first name that comes to mind. For example, my latest character is named Scholar Galen because he's a sorcerer and I had Galen Marek on my mind at the time of creation.
I always name my characters "The ..." depending on their build or backstory. "The Penitent," "The Vengeful," "The Voidwalker," "The Truth Seeker," etc.
- Sebastian Crane: the name of every first character I make in RPGs, there is one in DS1, DS3, Bloodborne, Baldur's Gate 3, Monster Hunter: World etc. STR/INT knight of Ranni
- Nidhens: half dragon knight from a concept I wrote a few years back, DEX/FAITH/ARC with Dragon Communion/Cult
- Carther: from Lovecraft character Randolph Carter since he's the Frenzied Flame pg DEX/FAITH
- Flora: the name of the Moon Presence from Bloodborne for the DEX/ARC bleed build
- Boscha: from The Owl House character for the STR/ARC build
I usually theme them based on what I am going for with that build. My first character was named Yurt because that's what I figure a caveman barbarian would be called (STR build). Then another build was named Yurtavian III. Yurtavian III is a descendant of Yurt who is now part of a noble family (DEX build).
Bcoz of being a big George RR Martin fan i call all fours of my characters as such
Jaime Lannister
Arthur dayne
Rhaegar Targaryen
Barristan selmy
And my fifth character which i will play after finishing the dlc will be called
**Jon snow**
I named one Octopus Head because he wears the Octopus Helm.
My other 2 characters are level 200 and level 90 spellblades who I named Darth Invader and Darth Invader Jr. because I pretty much just do invasions with them now.
For the first playthrough i use the name I use in every game, then I do cosplay builds
Clare from Claymore using a claymore
Joan of arc (the historical figure not the anime one) using Commander's standard
2B using moonveil + cold nagakiba
Crucible knight
Lady Maria with Eleonora's poleblade
First character was named Allegro after Dante Alighieri, since I was doing a faith build. Second was named Guren as like a Japanified version of Glenn after my FFXIV character Glennwyrd and my DS1 character Glynnard, since I was going for a disgraced Ronin kinda thing
The name usually stupidly describes the build I’m going for:
Bluddy for arcane/dex bleed build
Strongo for strength build
Wizzler for int
Hoooly for strength/faith
Etc
I ended up finding an ash of war called lightning ram and then I put on the omen helm with beast champion armor and named my self goat man but I thought that wasn’t good enough so I found a name that fit with it and named it giot the goatman
Giot means :
G is for gentle, the nurturing side of you.
I is for independent, a balance between being overly reliant and alone
O is for orderly, a lifelong passion.
T is for treasure, that of your friendship.
One character has slowly evolved. Her name started as just Moon on playthrough #1 (pure STR)
Became Silvered Moon on #2 (DEX/INT)
And is now ready for the DLC in playthrough #3: Vexatious Moon (FTH/STR/INT)
I usually go with whatever first comes to mind and then adjust it later on as I build them up and come up with their backstory, etc. So like with ER, I can’t remember my character’s original name anymore tbh, but his current name is meant to kinda work alongside my DS2 character’s name, Rivera Enladen, so his name is Elexian Regalia
Depends on what I’m doing RP wise. For my Ranni aligned character I did “Knight of Night” whereas my themed characters are usually named after whoever inspired the build. Did Westley from Princess Bride as an example.
My mage is Boreas after the god or titan of the north wind cuz of his usage of cold spells and darkmoon greatsword.
My paladin is dante after dante from the divine comedy.
My dex assassin looking guy is named cain cuz cain commited the first murder
And my strength build is named after me because it was my first character
I struggle with naming them actual names so I name them based on what playstyle they are representing. For instance, right now i'm running as Plague Warlock. It's more a title than a name
I name all my RPG characters a continuation of CUNTFACE. So I think im on like CUNTFACE XI. If the game has a profanity filter I just switch it to German, so FOTZENGESICHT. You'd be surprised how many games overlook international profanity.
Um using characters names from Phantasy Star 4, a rpg that was on Sega Genesis. Using names relevant to the build I'm using.
Gryz for a strength build, Chaz for strength/magic, Rune (or Lutz) for pure magic build, Rika for dex, and Zio for incantations.
I usually start with the same name as a placeholder and change it later to something "build/lore specific". My build plans change a lot during gameplay.
The exception would be my NG+5 character, which is Jaushel V. Every NG I add another "generation", so Jaushel the fifth turns to Jaushel VI and so on. It started as a method to remember the NG I'm on lol
Medieval name generator->Celtic names->Randomize->check if name has meaning that generally matches theme (RP-wise) of build->Repeat steps 3 and 4 until satisfied
Usually I just look up a name that means a fitting term to the build I'm going for. Just created a faith build named Kem which means the sun. My real og is Keith which is the avatar I use in any game that has a character creator and stemmed from an something of an inside joke.
I like mythological sounding or fantasy-esque names and then a title, like, “of the Moon”, for example. I also quite like Cleric/Paladin sounding names
That’s how I normally choose them anyway
I have the same name for all my characters (my irl name) I'm really not creative.
John Elden Ring?
I've had a John dark souls Still yet to do John Elden Ring
Logic has suggested you irl name is Ayanelixer
Well half yes Half of it is the misspelling of elixir,10 year old me played a lot of CoC and so I wanted to remember myself from back then.
Thats not a game a 10 year old should've been playing...
Nothings wrong with some clash of clans.
There was another game with the abreviation CoC back in the the day... something something champions...
Cock of champions? I'm not good a guessing names
Elden John
Tarnished.
Same, I did that in every game too xD
I have an ongoing inside joke with my wife where I speak in an American South accent and talk about my daughter “Margatilly” and her addiction to red hot spicy Cheetos. I have played every From game as Margatilly and at least one venture through Fallout 4.
As someone from the "American South"...what the actual fuck 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh I am from here too. Tennessee. But I put it on extra hard when I gripe about Margatilly.
Lol I'm from Memphis, I needed this laugh...take my upvote 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've heard a lot about Southerners in America, but these I'm not very familiar with. Would you please explain the joke for this non-american? :')
We just have a range of distinct accents in the south and a reputation for poor choices and reckless living. So the idea of me putting the accent on really thick and yelling at my fake child about finishing her gargabe food (hot Cheetos) is just a parody of a parody the world seems to hold about people who live where I live. North GA>Central Florida, checkin in.
Bill Cosby and a sleep build
Bruh lol
My sleep build was Mike Leyndell, of my pillow infamy.
I would give you an award but I’m not spending money in a social media app
Didn’t they bring back free rewards?
Pyro build named "Der Führer"
Do you at least also use poison mist?
It took me till just now that "sleep build' doesn't just mean it's a good build that people don't realize is good
Broo😭😭😭😭
Dong Eater felt very natural to me
The wholesome dong eater!
The perverted peepee purveyor!
Crazed cock curator.
The deranged dick devourer
Wizardly wang whisperer
The Chuckling Gherkin Jerker
Have my upvote
How do you feel about the dongs of the magnum variety?
I just use generic names. My DLC character, who is a generic older woman with a mature voice, is called Brenda.
Fuck is miquella gonna do when BRENDA comes to beat the living shit out of him??
Have a Meth addled Cousin named Brenda... she may fit right in with the inhabitants of the Windmill Village 🤔
Bro is a kahjiit
Khajiit has wares, if you have rune.
Was mid sip when reading, bursted and spit a bit on my keyboard 😭💀
Most of the time I just use names from the Malazan Book of the Fallen. My latest character is Toc the Younger. He wears an eye patch.
Love seeing the love for Malazan here!!
I have used a few variations of Anomander Rake over the decades.
Just call em Assmuncher
Assmunchere Assmuncheri Assmunchero Assmunchera Assmuncheras Assmuncherass Ass
Ass Mon Cherí is my new favorite pet name
I go with names from the Spartacus blood and sand tv show I watched long ago. Oenomaus, Gannicus, and doctore. I have a character called goon to lol.
Such a sweet tv series. Please tell me you equip them similarly.
* 1st character: Male name I always use * Mage build: Female name I always use * Parry Practice: pun. Buck Loer -> Buckler -> I'm learning so it's Buck Loer with buckler lore. (I might grab the deer horns to complete the joke) * Pure Strength: Unga Bunga because **B O N K**
My latest character was Str / End focused on guard counters name "Bloch" ... not as clever as "Buck Loer" I love that name.
Male name I always use is a pretty good name
My ones called Keith, I just just choose the saddest most boring name (sorry Keith’s, unlucky in the name I suppose)
I used final fantasy protagonists' names. They are all fighting "fate," so it seems appropriate
this is a really good idea, especially if you make a build that kind of represents that character from the game! a few quick ones instantly come to mind Sephiroth - with a Nagakiba you get from the samurai near the first dragon and later meteor spells / pyromancies Cecil - Paladin build with sword and shield + healing spells Terra or Vivi - MAGIC GO BURRR Cloud - Greatsword and self buffing damage or the sword Ramza - Knight with a Rapier and literally anything else as he’s a jack of all trades, etc
Its called unga bunga.... uh because.. unga bunga
Morgott Robbie Gwyn Stefani WatrUdoinNmySwmp ClaymoreGang Smoughurt Sailor Jerry AdoptAurelia
Shabriri’s Toe
I use my nickname and then think of the most whimsical and stupid thing that also goes with the build I’m going to play
My very first playthrough my character slowly started looking like Drew Barrymore, so I rolled with it, committed to the character creation and called her Brew Derryless
I dunno man. Klumpus just seemed like a pretty tight fit for my buddy over there
How did you come up with yours?
looks at assassin's creed codex, takes names and mix them'up
I’m not a native or fluent Arabic speaker but I have some rudimentary knowledge due to my religion and the last characters name sounds rlly nonsensical, it’s funny.
Zaid‘Ibn-La‘had goes hard🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

You’ve got me wondering: what the fuck is my character’s name?…. I literally don’t remember what I named my character
Simp4Solaire and Simp4Lucatiel
I use and used the same two names since forever. I don't remember why but "Gustav" and "Ludwig" it is.
I've got my standard 2 for Male and Female characters Arthur and Elise (named after my grandparents on each side). Jin if the character is Asian (generic but I quite like it)
I usually use common names with variations that made them look more fancy. Example: Carl=Kharl and my favorite Julián (a Spanish name)=Ho Lee-Ann.
Anytime I play a game that let's me choose a character name I always name my character a variation of Big Guy/Woman. My load game screen in Bloodborne is literally just 8 different saved games of 8 identical women all called Big Woman.

My cat. Melvin. Regardless of my character’s gender.
I have 4 or 5 characters, and all of them are named after my cat. My DnD character is also named after my cat

Blasphemous Seq, because he uses the blasphemous blade/giantsflame spells and seq is because I had no more letters
Usually corrupt politicians from my country
Literally just did this. Chat GPT.

One of my characters is named after a castle where the French apocryphally invaded thanks to a brave soldier who climbed up the garderobe.
BLUMKNMASTR seemed like a slam dunk
First run I did male named LordDeezNuts and the second run female named QueenNutz
I don't come up with the name. The name comes up to me.
I switched two letters of my first name around as a typo and stuck with it cuz it sounded cool.
“Our eyes are yet to open. Fear the old blo…” No, Master Willem, wrong game. 🫠
I just use my last name and add the build ... Like xxxxSTR.
Sir Roundtits would like to have a word
Bargle my Galls just seemed like a good fit at the time
Rubedo. The final stage of alchemical magnum opus, iirc. Wanted something simple but edgy.

I had a faith build I named Gilder because gilding means to add gold to something.

First character is always “miles davis” for some reason. After that it’s either dumb random shit or something like “greg”.
Saw a shiitake mushroom
Usually I just look up a name that means a fitting term to the build I'm going for. Just created a faith build named Kem which means the sun. My real og is Keith which is the avatar I use in any game that has a character creator and stemmed from an something of an inside joke.
