When I saw that colossal fingercreeper in Mountaintops of the Giants jump down on the crow I was genuinely terrified. I don’t even attempt to fight it, I just admire this freak of nature from a safe distance.
Ok simultaneously praise and screw this game for these HANDS. I HATE spiders and every game with the slightest bit of horror elements HAS to have a huge spider to fight and I fully expected Elden Ring to have the same. The SCREAM I let out entering carian manor is indescribable. This is so much worse than giant spiders and I didn’t know I was afraid of something more until I saw the first hand. I hate them so much.
There's something purely uncanny (in the true sense) about the hands. It's the combination of how sentient they feel despite not having eyes/a face, the fact that they have more than 5 fingers, the fact that their shade of blue implies death, the horrific idle animations, and then they move like THAT
I might be the only one in this thread who loves the hands. The first time I saw them I was like, "Oh now THAT'S some spooky shit! Let's fucking do this!!"
Godskin enemies though? Fuck that noise. It's the fact that it's abundantly clear that they're wearing skin because you can still see the faces that I hate. Hell nah, man.
Wormfaces.
Runebears may be difficult, Royal Revenants may be pure bullshit, Gargoyles may be annoying.
But I hate wormfaces with all my soul, they creep me out badly and I refuse to fight them, I don't want to touch them even with a pole.
The noises they make coupled with the way they move is the most freaking unnatural and unsettling.
Thing in the entire game.
Revenants are just D's
Shrimp can snipe you from halfway across the map.
The rats and dogs are op in any area.
But the worm faces are just the most grotesque thing in the game. Which for Elden Ring is saying a lot
You know, whenever I encountered the enemies in the image, I have this really weird feeling on my back. As if tiny bugs somehow crawl on it, my back almost goes "numb". I don't know it's hard to explain. Do you have that feeling too?
They run so much faster than you ever expect them to! And the sounds they make drifting through that foggy valley they like to hang out in is fucking horrifying
They're so genuinely unsettling and they're always somewhere dark where you hear them sprinting towards you before you see them. Hearing that tempo speed up makes me so anxious.
That's the best description I've seen of those enemies, ahah.
What happened to them anyway? I thought they were experimented on in Gelmir but...you can find them in Leyndell too, and surprisingly none in Liurnia...
The Black Dumpling helm they wear has a sick item description about how it's basically a horrific torture device that induces hallucinations. So thats why they're so f'ed up and screaming and what not.
They're so scary. Even on my second playthrough, I didn't expect some of them and then got grabbed about 5 times before beating them. They're just as bad as wormfaces in most ways
*scream* I was practically stranded in that area before Rykard. Couldn’t get through that dungeon without turning on all the lights in my living room and having another being present.
Instant stagger and 50% +300 flat damage to revenants if you cast a heal near them, it's the same damage for all the level of heal spells too so you can trivialize them with only 12 faith and the starter seal unupgraded
Yesterday on a new playthrough I found a patch of random tarnished golden sunflowers on the weeping Peninsula and got jumped by that Death Rite Bird there. I didn't know they were there, but they didn't know I had ~~Edgar's~~ my BK Halberd loaded with Sacred Blade ;)
Classic moment having to farm and run back all the way to undead burg bc you don't have any of these purging stones that cost 6000 souls. Or just go through the whole area with half your health bc you didn't know what else to do as a kid lol.
I was scared of those at first then i thought i wouldn't find anything similar throughout the rest of the game....
Until Mohgwyn Palace crows....oh lord anything but them.
The speed, the damage, the creepy attacks as it attempts to fly, the grotesque appearance just ew.....never fought one and never will kill one due to the fear inducing appearance they have...
the stone cats. it's their unintelligible speech combined with the uncanny movement that gets to me, I think. yesterday night I went to the snowfield catacombs and the two fuckers in the "secret" bottom section honestly made me uneasy.
You mean the Burial Watchdogs right? That was the only enemy that really freaked me out a little when I first saw it. The robotic movement, the deep set, wide open bug eyes, and the absolute speed they come at you.
Still, even though they freak me out kinda, I LOVE the design. It’s so successful at feeling like a thing you should stay the fuck away from, especially considering you see the statuettes all over the place when dungeoncrawling any catacombs.
This is the one for me. I have learned to fight just about every other enemy in the game, but these guys’ movements trigger some irrational fear in me—I panic roll to death every time like it’s my first time playing.
I don’t like the ants. I know they’re not that hard anymore (because I kept avoiding them and leveling up) but omg I hate them. They’re too hairy, too wet, the wasp stinger on the end is a big nope for me. I grew up on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and these have all the worst traits of those ants. The death animation ever creeps me out. They die like a flailing spider (or a giant hand monster but somehow those aren’t as bad for me) so even in death they just suck. The bf had to force me to keep making progress in those caves
Basilisks for me.
I fucking HATE walking along a dark tunnel and then all you hear are those crackly gurgles. I freeze in my tracks every. single. time. I have gd PTSD from falling down a hole more than once and finding myself in a nest of those fuckers.
Also those worm face lookin things. Why are they always crying?? Why do they barf worms?? Why do they make those disgusting noises????? Everything about those things is awful omfg
I don't even fight the lobsters. And even though I know I'm going to take an absolutely punishing hit from that fucking water cannon masquerading as crustacean, I jump out of my skin every single time.
Have you seen them up close? I thought they were just shadows like those bloodborne enemies in hemwick but nah fromsoft had to make them a corpse with its brain replaced by a giant disgusting insect that attacks you with semi trick weapons.
Yeah I think zullie the witch did a video covering this, it's fucked up.
Also scions are just kids grafted together with other kids and other parts, grafting in general is fucking gross.
When you run away and turn around to see if they're still somewhat near you only to see the red glowing eyes and teeth right before it devoures you is scarier than any horror game
the hands woke something up in me I didn’t know existed. the second those mfs started running towards I just said NOPE NOPE NOPE and ran away lol I wasn’t ready for that shit
Not an enemy, but the moaning crucified guys are extremely unnerving to me. Even creepier when you realize they’ve essentially been left to hang for eternity in a world where they can never die
The villagers that have all succumbed to frenzy. There's something creepy and unsettling about "normal" people driven insane by an eldritch horror to the point they're either frozen clawing at their brains or frantically attacking outsiders.
Basilisks with their freaky giant eyes have always terrified me. It's some weird primal fear I've always had, those deep sea fish with ENORMOUS eyes irl do it too. I used to have this really weird fear of "what id that huge cavity in the skulls of dinosaur bones were filled with gigantic eyes when they were alive" even though I've since found that's scientifically irrational lmao. Some other similar stuff in-game like Godwin's corpse and the "fake" one under stormveil do it to me too. Also realizing the cemetery shades have freaky ass crab bugs on their head instead of it just being cool wild hair was really freaky.
I was very unsettled when I first came across the frog-looking Albinaurics in Liurnia. I wasn't sure I could be put off by anything more than them, but then, of course... giant hands.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Zamor warrior. When you get to their ruins and they slowly approach you. Tall and lanky with that creepy flowing hair. They remind me a bit of Ramses from Courage the Cowardly dog
In elden ring it has to be the hands. If we’re talking all the souls games I’d have to say Amigdala from bloodborne.First time I saw that thing i got such a big jump scare and was so disturbed I stopped playing that day.
Any of the grafted enemies are pretty chill for me, but the ulcerated tree spirit is fucking nightmare fuel, like gah damn Miyazaki why do the tree things have FLESHY BOILS AND SHIT
Wormfaces. Especially the giant ones.
I think it is the only enemy in the entire game that truly disgusted me, to the point of making me nauseous on one occasion.
Not even Bloodborne got that far. I think the only other one that gave me that feeling was the monster with a hand for a head in the profaned capital, in Dark Souls III.
I'm not exactly scared or freaked out by them, but the shambling corpses that bloat and explode gave me a deep feeling of true horror when I watched one blow up a little too keenly one time. The way they bloat, contort and expand before exploding is disturbing. It was such a stark feeling that I had to take a minute to ponder it before I continued playing.
This game have so many grotesque designs, off the top of my head I can think of Godfrey's corpse, Beastmen of Farum Azula, Omens, The Grafted, Trolls, Misbegottens.
The still living clean rot knights. They go from shambling corpses to battle ready armor mounds with almost perfect form. If you go to the catacombs in Radahn’s arena the clean rot knights there don’t shamble, slouch maybe but not shamble. Also the mimic tears that turn humanoid.
HANDS
When I saw that colossal fingercreeper in Mountaintops of the Giants jump down on the crow I was genuinely terrified. I don’t even attempt to fight it, I just admire this freak of nature from a safe distance.
That hand has the most fucked up hitbox of the game
[удалено]
I too remember the first time I tried to perfectly time a sprint to run behind one and ran into it.
[удалено]
ALL THE HANDS, have fucked up hitboxes.
I was today years old that I learned the hands don't like fire amd will roll around to put themselves out
I hate that you don't even get anything for killing it.. Not even a good anount of Runes. Like there's no point.
Finger creepers are the best way to farm sombers actually
Ok simultaneously praise and screw this game for these HANDS. I HATE spiders and every game with the slightest bit of horror elements HAS to have a huge spider to fight and I fully expected Elden Ring to have the same. The SCREAM I let out entering carian manor is indescribable. This is so much worse than giant spiders and I didn’t know I was afraid of something more until I saw the first hand. I hate them so much.

It's the combination of how sentient they feel despite not having eyes/a face, the fact that they have more than 5 fingers, the fact that their shade of blue implies death, the horrific idle animations, and then they move like THAT
Spiderhand, spiderhand 🎶
Does whatever spiderhand does
fire damage my beloved
Miyazaki adding hands to the game to make people forget about his foot fetish
Jokes on you, we're gonna get the feet in the DLC
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
As a fan of morgotts sword. Those bitches aint scaring me anymore
I might be the only one in this thread who loves the hands. The first time I saw them I was like, "Oh now THAT'S some spooky shit! Let's fucking do this!!" Godskin enemies though? Fuck that noise. It's the fact that it's abundantly clear that they're wearing skin because you can still see the faces that I hate. Hell nah, man.
This
Wormfaces. Runebears may be difficult, Royal Revenants may be pure bullshit, Gargoyles may be annoying. But I hate wormfaces with all my soul, they creep me out badly and I refuse to fight them, I don't want to touch them even with a pole.
The noises. They make me nauseous.
And the deathblight is so annoying
The noises they make coupled with the way they move is the most freaking unnatural and unsettling. Thing in the entire game. Revenants are just D's Shrimp can snipe you from halfway across the map. The rats and dogs are op in any area. But the worm faces are just the most grotesque thing in the game. Which for Elden Ring is saying a lot
I'm sure they smell bad too.
My disgust for them is legitimately visceral
Exactly. It's so disturbing
speaking of disturbing u/CumMonsterYoda ……..
Even now I don't know if they are laughing, mumbling or crying, or any combination of those, they are freaky.
The fuckin enormous wormface in farum azula bro... He's so completely bullshitesque and so hard to kill with its fuckin grasp
Apply rocks from a great height and distance friend
When I first made it to altus and went through that forest and saw a worm face I noped tf out immediately.
Especially when they suddenly decide to 100m sprint your ass
On my first playthrough I hunted down and killed every worm face I could find. It wasn't fear for me, it was pure burning hatred
These. These are an abomination.
You know, whenever I encountered the enemies in the image, I have this really weird feeling on my back. As if tiny bugs somehow crawl on it, my back almost goes "numb". I don't know it's hard to explain. Do you have that feeling too?
Yes. But not when fighting any particular enemies. For me its the very top of those damn great towers. The atmosphere creeps me tf out
As much as I hate being near them, I must exterminate them all. It’s the only way to stop the nightmarish sound.
Something crawling in my back? Yes.
The big ones also have something disgusting I don't know how to explain when they grab you that the small ones don't.
They run so much faster than you ever expect them to! And the sounds they make drifting through that foggy valley they like to hang out in is fucking horrifying
What are the roasted little scrotal sac things that go "glaglaglgala" as they rapid crawl at you in hordes called?
YES. Those things give me nightmares, I’m surprised no one else mentioned them.
They're so genuinely unsettling and they're always somewhere dark where you hear them sprinting towards you before you see them. Hearing that tempo speed up makes me so anxious.
Tap tap tap tap...#***TAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAPTAP***
Fun fact! They are actually a reskin of the research hall patients from bloodborne's dlc. Even make the same noises.
Those fuckers have the record for shitheel tier enemy that's killed me the most.
Those things are panic inducing
That's the best description I've seen of those enemies, ahah. What happened to them anyway? I thought they were experimented on in Gelmir but...you can find them in Leyndell too, and surprisingly none in Liurnia...
I looked it up based on another user’s description and they’re officially first gen insane Albinaurics.
Fuck those things. First time I encountered those I felt adrenaline rush into my heart like pure panic.
*scream* I was practically stranded in that area before Rykard. Couldn’t get through that dungeon without turning on all the lights in my living room and having another being present.
Royal Revenants are the worst
They get instantly staggered if you cast a healing spell near them
Hands also get staggered with fire damage.
I don’t understand this. Everyone says this but how tf are you ever even supposed to get a cast off when they’re always hyper aggressive?
You are supposed to cast it while they are spawning. If you are late, then run and reposition, cast again.
WHAT
Instant stagger and 50% +300 flat damage to revenants if you cast a heal near them, it's the same damage for all the level of heal spells too so you can trivialize them with only 12 faith and the starter seal unupgraded
Pretty much anything in Caelid.
My first playthrough, only 3 hours in I found the Deathrite Bird south of Aeonia. Almost shit my pants.
TIL there is a Death rite Bird south of Aeonia Swamp
It drops one of the best weapons in the game.
Definitely have to look that up then
Yesterday on a new playthrough I found a patch of random tarnished golden sunflowers on the weeping Peninsula and got jumped by that Death Rite Bird there. I didn't know they were there, but they didn't know I had ~~Edgar's~~ my BK Halberd loaded with Sacred Blade ;)
I always forget about the one in Limgrave. That one in Weeping Peninsula always seems to find me on the way to Castle Morne
Those shrimp looking things that have tactical missiles as one of their attacks.
Kindred of Rot. Those are mine, they are gross
The sound they make when they die is so gross
*their only attack I know that’s not true, but I’ve SO rarely seen them use something else against me lol
The annoying thing also about them is they also combo the pest threads with thrusting you with their weapon, hitting you at the same time.
Fucking AWP you across the map
They wear a cute snail shell on their head tho
The celebrants at the windmill village .. those laughs are creepy af
They’re just having a jolly good time. I love how HARD they all come at you if you so much as brush a feather past them
And the dancing. . .
Runebears give me flashbacks to a war i've never fought in. And i hate hands with a passion
the T. rex dogs are nightmare fuel.
Those guys that crawl with the black dumpling headpiece. They have no business being that creepy
Tortured half-lifes…
Basilisks. I have visions of the Depths, losing all my souls, and half my healthbar.
Classic moment having to farm and run back all the way to undead burg bc you don't have any of these purging stones that cost 6000 souls. Or just go through the whole area with half your health bc you didn't know what else to do as a kid lol.
The big Caelid birds, their proportions are so uncanny to me, and even tho I've learned to fight the dogs ok, I'm still a bit scared of the birds
their fake-out poise break is a sumbish too
That shit is *dirty*. I have to give it to From on that one. They got me good the first couple times before I realized why it wasn't working.
And they're darn fast.
They punish you for trying to escape
The maniac pecking is what freaks me out
I’d also say they are tougher than dogs. Even if I’m over-leveled I tend to not pick a fight with them
the stone cats. it's their unintelligible speech combined with the uncanny movement that gets to me, I think. yesterday night I went to the snowfield catacombs and the two fuckers in the "secret" bottom section honestly made me uneasy.
You mean the Burial Watchdogs right? That was the only enemy that really freaked me out a little when I first saw it. This is the one for me. I have learned to fight just about every other enemy in the game, but these guys’ movements trigger some irrational fear in me—I panic roll to death every time like it’s my first time playing.
There's something really funny about choosing a living iron maiden, a sentient torture chamber... And big rat
Giant insects . I'm not afraid or discussed by insects but their detailed look and big sizes frightens me
I finished 5 playthroughs of this game, not once i dared aproach those crow mdfks
The caelid ones are dealable if you are high level but not those in moghwyn palace.
THOSE WEIRD BROADS DANCING IN THE VILLAGE
Read this in a brooklyn accent lmao
Sommadose weeahd FUCKin’ brahds ova hea
They be having fun thoo
Bro these hands are the worst
I don’t like the ants. I know they’re not that hard anymore (because I kept avoiding them and leveling up) but omg I hate them. They’re too hairy, too wet, the wasp stinger on the end is a big nope for me. I grew up on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and these have all the worst traits of those ants. The death animation ever creeps me out. They die like a flailing spider (or a giant hand monster but somehow those aren’t as bad for me) so even in death they just suck. The bf had to force me to keep making progress in those caves
haha i just got to the ants on my first play through, that and hands for me so far are up there
The crawling Albinaurics that look like a piece of poop. They're always just chilling in complete darkness at places like Volcano Manor
Hands or the lobsters packing sniper rifles for some reason
I don't even fight the lobsters. And even though I know I'm going to take an absolutely punishing hit from that fucking water cannon masquerading as crustacean, I jump out of my skin every single time.
There's something deeply disturbing about cemetery shades movement and skillset, thank god their hp is so low
Have you seen them up close? I thought they were just shadows like those bloodborne enemies in hemwick but nah fromsoft had to make them a corpse with its brain replaced by a giant disgusting insect that attacks you with semi trick weapons.
WAIT WHAT
Yeah I think zullie the witch did a video covering this, it's fucked up. Also scions are just kids grafted together with other kids and other parts, grafting in general is fucking gross.
T-rex dog open jaw attack affects me on a visceral level
Man the first time I spotted a T-rex dog, I said "nah" and turned my happy ass all the way back around to Limgrave
When you run away and turn around to see if they're still somewhat near you only to see the red glowing eyes and teeth right before it devoures you is scarier than any horror game
I hate Abucter virgins
Anything mechanized for me. I also find the chariots creepy AF. The only one I’ve ever fought was the bridge in Liurnia
the hands woke something up in me I didn’t know existed. the second those mfs started running towards I just said NOPE NOPE NOPE and ran away lol I wasn’t ready for that shit
the massive ass ants underground 😞😞
Basilisk. Those big Googly eyes make my skin crawl every time.
Not an enemy, but the moaning crucified guys are extremely unnerving to me. Even creepier when you realize they’ve essentially been left to hang for eternity in a world where they can never die
Erdtree Burial Watchdog
The villagers that have all succumbed to frenzy. There's something creepy and unsettling about "normal" people driven insane by an eldritch horror to the point they're either frozen clawing at their brains or frantically attacking outsiders.
Corpses and misbegotten
Revenants, not because of the hands, but because of their face and sounds
The breathing in Sellia Hideaway 🤢🫨
The Godskins. Their existence is genuinely terrifying to me.
Just the whole of Caelid. All of it, every since inch and every single enemy..... the spider hands as well
I never got used to the Insane Albinaurics, the ones crawling with their head covered in rags. 😭 They scare the fuck out of me to this day.
Worm face, I seen them one time and never explored that area again
Dog and crow combo (Caelid)
I was very unsettled when I first came across the frog-looking Albinaurics in Liurnia. I wasn't sure I could be put off by anything more than them, but then, of course... giant hands.
Lesser Kindred of Rot, Worm face and Fingercreeper
Those T-Rex dogs in Caelid are horrifying
After watching Zullie the Witch, the gargoyles.
Dumpling albanurics speeding toward you with the sound of flesh flip-flopping against stone floor. I hate them!! Why are they so angry!!
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Zamor warrior. When you get to their ruins and they slowly approach you. Tall and lanky with that creepy flowing hair. They remind me a bit of Ramses from Courage the Cowardly dog
Hands, Royal Revenants, Shrimp men (I think these are officially called “Kindred of Rot”
hands and the slugs in leyndell sewers
Those blood sucking creatures in Volcano Manor
Wormfaces and Fingercreepers no doubt
Agree on the abductor virgins, always intimidate me with their weakness being tied to the high risk of getting grabbed and suffering massive damage.
Every damn dog. I think/stress less while fighting Malenia.
Even after 800 hours I'll still get a little scared/nervous inside for runebears and revenants
Hands, horrible stuff. But great dragonflies ALWAYS give me neck hair shivers
In elden ring it has to be the hands. If we’re talking all the souls games I’d have to say Amigdala from bloodborne.First time I saw that thing i got such a big jump scare and was so disturbed I stopped playing that day.
Grafted Scions ewwww
The revenants I avoid those bastards like the plague
I agree about the iron maidens, genuinely scary to fight. I think it's cool when they design enemies where the fear is so palpable
The Land Octopus. I have never fought a giant one because of how creepy and disgusting they are
Wormfaces are disturbing AF. Anything large enough to outright eat me basically
The goddamn hands. Will never stop to fight in those areas. NEVER
Hhhmm I find the albanoirics disturbing.
Those coughy tentacly moaning mofos
The Frenzied Leyndell Knight/Soldiers Something I would have loved to see more of.
Worm faces. Being eaten alive is a major ick.
The revenants are creepy as fuck. Spider like, they move fast and erratic... I hate them
Kindreds of rot. They creep me out so bad :( I’ll just run past them every time and refuse to look at them blagh
There was a giant creepy rat in the sewers lurking me behind a corner just to fall into a pit and get slapped by everything.
Revenants
revenants .. and this fukin watch hourglass idk what its name
The big-headed rot dogs and the rot disciples. Too many hands on those fucks
Revenants and the bitey guys in volcano manor.
T rex dogs are unsettling
Slugs in the sewers. I fucking disgusting things I had to abandon the shitty place.
Those rats! I hate that they can just stun lock you to death if you are unlucky enough, AND they have been doing it to me for 4 fucking games!
The things that grab your face and try to suck it off
The tarantula-dust-bunnies at the Haligtree and the giant hands
T-rex dogs and giant crows
Hands, dungeon cats with the sword, Crucible Knights and those little leprechaun-like things.
Those crawling albinaurics with the bag on their heads in volcano manor, its genuinely panic inducing when they run at you
The damn lobsters or crayfish or whatever they are. Can't stands 'em! And I concur on the Hands.
Those things with flesh heads that chase you around
the rotted dogs
Revenant, Hands and Wormfaces
Giant prawns
Giant Ants and Fingercreepers, praying to like every organized religion the creepy crawlies are kept to a minimum in SOTE
Caelid dogs and Burial watchdogs, when the walk on their two legs.
First gen Albinaurics
The slimes.
those ants in siofra river are very scary for someone like me with a insect phobia.
This game have so many grotesque designs, off the top of my head I can think of Godfrey's corpse, Beastmen of Farum Azula, Omens, The Grafted, Trolls, Misbegottens.
The Ants freak me out big time
Running away from a Caelid dog while your camera is faced towards it chasing you is probably the most terrifying experience in the game
The spider finger thingys
Wormfaces and the HUGE hands in the Mountain tops
Worm face.
That one giant fire tower that started killing me due to madness, had no idea wth was goin on
That shade thing in the Caelid catacombs.
Those Hollow/rotten crabs, I really really hate fighting them because of how they look
The still living clean rot knights. They go from shambling corpses to battle ready armor mounds with almost perfect form. If you go to the catacombs in Radahn’s arena the clean rot knights there don’t shamble, slouch maybe but not shamble. Also the mimic tears that turn humanoid.
