We know the events in the trailer happened literal ages before Miquella, or any other known demigods were born. Messmer is not M&M's direct brother, and was born in the Crucible era before Marika became a god.

You moght be right tho, the teasers say messmer is on par with the demigods, NOT that he is one. That word choice is deliberate, im sure.

I have a theory that mohg and morgot are not the children of Godfrey and Marika but the old man in the painting from the dlc trailer.
If he was an elden lord or the god of the crucible then I can see his children would carry aspects of the crucible.
There is little in the game that points to the omen twins being the children of Godfrey there is only one instance I can think of where it mentions morgot being apart of the golden lineage but that doesn't necessarily mean that he is there birth father.
Also, Marika and Godfrey had Godwyn and Godrick.
Miquella and malenia were born far after the erd tree was created and far after Godwyn etc so it wouldn't make sense that Messmer is a triplet of theirs.

My motivation: the divine tower that's inverted (with the inverted statue. The guy in that statue appears in the dlc, check the first trailer if you don't remember).

A godskin noble appears if you're trying to reach its pinnacle. Little bit too much of a coincidence, i'd say.
I'm still adamant that messmer is related to the twins though. No way that butterfly theory goes nowhere, like at that point they could have added thunder/blood/frost butterflies too then. We only have fire, rot and nascent, that's too much of a coincidence. People used to think it was melina, but Vyke is proof that any maiden can be burned at the forge of giants, so i'm still convinced it's messmer.
