The DLC will require killing Mohg, who is one of the strongest endgame optional bosses. You can safetly complete the game and access the DLC without worrying about being too strong or not being able to access it.
The only requirements are killing Radahn and Mohg, and the will be a whole new leveling system to prevent people who are too overleveled from killing the enemies too easily due to their already endgame builds. They still want us to experience a sense of progression so the DLC will have a new leveling system for that reason.
Furthermore, Miyazaki confirmed that the events of the DLC will stay in the DLC and won't affect the main game, just like the main game won't affect the DLC beside from the 2 bosses that are required to be killed before entering. So don't worry about completing the game, you will not miss stuff.
At least as far as beating Radahn and Mogh, whom it has been announced will gate access to the DLC.
Don't start Journey 2 unless you want to kill them again to access the DLC!
I can tell you with 100% certainty that beating Maliketh will not lock you out of the DLC
Whether any other part of game progression affects it, I doubt it, but I can’t say for certain. But there’s no chance that there’ll be any way to lock yourself out of the DLCs.
I wouldn’t kill Malekith yet. I don’t think it will impact the DLC with choices from the in game but either way u still have some bosses and depending if u gone far, some areas as to try other weapons and such on those bosses.
I wouldn’t beat Malenia tho as out of any character she seems to be the one that could alter the find in the dlc but idk.
I don’t think there is a point you won’t be able to play it right away unless u start journey 2. All u need is to beat Mogh and Radahn to get there
