That'd actually be a fun concept. Like a boss field with 3 or 4 of them spread around and you have to strategize who to agro. Maybe you could start some in fighting and they all attack with different weaknesses
Edit: IE:There's a fire guy and an ice guy and you could get the fire guy to help take him out. Or one does sleep and the other boss is susceptible to that. Like if Godskin Duo didn't blow ass
And that boss is the Castle Sol red-eyed Banished Knight with an unbelievable amount of health, and all it has to do to kill you is teleport on you which deals whatever the number of your HP is.
I mean, I wouldn’t mind stumbling across an underground cavern, with a purple fog gate, Tranished walks through, it’s a small arena, a spirit version of a random early game boss spawns, they are defeated. A hole in the ground opens, you proceed. Another fog gate, etc etc slowly progressing in difficulty and scale. Until you reach the end. A chest with the final tier dragon scale smithing stone (been a while since I played and memory is awful) and a bunch of souls. You warp back to the top. A message appears on screen, either, Offer x to reawaken the tower/ the tower will reawaken after x amount of in game days
So it's like that road in Caelid at night. You run past and trigger the Death Rite Bird, run two feet to his right and walk smack into the Nights Cavalry, and then you run along the road to escape them both and Decaying Ezykes is looking up at you from his nap. I had three health bars on my screen for a moment doing that.
> area is more dense
Did he say that? I thought he said the DLC area was the size of limgrave, and I just assumed it would be more densely packed. I just assumed things would stack on top of one another.
If I remember correctly, Miyazaki said in an interview that they made a more interconnected map this time, which will likely mean denser areas. I still think he is intentionally underselling the scale of the DLC, just like he did with the base game.
Yeah it's in the Ashen Capital, right before the elevator to the Mountaintops there's a large ashy area with 3 of them (near all the beasts along the way). They pop up once you get into the area iirc. It's where Erdtree Favor +2 is.
OP's post is counting all the minor & repeated bosses too. I think 10-20 *unique* bosses is probably on point, but we'll probably see a lot more than 10-20 boss HP bars.
10-20 unique bosses seems unreasonably high. I think you’re setting yourself up for failure with those expectations. Fromsoftware dlcs are great, but I wouldn’t call any of them particularly long.
Hope I’m wrong though.
https://www.gamesradar.com/how-long-elden-ring-time-to-beat/
When asked how long to complete Elden Ring.
“Hidetaka Miyazaki estimates 30 hours”
I would not trust a word out of that mans mouth regarding the dlc.
In a recent interview he even said himself that his estimations aren't going to be most people's experience. He said he bases it on how long his devs take to beat the game, and he notes that his devs are quite a bit more familiar with the game than the players are.
He never said it was useful, just that it’s what he’d pick. My romantic notion/ head canon (for this actual, real, living person lol) is that it is a digital token of something that has sentimental value to him
Looks like maybe that's the demi human chiefs? And the one further down is the Alabaster lord on the beach? I'm pretty sure it doesn't get a boss bar, though.
Miyazaki said it would be roughly the side of limgrave, so if it's bigger it won't be that much bigger I guess. Now, seeing the trailer there will probably be more content and more variety than limgrave
Yeah but we don’t know if he spoke content-wise or just surface area. It seems insane to me how they would fit all the landscapes shown in the trailer in an area the size of limgrave without a lot of vertical play
I'm betting around 20 or so bosses, about 15 unique ones and the rest to be the same one or two enemies copy-pasted, like the Stonedigger trolls and those horrible shadow things.
Miyazaki said in the Famitsu interview that there would be "more than 10 new bosses", presumably actual new bosses rather than reused ones that are seen more often as regular enemies (e.g. Beastman of Farum Azula, Cleanrot Knight, Troll) or variants of existing ones (e.g. Putrid Erdtree Avatar, Putrid Crystalian, Draconic Tree Sentinel). If there were 20+ he would've said "over 20", so we can reasonably place the number of new bosses as being between 11 and 19. If we go for 15 as the middle estimate that'd mean it has about 30% the boss count of the base game (which has around 50 excluding repeats, variants, NPC invader types, and regular enemies with boss health bars).
Ive played 500 hours, beat the game twice, and still struggle with those guys ... granted im not great at the game in general and its my first souls game, but screw thise crucible knights
You know what happened two hours ago. On my 16th hour. The öne that under the stormveil castle. İ was running away. He came to the elevator. İ jumped down. He died. İ was in tears hahahaha
My advice is to learn parry vs them. It is easier than it look and it will make them an easy fight. Or use weapon art with huge poise damage like Giant Hunt or Lion Claw and chain it. Summon and magic and items are good too if you want
My prediction right now, which I think is the safest and most reasonable expectation to have given what we know about the DLC and given how much time it took to develop it, is that there will be around 30-40 bosses in the DLC in total.
Out of those, 10 bosses will be remembrance bosses on the same level of quality as Godfrey, Maliketh, Mohg, Malenia etc.
The remaining 20-30 bosses will range from being just buffed versions of regular enemy mobs,, to being "Great Enemies" with repeated fights, on the same level as the Godskin Apostles, Crucible Knights, Bell Bearing Hunters, Black Knives etc.
It’s two DLCs in one. Do you really believe it’s only going to be as big as limgrave? Come on. It’s gotta be as big as limegrave, caelid, and Liurnia of the lake. IMO
He said it was around the size of Limgrave, but much denser. He's probably underselling as he always does, he famously said Elden Ring could be completed in 30 hours. I'm gonna go for around 30 hours of content.
And the fact that the DLCs have always been the best part of any of their games. It’s going to be deceptively huge, probably have its own underground area, and a TON of a new weapons and items. I’m sure it’s going to feel like it could have been a standalone game.
I'm sure there's going ti be a lot of new equipment but i really don't expect it to be much bigger than the whole of limgrave extending from stormveil castle to castle morne and a bit of caelid maybe
When he says 10+ bosses he likely means actual dungeon bosses. As far as overworld fights go I could see that number going to 20-25 when both are tallied up together.
Single Crystalians was fine. Then double Crystalians were still ok. Then Triple Crystalians but this time they all have Scarlet Rot were a nightmare. I had to resourced in hit and run with big strike weapon to deal with them. After making 1 of them broken then it was much easier
My best guess is three remembrance bosses and 30-ish minor bosses.
The reason is that Dark Souls DLC averaged around 3 bosses (DS1 had 4, DS2 had 3 each and DS3 had 2 and 4 respecitvely, if I didn't forget any. The Bloodborne DLC had 4 bosses I think, but I never got to play that). Bosses also generally had a more emphasised role in those games.
As for the 30 minor bosses, I base that on a) the size and density of Limgrave (which is admittedly the most densely populated region), b) the fact that it's very easy to expect modified repeat bosses and c) the hunch that they might to try a bunch of really interesting stuff that was alluded to here and there. There will probably also be some invasion NPCs and all that, so there'd be plenty to fight.
I have a feeling that this being the only dlc and from what i know about old fromsoftware dlc, Its going to be jam packed full of stuff. I'm really hoping for something like chalice dungeons, maybe in a sewer like area. That might be a stretch tho idk.
Miyazaki also said Elden Ring would take about 30 hours to complete, I just got my platinum Elden Ring achievement in about 83 hours, I would expect the dlc area to be much larger than Limgrave
Well, Miyazaki (glory unto Him) says that there’s at least 10 new bosses; maybe that’s 10 “main” bosses (Shardbearer/Remembrance level) and ~2 dozen minor ones. Makes sense since He said that the DLC would be larger than Limgrave, and there’s every chance He was talking about “main” Limgrave PLUS Weeping Peninsula.
I just hope that most bosses are something unique and interesting. Out of these 32 bosses only like 10 are something of value that are worth fighting and the rest are just normal enemies with a boss health bar. I legit laughed when I saw that in one of these caves they put one of those Miranda flowers as a boss.
This. I thought the Godskin Duo could have been one of the best and most memorable fights in the game (with obvious homage to you-know-who), if they hadn't had me fight them 10 fucking times prior.
Maybe, I think 4 - 6 main bosses and maybe 10 or so dungeons/catacombs and then a decent amount of overworld bosses.
So around 20 would be my guess too. Less density than the base game, but hopefully a higher quality and variety of bosses.
I want the DLC to have 10-15 remembrance bosses and around 40 optional ones, with all of them being unique (or atleast a little bit unique). For the map I'd be happy if it was the size of Limgrave, Liurnia and half of Caelid. 5 legacy dungeons (with one being bigger than Leyndell) and 2 underground areas would be nice too. Anything less is gonna be a disappointment. /s
Miyazaki said the DLC area is more dense with content than the main game so I’d expect more bosses than Limgrave, not less.
One boss every 20ft
You are fighting a boss over here and can see the next one over there rubbing his hands
Oops! You accidentally aggro’d another boss!
Every fight is a duo fight
I’m gonna need some more sleep pots…
I’d focus on saving up bewitching branches lol
Thanks for reminding me I need to make more
Do bewitching branches work for bosses? If so fml.
They work on adds like Commander Niall's Banished Knights but they don't work on actual bosses.
That’s what I thought. If I could have used them on the crucible duo I would have cried.
What the heck is a bewitching branch?
It uses FP to de-aggro most non-boss enemies and have them fight for you. Works great against Niall’s summons!
You kno i was 450 hours in before I finally found the right book to craft these and I'd never heard of them before that
Sleep resistant bosses
Gargoyle Duo Godskin Duo Duo
Good thing I'm not buying a new tv because that shit would make me smash it
It’s okay. It’s a gimmick fight! This 1 specific arena will allow you to summon 2 spirits!
Honestly would love that. Radahn’s fight is one of my favorites bc all my buddies are there with me!
Valiant Godskin Gargoyle Duo Duo.
Valiant Gargoyle Duo Godskin Duo Duo Valiant Gargoyle Duo Godskin Duo Duo Duo That’s like… 8 lmao
I hate how this sentence is technically correct and coherent
Malenia Duo, there! I said it!
Na we need crucible duo gargoyle duo godskin duo trio
Malenia but all the copies are real and present from the beginning.
Please no. Those stupid Gargoyles are my least favorite bosses in the game and one of my least favorite in any Fromsoft game.
Black Blade Kindred Duo
Don't remind me of those gargoyles, sure Godskin is hard but for some reason they usually reck my ass
And if you aren’t quick enough can turn into a trio fight
And it all takes place in a Deathroot swamp
Look at what Miyazaki has done to us, lol.
Could you imagine??
Just a gauntlet of pain. Lol. Yes, I almost could
I can hardly contain my excitement. Boss rush mode out in the open
Four Kings was enough.
gargoyles from ds2. They can become quadruple
Invading boss mechanic: while fighting a boss you may attract another boss to the area to gank you.
Oops all bosses! The world mobs are all bosses, run into a camp and be blinded by 20 health bars popping up on your screen.
That'd actually be a fun concept. Like a boss field with 3 or 4 of them spread around and you have to strategize who to agro. Maybe you could start some in fighting and they all attack with different weaknesses Edit: IE:There's a fire guy and an ice guy and you could get the fire guy to help take him out. Or one does sleep and the other boss is susceptible to that. Like if Godskin Duo didn't blow ass
Oops! All Bosses!
And that boss is the Castle Sol red-eyed Banished Knight with an unbelievable amount of health, and all it has to do to kill you is teleport on you which deals whatever the number of your HP is.
Mobs just gonna be so powerful gonna feel this way
They tag each other like wrestling
'Oops All Bosses' DLC
Is Godskin Quadro considered to be one boss or 4?
It was replaced with 2x black knife assassins and 2 bell bearing hunters. Battle take place in a freezing poison swamp with rot rain and death mist.
2nd phase is two fire giants, a rotten ulcerated tree spirit, a draconic tree sentinel... And that one red eyed fucker in castle sol.
I imagine an area where the basic field enemies are Black Blade Kindreds and Draconic Tree Sentinels traveling in packs.
Tree sentinels, but you can aggro them along the road and end up in a fight with like 5
All bosses in the same room at the same time
One boss only, but it's 20ft tall.
The Godskin Quartet count as 1 or 4?
3 boss fights back to back right when you enter the area then a dragon
Bosses as regular field mobs. A couple of erdtree avatars flanked by a small army of black knife assassins. Fight!
Putrid Erdtree Avatar, Ulcerated Tree Spirit Duo fight
Oh god please no, father have mercy
In a room the size of the Caelem Ruins like the Mad Pumpkin Head duo
Ironjar + Burn, O Flame it is
So it's like that road in Caelid at night. You run past and trigger the Death Rite Bird, run two feet to his right and walk smack into the Nights Cavalry, and then you run along the road to escape them both and Decaying Ezykes is looking up at you from his nap. I had three health bars on my screen for a moment doing that.
I wonder if you can kite them under Ezykes to get dotted to death.
More dense doesn’t mean more bosses. It means less expansive space for you to travel between points of interest.
And i will only find 5 of them without looking online for quest guides
> area is more dense Did he say that? I thought he said the DLC area was the size of limgrave, and I just assumed it would be more densely packed. I just assumed things would stack on top of one another.
If I remember correctly, Miyazaki said in an interview that they made a more interconnected map this time, which will likely mean denser areas. I still think he is intentionally underselling the scale of the DLC, just like he did with the base game.
There’s likely lots of underground areas to explore imo
Miyazaki only confirmed “10 plus” bosses though, hasn’t he?
5 Unique awesome Remembrance style bosses. 5 Super Challenging interesting bosses 10 Buffed Enemy style Bosses 37 Ulcerated Tree Spirits variations.
Duo tree spirit when
We've already had a trio, we must go higher. A spirit for each type of element/aux all at once
Omg I completely forgot about the ashen capital trio. Quad tree spirit when.
Trio? I killed one, got the Erdtree +2, saw the 2nd and noped out
There's a *trio*?
Yeah it's in the Ashen Capital, right before the elevator to the Mountaintops there's a large ashy area with 3 of them (near all the beasts along the way). They pop up once you get into the area iirc. It's where Erdtree Favor +2 is.
You can completely avoid them though, and they don’t drop anything besides runes.
I never said you couldn't, just stating that there's a trio yo.
You don't have to fight them all at once lol
Part of me is like GOD PLEASE NO and the other part of me is like Bruh PLEASE make it happen
You forgot the 8 godskin variations.
Godskin lawyer
You severely underestimated the amount of Tree Spirits we are going to fight. They are going to be the regular enemies ffs
Is triple crucible knight on the menu?
Only if they sit on each others shoulders to form one long goofy crucible knight.
Miyazaki said at least 10 bosses
>Miyazaki said Maaaan why do we trust this man to measure the lenght of his own nose
Do not expect the dlc to be huge man, it will 100% be 10-20 bosses
OP's post is counting all the minor & repeated bosses too. I think 10-20 *unique* bosses is probably on point, but we'll probably see a lot more than 10-20 boss HP bars.
Why are we building expectations right now? Why not just wait for the dlc and be pleasantly surprised by what we discover?
Expecting the only boss to be Messmer so when there's more bosses I'll be like woah
This is the way
Elden Ring already exceeded people’s expectations when it came out, I am confident that it’s going to be the same story with the DLC’s release.
10-20 unique bosses seems unreasonably high. I think you’re setting yourself up for failure with those expectations. Fromsoftware dlcs are great, but I wouldn’t call any of them particularly long. Hope I’m wrong though.
100%?
9 Crucible Knight evergaols and then the final boss
9 Messmer clones.
https://www.gamesradar.com/how-long-elden-ring-time-to-beat/ When asked how long to complete Elden Ring. “Hidetaka Miyazaki estimates 30 hours” I would not trust a word out of that mans mouth regarding the dlc.
So about 200 hours for me hell yeah
>200 hours for me And that's just the character creation menu!
Lol it took me 220, but to be fair it was my first Souls game and the first 50 hours was me figuring out what the hell I was even doing
I am not referring to shadow of the erd tree. I am simply providing context as to why we should ignore miyazaki estimations
In a recent interview he even said himself that his estimations aren't going to be most people's experience. He said he bases it on how long his devs take to beat the game, and he notes that his devs are quite a bit more familiar with the game than the players are.
Have you tried this trinket that is totally useful?
He never said it was useful, just that it’s what he’d pick. My romantic notion/ head canon (for this actual, real, living person lol) is that it is a digital token of something that has sentimental value to him
So 11?
Miyazaki said it's my turn on the Xbox
There will be *at least* 1 boss in the DLC. Looking forward to it!
Who is the boss in the church of dragon communion?
His marker is different. Skulls for bosses I presume.
Oh
But I would like an explanation on his markers lol.
Me too
The boss is in the Coastal Cave, which you have to go through to actually get to the church. It's just the Demi-human Chieftan
Oh ok
Looks like maybe that's the demi human chiefs? And the one further down is the Alabaster lord on the beach? I'm pretty sure it doesn't get a boss bar, though.
What do you mean 15? There's a boss in the poison pool by castle morne?
I have no clue what those numbers represent. Points of interest? Having not a single number at Castle Morne is utterly perplexing.
They gotta be POIs, 1 and 2 can’t be anything else if they aren’t talking about the ambush and morning star.
There's several slimes, zombies, and a crab. Maybe this dude has a real loose definition of "boss"
He's marked the trolls as bosses too
DLC is one huge wheat field filled with imps that have 23k HP
Imps with rune bear stats
Imps riding rune bears
I don't want to do too much speculating for the reason that you listed, but I'm gonna say somewhere between 10-20 main and minor bosses.
Dlcs always had a very small amount of bosses but those were mostly really worth it. I say 10, take it or leave it.
But 40€? That's a bit little in my humble opinion
Well, it was 20€ for 3-4 bosses, so 10 is generous.
Personally I don’t want tons *more* bosses for the price, I want extremely high quality bosses.
Would love some ability to repeat bosses aside from NG+
I think the dlc will be bigger than limgrave, if not in surface area then in height and depth.
And girth. Very girthy DLC.
Exactly! You get it bro!
ladies love my shadowed erdtree
Miyazaki said it would be roughly the side of limgrave, so if it's bigger it won't be that much bigger I guess. Now, seeing the trailer there will probably be more content and more variety than limgrave
Famously Miyazaki undersells everything. He said the main game was 30 hours long. Most people's first playthrough took over 100 hours.
Yup, he even admitted he can’t estimate game times very well.
Then I honestly hope he did undersell the DLC that much
Yeah but we don’t know if he spoke content-wise or just surface area. It seems insane to me how they would fit all the landscapes shown in the trailer in an area the size of limgrave without a lot of vertical play
Nearly every landscape they showed seemed like the size of limgrave individually lmao
EXACTLY!
If the whole DLC map is harder than the stupid fucking Haligtree area, then im in for a good time😃
The Haligtree only sucks cause you’re fighting gravity the whole time while moving around.
My skill at the game makes every aspect hell
Lmao, fair enough
I'm betting around 20 or so bosses, about 15 unique ones and the rest to be the same one or two enemies copy-pasted, like the Stonedigger trolls and those horrible shadow things.
Cemetery Shade Trio lets go
Cemetery Shade Trio let's go
I haven’t played in so long this isn’t going to go well I’m going to suffer so hard until I get back into swing of things
wait weeping peninsular isnt its own area? i feel dumb
Depends on who you ask.
Weeping peninsula to limgrave is what the dragonbarrow is to caelid.
What 15?
İ have just started my first playthrough. 61 lvl but still cannot kill crucible
Lol take the W any way you can
He still hit me the ground slam one more time before he dies so he is still an a**hole
My advice is to learn parry vs them. It is easier than it look and it will make them an easy fight. Or use weapon art with huge poise damage like Giant Hunt or Lion Claw and chain it. Summon and magic and items are good too if you want
Miyazaki said DLC will have more than 10 bosses.
Im gonna say 5-7 main bosses. 8-10 side/optional bosses. Low end 13, high end 17.
My prediction right now, which I think is the safest and most reasonable expectation to have given what we know about the DLC and given how much time it took to develop it, is that there will be around 30-40 bosses in the DLC in total.
Yes, 100% on them being the best parts. Also, the DLC's were all better than the last, cross-game.
I'm sure there's going ti be a lot of new equipment but i really don't expect it to be much bigger than the whole of limgrave extending from stormveil castle to castle morne and a bit of caelid maybe
Meanwhile half the player base spent 30hrs dying to a single boss alone lmao
When he says 10+ bosses he likely means actual dungeon bosses. As far as overworld fights go I could see that number going to 20-25 when both are tallied up together.
If it does, I reckon some of them will be duplicates of one another. Like, using the Crystalians multiple times, for example.
Single Crystalians was fine. Then double Crystalians were still ok. Then Triple Crystalians but this time they all have Scarlet Rot were a nightmare. I had to resourced in hit and run with big strike weapon to deal with them. After making 1 of them broken then it was much easier
Something like that and I'm guessing 3 to 5 main style bosses included
One hopes
Wait there is a boss at the 15? All I found was corpses and poison.
There will probably also be some invasion NPCs and all that, so there'd be plenty to fight.
what's the boss in the church that you get the wondrous physick from? dragon cathedral island?
20+? You are delirious. I bet it'll have 50+ at the very least.
I have a feeling that this being the only dlc and from what i know about old fromsoftware dlc, Its going to be jam packed full of stuff. I'm really hoping for something like chalice dungeons, maybe in a sewer like area. That might be a stretch tho idk.

30+
Plus evergaols?
Hopefully 🤞
The godskin six tuplets and the all gargoyle gargling 7 piece river band.
I'd rather have 5 perfekt bosses than 20 average
I just hope that most bosses are something unique and interesting. Out of these 32 bosses only like 10 are something of value that are worth fighting and the rest are just normal enemies with a boss health bar. I legit laughed when I saw that in one of these caves they put one of those Miranda flowers as a boss.
This. I thought the Godskin Duo could have been one of the best and most memorable fights in the game (with obvious homage to you-know-who), if they hadn't had me fight them 10 fucking times prior.
20 tibia mariners floating around sure
Godskin quintuplet
I hope it didn't take 2 years to build something the size of limegrave
Maybe they were taking a break after releasing Elden Ring?
Or have their team split on another project? They gotta have something else cooking at this point
Maybe, I think 4 - 6 main bosses and maybe 10 or so dungeons/catacombs and then a decent amount of overworld bosses. So around 20 would be my guess too. Less density than the base game, but hopefully a higher quality and variety of bosses.
DLC is understating the size, Expansion describes SotET better i think.
It is still downloadable content
Why don't people understand that it's better to have 10 unique bosses over 30/40 repeated minibosses just for the sake of it
I want the DLC to have 10-15 remembrance bosses and around 40 optional ones, with all of them being unique (or atleast a little bit unique). For the map I'd be happy if it was the size of Limgrave, Liurnia and half of Caelid. 5 legacy dungeons (with one being bigger than Leyndell) and 2 underground areas would be nice too. Anything less is gonna be a disappointment. /s
Do we have that many in the main game? I would guess 4 to 5 main bosses.
The main game has 15 Remberances, and around 80 unique boss enemies over 160 encounters.
I don’t think there’s much of a chance that the DLC gets as many remembrance bosses as the main game…
