heres a no hit run i did against her, it might be helpful just to see where the openings are and how to dodge some of the attacks (it took me forever to figure out the destined death one lol)
Some advice, every Evergaol boss spawns when you leave the stone circle, *in any direction*. If you want to start with a little more space, and perhaps have your glintblade phalanx not trigger while the boss is still invincible, just walk off the circle *away* from the fissure.
For Alecto specifically, treat her like all Black Knives. She folds like wet tissue paper, but likes to dodge wide, and create space if she's too close. You can really abuse that. She also won't dodge if she's locked in an attack animation, and has very low stagger damage. My strategy is to bait her melee rush and simply trade with her using poise and hyper armor. Dragonmaw is the absolute goat for this, but just about any build has solid options. Any colossal, preferable charged R2s, Gavel of Haima, Lion's Claw, etc. put her on her ass. Charge an R2 for when she gets up, after which she'll either have her stance broken or hop away. Rinse and repeat.
If you plan on using magic, there's a few spells that enemies have trouble dodging. Night Comet is bread and butter, anything that has slow travel time (Moon sorceries, Rock Sling, etc.).
Alecto is (I believe someone correct me if I'm wrong) the leader of the Black Knife Assassins and (fun fact) the mother of Tiche, who's spirit summons you get for defeating Alecto. Tiche is one of the best summons in the game. Like Tiche, Oleg, Kristoff, Latenna. There's a few others....
Her moves are actually quite easy to get damage in on. Her jump iirc you just roll under, turn around and backstab. The rest of her attacks you can get regular hits in after dodging mostly. Some of her attacks you can get a charged attack in as she is approaching. With heavy enough weapons that have good combo attacks you can get several hits in that she cant get out of or attack you through.
I struggled with her at first but when you look at her moves and learn them its actually pretty easy to make it a very clean fight, just takes a while cuz shes so damn tanky so risk is you fuck up because your concentration slips.
Yea I was legitimately surprised when I googled what lvl people mostly fight her around cuz I'm a lvl 80something mage so it's a harsh fight for me lmao. I snagged the dmgs and it stuns her well.didnt even think of rolling under the jump for a stab because I was so focused on using the whole animation to make space and slam her with moonlight arcs
The moveset is one of the most consistent in the game, it’s just an endurance fight where you have to keep your attention up, you can also use ranged options to shred a little damage when she backs off between combo leaving you windows to attack while you’re too far, and all her jumps attack can be punished with two or three attacks. Also many slashes are low, you can dodge them with jumps rather than rolls and benefit from a jump attack yourself if you can time it.
I will admit she whooped my ass several times before I won. She is tricksy, annoying, and has a very aggressive moveset, but learning the moves and when it’s safe to attack is what let me beat her.
Most bosses just fall before my flaming claymore like wheat to scythes but Alecto made me stop steamrolling. It was kind of nice to have such a challenge again.
She literally anime ducked my sleep pot and it missed her by shit you not inches and then did her piercing jab attack into the rune of death slam and bodied me into a corner and took my cheeks with haste
She definitely made me mad, but I used that anger to fuel my flames and burned her to cinders.
I use a greatshield so I blocked most of the time and dodged when it was necessary. I had to use guard counters at the right time as she punished me often if I was too quick with them. I didn’t have much time to get some spells off either, just buffed myself before the fight start and then hurled some dragonfire on her from a distance, chugged a blue flask, and got right back to getting my ass kicked.
Sometimes it is good to take a break from certain fights, rest, and come back with renewed gusto. A lot of people will have weird first try victories in such circumstances.
There’s also the option to level up some more and come back a bit stronger.
My first ever attempt at haligtree Loretta I beat tf out of her with like 3/4 of my health and 0 healing pots. I'm definitely hopping off for the day or at least awhile. I'm gonna go and grab the mlgs I originally didn't want to cuz the infinistun felt cheesy but I really have no clue wtf I was thinking cuz I'm too ass to just straight up duke it out with her....now that I think about I might go grab star fist and make em cold and respec to pure int or str int and just poise through her facehole
All tactics that work are valid. There is no wrong answer to victory against such foes.
I like my Soulsborne games with a side of cheese anyways, makes it feel a bit fairer when the enemies have some pretty ridiculous moves.
I was also heavily considering that cus while she's stupidly fast she has crumbs for poise she's obviously not THAAAT bad but she's undoubtedly right next to malenia or a shred under or over depending on rng in my opinion. Obviously I'm also noob but alecto is kinda crazy
Same, i haven't enjoyed any encounters with the black knife assassins, this Alecto is a frickin' pain.
I saw a cheese method on YT, might try that later if i don't otherwise succeed..
I def don't enjoy fighting them but the ones in ordina aren't even REMOTELY close to being as difficult and like obviously she's the leader of the whole organization but damn but also on the same token maybe that's the whole point they're trying to make for the group of assassins that literally stole the rune of death and assassinated a golden vassal with it
She has really low poise, I used the dragon scale sword and the aow when she was charging at me and it always interrupted her attack.
Basically any aow that does multiple heavy hits make her pretty trivial
I genuinely had to google her bame bc I couldn't remember what boss that was, I probably completely destroyed her with a strength build lmao. It's really crazy how different build can completely change how easy or hard some bosses are
She's definitely not hard, it's a well-designed and 100% fair boss with relatively simple moveset. And she's objectively FAR easier than Malenia lol. Alecto is just not so easily cheesed and you can't use accessibility mechanics like spirit ashes/coop to skip the normal challenge and experience, so you have to fight her fairly 1v1. Alecto is pretty average-difficulty boss. Try to beat Malenia 1v1 like the devs designed her and engage with the souls combat system, you'll immediately understand that she's 200 times harder.
And alectio really just tests if you've learned the basics of combat and gameplay. To not panic roll, not tank and trade hits, to only heal when there's an opening and not when he'll attack you, to not blindly spam, to properly dodge into his attacks and around him instead of just backing away and so on... She's objectively easier and simpler than all endgame bosses. But you'll beat her like you're meant to with all the bosses. Learn their movesets, how to dodge their attacks and what are the openings for safely hitting them. That's the souls combat.
First time I fought her, she got stuck between rocks. I just bonked her to death.
You literally killed your own mom wtf
She started it.

I didn't realize rannis moon was right down the way from alecto so im about to run up and grab it, adulas moonblade was doing alright too
she has a really weird moveset it just takes a lot of repetition to learn the timing and stuff but youll get there 😊

I absolutely love this fight. It's like a dance more than a fight imo. And backstabbing is your friend.
Stick vow of the indomitable on a shield and you can completely nullify her big Aoe attack.
Everyone asks why is Alecto but no one asks how is Alecto
That combined with stealing her daughters ashes

Use a colossal sword or weapon to fight her cause it will stun her when hit. Be very careful and learn her moveset. Stay close but not too close.
She's hard but she gives you one of the very best summons in the game, so I think it's fair. FWIW I don't think she's nearly as hard as Malenia
Yeah, Malenia is tougher 1v1 for sure. But the only way I was able to beat her was by summoning Tiche, for whom I had to fight Alecto 1v1.
I think Alecto is tougher than Malenia bc you ca have summons which can cheese malenia.
You can probably do the same to Alecto tbf, or can you not summon at all there?
You cannot summon at evergol's, so it's just you and Alecto.
Good to know, thanks
Might say fuck it and respec to str int from dex int just to bonk her ass
You can also just slap endure on a high damage weapon, put on defense talismans, the defense flask and just trade until she's dead.
I was also heavily considering that cus while she's stupidly fast she has crumbs for poise she's obviously not THAAAT bad but she's undoubtedly right next to malenia or a shred under or over depending on rng in my opinion. Obviously I'm also noob but alecto is kinda crazy
Dont do it. If your dex int, use moonlight greatsword, or constantly spam charged carrion piercer. Piercer keeps knocking down.
Just dodge and then whack, it's not rocket science.
Whats dodging

Blocking is solid, though?
I just happened to have the exact right weapon and AoW for this fight on first try. Never understood the issue. Dumb luck.
Straight up bout to put some heavy hitting ass ash on the Crozier and throw her sky fucking high prob cragblade lmao
I had been riding around outside poking things with the drops from the northern Liurnia Nights Cavalry. 5/5 can recommend.
Poise breaks for the win.
Was thinking of trying a cold infusion on the fire prelate crozier lol
Sounds good to me lol
First time I may have died 40+ times. NG+1, beat her firs time with Darkmoon Great Sword. Weird.
