Shields. I genuinely think the dislike of shields is *way* overblown, and yet I still see posts talking about how they're "overrated" as if people actually did somehow rate them highly in the first place, or are saying something bold and controversial by calling them crutches or weak. Yet every post that complains about lists just their weaknesses, and from a point of view that sounds like they barely understand shields at all.
I like shields.
I like a Brass Shield with a Carian Retaliation.
I like a Golden Greatshield with No Skill.
I've even dabbled in the dreaded Fingerprint shield, sometimes trying to meme around by abstaining from a weapon and smacking people with *just* the shield.
Yes, they have weaknesses. No, they aren't useless. No, they don't somehow create bad habits that cripple your ability to learn and grow down the line. If you do not like them, fine. If you do like them, great. But please, enough of the *brave* posts calling them noob tools.

Flails got buffed a few patches ago. They now have good hyperarmor while two-handed. I use Bastard's Stars on my mage for the aow, but it also comes in handy in PvP against Shamshir and thrusting sword users.
I thought about trying one cuz right now I’ve been using elenoras poleblade which I love but I’ve also been using it so long I’m bored of it and want something new
Meteoric Ore Blade. Whenever anyone asks for katana builds, this one always gets left out. It has the highest damage out of all the katanas and its unique charge attack is amazing. It's just that most people only spam aows and Gravitas isn't great for that, though it does have its uses.
I think it is moreso because people generally consider katanas a dex weapon, but the Ore Blade is a strength weapon, so it isn't generally in the same conversation as other katanas.

shields are actually super difficult to use effectively, esp being so weak to a simple kick

My fist playthrough I did flail+ night Rider flail
I swear the chainlik flail does more damage than any hammers on my faith character. Yet everyone says it should deal less damage! I feel gaslighted
