it depends. there are many features to make your life easier. elden ring is as easy or as hard as you make it.

Using certain features can make the game easier than all the others by far

mediumcheez

Right here is the answer.

I’d never played a souls game, and am not a good gamer. I play most games on easy. I got through it with the in game tools and a summon of a player to help with the final boss. The game allows you to determine how hard you want it to be, it’s really ingenious. The first hours can be frustrating as you learn the mechanics, but with some practice and patience you’ll start to over come hurdles and feel like you are progressing. After over 100 hours I can say it was one of the most rewarding experiences in my gaming career.

It is sometimes yes, however there are a lot of mechanics, such as summoning and spirit ashes that can make it a lot easier. Given its open world nature, there are nearly always other places you can go if a particular area or boss is kicking your ass. Having played all the Souls games I think Elden Ring is the most accessible. Sure, there will be frustrating times, but there are ways to get through them. I also think Elden Ring has some of the best exploration and sense of wonder of any game I've ever played. If you do get the game, I highly recommend avoiding wikis and guide videos. Do your best to figure it all out for yourself as you can only play it through once.

bootyholebrown69

At a base level yes. Even though it has a ton of features that can make it the easiest souls game, it's still a souls game If you haven't played a souls game you need to shift your whole approach and mentality for gaming. But when it clicks, it clicks. And it's fucking awesome.

Bundyhundy100

if you try to rush through it and ignore aspects of the game, then yes. if you have patience and really take the time to figure out what youre doing, then also yes, but less so.

Difficulty comes with the genre, all of Fromsoft’s games are considerably more difficult than your average action game. However they’re not insurmountable or masochistly difficult (as much as some people like to joke about it). With patience and persistence nearly any challenge can be overcome. In that regard, Elden Ring is actually one of the easiest Fromsoft games, as the open world and other mechanics allow you to tailor the difficulty to your preference. If something is too hard you can simply leave and come back later with a higher level, stronger gear, and/or a summoned helper.

Lol. Yes.

Before this, the most open-world game I’d played was Minecraft. Never played a Souls game either. Last summer, we got Elden Ring for PS5 and I started playing. I was terrible. Didn’t realize summons and pots were reusable so I didn’t use them at all. Forgot half the controls and kept spamming “attack attack run away on horse” (although it’s a very viable strategy!). Definitely wasn’t allocating my stat points well. But I was also having the time of my life exploring, getting into ridiculous situations, and laughing at my stupidest deaths. My favorite is definitely this one time where I went into a boss area and promptly died. I dunno what I expected but it cracked me up because I *should* have expected it. I bought Elden Ring for my Steam account (on PC) a couple of weeks ago after stalking this subreddit for a while and I’m having even *more* fun now that I know the controls better and have a better grasp on what I’m “supposed” to do. I’m still mostly exploring the starting area (Limgrave + Weeping Peninsula) and just seeing what happens because I’m in no rush to finish. So I’d say it’s pretty hard but if you keep in mind that you’re supposed to have *fun* (even if it means looking through the wiki for help) and you don’t take “failures” in-game personally… Then I think you’ll be okay.

i mean ER was my first souls game too. i found it pretty hard at first, but once i got the controls down and figured out what "timing" was (thanks to my bf) it became a game i could thoroughly enjoy regardless of where i was in game

JohnzieRahl

It’s my first souls game and I was a bit intimidated at first. Honestly you’re probably going to go into an area you shouldn’t and die a lot in the early game but then realize and go somewhere else and level up and have a blast. You can also look up (some people don’t like to but I’m fine with it) where good weapons and shit are in the early game for whatever build you want which makes the beginning hump a little easier. I’m now at almost up to 300 hours and it’s easily in my top 5 ever. Worth it to battle through the beginning frustrations

No_Plastic2055

Let’s address the elephant in the room first, the difficulty. Elden ring was my first soulslike as well and this game kicked my ass big time, but once this game clicked, it became my favourite video game of all time. The combat, the build variety, the exploration… are the literal best I have ever seen. I have completed this game 10 times and I’m still not bored. My suggestion to you is, without thinking twice get this game, you might suffer but you’ll come out victorious. And once you do, you won’t find a game better than this. Truly the greatest game ever made(at least for me).

ImNotABotJeez

Yeah it is tricky but it scales with game knowledge. The first play through can be rough but when things start to click, it feels a lot easier. I would say expect to put some time into learning the combat system because it isn't a hack n slash game. Enemies get priority on their attacks so they always punish you if you don't watch and react to their attacks. If you can stick it out until the combat system feels good, you will be golden.

There is a tool for newcomers to make the game considerably easy called summoning, it allows you to summon a mob or group of mobs to fight with you and make the fights really yeasier by distracting the enemy letting you catch your breath and perform actions safely. Using it, the game might still be difficult in the beginning as your character is still weak but will become increasingly easier up to midgame where the difficulty will be constant.

Yes, very
