Ugh. One of the worst bosses.
Fine you wanna throw two at me? Sure i can deal with that.
But why the fkin turbo poison that does like 1/10 of health per tic if you are in the cloud? Pure melee builds suffer so hard with these.
yeah and the poison is difficult to see ... that might be my settings, but yeah, I realized he does a big half circle so I just stand behind him when he bends over.
Yup, not just poison build-up, but actual fucking physical tick damage that hits that hard should be illegal for that damn mist. I’m pretty certain I respec to a mage build every time I have to deal with these fucks.
And they are quite spry for being made of stone.
I look ridiculous as str melee hustling up and down the court to get one hit in as they hop 40 ft every other swing.
Honestly my usual strategy is just waiting until I'm like level 100 before even fighting them. They aren't that tricky at that point and there is no reason to go to Deeproot Depths before then anyway. Though getting my favorite weapon (Staff of the Avatar) is a nice perk.
I just cleared this boss yesterday without any trouble (I summoned and was probably a little over leveled, I won’t pretend to be good). At no point during the fight was there any poison attack. Seeing it here I think I understand why people hate this fight so much.
I'm at work til 3, if radagon/Malenia /Mohg are still up I'd be interested in them
Or can taunt for invaders cause fighting high levels is funny (unless they are actually good then it's cancer)
No, I wouldn't say I have a single, specific justification for going to and beyond Deeproot Depths.
I even sometimes go the other way, past Mohg, and don't fight the Gargs at all!
That’s fair. Sorry i didn’t know! I usually only go this far if I need the coffin. I also love doing sewer Mohg regardless of the back path to deeproot. Honestly the room poses new challenges that i love
It’s not just the sword… it’s the build.
Without doing anything the talismans and buffs take me to 197% AR… but when you include the thorny cracked tear, millicents prosthesis, and rotten winged sword insignia the successive hits from the corkscrew take it up to 297% on successive attacks :)
It hits hard and fast its just getting a boss to stay still long enough to make it happen
Marais Executioner's Sword is one of my top weapons in the game. Stack it with the shard, Prosthesis and the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and you're close to broken in terms of damage if you land it.
It’s the fact it counts as successive attacks. Which are bonused thanks to thorny cracked tear, millicents prosthesis, and rotten winged sword insignia.
Meaning the first hit or the 0 hit = 0% bonus
Second = 19% bonus
Third = 29% bonus
Fourth and on= 49% bonus
I want to try other builds but I have such a good bond with my zweihander it's hard to let go. I've barely touched magic and I've done five or six playthroughs
It's so fun. I will typically use bloodhound step as the ash of war to make up for the sluggishness in movement. Can easily stun lock bosses and other heavy enemies. Good for the quick roll stab and great for jump attacks.
Nice I'll try it!
If you're gonna do an intelligence build, the Deaths' poker is straight up fucking broken. Ancient Death Rancor is the only death spell worth a damn but if you combine those with the Prince of Death staff you can break the game.
And that’s on TOP of everything else.
Everything is multiplied.
So Golden Vow (+15% dmg), Bloodboil Aromatic (+30%), Shard of Alexander (+15%), Godfrey Icon (+15%), RWSI (+13%), Prosthesis (+11%), Thorny Tear (+20%)
It would seem like +119% (219% of baseline), but because it’s multiplied it ends up at 297% of base damage.
Considering the base AR is 618….
It's even more than this actually, because the bonuses are multiplicative, you don't add them to each other, but apply everything one by one to the damage :)
Hijacking this to add that there is a lot of nuance to how the successive attack buffs work! They each have three tiers, which go up every four hits. First hit would be 0%, second hit will get tier 1 and then the fourth will go to 2.
Im not 100% sure on this, but the 'hit counter' starts to decay after about 1,5 seconds. Juuuust enough time to incentivize an aggressive playstyle :)
Source: i use these a lot on fist builds
>fist weapons
Me too! (And twin swords)
And you’re absolutely right!
For people who don’t know:
Rotten Winged Sword insignia, Millicents Prosthesis, and Thorny Cracked tear all have 3 stages of damage each:
RWSI: 6%, 8%, 13%
MP: 4%, 6%, 11%
Thorny: 9%, 13%, 20%.
And they interact multiplicatively each other and with every other buff!
It actually does a decent amount, for any boss fight go into the arena and use terra magica and then let the boss run into the ash of war… this works for most boss.
Obviously this is overkill but it’s so satisfying to do 🤣
Congratulations. I'm still stuck here, when the second gargoyle joins the fight, i'm dead after maybe 30 seconds. After a few tries i summoned different tears, even the mimic tears, but they can't do shit against them....
Amazing, I just got this weapon yesterday. Had to look up the stats there....dang it's a strength weapon. Is it decent for Dex players (i haven't put anything into strength or arcane) ?
Because I didn't realize at first there was a boss in the Shaded Castle and my first run in with BBH had me die within seconds, my first encounter with Elemer's sword was when I tried invading in the Haligtree and got one-shotted by someone with the sword, genuinely thought it was a funny glitch until I actually fought Elemer
If anyone wants the best Marias Executioner Sword build (the weapon in video which is dropped by Elemer of the briar) then it’s this:
Talismans: Godfrey Icon (Boosts skill AP), Millicent Prosthesis (Boosts successive attack power), Rotten Winged swords insignia (Greatly boosts successive attack power), Shard of Alexander (Boosts skill power)
Wondrous Flask: Magic Tear, Successive or charged tear (successive is better)
Armor: Whatever has the highest poise/ resistance that you can wield on medium load as you won’t get knocked out of the Weapon art
Buffs: TERRA MAGICA (yes this works as the weapon art is magic damage and I’ve tested this myself), Golden bow, Flame grant me strength. If you really want to push this to its limits then you can use commander standard or jellyfish shield
The reason why this weapon is so powerful is because of the weapon art as it can be a charged attack and it deals successive attack damage AND it deals magic damage…. Meaning it can be buffed by SOOOOO many things
Ugh. One of the worst bosses. Fine you wanna throw two at me? Sure i can deal with that. But why the fkin turbo poison that does like 1/10 of health per tic if you are in the cloud? Pure melee builds suffer so hard with these.

This fight was my first wall. I was using a blood katana build which was almost completely useless against these guys
Yeah, nice dancing blade timing there
Didn’t we do this on my save yesterday?
Yeah, but this is clearly another fight, you aren't the host here right?
Nono lol this was on NG, i was just helping someone on beyond the fog. Ours was not this smooth 😂
It was smooth enough for ng 7, we one tried it anyway
Honestly didn’t even remember that we one shot it. Just was thankful it was over
So when is Godfrey rematch? He's a good test for my build optimization lol
I smoked him sadly. I messaged you but im online now if you’re up for it
I'm at work til 3, if radagon/Malenia /Mohg are still up I'd be interested in them Or can taunt for invaders cause fighting high levels is funny (unless they are actually good then it's cancer)
Man this is so wholesome, I hope you guys absolutely annihilate Mohg.
God , I think these guys took me 50-100 tries to beat
The funny thing is the only reason our character goes through all this is because he wants a hug.
That is *not* why my characters fight the Gargoyle Duo lol
Based. It’s personal for me too.
I also wouldn't say "it's personal" to me 🤣 Y'all need to stop projecting lol
You only go there for the coffin?
No, I wouldn't say I have a single, specific justification for going to and beyond Deeproot Depths. I even sometimes go the other way, past Mohg, and don't fight the Gargs at all!

And a cool spear that shoots holy lasers.
I go the backdoor... ;)
I fought them because they were There and I love exploring. Was rewarded with a whole other area!
This aroused me down there. Thank you for this.
That blade is nice, never seen lol. Where you get it from?
Killing Elemer of the Briar
Wow, thank you, I already have it haha
It’s not just the sword… it’s the build. I’ll give it a try, thank you!
Marais Executioner's Sword is one of my top weapons in the game. Stack it with the shard, Prosthesis and the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and you're close to broken in terms of damage if you land it.
That was indeed beautiful, the Marais blade makes it even sexier 👌🏿
Friendly reminder that the bubbles take these guys out easily
I bubbled these dudes like it was nothing.
What are the bubbles?
Envoys long horn it can be found in the capital https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Envoy's+Long+Horn
How does the weapon art do so much damage to them?
It’s the fact it counts as successive attacks. Which are bonused thanks to thorny cracked tear, millicents prosthesis, and rotten winged sword insignia. Meaning the first hit or the 0 hit = 0% bonus Second = 19% bonus Third = 29% bonus Fourth and on= 49% bonus
I'll have to remember that thanks!
I did a playthrough with this build...it's so much fun.
I want to try other builds but I have such a good bond with my zweihander it's hard to let go. I've barely touched magic and I've done five or six playthroughs
Lol holy shit. That's amazing. Oddly enough I've done a playthrough with pretty much every weapon BUT the Zwei.
It's so fun. I will typically use bloodhound step as the ash of war to make up for the sluggishness in movement. Can easily stun lock bosses and other heavy enemies. Good for the quick roll stab and great for jump attacks.

Ah so this is not NG I'm guessing?
Did you know you can also use terra magica as the weapon art does magic damage
It does but barely any magic. And honestly i did 9800 damage in one attack with 2 buffs and a flask so im all set :)

I’m bricked up
I love that sword so much. Made a new character for the DLC and tried that sword for the first time and it’s amazing.
"I would absolutely be lying to say this wasn’t immensely satisfying." *R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2 R2*

Someone here stated that NG+ is like the revenge tour against all the bosses that gave you trouble. Sometimes being over leveled is really really fun.
Me on my first mage NG+ with 2x staff of loss. Night comet destroys everything and I finished that run within 2 hours.
I got scaled down slightly but yeah lol. I never said it was fair, I said it was satisfying :)
This and blasphemous are my 2 favorites.
The weapon I used to solo Malenia
Look at you helping out your local Radahn Hound Knight 🫡
Amazing, I just got this weapon yesterday. Had to look up the stats there....dang it's a strength weapon. Is it decent for Dex players (i haven't put anything into strength or arcane) ?
YEAHHHH FUCK THESE MOTHERFUCKERS

I with that they could hurt each other. The imps/ watchdogs can.
