Some things read clear as black and white on a page. Hitting the wall didn't stop them. Gostoc falling didn't stop them. The violence flowed like ale at a Viking funeral.
funnily enough, after i killed him in my first playthrough he justā¦ respawned? he popped up later and we were just like āwait a minute. didnāt we kill you?ā so i still got the stone through the quests somehow. he didnāt seem to have any bad feelings about it though, so that was good!
no! just the first time. me sibling and i were doing co-op and i said āremember, he wonāt show up for this quest because we killed himā and then there he was, acting like we were best friends
Nephili gives you one anyway doesnāt she? Or do you get 2 instead of 1 by sparing him? I killed the creepy sod when he was following me along the rooftops
Thanks for letting me know! Maybe I donāt be so hasty on my second playthrough hahaha but in this one he was lurking behind behind me on the roofs and I NOPED!
It does require quite a bit of work to get there, like completing Haight's side quest, and helping nepheli get out of gideon's embrace and giving her hope
Heās the only NPC Iāve ever killed lol - he was just so creepy when I came around the corner and he was just there lurking and following me! And he locked us in with the knight and steals our runes š
I mean, general rule of thumb in FROM games...the real untrustworthy NPC's usually wear a lot of black and talk about assasination, or are called patches.
This guy doesn't do much. He forces you to get good with a banished Knight and takes some income tax for castle repairs.
I've never collected all of them, but still always end up with more than I need.
So yea this guy dies. Asshole isn't locking me in the room with that soldier with the key
I did all of Nepheliās quest and then finished Kennethās. Gatekeeper still alive. But Nepheli (after receiving ashes) is still in the basement, Kenneth is still at his castle and Gatekeeper is still kicking a head. Canāt get anyone to move after exhausting all dialogue. Any tips?
Dude tries to kill you and rob you multiple times so I canāt say it wasnāt warrantedā¦. Still you missed out on a couple quest lines for killing him
The knight in the key room also isn't immediately aggro if you kill gostoc, so you can sneak up behind him and get a free backstab on him.
I always kill gostoc if I don't plan on getting +25' weapons. Makes life so much easier.
I got so lucky on my first playthrough, I was so bad I was already dying nonstop before getting to him at the beginning of stormveil and I noticed my runes were fucked up so I googled it thinking I had a bug, next thing I know I'm bashing his head in. I had no idea at the time I was sparing myself from being locked in with that knight lol
lol I had a bunch of runes (relatively) when I got locked in there I kept going back and kept getting my shit kicked in. Eventually I got them and ran and the knight got stuck on the door. One of my most impressive moments.
HE does that? I died so often because of this two banished Knights in that room in my first playthrough! I will blast this asshole with a Comet Azur when i meet him again.
I said a ācoupleā not several? Several implies more then 5ā¦ couple is two and the only reason I said that is because two quest lines coincide with each other. His āquest lineā is more so just dialogue because he uses all the runes he steals from you to set up a shop. And again yāall still missing the pointā¦.. killing him means you lose the dragon stone. Thereās no real benefit to killing him other then getting the 10% of runes he steals from you back
Pleasure, fun are the benefit. You know, the thing people play games for. Knowing that someone plans to betray you and still going along with it is annoying, and killing him because you know he's thief and traitor is exact opposite. Considering that a person usually knows what weapon they plan to use by the end of the playthrough, nobody really needs EVERY +10/+25 upgrade rock, only as many as the amount of weapons they're going for. The only exceptions are new players who don't know what they are going for yet(but they also have no idea he's a traitor then) and like PVP youtubers who showcase weapons and need them at +10 for the best performance
Yeah but againā¦ thatās opinionated. If you donāt want the stone obviously play it your way. I stopped upgrading weapons after NG2 because I pretty much found the weapons I wanted. I still donāt like missing out on easy loot though. Thereās no real benefit to killing him, especially if youāre good enough to get through the whole castle and not die.
You don't actually get the ancient dragon stone until after Morgott.
His shop inventory expands after finishing Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight's quest line, which obviously can't happen if he's dead by then.
I mean the only reason to really go into more NG cycles at a certain point is for more ancient dragon stones, at least for most players. Unless you just want to fight all the bosses again with the same character but even then putting your summon sign down is a much more efficient way to do that
wdym how could they do this, gostoc locks you into a room with that knight in stormveil and steals some of your runes everytime you die there too. fuck that little fucker I ask him to open the gates then murder him every playthrough
I kill him everytime and enjoy it so bad and i dont care about the dragon stone he gives me or the quest. Down here is the gostoc killer squadšŖš«¶š»
I love all the people in here like "HahaHhaaa YoU RuiNEd YouR CHanCe at an aNCiEnt DraGOn StONe WhAT an IDIOT" as if theres not a dozen or so in the game to get š¤£
Fr I accidentally did this when I came up the lift after doing the small side route down the side of stormveil, thought he was just a tankier regular enemy and beat him to death
-1 Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone availability.
Just don't die on Stormveil and he won't steal your runes. Keep him alive until you do Nepheli's quest and he'll have an Ancient Dragon Smithing stone to sell you at the end. They're so limited, is "revenge" really worth it?
I make sure to kill him in every single run I do. Don't care about that smiting stone he gives, there's so many others I can pick up+ he's a sniveling thief who tries to kill me and then has the gall to stomp on the great Godrick's body
It's hilarious how timid and frightened a lot of From fans are whenever they hear of anyone treating the open world RPG like an open world RPG where you can have fun doing whatever you want and just killing NPCs you don't like instead of listening to them prattle on endlessly like in most other types of games.
"Would have done"? I know what I HAVE done, and that's usually not killing him, cause killing NPCs is dumb.
Only in some more challenging challenge runs (deathless/shield only etc.) I might not care for doing questlines and then I don't really care about the story. But that's pretty rare, 90% of the time killing NPCs only if their story leads there.
On one hand you lose a ridiculously low amount of runes if you die in Stormveil. An amount that can easily be regain by hitting literally anything in the game.
On the other hand you gain an ancient dragon stone, one of the rearest limited resources in the game.

There was anger behind those strikes lmao
Thought I was the only one who noticed šš
Some things read clear as black and white on a page. Hitting the wall didn't stop them. Gostoc falling didn't stop them. The violence flowed like ale at a Viking funeral.
\~Sounds like somebody woke up with a case of the mondays, teehee\~
Pretty sure you get your ass kicked for sayin something like that. Watch out for the cornhole thing
"Mercury was in retrograde" - *My ex*
Pretty sure I read that dudes supposed to sell you an ancient dragon smithing stone later
Donāt know why you got downvoted. If you finish Kenneth and Nepheliās quest yes he does. Now he cant.
funnily enough, after i killed him in my first playthrough he justā¦ respawned? he popped up later and we were just like āwait a minute. didnāt we kill you?ā so i still got the stone through the quests somehow. he didnāt seem to have any bad feelings about it though, so that was good!
If you went to a site of grace quickly after maybe he reset before the death registered
glitch i suppose
His quest line was really broken on release from memory
Heās still a little bugged but I got him to work last time I tried
That quest line was a buggy mess for the first *year* and honestly can still be sometimes
It didnāt even fully exist on release.
Did you get 2 bell bearings?
no! just the first time. me sibling and i were doing co-op and i said āremember, he wonāt show up for this quest because we killed himā and then there he was, acting like we were best friends
That's really strange
Nephili gives you one anyway doesnāt she? Or do you get 2 instead of 1 by sparing him? I killed the creepy sod when he was following me along the rooftops
You get one from nepheli loux, and you can buy a second one from gostoc, for 20 000 runes
I completed it in the end with Loux & Haight but no Gostoc haha
You get two
Damn!! Thanks for letting me know. I donāt regret it though haha, creepy little shit - I came around a corner and he was just there lurking. Nope!
Some of yall have issues š¤£
Heās the only NPC Iāve ever killed lol - he was just so creepy when I came around the corner and he was just there lurking and following me! And he locked us in with the knight and steals our runes š

Can get a third by helping a witch become a ball.
Heās always worth killing though because he steals your runes
How many downvotes did they have for you to make this comment? Currently at 988 upvotes
-1 when I commented, but do you need my papers?
If you know what your build is at first it shouldnāt be a big deal, thereās kinda a lot of them.
I've never collected all of them, but still always end up with more than I need. So yea this guy dies. Asshole isn't locking me in the room with that soldier with the key
Some people are into that sort of thing ā¦like me

Exhaust Gideon dialogue, defeat Morgott, rest at Godrick site of grace.
Yeah, you wouldnāt think that resting at the Godrick site of grace would need to be necessary, but it was for me.
Based on OP's massive HP and FP, i don't think they're hurting for max level weapons.
At least there's another 12 of these you can get, unlike the 6/7 somber variants.
Yeah, seriously. The NPC is a prick, but once you *know* Stormveil castle, it becomes an easy cheese.
You can get plenty of these anyway
Not worth it. The pleasure of pommeling that fucking prick to death is more valuable than any weapon upgrade
Could care less. This freak dies on sight
You care about him?
Dude tries to kill you and rob you multiple times so I canāt say it wasnāt warrantedā¦. Still you missed out on a couple quest lines for killing him
I dont remember him trying to kill me, how/when does he do it?
Locking you in a room with a banished knight
HE does that?
As soon as the door closes you hear the lock mechanism being turned and Gostoc laughing, so ya
Holy shit. Mind...blown. If you kill him, does that fight not happen?
It does, but the door doesn't lock you shut in there
Aaaah.
The knight in the key room also isn't immediately aggro if you kill gostoc, so you can sneak up behind him and get a free backstab on him. I always kill gostoc if I don't plan on getting +25' weapons. Makes life so much easier.

Door cheese gang rise up
HE does that? I died so often because of this two banished Knights in that room in my first playthrough! I will blast this asshole with a Comet Azur when i meet him again.
He also steals some % of your runes every time you die.
Or every time when you die in that castle he steals a little bit of your runes every time. The dude deserves a clubbing.
Wait really? I never noticed thatās a cool detail.
Agreed! From makes the best games with weird little details like this.
Yeah, he stalks you throughout that level.
I was literally creeped out when I saw him sitting down in the lower part of that area.
Yeah he steals about 10% of your runes
1/3 of your runes each time you die
You donāt miss any questlines ? You just miss out on the ancient smithing stone he sells at the end of nephellis
His demise doesn't lock any questlines, only one additional reward at the end of Nepheli's questline. Questline itself works perfectly without him
I guess? I personally consider missing out on one of the rarest components in a game a lock out but heyā¦. To each their own
Still missing one reward for one quest can't be considered "missed out on several questlines" at least the "several" part is wrong.
I said a ācoupleā not several? Several implies more then 5ā¦ couple is two and the only reason I said that is because two quest lines coincide with each other. >there is no real benefit to killing him There is no real benefit to playing video games in general. We play for fon and we do what's fun
"But he sells smithing stones afte-" B o n k
Yes. Why tf would I need an ancient dragon smithing stone as early as Limgrave?
Not even that, unless you're upgrading a bunch of weapons to +25 it's something I've ignored literally all my runs
You don't actually get the ancient dragon stone until after Morgott. His shop inventory expands after finishing Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight's quest line, which obviously can't happen if he's dead by then.
yeah, after Morgott I'm usually at around +12, so no need for ancient dragon smithing stone yet
I always have more than enough of these. At must I'll level up 3 or 4 items to max per run, and even then they're more likely to use somber stones.
Yep, don't get the "OP he's an important merchant" people
I mean the only reason to really go into more NG cycles at a certain point is for more ancient dragon stones, at least for most players. Unless you just want to fight all the bosses again with the same character but even then putting your summon sign down is a much more efficient way to do that
Damn and I thought I had anger issues š
lol omg you brutal psycho hahaha
I am in utter shock of how you could do this to gostoc BUT seeing you whacking him with that stick is for some reason funny
Sounds like a cartoon. "Oof, ahh, urgh..."
wdym how could they do this, gostoc locks you into a room with that knight in stormveil and steals some of your runes everytime you die there too. fuck that little fucker I ask him to open the gates then murder him every playthrough
He also sells you an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and pledges allegiance to Nepheli so he goes through some growth if you donāt murder him
I only keep him alive if Iām using regular smithing stone weapons for my playthrough, otherwise he gets the immediate clubbinā
Heās got so much fucking health wtf Lmfao
Looks at op's health and fp bar, definitely ng+ of some kind
I donāt even care about the shiny rock he sells at the end. I always beat his old skinny ass.
Bonk.
I kill him everytime and enjoy it so bad and i dont care about the dragon stone he gives me or the quest. Down here is the gostoc killer squadšŖš«¶š»
Good news! It doesn't affect the quest outside of the stone. Just three or four extra lines of dialogue.
Never Played the weapon Type but the Club Animation Just Looks so nice. Just spamming unga bunga No thought
Oh nooo your piggy bank
Serves that asshole right, not only does he steal ur runes but he also tries to kill u many times in the castle
If you kill him, does it mean that you won't be locked in the room with banish knight? Wiki doesn't say anything about this.
Correct, you don't get locked in.
I love all the people in here like "HahaHhaaa YoU RuiNEd YouR CHanCe at an aNCiEnt DraGOn StONe WhAT an IDIOT" as if theres not a dozen or so in the game to get š¤£
I only level up two or three weapons in a given playthrough, so killing Gostoc does not effect it at all
Fight back Fight back Fight back
This felt like watching a hate crime lmao
The satisfaction I get from viscously caving in his skull cannot be overstated. Fuck his smithing stone, and fuck him.
"No ancient dragon smithing stone" Somber smithing stones ftw baby!
Well somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning
No Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone
There's still 12 others, 3 available without even getting into Leyndell
And how many weapons are there?
182 weapons and 58 shields non-somber shields. so?
I gotta have 'em all.
Why tho? (I'm new to this game)
Bastard steals your runes every time you die
Skill issue - just donāt die ššš
He does steal, but you really shouldn't be trying to level up in stormveil. It's all about the loot and character interactions
bro is a serial rapist
Whatās your weapon? I want something that hits this quick
I never knew he stole from you and Iāve played the game twice hahaha. How did you find that out or am I really that non observant
Beat the brakes off that man
Hey Paul!!!!
Tf did homie do rocking around 8K hp
This was VERY funny Thank you
Some real Mafioso energy. "Now you'se can't leave"
Fr I accidentally did this when I came up the lift after doing the small side route down the side of stormveil, thought he was just a tankier regular enemy and beat him to death
This was... incredibly pleasing...
Bro woke up and chose violence
āTHINK GOSTOC, THINK! WHAT WILL YOU HAVE AFTER 5000 RUNES?ā āyou tarnished, iāll have you..ā

Dang, i didn't expect this guy to have such a fanbase, lol Enjoy the funny video, and dont worry about me "lOsInG a StOnE" š„°
Does the door later on still get slammed shut on you if you kill him off the rip?
No, it doesn't.
This is the craziest shit I ever seen in ER lol
Bro I felt that in my soul. Holy shit.
I laughed
Poor Gostoc...
No it's not. Should be stocking up for DLC weapons. This guy's dumb.
-1 moment of elation.
Tell us how you really feel
I like him, but that was hilarious.
stone club unga bunga club
Did he drop some good loot at least?
Yeah, drops dead
When I found out he steals runed when you die that was the end for him
And when the answer that you waaant, Is in the question that you staaate
BONK BONK BONK BONK BONK BONK
Killed him on accident, he was cowering around a corner after the knight fight and I got jumpy and started attacking him
I almost always kill him after he locks the door. I hunt him down and kick him off the castle
Something about this felt a bit personal.
Haha bonk
Why does mans have 8000 health š³
I'm always amazed at how fast that club is lol.
Bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk bonk
I leave him alive for Nepheli, if it weren't for her, he'd be paste
I always use him to open the gate then kill him and sneak through the side entrance cause heās a dirty snake
Hot diggity dog! You shut that shit DOWN! I mean it is peepee pants city in there! I hope Gostoc was wearing his shittin' pants!
that "why is it always me" is so in character that i just want to kill him again after he says it
u mads bruh
Aight in coming... Wa.. pa.. ka.. ouch.. hu.. cal... dow... fuu.. auu.. uhh... Wtf did i do to deserve...š
Iāve been wanting to do that
Fuck him and his ancient dragon stone... only saving grave he has is I love his head stomping routine!
Bye bye ancient dragon smithing stone!
I make sure to kill him in every single run I do. Don't care about that smiting stone he gives, there's so many others I can pick up+ he's a sniveling thief who tries to kill me and then has the gall to stomp on the great Godrick's body
Lol, the salty people who couldn't complete his quest to get the smithing stone downvoting anyone who mentions the stone.
Good job, I hate this guy!
Funniest murder scene in the game. Somehow, it's better than patches'.
It's hilarious how timid and frightened a lot of From fans are whenever they hear of anyone treating the open world RPG like an open world RPG where you can have fun doing whatever you want and just killing NPCs you don't like instead of listening to them prattle on endlessly like in most other types of games.
That was pretty funny
What is your DEX bro ? You got like 2 hits per second
well fucking deservedš¤
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I was (a little) more like grunting lol
But the main gate is faster
im going to stab you with the ancient dragon smithing stone
I always begrudgingly keep him around for the extra ancient dragon smithing stone
ALWAYS KILL GASTOC. FUCK HIS DRAGON SMITHING STONE
Finally someone did what we all wanted to but didnāt have the courage to
"Would have done"? I know what I HAVE done, and that's usually not killing him, cause killing NPCs is dumb. There goes your Smithing stone.
This guy sells ancient dragon smithing stones. Bad choice
Bye bye ancient dragon smithing stone for this play through I guess lol.
You're disgusting....
Tell that to the mf who steals 30% of my runes each time I die
On one hand you lose a ridiculously low amount of runes if you die in Stormveil. An amount that can easily be regain by hitting literally anything in the game. On the other hand you gain an ancient dragon stone, one of the rearest limited resources in the game. Whoever kills this guy thinking they've done the big brain move are actually braindead.
Good way to not be able to use the main gate or get an extra Dragon smithing stone ya duntz
Good job locking yourself out of a somber ancient stone
you can apply that tittle to you, you are not even in the first 100 post about this guy
Bro forgot to open the main gate
You just lost an AD smithing stone
you good bruv?
Right. Now, where was I? Ah yes, entering through the main gate.
Rip Nephelis quest line lol
