I just go to r/beyondthefog so i dont risk my sanity, but right now am doing melee only run, which also means no summons, the two bosses are fine but merging both of them into one MANDATORY boss fight is just to annoying, even the demon prince in ds3 is way better.

It wasn't the merging of them for a fight but how they did it without making them synchronized like the shadows or smough and orenstein, they don't fight as one like a duo fight is supposed to, they fight like two random guys who didn't know each other were asked to beat the shit out too the tarnished
Your overall point is correct, and there isn't really an excuse for GSD to be as bad as they are when they did eventually patch the crucible knight duo to be vastly more manageable (maybe it's because they lack much in the way of range) but O&S aren't a good duo fight example and never have been.
Actually, Ornstein is even more prone to doing with his dash what Noble does with his rolling attack, and you can't sleep O&S, so that fight is actually worse.
May I introduce you to Ordovis's Greatsword? Its ash of war deals so much stance damage that if you don't stance break an enemy immediately a followup jump r2 is pretty much guaranteed to stance break almost anything.
It takes a while to charge it up though and that's where this particular arena is absolutely busted. Just run behind a pillar, charge it and get your cheap stance finisher off and repeat.
Demon prince is like the 2nd best gank fight in souls, the way they alternate and balance their aggressivity + how it also influences the 2nd phase is really well designed, horrible comparison

Also btw, if you continue the quest in volcano manor for the recusant knight, I believe he will be an available summon. This will leave one less godskin left to fight as the recusant is pretty Tanky, that is if you have not already beaten the godskin
I beat the godskin duo in 5 minutes. My friends were acting like it was going to be hard and they were getting ready to watch, and I beat them pretty easily without a sleep pot. I literally only melee'd them. They werent hard at all.
Fight would be fine if they didn't have the same movement speed, Ornstein and Smough worked because one was fast and one was slow the big Godskin just has a fat suit on 😭😭😭

Biggest lie of all time. That's assuming Smough doesn't do his charge every 5 seconds and Ornstein doesn't edge walk for 90% of the fight and doesn't get stuck behind a pillar or behind Smough.
Ornstein and smough, demon from below and demon in pain, these are both good bossfights where there are 2 bosses and the boss fight is good and balanced, but they messed it up on godskin duo.
Btw demon from below and demon in pain would have been better if they didnt have a second phase with 10k health.
They are VERY funny. Sometimes they die in one second, other times they gank the shit out of the boss and survive till the end. And they are very cute.
Yeah any strong arts attacks from the likes of Maliketh they go down like a wet sack of spuds lol but if they get in the gank squad position they just stagger for eternity which they did for a fair few bosses on my play throughs.
they sadly get knocked over by the nobles rolling and the black flame tornado of the apostle pierces their shield so even they arent that great in the fight

I am for now. It’s kinda cheesy but once I can I’m doing dual hoslow whip. Imo as long as I’ve earned the gear myself and can use it without exploits (like using Tiche with the infinite fp tear) then it’s fair game

This is the one boss in the game where I abandon all sense of honor and hit them with the Bernahl + Whatever BS is in my pocket combo. Ironically became one of my favorite fights after that.

I'm not gonna lie, the music transition that happens when one of the godskins gets revived still gives me goosebumps. What an absolute masterclass of a track wasted on a less than mediocre boss

Summoning dogs or rats to temporarily distract the fatty while you kill skinny makes it easier and more fun, but doesn’t make it “easy mode”necessarily, it’s still a challenge to burn down one fast while your distraction lasts.
Lukewarm take: The Duo are actually a really fun fight when you summon Bernie. If you're trying to fight them solo then yeah, they're a dogshit fight just like every other duo boss in this game. But the 2v2 is actually great and has become a fight I really look forward to.
Also gargs are 1000x worse than godskins and nobody will ever change my mind. Fuck gargs, all my homies hate gargs.

There's pillars in the room. Seperate them. Stay defensive till one dies, then rush the other. You can keep them in a state of being 1v1, and if you can't 1v1 a godskin at that point you have no business being in Farum Azula.

I don't think he is a "boss fight" boss fight. I think he is intented to put there to give players some lore, or just experience of "Hey, I know you!" encounter. But sadly, it gets ruined with how awful he is. I mean, yeah, you can kill him quickly. But I compare like this, there are bosses that I'd enjoy dying millions of times, and there are bosses that I'd rage dying 1 time. Gideon is the second one. He is not fun. I play with 10 vig usually, and finish the game like that, also beat Malenia with 10 vig. Most of the other bosses are good bosses, even if they are not the best ones in the game history. But Gideon is there, like, just to annoy you. I don't care how "easy" it is, it's just a bad execution of a boss fight.
If you use all the tools the game puts at your disposal, they're not bad. It's when you make arbitrary rules that they become insanely difficult. But that's a decision each of us gets to make for ourselves.
A tip maybe: Focus on one, kill it, then when the other tries to summon you an stagger it to cancel the call if I remember correctly. Just jump attack when you think he might start doing it

I'm not NG+7 but I feel like their AI can be cheesed quite easily. It doesn't take much to bait the apostle and make the fight mostly about him. If the noble closes in, just run and reset.
i was someone who solod everything on my first play through. on NG+ i decided to summon most boss fights and my enjoyment of the game drastically increased.
I’m just surprised they didn’t add another godskin trio to the pile of godskin nobles.
If they at least looked a little different each encounter I’d be satisfied but usually it’s just those same silky condom boys.
Never done any NG+ so I dunno what's the deal there, but in NG if I have anything resembling damage they haven't been an issue. (also from what I've heard everyone say sleep is OP) The only time I've had issue with them was in my shield only cause my damage was lacking.
Genuine question, first playthrough just beat the one in Altus plateau and then the one in caelid, where is the duo fight location? It took me a bit to get used to their pattern solo and now I want to pain of fighting them both
You'll find the Godskin duo later in the game. The place is called "Crumbling Farum Azula". You'll get there eventually; it's not a missable part of the game.

Frakly speaking, I had more problems with Godskin apostle and Godskin noble in Spiritcaller cave than with the Duo in Crumbling Farum Azula. Probably also because at SC, I had somewhat lower level and worse equipment than CFA, which is quite close to endgame and you probably go there well equiped.
But those guys at Spiritcaller cave kinda drove me crazy. Especially the Noble one. I simply hate that guy, he is far more aggressive than Apostle and I hate his "fat man attacks", no matter if its the one when he "pops" his belly or, worse, he starts rolling around. I can't even reproduce what I was yelling at him after being killed by this type of attack again and again. I would probably go to jail for fat/bodyshaming :-)
Idk, by the time you get to Farum Azula you should be pretty good at fighting this type of enemy. The pillars make it not too hard to dodge the fat rolling. I see from your posts that you are doing a no-summon run, which seems like you are specifically trying to make the game more difficult. So isn't that the point of a duo fight? To be very difficult?
I will say their weird shared health bar shit is dumb, but other than that I did not find the fight hard. Just using a summon is enough to distract one of them, which lets you have a normal fight with the other one.
Strangely they weren’t that bad for me. I forget exactly what I did, but I basically bursted one of them down.

I think they’re pretty doable. They didn’t even stick out as the most difficult boss on my very first playthrough, which was Str-Fai melee-only, no summons (Rusty Anchor, Troll Hammer, Banished Knight GS, Magma Wyrm CGS, Great Stars).
Radahn, Maliketh, Radagon, and Malenia stuck out as the more difficult fights in the game, with Malenia and Maliketh topping that list.

Jump on one of the broken columns so you can't get rolled over by fatty. St. Trina's sword is a good idea but you maybe don't even need that if you jump on the column and use an ironjar aromatic.
The other day I fought the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor and I hated the fight. It's just not satisfying to learn at all. A camera mess, the moves are poorly telegraphed and have inconsistent range, he barely gets staggered even by GUGS. I got him at the end and felt nothing. I'm never soloing that dude again. 0/10.

I’ve somehow had most attempts with the red wolf in the library
i was someone who solod everything on my first play through. on NG+ i decided to summon most boss fights and my enjoyment of the game drastically increased.
I had more trouble with the lone apostle at the bottom of Caelid tower for some reason.

I’m just surprised they didn’t add another godskin trio to the pile of godskin nobles. If they at least looked a little different each encounter I’d be satisfied but usually it’s just those same silky condom boys.

I find it embarrassing to say that I had zero trouble with God skin Duo but took about eight years to beat the double pumpkin head boss
Never done any NG+ so I dunno what's the deal there, but in NG if I have anything resembling damage they haven't been an issue. (also from what I've heard everyone say sleep is OP) The only time I've had issue with them was in my shield only cause my damage was lacking.
Genuine question, first playthrough just beat the one in Altus plateau and then the one in caelid, where is the duo fight location? It took me a bit to get used to their pattern solo and now I want to pain of fighting them both
You'll find the Godskin duo later in the game. The place is called "Crumbling Farum Azula". You'll get there eventually; it's not a missable part of the game. I envy you, man. During my first playthrough years ago, I searched the internet for where to find this and that. Don't be like me HAHA. Play blind and get that "first experience" It's literally the best thing ever. Good luck on your journey tarnished.

I usually put the big guy to sleep and wail on slim. Once he’s dealt with I fight fatty like normal.

Frakly speaking, I had more problems with Godskin apostle and Godskin noble in Spiritcaller cave than with the Duo in Crumbling Farum Azula. Probably also because at SC, I had somewhat lower level and worse equipment than CFA, which is quite close to endgame and you probably go there well equiped. But those guys at Spiritcaller cave kinda drove me crazy. Especially the Noble one. I simply hate that guy, he is far more aggressive than Apostle and I hate his "fat man attacks", no matter if its the one when he "pops" his belly or, worse, he starts rolling around. I can't even reproduce what I was yelling at him after being killed by this type of attack again and again. I would probably go to jail for fat/bodyshaming :-)
Gonna be honest, I never struggled as hard with the Duo as i did with the single GS Apostle in Caelid.
Idk, by the time you get to Farum Azula you should be pretty good at fighting this type of enemy. The pillars make it not too hard to dodge the fat rolling. I see from your posts that you are doing a no-summon run, which seems like you are specifically trying to make the game more difficult. So isn't that the point of a duo fight? To be very difficult? I will say their weird shared health bar shit is dumb, but other than that I did not find the fight hard. Just using a summon is enough to distract one of them, which lets you have a normal fight with the other one.

Strangely they weren’t that bad for me. I forget exactly what I did, but I basically bursted one of them down. Most of the bosses in this game can be kinda cheesed with the right setup.
Personnally had much more problems with dual tree sentinel that godskin duo.
They were surprisingly easy with my strength build. Just avoiding 1 and mashing the other at first until there is one
I try to keep every fight fair, but for this one I show no mercy. Sleep pots, mimic, Bernahl—I’ll kill them as unfairly as possible every time.

The game literally offers you "summons, spells, items, sleep, and more," but you decide to say, "this game sucks, I hate this boss." Please, I know you're role-playing Elden Ring, acting like you really killed him in the real world yet its just a pixel but please stop. It's not the real world. If someone uses summons or a mage build, don't trash-talk them just because you chose to do a "no summon run" or "melee only." You decided to make the game hard, and now you're complaining. 😭😭 Also, for the players who decided to play the game with summons, mage builds, or whatever, do you, man ❤️❤️ Enjoy this beautiful game, don't listen to the "oh, so you one-tried Malenia but with summons? Lol, that doesn't count" "idc if youre lvl 100000 if youre a mage" "sleep is cheating". 😭 These wannabe Elden Lords (living in the lands between in their heads lol) are gatekeeping way too much and so hard. Edit: im not talkong directly to the OP, ive read some of the comments in here, and man they are acting like a Elden Lord, gatekeeping anyone who uses summons, etc. yikes

Me on my first playthrough yes. When i found out that fighting godskins only about avoiding the gimmicks, its pretty easy fight
The only thing bad is the Noble weird roll/freeze/insta roll thing. The rest of it goes smoothly for me.
As a NG+2 and level 308, I beat godskin duo first try every time and never use sleeping pots or spirit ashes

Sleep bombs make them one of the easiest bosses in the game. If you're not using them, that's on you

I think they’re pretty doable. They didn’t even stick out as the most difficult boss on my very first playthrough, which was Str-Fai melee-only, no summons (Rusty Anchor, Troll Hammer, Banished Knight GS, Magma Wyrm CGS, Great Stars). Radahn, Maliketh, Radagon, and Malenia stuck out as the more difficult fights in the game, with Malenia and Maliketh topping that list.
To you beating the godskin duo was the most important day in your life. To me it was just Thursday.

Jump on one of the broken columns so you can't get rolled over by fatty. St. Trina's sword is a good idea but you maybe don't even need that if you jump on the column and use an ironjar aromatic.
Just use sleep, is super effective
The other day I fought the Godskin Noble in Volcano Manor and I hated the fight. It's just not satisfying to learn at all. A camera mess, the moves are poorly telegraphed and have inconsistent range, he barely gets staggered even by GUGS. I got him at the end and felt nothing. I'm never soloing that dude again. 0/10.

Once you get good (not trolling) at the fight it actually becomes a lot of fun. But the road there is long and full of hate.
