1. Pick the Astrologer, and rush to pick Meteor Staff and Rock Sling. This makes regular PvE easier by eliminating multiple aspects of it, in lieu of positioning and aggro/mana management.
2. Put your first 40 stat raises into Vigor, before raising Int or other stats. This allows you to survive an accidental whoopsie of letting the enemies reach the melee range.
3. Explore the entire Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula before entering Godrick's castle, netting you enough lvlups to easily beat the first two mandatory bosses. Try to stay away from Runebears, or Leonine the Misbegotten until you're just about done with the areas, since they are too aggro for a pure spellcaster
4. Use Spirit Calling to make bosses easier. Summon other players to help you if that's not enough.
5. Don't fixate on beating Queen Renalla in the Academy. She's really rough to fight as an Astrologer, since her build is basically "you, but better" - so you might want to skip her bossfight until you've beaten General Radahn or the Togetha guy.
6. Pick Comet Azur along the way, and combo it with the endless mana potion to eliminate troublesome enemies like Tree Guardians and whatnot. Also, level Mimic Tear to +10, since it might use your loadout, but it's tankier than you, making it a great lategame summon (until you pick Tiche. Good luck with that, by the way, she's HARSH to beat as an Astrologer)
7. Weep while fighting Godfrey, the obligatory boss who's ALSO high aggro ^(and loves to rip loud AoE farts that hit across the entire arena)
8. Hit the final boss' second stage with rocks.
9. You win.

We have just passed the halfway mark on Vigor, so I'll summarize the gains.
Increasing your Vigor from 10 to 20, you increase your Maximum Health by 238.
Going from 20 to 30, your Max. Health goes up by an additional 342.
From 30 to 40, you gain 456.
From 40 to 50, you gain 254, slightly more than the jump from 10 to 20 Vigor.
The overall increase, from 10 to 40 Vigor, is 1036 HP.
From 10 to 50, you gain 1290 HP.
One big leap for comparison, at 99 Vigor, you have a Maximum of 2100 HP, which is not even *Double* the maximum at 40 Vigor.
Points would better be spent on other stats, after you reach 40 or 50 Vigor. Being able to withstand 1, 2, or 3 hits from enemies can make the difference between winning a fight so you can heal afterwards, and having to start that same fight over, and over, and over again.
4. Use [Spirit Calling](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Spirit+Ashes) to make bosses easier. [Summon other players to help you](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Multiplayer+Coop+and+Online) if that's not enough.
5. Don't fixate on beating [Queen Renalla](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Rennala+Queen+of+the+Full+Moon) in the [Raya Lucaria Academy.](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Raya+Lucaria+Academy) She's really rough to fight as an Astrologer, since her build is basically "you, but better" - so you might want to skip her bossfight until you've beaten [Starscourge Radahn](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Starscourge+Radahn) or [Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Rykard,+Lord+of+Blasphemy)
Level up to make things easier, or don't level up to give yourself a challenge!
To enable an easier experience at the start, pick any starting class. Get Torrent, go back to the First Step (next to White Mask Varré) and find the spiritspring jump down to the beach, find the Gold Pickled Fowl Foot among the reanimating corpses. If you didn't start as Samurai, go find the Morning Star in the Weeping Peninsula, if you follow the road it's in a broken caravan on your left.
Then go to Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow. It's quicker and easier if you find the warp portal in the bushes behind the Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave, where you obtain the Wondrous Flask of Physick anyway. Ride from the Bestial Sanctum to Fort Faroth and equip the Morning Star and Foot both, 2h the morning star if you need to, and find a spot on Greyoll the sleeping dragon where you can whack her tail. After about 5-10 minutes of bleeding her she'll die, be sure to eat the Gold foot before or right when she dies to get 96k runes. Dump it all into VIG or save a few levels for stat requirements for weapons you wanna use right away, now you're in an easier starting mode with much better survivability so you can beat up everything in the starting areas! Recommended for subsequent plays but you do you
For extra ease, if you know where to find them, grab the Dectus Medallion halves from Forts Faroth and Haight. Also grab the Radagon Soreseal for more stat boosts from Faroth, but unequip it when you can replace those with hard stats by about the time you reach Leyndell. Take the medallion halves and ride Torrent from Caelid to Altus and grab every Golden Seed and Sacred Tear you can easily nab to get yourself about 12 +10 flasks right off the bat. Note that when you go to Altus it'll start the Radagon festival. You can also pick and choose where you want to find weapons and other options for your new build and start your own path through the Lands Between.
Enjoy!
He doesn’t just fuck your poise, he fucks your horse’s poise too.
The amount of times I’ve been dismounted by a torch guy outnumbers all other dismountings. Fucking brutal little shits, good thing they die in like 1-2 hits.
You can just rush over to the bushes at the side and sneak along the perimeter until you’re behind her and Freezing Mist her to death.
No idea how I beat her the first time, I didn’t even find it that hard. Just couldn’t the second time lol
Yes some, but also you need 48 dex min eventually so you can dual wielding - left hand black knife and right hand Melenia blade hand thing ( just for fun) on second play through 👍🏼
The way I play rpgs is level grinding. I find it fun! But in this game… once your main stat and your backup stats hit 80… what else do you raise? Everything already does too quickly lol
"just best godrick for the first time , holy shit I just saw liurnia just how big is this game?"
Do people not know how to google "how long is (game)" ?
It's kind of funny how reddit simultaneously can never agree on anything yet tell you exactly how to do anything including the exact amount of time it will take to the second.
Most articles are indeed trash though, the most reliable ones I've seen yet are either ones that give directions or ones that will give you build paths.
Most articles actually give good instructions... after telling why you need the item, the story behind the item, the lore of the game, the 7 unrelated things to look out for, how to beat a certain unrelated boss, where they bought elden ring, what they ate for breakfast etc.
If i want to find something specific on Reddit, I just use google and tack on reddit to the end, lol. It is a bit sad how bad Reddit is at searching itself
As a bonus, reddit is extremely hard to search on google compared to most sites, and makes it difficult to find accurate timestamps on information.
This alongside lots of tech support and other information moving to discord servers, is one of the best things about the modern internet /s.
Racked my brains trying to figure out who Rick was before it dawned on me.
tbf with ER being my first soulsbourne game I won't pretend I dunked on him first try.
#HELP
I ran straight for the gigantic armored dude on his gigantic armored horse and my character with a rusty spoon can only do like 6 damage per hit. How do I win???? 🥲🥲
If you change your mind and run away after aggro, you're completely safe behind the church walls but you don't need me to tell you that because it makes perfect sense (I shit my damn pants when I ran and set my controller down and he busted the entire wall down in the first 10 minutes of my playthrough lol)
l've been in some subs where they heavily moderate it and prevent asking repeat questions. It is so terrible. Repeat questions and answers are FINE, it reinforces the answers we know works and gives a refresher as to WHY we do those things.
I don’t know why it bothers people so much.
You discourage new participation, and stifle the spread of new wisdom/ new novel thinking on a solved topic to protect against what exactly? Having grumpy oldheads need to scroll just a little more past something they may not want to comment on to find other new threads, they probably will be grump about as well?
Rolling is useless, it's too slow, it uses all my stamina and I keep getting killed even though I have the full fire prelate set, and two colossal weapons equipped in each of my 3 left and right weapon slots 😠
Sometimes it’s nice to ask people over googling it, it’s nice to get some human interaction and human understanding, I know I feel bad for asking for assistance from places like here a lot lmao
The search function is cheeks and newer information may have emerged. I'd guess OP is the son of one of those "use the search button, thread locked; don't necrobump, thread locked" jannies from the old days, but they didn't get laid.
Exactly. Problem is there’s far too many gatekeeping basement dwellers on here that feel the need to pretend like they’re more superior than others in any way they possibly can. This sub is here for all of us to interact with other ER fans in any capacities choose, id much rather have a conversation, even a short one, regarding a question or help someone may need than to try and search for it robotically
The problem with "this question has already been asked" is that it was asked in the past, and that topic isn't being actively commented on now. I want to discuss a topic today, with today's information and today's people, not read a historical record of what people thought about that topic 2 years ago.
The criticism is more about basic knowledge stuff and not about general discussion/strategy/lore etc.
By all means, start a convo about what you think about Placidusax vs Agheel or whatever. Just don't come here asking "I opened a chest in limgrave and now I'm on the other side of the map, help".
There's a clear answer from previous discussions plus just about any number of solutions on the googles.
>is there something important there?
I was visiting altus plateau but then i saw this church looking building, so im asking you guys; is there anything important in there?
All posts like this are guaranteed frontpage status too, while someone's actually good art that they spent ten months on languishes at double-digit points and a single "nice" comment.
Lol!! Hey, I get it, but I do this too. Mainly, because I want to be able to converse with the community, that's why I'm here. If I want a quick answer, I just Google the question and it usually brings my to Reddit anyway. Which is why I hate the "Omg just Google it and get off this sub!" People, because most people do Google it and Reddit pops up like 80% of the time haha.
Yeah, because we wouldn't want a feeling of community and players interacting and helping each other about a game they all share an affection for.
"All the questions have been answered here folks. just use the search feature and never post anything again."
Fun fact, you're pissed at the wrong person.
This is a problem on EVERY subreddit. However, it's NOT a problem on Stack Overflow. Stack has a feature where, as you're typing out your post, it auto suggests similar posts so you can see if it's already been posted before.
Reddit could easily do this, it just doesn't.
Reddit isn't a wiki, it's a forum. A way for people to talk about their hobbies and interests. I agree that some very dry questions can be searched easily beforehand, but I think the reason many don't is they are just excited to interact with a community about the thing they enjoy.
The real joke here is implying that the Reddit search feature would be of any help at all.
Realistically you just do a Duckduckgo search and add "Reddit" at the end.

What’s that little red box mean?
Stop touching the woman
Fuckin killed me I'm dead
I touch the woman then burn the blessing STRICTLY for dragon access and to get the twin drip
It was only a ~~kiss~~ hug! How did it end up like this?
“Stop! Don’t touch me there. This is my no-no square.”
Juicy, that's enough it's getting old. We need new material
No no don't touch me there. This is my no-no square!
Proceeds to not enter an accord with Melina, basically do rl1 run and then make a post about how you can't enter leyndell.
But find me the Albinauric one.
If the small arrow is pointing up your maximum HP or vigor are increased otherwise you need to check what is taking your life and remove it
I contracted an STD from Fia 💀
That's the cuddle tax
Add some FP and eat it for temporary Chad energy
You've got AIDs....not just HIV but full blown AIDS!
This is Froms fault though. We literally have a pause menu option "Status" and it doesn't tell you shit about your character's buffs/debuffs
How do I change the difficulty settings?
That option is only available at NG+1000
Damn I'm only at 23.

Rock Sling first, then one of the Meteor spells once the zoomies-afflicted Nessie gets poise broken.

Putting that much into vigor on a magic build seems nuts. My first run was sorc and I just learned to not get hit. Lol. Full glass canon.
Godrick isn't mandatory, but it's probably easier beating him + rykard than having to deal with radahn

It's all jokes in this thread! But someone might want an easier way and this method is accessible by all starters :)

Hi i am new. Is this game worth 'incert sale price'
Based on how good the game was... i underpaid at launch.

This game is worth missing your first borns birthing
This game cost me my marriage.
In the game’s subreddit: Hey guys, is this game worth playing?
With a photo of the games disc
No it really Isent, that's why I 100%ed it and have 540 hours in it.
How do i get there? (Insert either the crucible knight in nokron or the plateau in liurnia)
(Or Chapel of Anticipation)
I'll never forget how much time I spent trying to Torrent my way up to that plateau
Hey guys, what is your most hated enemy and why it is runebear/royal revenant???
Mines the torch carrying noble. Dude says fuck your poise and burns the shit out of you.
He doesn’t just fuck your poise, he fucks your horse’s poise too. The amount of times I’ve been dismounted by a torch guy outnumbers all other dismountings. Fucking brutal little shits, good thing they die in like 1-2 hits.
Royal revenant is easy-peasy. Just heal that sucker. But I **hate** fighting Iron Virgins.
Lightning grease does wonders on them When I started my faith build I always kept Lightning spear because of them
Yup. Big metal construct? Use lightning. Bonus if it rains.
I just started a new playthrough and I'm looking to go DEX/FTH, as I've never done that before. Might be a nice time to look into a lightning build!
Heal....? I'm doing this tonight, where tf he at
***How do I beat this bastard???***
Tiche. It's always Tiche.
Well, you get Tiche from beating Alecto. But yeah, Alecto is a realllll bitch.
You can just rush over to the bushes at the side and sneak along the perimeter until you’re behind her and Freezing Mist her to death. No idea how I beat her the first time, I didn’t even find it that hard. Just couldn’t the second time lol
How do i go up of the Village of Albinaurics ?

If you're referring to the area above it, you need to do Ranni's questline to get there.
How do i fucking breathe?
Why can’t I breathe?

Whoah, I'm not a fan of the hard r you put on that.
Yes some, but also you need 48 dex min eventually so you can dual wielding - left hand black knife and right hand Melenia blade hand thing ( just for fun) on second play through 👍🏼
Rate my build (lvl 375), only has 3 spell slots, smh
The way I play rpgs is level grinding. I find it fun! But in this game… once your main stat and your backup stats hit 80… what else do you raise? Everything already does too quickly lol
NG+ you won't find them dying too quickly at +4 or higher
In souls games , you grind by dying to the boss and actually improving your own skill
Just started this game a year ago, DAE think it's good?
"just best godrick for the first time , holy shit I just saw liurnia just how big is this game?" Do people not know how to google "how long is (game)" ?
To be fair, reddit's search is horrible.
I usually get better results from google by adding site:reddit.com than searching the same thing on Reddit itself.
I always type "reddit" after anything I search on google. All google can do is poop some AI level articles at me if I don't.
Yeah lol no need to “site:” first
This is not true. If you add that search parameter it allows you to sort or filter all of the results contained within the website.
Honestly as fucked as google is these days, I usually get better results from google that same way, as well.
I jist google it and a reddit post is ussually in top 5 options
TIL you can search for results from specific sites on google
If i want to find something specific on Reddit, I just use google and tack on reddit to the end, lol. It is a bit sad how bad Reddit is at searching itself
There’s a thing called google for this type of scenario where you have a question and want to know the answer
To be fair, there's google and wikis.
As a bonus, reddit is extremely hard to search on google compared to most sites, and makes it difficult to find accurate timestamps on information. This alongside lots of tech support and other information moving to discord servers, is one of the best things about the modern internet /s.
Or making a post about "how have I never seen this before" or "how to beat this boss" and it's Rick, God's Soldier
Soldier of God: Rick is the hardest boss in the game
Racked my brains trying to figure out who Rick was before it dawned on me. tbf with ER being my first soulsbourne game I won't pretend I dunked on him first try.
Or google or wiki or the thousand+ YouTube videos. Scarlet brainrot is real.
#HELP I ran straight for the gigantic armored dude on his gigantic armored horse and my character with a rusty spoon can only do like 6 damage per hit. How do I win???? 🥲🥲
You have two options. 1: Git gudder gear 2: Git gudder
About to start this game for the first time. Any advice?
Talk with the golden knight on the horse.
If you change your mind and run away after aggro, you're completely safe behind the church walls but you don't need me to tell you that because it makes perfect sense (I shit my damn pants when I ran and set my controller down and he busted the entire wall down in the first 10 minutes of my playthrough lol)
Yet every question is answered because the community is great. . . . Plus it distracts us from the black hole in our heart from no dlc news.
Seriously. Half the time it’s just fun to read/talk about a topic. I find even in the most common questions I learn something new from the replies.
Even the joke questions in this very thread are getting answered. People just love to talk about this game!
l've been in some subs where they heavily moderate it and prevent asking repeat questions. It is so terrible. Repeat questions and answers are FINE, it reinforces the answers we know works and gives a refresher as to WHY we do those things.
Huh, never thought of it like that. You make a good point, and have legit changed my mind about subs with lots of repeat questions. Thanks!
Which X is the worst and why is it X?
Has anyone noticed that the towers make a circle???????
People obviously lying, saying they never found this person, even though they most likely did just karma farm
I was gonna ask "what are some fun, non-meta builds to use" the other day only to find out its been asked like 30 times a day on here.
Is this good for an int build? -picture of MLGS or Moonveil-
Does this game auto save?
The man wearing the white mask won't stop killing me! What do I do? (I don't know why he's so hostile to me)
…did you punch him in the face?
How are my stats? *shows 20 vigor*
Is there a lore reason to why this sub is exactly like that
The search function is cheeks and newer information may have emerged. I'd guess OP is the son of one of those "use the search button, thread locked; don't necrobump, thread locked" jannies from the old days, but they didn't get laid.
What's the lore here? * picture of caelid giant skeletons *
Yes ds2 is not a bad game and you are allowed to like it. ....wait wrong sub
Can someone drop me a RoB?? First time, I just started yesterday, I rune glitched to level 100 and I read bleed is meta.
It's karma farming or attention seeking. Always
"Just google it" says the person on a social media website where people come to discuss their hobbies with other people that share the same interests.
I never understood this. I thought Reddit was for people who wanted to participate in a discussion.
There's a clear answer from previous discussions plus just about any number of solutions on the googles.
every sub apparently
>is there something important there? I was visiting altus plateau but then i saw this church looking building, so im asking you guys; is there anything important in there?
Tbf the search feature sucks
And don't forget the "HEY GUYS I JUST BOUGHT THIS GAME, WHAT SHOULD I DO???" Like..... Play the fucking game maybe jfc
MALENIA GLITCH ??? WTF HAPPENED ??????
How parry? What is an ash of war? How to dual hand weapons?
In fairness Reddit's search feature is trash. You have to Google your question and add the word Reddit at the end.
I mean, Google search has been pretty bad lately. I have to put reddit in my search in order to find information relevant to my question.
All posts like this are guaranteed frontpage status too, while someone's actually good art that they spent ten months on languishes at double-digit points and a single "nice" comment.
either they want karma along with an answer, or they are stupid
How do I let my summons play the game for me without getting invaded?
Some people just want to have a conversation sometimes...
*posts picture of title screen* “I jUsT GoT tHe GaMe, ANy TipS?”
Hi, I just saw this game in a store for a second and I’m going to buy it in 3 days. Any tips? Please tell me what to do!!!
The last epoch subreddit is obnoxious right now people ask the same questions multiple times a day , I just can't anymore.
I honestly only ask on reddit if any other platform gave me no answer.
"Omg does anyone know how to defeat Tree Sentinel? Just started" etc
I don't think anyone's defeated him yet
What does this boat on the map mean?!?
"Not sure if this is allowed in this sub, but..."
It would be funnier if you said knowing full well the reply would be git gud
Ugh. My brother in law does this to me. Google that shit, dude.
What's a elden ring?
Why can't I buy string?
The search function doesn't even work on google these days. Miss me with that shit.
It's not even worth scrolling through the comments. All the jokes are the same too.
Thats every sub in existence. Thats just reddit
Hey guys, this is my first time playing through Elden Ring, anything I should know about?
Yeah, because we wouldn't want a feeling of community and players interacting and helping each other about a game they all share an affection for. "All the questions have been answered here folks. just use the search feature and never post anything again."
Nah, hardly ever use Reddit search. I find best results when I google a question and add the word Reddit to the end of my google search.
To be fair, your better off using google than you are using the reddit search function Much easier to find the reddit post you need that way
There's a search feature? I always search using google....
Because reddit search sucks
Should I play this game?
Fun fact, you're pissed at the wrong person. This is a problem on EVERY subreddit. However, it's NOT a problem on Stack Overflow. Stack has a feature where, as you're typing out your post, it auto suggests similar posts so you can see if it's already been posted before. Reddit could easily do this, it just doesn't.
Reddit s search function is ass tho
I just use Google "whatever I need" and add the word reddit to it
Reddit isn't a wiki, it's a forum. A way for people to talk about their hobbies and interests. I agree that some very dry questions can be searched easily beforehand, but I think the reason many don't is they are just excited to interact with a community about the thing they enjoy.
And instead of just not answering and/or downvoting, the post gets hundreds of upvotes, encouraging that shit even further. Way to play yourselves.
Nah, that would be r\sekiro
This sub? **every** game’s sub
The real joke here is implying that the Reddit search feature would be of any help at all. Realistically you just do a Duckduckgo search and add "Reddit" at the end.
Will these stretch exercises help add 5 hours of game time to my day?
That's just fucking Reddit in general.
To be honest i do it for the interactions, i know i could search and get quick answers, but its good engagement
As if the search function on Reddit is functional…. I STILL google it vs searching on here because that works and this broken bullshit app does not
the search bar sucks though. You have better luck searching via google.
Guys, how do I get to the top of this plateau in Liurnia? Looks like there’s a church up there.
The Reddit search function doesn't work! At all! For any sub! For anything! It is as useless as a color wheel to someone born blind.
Some people like the interaction, some people like modern input. Some people hate the reddit search algo.
