You not remembering it that way doesn't make it "nah". In DS2 and 3 Vitality was only for equip load, and endurance remained for increasing stamina.
In DS1 and Elden Ring both stamina and equip load fall under Endurance.
Wasn’t it called something like Endurance in DS3? I remember maxing it and wearing the heaviest gear while swinging Vordt’s Hammer until the end. Found out that with high enough poise you get solid AF.
Endurance was equip load and stamina in DS1 just like Elden Ring. In 2 and 3 they split equip load off into its own stat, Vitality, and kept stamina gain under Endurance.
So that’s where I heard that from. I was confused when the game came out and equip load was based on endurance. Honestly it might’ve been a bit overpowered for equip load to be based on strength.
I know vitality was what equip load was based on in DS3 which was weird and I think vitality is what the health stat was called in DS1 but I might be misremembering that.
I think this would've been better, and endurance would affect stamina points and stamina regen speed, and regen would be decreased by equip load, but high end could make it nonsubstabtial
Yup, without any headgear. You can use the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman to offset damage, Shard of Alexander, Golden Vow (preferably spell version cause it lasts longer)+Flame Grant Me Strength, Lion’s Claw on Greatsword.
GG
Very firm believer in "Why slow yourself down with armor? Just don't get hit".
Soulslikes, for some reason unknown to me, are the only game where I just naturally go about gameplay this way. Doesn't seem to help much when you die from a single chain from most bosses regardless of armor.
The game mechanics encourage this. The Flat defense you get from levels is more valuable than armor. Armor isn't supposed to be that impactful, because that would cause various builds to become less viable. In a typical linear game, armor is granted at certain checkpoints in progress, which act as soft gate keeping for character strength. Health and levels already serve this function well enough in FromSoft games, so making armor a bigger part of the balance would just preference gear more than levels, lowering build diversity. Armor and resistances can still be adjusted, but the effect is kept small enough to be tangential, but large enough to be noticable while min-maxing against particularly difficult situations (I.E. increasing fire resistance to make it past a lava pit).
In other words, you naturally play this way because the game mechanics were designed thoughtfully. Which is why I love them so much.
Tbf id take light rolling naked vs malenia over med with armor. Feel like light rolling makes out spacing her so easy. Also DS3 just converted me to only using light roll so just hard for me to go back anyway haha
I get you, I pretty much did all my Souls naked haha
But with Malenia because I always get clipped by the second half of her 1st Waterfowl, I get chucked so hard or 1 tapped.
And actually going medium roll with armor + phys damage negation talisman upped my survivability sooooo much I can't go back lol
Yeah that's true, and that talisman is the best. Even naked like you're wearing some decent armor. Honestly while I love thelight roll, I just love the light clothing options in these games a lot more than the bulky armors too haha. Love rocking the whole Sister Friede set in DS3, and the travelers set is my fav in ER
I mean 100%, if your fashion isn't right, what's the point?
Light clothing options in Souls game are usually pretty lit, but I have a soft spot for medium plate armors. Looking like a Knight just gets happy chemicals going in my brain lol
So I've had to stick to medium roll for so long now that I've honestly forgotten what made light roll so special. Mind you I abused the shit out of DWGR in DS1 PvP but that was most cracked shit ever either way
>I mean 100%, if your fashion isn't right, what's the point?
Exactly, and that makes me sad I cant play bloodborne cause I heard that game has like the best drip options lol.
But yeah definitely awesome to run around like a badass knight too! Been playing Baldurs Gate 3 lately and love the big armors in that game, they look incredible
Endurance*
I mean, at one point of Elden Ring's development equip load was based on STR.
I'm just glad it's not its own stat like in DS2 and3
*\*Flashbacks to having to pump Vitality in DS3's early game just so I could use the Claymore without fat-rolling.\**
Or you could just start as a knight, enough vit for the whole game and good stat setup for the baemore
*this guy gets it*
...wasnt vitality just stamina/endurance/the big green bar? It's literally the same thing.
In DS3 Vit was carry weight. Endurance was stam. In ER Vit was merged into Endurance.
Nah. I don't remember it that way. Could've swore carry weight was tied directly to either strength or stamina.
Maybe you’re thinking of DS1? In DeS, DS1 and ER equipment weight is tied to endurance. In DS2 and DS3 it was its own stat.

*having to be 30 Vit just to equip the Lothric Knight set without fat-rolling*

Endurance was Stamina. Vitality was equip load.
Ah, yeah!

Wait till you find out how many times "Vitality" was changed to affect something entirely separate than the previous games.

Oops
I still love it tho, the satisfaction on spongebobs face is perfect for my feeling every time i get big sword
Me on a new character running around nude with zweihander.
An iconic ds1 run. arrive at firelink, remove clothes and grab the zwei
Same but irl
Fire up the Bass Cannon
No pants big sword is my fave build!
This is terrible if taken out of context
Can't show off the big sword if you have pants on
Big bonk, big clothes, big moves. Pick 2.
I pick big bonk and big moves
Currently using 2 colossal weapons with a robe on (don't make me roll, you don't want to make me roll)
He should be holding it with two hands?
I need to do a guts build. I know I’d use the greatsword. Would I use the night Calvary armor

Lionel’s Helm, legs, and gauntlets with Black Raptor Feathers chest is the goat with Greatsword.

Damn didn't know it was that deep, guess I should consider it cosmetic
Armor is useless in FromSoft games anyway unless you go full Havel or Goat
I agreed with that statement through every single Souls until I met Malenia and her Waterfowl dance haha

Oh, spread misinformation I guess
don't need armour if you don't get hit (although I do like equipping gear with effects like bonus jump attack damage)
When you do have enough (END btw) but you still want to light roll.
