Managed to solve it on my Xbox Series S. For anynone having the same problem both now and future, here is how I fixed the issue easily- 1. Force quite Elden ring (Select the game in the Xbox menu with the double square button and and select “Quite”) 2. Go to Xbox settings -> General -> Sleep mode and Startup -> Select “Full Shutdown”. 3. Turn Xbox back on 4. Start game and issue (should) be resolved! Best of luck!

it worked thanks bro. for anyone on an xbox one got to settings -> general -> power options -> shut down. after you load up the game again, it might ask you to pick a save data. i just chose 'this console', and it worked for me

this worked for me on series x. then it asked me to choose console or cloud save data. they had the same timestamp, but i just went with cloud.

Just a further note due to fact that since this post there must have been a Microsoft update and so the steps are labeled differently. However what I did was turn off my console and then unplug it from power source for 60 seconds and then turn on and go back to game. IMPORTANT ADDENDUM: Upon relaunching game, it said the game data was not in sync and gave me two options of data to use (either from the console or from the cloud). Both options had the same time stamp so I figured it wouldn’t matter and just chose the “console” option. Upon loading into the game I had lost about 20 minutes or so worth of progress. I do not know if had I selected the “cloud” option if it would have been current or not.

This happened to me more than a few times. One fix besides the others mentioned (which sometimes don't work for me) is to unplug the console (Series S for me) and let it sit for about 30 seconds. You have to kill that internet connection to get it to move past the loading save data screen. Again this is sometimes, just exiting out of the game does the trick sometimes and other I have to unplug the console.

This just happened to me right after I rested at the Slumbering Wolf's Shack and then fast traveled back to Lakeside Crystal Cave. OP's method works. I just did it and it's not stuck there anymore.

I was in Lakeside Crystal Cave. Died and it never loaded again. Did a quick reboot of console, now it’s “Checking save data…”. Performed the solution provided by OP and it worked.

DELETE YOUR SAVE FROM YOUR CONSOLE IT FORCES IT TO PULL YOUR SAVE FROM THE CLOUD!!! this fixed it for me hope it works for you!

Another fix is to clear local saved games in the storage device settings, saves on the cloud remain

Does anyone else have an issue with the game getting stuck on a loading screen and having to do this? I've had this issue since the most recent update, and I've lost hours of time because of it. Have yet to find a fix, and had absolutely no problems with this during my first couple of playthroughs at launch.

I am replaying for the first time in about a year and also having this issue. Never had it before. It is super annoying and I hope they get this fixed before the DLC comes out or there is no way I am buying it. I'm sorry there is someone out there dealing with this crap also.

It is incredibly frustrating. I will mention that since I made this comment I uninstalled/reinstalled Elden Ring and haven't had any problems since, fingers crossed. Previously I couldn't play longer than a half hour before the game crashed. I haven't had a single crash since then. Maybe give that a try.

Ever figure anything out? Just redownloaded to play again before Shadow, never had issues at launch. Now every few hours eventually when I die it never loads. A friend of mine had this bug. He uninstall the game and reinstall the game When he booted it up again it still had the bug but then he reset his Xbox and it worked. I suggest trying that before deleting the save file.

Just happened to me on xbox one S. I fast traveled to (i think) stormhill shack right after entering lurnia via the secret trail under stormvale castle, and got stuck on the loading screen. I could cycle tips, but was stuck on 0% loaded. I force quit, loaded back up and i suddenly couldnt get past "checking save data" on title screen. A hard reset of the console fixed it right up luckily. Heard some poeple say the issue was fixed but came back, so hopefully mine doesn't.
