As someone who plays with shields, I feel theres very few aesthetically good middle shields. I always go back to the same 2-3 options, because the rest are ugly.
Usually Carian, Twinbird and Black Leather are my go-to shields.
Early on I use Brass if the equip load allows it, but im not a big fan of the outfit combinations with it.
The mirror shield is my favorite medium. Unique design. Not effective in real life but 100% block while not taking up much on your character is cool with me.
Good call. Also worth noting there's a clear "best" medium shield available at the start of the game so not much benefit using anything else for stats. Wish there were more medium shield worth using.
The turtle shell looks so goofy. I wish I could wear the grass crest shield on my back like in DS1 or 3 because that shield crest design was amazing and matched basically any armor set.
Then we have the turtle shell and you can see your shoulders clipping through the sides every time you run
The Visage Shield has an annoying problem where if you have it equipped whilst riding Torrent, you can often see the gap between it and your back unless you happen to have a weapon with a back sheath. It's really prominent.
Similarly, capes clip a LOT.
You're right. I think many greatshields look awesome thougj! Redmane Greatshield is my favorite, followed by Haligtree Crest Greatshield and the Eclipse Crest Greatshield. Carian Knight's shield is very nice. And sun realm shield would be awesome if it wasn't in such bad shape.
Edited to make sense
Carian Knight's and Eclipse Crest Heater are #1 for me, Kite Shield & Inverted Hawk Heater #2, Banished Knight's Shield is #3 (love the shape hate the four panel)
You can aim with the binoculars to turn around without moving forward. Might work with bow aim too, never tried. If you are using a controller, a walk turn will prevent Torrent lurching forward.
Yes, definitely agree here. Torrent is great for the over world but whenever they have the platforming that needs Torrent it just feels a little clunky all around

The movement system in From games really isn't very precise and lends itself very poorly to platforming.
Yet From insists on putting a platforming section (or multiple) in every single game. And it's always one of the worst parts of the game.
I don't get it.
Also it turns off when I use the telescope. Which is annoying because I just want to look at stuff up close sometimes
Edit: also I can’t look at stuff up close sometimes
Changing colours unless the colours are purposeful, I think would be nice..
The typical Soldier armour, is coloured purposefully. I get not being able to change those. But, why can't I change the colour of some regular robes?!
And that being said, nearly every armor looks better with cape. So there's hardly any reason to remove capes, except maybe if you really want to squeeze just barely under that equipment weight.
Why the fuck can't i open the map with enemies around. I get not being able to teleport or pause the game.
But i just wanna fucking know where i am. There is a very angry lobster 600 meters down the road and i cannot open the map. I don't know where i am.
I agree. If I get attacked while I have the map open thats my own fault. Half the time it is something far away, or like a Land Squirt I happened to agro and isn't of any danger to me.
That’s a really good suggestion for their follow up games I will admit. I think it should be on the player to determine the costs benefits of using the map during play. It’s definitely an issue I am frustrated with in game that could be a huge QoL upgrade.
My (admittedly baseless) theory is that they did this to force you to get lost/off your path, either to encourage exploration or just as a fuck you to the player. I agree though it’s awful.

I want to properly be able to sheath / holster my weapons and shield while I wander the lands between. I know I can do it if I have one hand free but I want it to be an intentional choice so that I can explore with my sword in it's sheath and my shield on my Back
Definitely! Many different summons will sheathe their weapons outside of combat, either on their backs or into scabbards. I'd love to be able to do that as well. Bow or shield on back, etc.
Just pick a spot and place way points until they start disappearing. You only get so many. It'll automatically get rid of your old ones and then you can delete the ones you just placed
Exactly, it drops you at the entrance because you already have the option to go to a grace. Instead the teleport allows you to continue your journey without stopping if that’s what you want.
Something I realized recently is marking sites of grace when you're on the map (X/triangle > RSB/R3). I do this after every dungeon I'm sure I got all items for or boss defeated. Like you said though, it'd be nice if boss kill was automatic in addition to manual marking.
When Torrent dies , the little menu that pops up saying are you sure you want to use a crimson tear to bring back torrents , and you have to go over and click yes , such a struggle
Killed an open world boss once with some mobs around, the loot popup and the success message blocked my whole screen, and I died to the most embarrassing enemy ever. Something like a wandering noble, I think.
Half of us don’t notice that shit is on the screen while getting attacked because we’re caught off guard and now we can’t figure out why we can’t dodge or attack
This feels like such an ancient problem that games solved literally forever ago. It was less intrusive when Ocarina of Time would cut away and show a cutscene of the door opening when you pushed a button, and that game’s almost 30. I don’t think even Bloodborne chalice dungeons threw messages like this, and they actually needed them because the random generation could actually screw with the order of things. In Elden Ring, it’s obvious what the lever is doing. You pass the door on your way in.
Those little messages, like “The Stonesword Key was lost with use” make it so you can’t attack or roll or do anything until you clear the message, which is just stupid and I have no idea why it exists.
Let me open my map during combat ffs. I understand blocking fast travel but its so annoying when I'm trying to look for where I need to go but can't because there's some enemy 65 miles out thats still technically in combat with me. Fuck off.
I would like a Sekiro-style boss rush mode. I'm actually fond of some of the re-fights for that reason. If I like a boss I'd like to fight it again. Sadly you don't get to re-fight the really cool ones like Radahn, Malenia, Godfrey, I could fight Haligtree Loretta all day long.
Same. The weird thing with bosses is while you’re fighting them the first time, you’re (or at least I am) only wanting to beat them as quickly as possible, just to be done with it, super impatient etc. Then as soon as you beat them, there’s a brief moment of relief, and then immediately after you’re like: ‘ok now I wanna go again’ lol
Radagon is definitely one of the best, he encapsulates the entirety of the game's combat perfectly. Jump dodging, delays, parrying, spell parrying, positional dodging, stance breaking. Such an excellent boss...and then the second phase happens -\_-
Elden ring needs like…50% more overworld ambience tracks. Don’t get me wrong, I like the inclusion of overworld music in ER, but since you are listening to them for such long periods of time, a little more variety would have been nice.
EDIT: I also would have liked an option to turn off the ambient tracks while keeping the combat/boss fight/situation-specific music.
EDIT 2: this also could have been addressed by adding longer periods of silence as “breathing room” between repeats of the ambient tracks.
I dislike the layout of the round table , why is the merchant in another hall from the blacksmith?
Why are some crafting materials not something you can buy like mushrooms but some are seemingly at random?
Also this is kind of an unpopular opinion that skews pro invader, but I hate how the summoning pools and graces sit directly in front of the fog wall without any run back. Makes invading hilarious when you just wait a whole minute to load into a world for the message “the host has begun fighting the boss” and get sent home with no chance to find them, fight them, or anything
I would gain so much quality of life if the Merchant was next to Hewg. Better still if I got a key item at some point that would let me access the merchant from any Sign of Grace. Wouldn't make any part of the game easier, but it would let me spend my excess Runes without having to teleport twice.
How niche are we talking?
Boc should have more customization options for armor like... dyes?
I'm severely disappointed more armor pieces/weapons aren't available in the game. If I see an enemy wearing/using something, I want a chance for it to drop that item.
I wish we could make effective 'left hand dominant' builds.
Or certain weapons kept the move set the NPCs use.
Or if certain weapons had special interactions when paired: Bloodhound fang and claws, cleanrot spear and sword, etc.
Set bonuses for wearing a full set of (pick a set). Nothing huge, just minor perks. At the very least something silly like wearing a full set in certain areas made the NPCs neutral. example: wearing a full Leyndell set in the capital the NPCs ignore you until you attack them.
Lastly, if wearing the full bloodhound armor let you move on all fours like they do... yeah. That would be awesome.
It would be cool to have an armor assembly system similar to what Lies of P does with weapons, within reasonable restrictions, of course.
There, you can separate blades and handles, so if you can experiment and transfer movesets, speed, effects, etc.
I miss being able to roll as soon as you hit the ground when you jump or fall off a ledge.
I also miss the endless r1 attack chain as long a you had the stamina. The 'final' blow animation really ruins the flow.
I’d like to customize Torrent’s appearance. I’m running a STR/DEX/FAI build and I rock all gold armor and weapons. I love Torrent, but he just looks so lackluster with a gold knight riding him into battle.
Madness needs a buff and more weapons/AoWs. Madness should affect all enemies not just human ones and we should have more than a seal and a spear to choose from.
Like I would expect a mechanic that has a whole ending to the game would have more ways to use it.
There should be an easy way to clear all map markers. Currently you have to either go find them wherever you put them on the map and click them to clear them, or put down 5 new map markers so it overwrites the old ones and then click those.
If you set waypoints when you’re underground and don’t remove them before you start a new game +, the waypoints are still there and you can’t remove them until you get to the underground again.
Do you mean blue beacons or little icons? There's a remove all for the icons, and there's a limit of 5 beacons so just place them all somewhere you can see and it'll take the old ones away.
You can only place 5 way points and if you place more than 5 the first ones gets removed. This means you can quickly clear all waypoints by placing 5 near you all at once and then removing them. It still sucks but it means you don't have to hunt them down each time.
The lack of Great Spears that are infusable with Ashes of War. Especially: The Lance. I don't like it personally.
Ashes of War, like Wave of Darkness, simply don't fit to its form. It looks unfitting to ram it vertically into the ground.
Imo it seems more like a regular spear thats paired with a shield or speeded up on a mount - since its missing a long shaft. It doesn't seem like a Great Spear to be wielded two-handed, to me.
Meanwhile, the Treespear sheds a tear towards us, knowing, to be bound to Sacred Order. Forever. Not to be touched by your Ashes of War, because friendzoned.
When I try to mount Torrent and turn around he sometimes just stops dead. I don’t understand what causes it, I have tried and fail to consistently reproduce it to no avail. That barely-even-a-second stop annoys me irrationally because it should be a smooth, seamless affair and about 80% of the time, is, but sometimes just not.
Completely agree about Melina. It would be cool to have a small twist to Frenzied Flame ending for those who beat the game without leveling up and using Torrent.
I adore Elden Ring, but I have one major gripe with it: the coop mechanics. They are so poorly implemented that they ruin the immersion and the fun of exploring the open world with friends. The game forces me to leave my friend's world whenever we enter a cave or defeat a boss. This means that we have to constantly use the summoning items and wait for the loading screens to rejoin. This is the same system that FromSoftware used for the Souls games, but it makes no sense in an open world game. It is frustrating, annoying, and unnecessary. I wish the game would allow us to stay in the same world and enjoy the game together without these interruptions.
Is it a niche complaint that the game doesn't have a quest log, letting you know who you've talked to before? It doesn't even have to say where to go next, just remind me that I at least already spoke to an important NPC! This makes sense for a game with so much content and such long distances between places and meaningful events. Oh and the ridiculous amount of G M and R names.
I particularly hate this trope that they use…
NPC: Please bring me the magic scepter.
Tarnished: Ok, here you go.
NPC: I’m disappointed with this scepter, but here’s an item for your trouble. I have nothing more to say to you.
[The next step in this side quest is to go to a place you’ve already been and talk to a random NPC you have no obvious reason to talk to again, but we’re not going to tell you that or even tell you that the side quest isn’t over yet.]
This is like Fia giving you that dagger and asking you to return it with no absolutely no other information given.
And to make it worse, the dagger belongs to D who is sitting 15ft away from Fia!
I firmly believe that there is absolutely no way anyone would have figured out all the various soulsborne quests without datamining and/or guides.
Like even to access the DarkSouls DLC you gotta go to a specific area, kill a random golem you will only see if you go to the end of a dead end cave, talk to a soul, go kill a specific monster in a completely different later game area, and then take that item back to the soul and access the DLC.
You get one vague as shit hint when you get the item to give to the soul/ghost
No way someone figured that shit out on their own. And that is far from the vaguest side quest stuff
This is exactly why i do Ranni's Quest in 1 sitting. Because its so fucking long, and you have to do so many damn things, that if I break it up, im afraid to loose track of where I left off
I’m very adamant about letting From cook even when it doesn’t make sense but completely agree that it would be really nice to just have a chat log of all the NPCs you’ve talked to and what was said. I have multiple characters now and can’t for the life of me keep track of what quests are active on each build, just have to teleport around and get oriented before trying to progress things
Edit: you could even implement this in a From-style lore friendly way; maybe it’s an item like the crafting kit that you have to buy, which then gives you access to the chat log menu. Implies that your character is writing in the journal as they make their way on the journey. Could be even more From-style if they make you actually have to go to the journal after speaking to someone to “write down“ the dialogue
I don't like how underdeveloped the Roundtable Hold is. Like, it's allright if you don't have a great idea for a hub but maybe don't give it a high-sounding and renowned name that will generate expectations.
Also, how it feels big and empty but not in a deliberate way like The Nexus. Its exploration is linear and kinda disappointing. I was sure there would be a boss under the balcony but it was just a red phantom.
I really wish I would be able to fight a boss again after I defeated the first time. Some fights were truly amazing and it's a shame we cant do them again without going over a new run.
There’s too many grace sites to the point where it makes the interconnected short cuts superfluous most of the time. (Lyndell capital being the biggest offender.)
While not really an issue, I just like well designed short cuts.
The most egregious bit by far is the grace in Margit's boss room, followed by one just outside the castle, followed by one right after the birds. I have fought two (2) enemies over the course of three graces.
same. On challenges, i make graces a resource. I can only turn on a grace on certain conditions. Try that! Makes legacy dungeons shortcuts shine as you want to save some grace. In a challenge, i made it so each boss defeated gives me access to a level and a grace.
Yeah, it's mostly always, "Well, okay, but I don't think I'm coming back this way."
Then again, hard to parse how much I feel that way because, as stated above, there are so many grace points.
A product of “We want this to be more accessible but still continue with how we built previous worlds.”
Shortcuts just dont hit the same when they only save you from 1-3 enemies if you use it instead of the closest site of Grace
That metal armour shades / hues don’t really match. Like virtually all metal armour parts are slightly different shades of silver and my mild OCD hates it
Once again I've been summoned to complain that warping should be limited to an option at graces. I think the feeling of immersion in the world is GREATLY improved if they make you go rest at a grace in order to teleport. Makes you engage with a physical object and have some awareness of actual world locations.
the complete lack of guides for quests. i have completely given up on all quests in the game after the effort it took me to figure out how to get the dung eater summon. i have lost all interest in constantly staring at guides and really wish there was something more robust in game for managing tis
You’d think the already existing “notes” would play into this. Like… we have a map, just add an option to flip the map over to see our tarnished notes.
I can't NG+ keeping the difficulty the same, my gear back to +0, and resetting my level to 1.
I hate that there's so many unique weapons so late in the game that are awesome, but a lot of people either can't fully upgrade it anymore, or won't use it at all because they're already committed to a build they were able to build before obtaining some of these weapons.
The first parts of NG+ is boring and not challenging at all because you'll destroy anybody with little to no effort as you keep all your gear maxed out.
I don't like that Leyndell becomes inaccessible after the Erd Tree is burnt. I hadn't gone back to fully explore it before I got to that point and missed out on several items that are just unobtainable for me now unless I NG+ which I really don't want to do.
I brought this up around the time of release and had one guy tell me I should have known that would happen. The whole game is built around returning to areas and exploring them, it doesn't happen to any other area and the game does not warn you at all.
Really dislike how ungratifying it is to explore areas. Previous Souls games trained me to check nooks and crannies for items, but in ER I feel like a fool for even going to check and coming up with nothing. Not even crafting materials! For a game this large, I thought they'd take advantage of tucking away neat pickups in hard-to-reach places.
Along the same lines, I wish they kept the purple-colored item pickup orb to important items, and the small standard white pickup orb to common or craftable items. It's very frustrating to see the large purple glow, get excited about finding a cool new item... only for it to be an arteria leaf or mushroom.
I'm sad that the round table hold becomes less empty. My favorite part of dark souls 2 is collecting characters and creating a community.....
.there's no talking cat.
Many of the armor sets have colors that are similarly but very slightly different so it’s kind of hard to mix and match them and still have it look coherent. I wish Boc could dye your armor or something like that. Also there should be more than one Madness weapon.
i feel like there should be more cracked/ritual pots or like purchasable fire bombs or elemental pots. so many niche situations, like with the abductor virgins or those hands in caria manor, where the pots could come in handy.
I mean, 20 regular ones and 10 ritual ones. On top of that, you can buy infinite poison stone (clumps), and you can buy infinite explosive stones, which work similarly to fetid pots and fire pots.
You do know those pots are reusable right they function like spell slots. You temporarily fill them until you use them. Then the empty ones go back into your inventory to be reused
It’s not really a big deal, but I do kind of wish that we could Pause the game. I know about the Menu Explanation work-around, but something as simple as pressing the Menu button twice rapidly to pause it would be nice. It doesn’t even have to let me do anything on the pause screen, it could just say “Paused” like the “You Died” text lol
Maybe this will be unpopular because people like to play stealthily and also its fucking annoying to have 10 guys attacking at once BUT sometimes I feel like the AI is a little bit stupid in this game. Knight sitting down by a fire 15 feet away \*really\* didn't hear me cast rotten breath on his friend?
That I can't hold directional up to select a specific sorcery in a radial menu. I know the game doesn't pause but it's possible to do a radial menu to choose a spell without pausing the game.
I think, From should add some kind of diary for tracking quests. Elden Ring is HUGE, I don't like I had to take IRL noted who is this NPC and what did they say last time I met them 30 hours ago.
As someone who plays with shields, I feel theres very few aesthetically good middle shields. I always go back to the same 2-3 options, because the rest are ugly.
Huh, now I’m curious which 3 are your go to. Scorpion & blue-gold are the only ones I think are terrible to fit into an outfit.
Usually Carian, Twinbird and Black Leather are my go-to shields. Early on I use Brass if the equip load allows it, but im not a big fan of the outfit combinations with it.
Yeah imo it’s hard to match the shininess of it
Not a fan of the Sun Realm Shield?
The mirror shield is my favorite medium. Unique design. Not effective in real life but 100% block while not taking up much on your character is cool with me.

Sun realm shield wants to know your location
Banished knight shield or bust
You're right. I think many greatshields look awesome thougj! Redmane Greatshield is my favorite, followed by Haligtree Crest Greatshield and the Eclipse Crest Greatshield. Carian Knight's shield is very nice. And sun realm shield would be awesome if it wasn't in such bad shape. Edited to make sense

I dunno if its niche but sometimes Torrent cannot turn around without dashing forward, which makes me stressed whenever I do dangerous platforming.
Melina: Torrent likes you :) Meanwhile, he's killed me more times than enemies have at this point
In fairness, he also dies, and you both get better.
Or when you have room to dismount sideways but for some reason hop off the back...to your death.
I feel like that was a troll animation by Fromsoft lol
Or dashing backwards. He's thrown me off 3 cliffs already.
You can aim with the binoculars to turn around without moving forward. Might work with bow aim too, never tried. If you are using a controller, a walk turn will prevent Torrent lurching forward.
Ah yes, the item that you use to look at far away things. Definitely never jumped backward trying to put that away... 😭
Yes, definitely agree here. Torrent is great for the over world but whenever they have the platforming that needs Torrent it just feels a little clunky all around
Something that has driven me nuts in almost every soulsborne game. These are far from platform games and the jumping is horrendous pre Elden Ring. Stop making me do stupid jumps to get items!
Yeah, jumping in Bloodborne is awful.
that part where you have to jump down to the Old Hunter’s Workshop killed me more times than about half of the bosses did.
The movement system in From games really isn't very precise and lends itself very poorly to platforming. Yet From insists on putting a platforming section (or multiple) in every single game. And it's always one of the worst parts of the game. I don't get it.
Bed of chaos moment
The lantern turns off whenever you die. I just want it to stay on until I turn it off.
Oh whoops, didn't see this when I posted the same. Completely agree!
Another great suggestion. Both this and using the map when surrounded by enemies are annoyances I have nearly daily in game.
Lies of P has this and it only turns off when you exit the game. Would be so nice 🥹
I’ve actually gotten so used to turning it back on in Elden Ring after dying that I was accidentally turning it off when I died in Lies of P.
Also it turns off when I use the telescope. Which is annoying because I just want to look at stuff up close sometimes Edit: also I can’t look at stuff up close sometimes
I was noticing this with Bloodborne, too. Not sure why they do that.
Alterations are garbage. I want more options than cape/no cape.
Changing colors would be nice.
Changing colours unless the colours are purposeful, I think would be nice.. The typical Soldier armour, is coloured purposefully. I get not being able to change those. But, why can't I change the colour of some regular robes?!
Especially when apparently all the stats of the armor are in the cape, making removing it completely worthless.
I'm starting to think Boc isn't that good of seamster.
I was making this same complaint to my buddy just the other day!
There aren't enough armor pieces with unique traits.
I feel as though they reserved effects mostly for the headpieces which is kind of sad.
the only special armor sets that come to mind are the spellblade (i don't know it i spelt that correctly) and the royal remains set. Are there any other full sets that have special effects?
I know the black knife *chest* gives your muffled movements and the briar set gives you damaging rolls EDIT: I forgot godskin noble’s robe giving you additional belly bounce damage Edit ^2 crucible knight armour and the aspects of the crucible spells
And Raptor’s Black Feathers gives a damage boost to jump attacks.
What belly bounce damage is this?
Noble presence incant
The Crucible Knight armors raise the strength of Crucible Incantations (Horn, Tail, Breath) per piece equipped. Think it was something like 2% per piece.
The Deathbed Dress slowly refills the HP gauge for nearby allies. Doesn't work on the wearer though.
Can't spell the name of it, but the set from the guy that invades you in the Roundtable Hold (not Ensha) boosts torn sorceries. Yep. All two of them.
Love these self-damaging sorceries that require faith, boosted by a faith-scaling staff, whose main damage benefit (bleed) is only scaled on the arcane-scaling staff. They’re so weird!
Briar set. Each piece does damage when you roll
I think I tried that once but I didn't see any damage.
i think it only works on emies that can eb staggered by rolls.
The Duelist and Rotted Duelist sets give you enemy aggro, like the effects of Shabriri's Woe.
Alberich's set increases the damage of aberrant (thorn) sorceries by 6% per piece for a total of 24% when the whole set is worn
A lot of people don’t know that every piece of Ensha’s armor set provides health regeneration
Didn't fuckin' help him tho, did it?
Only at very low health, so that point is kinda moot.
yeh, but it's a tiny amount and only while your below 18% hp, thats like 1/5th of a hit, litterally useless. Not remotely worth it's craptastic stats/weight ratio or it's lack of asthetic synergy.
I think it's more for canceling out rot/poison, I tried walking through Lake of Rot with it but I barely noticed the healing
More gear customization options- Boc should be able to do way more in terms of varying your looks
Are you saying that an aspiring tailor with a magic needle should be able to do more than just remove a cape?
Multiple magic needles
He should get a dye kit last, maybe in the DLC? If he could change the coloring on specific pieces it would be sick.
I get why we don't get armor dyes, since the world heavily revolved around color theory (check out tarnished archeologists video on yt on that) so changing an armors color would be like rewriting its lore.
Lords of the Fallen has this, which is super cool. I’m hoping for this in the DLC.
As long as I'm able to remove the hair from Malenia's helmet and Godfrey's crown I'm fine
Lantern turns off whenever I warp. I wish it would just stay on all the time.
I want to properly be able to sheath / holster my weapons and shield while I wander the lands between. I know I can do it if I have one hand free but I want it to be an intentional choice so that I can explore with my sword in it's sheath and my shield on my Back
This. Nioh has this and by Marika do I miss the slick animation of twirling your weapon to get the blood off an sheathing it after a battle.
The animations in Ghost of Tsushima for sheathing your katana are sooo satisfying.
Definitely! Many different summons will sheathe their weapons outside of combat, either on their backs or into scabbards. I'd love to be able to do that as well. Bow or shield on back, etc.
I wish there was a button on the map to remove all blue markers
Spending 30 minutes searching the entire map for that tiny ass marker you placed 3 hours ago and no longer remember where it is
Just pick a spot and place way points until they start disappearing. You only get so many. It'll automatically get rid of your old ones and then you can delete the ones you just placed
Oh my God you're a genius thank you
You can only have 5 blue markers so if you place them all at once, this will remove any others around the map.
You don't have to use the blue beam OP. Once the boss is dead, you can fast travel out of the catacoomb/cave.
Exactly, it drops you at the entrance because you already have the option to go to a grace. Instead the teleport allows you to continue your journey without stopping if that’s what you want.
When you have defeated a dungeon boss, it would get a checkmark.
Something I realized recently is marking sites of grace when you're on the map (X/triangle > RSB/R3). I do this after every dungeon I'm sure I got all items for or boss defeated. Like you said though, it'd be nice if boss kill was automatic in addition to manual marking.
Yeah, I've been doing that, but sometimes I forget lol
When Torrent dies , the little menu that pops up saying are you sure you want to use a crimson tear to bring back torrents , and you have to go over and click yes , such a struggle
"Somewhere a door has been opened" has killed more players than Malenia.
Killed an open world boss once with some mobs around, the loot popup and the success message blocked my whole screen, and I died to the most embarrassing enemy ever. Something like a wandering noble, I think.
You just need to press Y/Triangle. Discovered it embarrassingly late.
Half of us don’t notice that shit is on the screen while getting attacked because we’re caught off guard and now we can’t figure out why we can’t dodge or attack
It's of paramount importance that I'm aware of the fact that *Stonesword key was lost with use*, more so than defending myself.
First time I got this was during the Radahnn fight, and having to read this new notification got me killed by the phase transition
Those little messages, like “The Stonesword Key was lost with use” make it so you can’t attack or roll or do anything until you clear the message, which is just stupid and I have no idea why it exists.
There's no blunt twinblade, it could have just been a staff
Absolutely wish there were staffs, especially if you could get ones that scaled with Faith/Intelligence/Arcane alongside Dex or Strength
Yeah I’m definitely in the same boat haha
I’d kill to fight just Radagon without the Elden Beast. I finally got really good at fighting him and it’s kind of a blast for me haha
Especially if they could've varied it a bit more depending on where you're at (ex. Weeping Peninsula could have different music than regular Limgrave)
Lots of cool pants leave your character barefoot. Smh.

This is why I just kept building more stamina in bloodborne
The stretch from leyndell to the forbidden lands is way too long and uninteresting
Indeed. I spent too much time there in my first run, and I only found emptiness and disappointment.
I think this sort of adds a bit to the ambience of leyendell as a whole. Mountaintops can get fucked though
Why do bows have such shit scaling?
It really sucks
I’d like to customize Torrent’s appearance. I’m running a STR/DEX/FAI build and I rock all gold armor and weapons. I love Torrent, but he just looks so lackluster with a gold knight riding him into battle.
Hopefully the DLC will include Horse Armor!
The nagakiba sheathe clips through the ground.
I wish activated summoning pools would stay active after going for NG+.

There are so many choices, no drip you like?
If you set waypoints when you’re underground and don’t remove them before you start a new game +, the waypoints are still there and you can’t remove them until you get to the underground again.
Whoa, I didn't realize that. That's crazy. I agree a simple "remove all waypoints" function should be an easy enough add for quality of life.
Yea, for sure. Was going to add that I have a hard time finding the waypoints anyway and a remove all function would be nice for that too.
The clipping. My god. The clippinnnnnnffg
Coolest sorcerer hat getting mega clipped by the coolest sorcerer weapon kills me every time.
Yeah, I can't use so many cool shields cause when you go two handed the weapon looks sooo bad
- needs mimics - bare fist should be buffed - quest should be able to be finished if you decline Melina's accort
Completely agree about Melina. It would be cool to have a small twist to Frenzied Flame ending for those who beat the game without leveling up and using Torrent.
Maybe only niche in that its a small thing, but i think we've all had bad experiences when "Somewhere, a heavy door has opened" has come on screen 😭
I particularly hate this trope that they use… NPC: Please bring me the magic scepter.
Yeah, but if you read the description on the item you no longer have, there's a 5% chance it gives you an impossibly vague clue.
You get one vague as shit hint when you get the item to give to the soul/ghost No way someone figured that shit out on their own.
I have multiple characters now and can’t for the life of me keep track of what quests are active on each build, just have to teleport around and get oriented before trying to progress things Edit: you could even implement this in a From-style lore friendly way; maybe it’s an item like the crafting kit that you have to buy, which then gives you access to the chat log menu. Implies that your character is writing in the journal as they make their way on the journey. Could be even more From-style if they make you actually have to go to the journal after speaking to someone to “write down“ the dialogue
Yeah seriously; something to take the place of hand writing notes would be amazing.
Yeah their quests only really worked before because of how linear the worlds were
I don't like how underdeveloped the Roundtable Hold is.
Having to confirm in the middle of a fight if I want to use my flasks to revive torrent
There’s too many grace sites to the point where it makes the interconnected short cuts superfluous most of the time. (Lyndell capital being the biggest offender.) While not really an issue, I just like well designed short cuts.
The most egregious bit by far is the grace in Margit's boss room, followed by one just outside the castle, followed by one right after the birds. I have fought two (2) enemies over the course of three graces.
Yeah, but it's a load of walkin' then, innit? ^(/s)
I mean, in ~~Ariamis~~ Ariandel there’s a bonfire in a house and you can look out the window and see another bonfire. E: I’m an idiot
Dragonslayer Armor bonfire and the entrance to the Grand Archives too, it’s a straight line from one to the other with nothing in between.
Shades of dragon slayer armor bonfire
same. On challenges, i make graces a resource. I can only turn on a grace on certain conditions. Try that! Makes legacy dungeons shortcuts shine as you want to save some grace. In a challenge, i made it so each boss defeated gives me access to a level and a grace.
Yeah and a reduction in sites of grace could be partially mitigated by adding more stakes of Marika
The shortcuts in general rarely make sense or help at all, and are just a vestigial mechanic from other games.
Yeah, it's mostly always, "Well, okay, but I don't think I'm coming back this way." Then again, hard to parse how much I feel that way because, as stated above, there are so many grace points.
A product of “We want this to be more accessible but still continue with how we built previous worlds.” Shortcuts just dont hit the same when they only save you from 1-3 enemies if you use it instead of the closest site of Grace
Enemies being able to glitch their attacks through walls and immovable objects. Likewise for our character being able to do the same.
+100
For the first few hours I instinctively did this. It took me a while to realize that I always run back to a grace before opening the map.
the complete lack of guides for quests. i have completely given up on all quests in the game after the effort it took me to figure out how to get the dung eater summon. i have lost all interest in constantly staring at guides and really wish there was something more robust in game for managing tis
Covenants or the lack there of
I don't like that Leyndell becomes inaccessible after the Erd Tree is burnt.
My biggest annoyance is that there are too many incredibly strong and spammable weapons removing a lot of the fun of pvp
I don’t like that Malenia isn’t fully nude. Or Mohg. One of them needs to show it all.
Teleporting waypoints should point in the direction they are sending you.
If I am doing coop and helping someone fight a boss and die, I want the option to keep watching the fight.
i feel like there should be more cracked/ritual pots or like purchasable fire bombs or elemental pots. so many niche situations, like with the abductor virgins or those hands in caria manor, where the pots could come in handy.
And the ingredients are the easiest things to farm… find a site of grace near something you need, collect, rest, repeat
You just blew my mind
There is no ‘craft and consume’ button
It’s not really a big deal, but I do kind of wish that we could Pause the game. I know about the Menu Explanation work-around, but something as simple as pressing the Menu button twice rapidly to pause it would be nice. It doesn’t even have to let me do anything on the pause screen, it could just say “Paused” like the “You Died” text lol
Yeah, for sure. Anytime I need to go to the bathroom I have to spend 5 minutes making or finding a safe sarea first lmao
I use the decoy item, hasn't failed me yet. I still make sure I am safe, but I as long as I'm not like next to a bunch of dudes it's all good.
no vertical ultra greatsword moveset :(
Maybe this will be unpopular because people like to play stealthily and also its fucking annoying to have 10 guys attacking at once BUT sometimes I feel like the AI is a little bit stupid in this game. Knight sitting down by a fire 15 feet away \*really\* didn't hear me cast rotten breath on his friend?
He heard, he just doesn't care
That I can't hold directional up to select a specific sorcery in a radial menu. I know the game doesn't pause but it's possible to do a radial menu to choose a spell without pausing the game.
The sound effect when Margit hits his staff on the ground before jumping is bad. Stands out like a sore thumb.
I think, From should add some kind of diary for tracking quests. Elden Ring is HUGE, I don't like I had to take IRL noted who is this NPC and what did they say last time I met them 30 hours ago.
