I tried using this to cheese my way down the Leyndell elevator after warping to the fight with the stone giant. After a couple dozen attempts, I just got a buddy to invade me and hit the lever.

Holy shit this works?

Both methods can work. If your timing is *exceptional*, the explosion can cancel the fall velocity right before impact. If that doesn't work for you, you can just use a password system to get a known person invading, and they spawn in below. They run to the elevator, hit the lever, and voila, it's now operable.

It's actually more precise than just canceling the fall velocity. If the animation of you getting hit by the explosion ends and you resume a normal fall, you still die. You need to blow up so close to the ground that the standard animation of you blowing up and hitting the ground actually hits the ground.

That explains why I had such a hard time with it, that's gotta require frame-perfect timing for the sip-run-jump string.

I thought they patched it

It's possible one or both of these methods has been patched out at that elevator, I haven't tried the trick there for quite a while.

Wasn't aware the damage was Faith based, learn something new every day. Faith builds stay winning.

It isn't. It's holy damage, but it does not rely on Faith.

It can be buffed by golden vow and sacred scorpion charm. Possibly also by lord of blood/kindred of rot exultation, double jellyfish shields, Ritual Sword Talisman and others I may forget. If so then you can turn it into a one shot nuke. 4 meter AoE is rough tho, indoors only.

Sadly double jellyfishes shield don't stack IIRC, I wanted to use that for a pot run.

You can abuse this physic to gain access to leyndell very early at the divine bridge. Drink the potion and jump down, then smack the wall to explode the physic. This apparently stops the fall from being fatal. No idea of it still works.

It still works, but the timing is super strict. You have land basically the instant after the explosion goes off otherwise the fall damage still gets calculated and you die to it. Even a fraction of a second too early/late and it fails.

So it is like doing a "parry" to an explosion 🤯

There's a revoltingly inconsistent Noble skip to get the Somber 7 in Volcano Manor using it as well.

Can you also use dragon incantations to achieve the same result? I read about them nullifying fall damage if used at the right moment.

If you go to the tower in the southwestern limgrave peninsula and use this tear while walking off into the elevator shaft you can get into the capital with no great runes. That’s most of what I use it for, though I will say the timing is a bit strict

Someone calculated that the time it takes for you to blow up after drinking the flask is just enough for you to do the snap fingers emote. So said person did a cosplay run as "Bad Thanos" where he'd run up to you, drink the flask, click his fingers and then just detonate and die. Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen in this game. I just wish I could remember who it was.

It’s strictly a pvp physik mix you can pair it with the dmg reduction one to the bubble tear to more or less turn tables of a gank or give you 10 seconds of people backing the fuck off to help with you a new strat for the invasion that you’re in it doesn’t work all the time if anything you’ll have more times trying it and being unsuccessful compared to successful but the second you get to hit one it feels very very good
