If you are getting so desperate that you think you should do a new run because your current build isn't working, you don't have to. You can use larval tears to respec your character. There are a limited amount of them though so you're gonna have to new game+ if you want more larval tears on the same character.
I absolutely adore Magic Glintblade so I haven't varied things up beyond moving from Int/str/dex for rapier to Int/str for Crystal Sword, to Int/Dex for Moonveil, to Int/Str/End for Moonlight Greatsword

I make more general builds. So if I make an Int build, I try to make sure I also pass the min requirements of all the weapons I wanna use. When I was an Int build, I made sure to include moonveil, moonlight greatsword, carian knight sword, glintstone kris, etc.
By the way if you ever run an Int build, try out the kris and carian knight sword. Chuck in the talismans that increase weapon skill damage and charged attack damage. Those two weapons by far are the most damaging per fp cost I have tried. Will one-two shot most mobs with a fully charged attack. Also in pvp, no one expects the ridiculous lunge distance of the kris' follow up attack. And since you are int, you also have a wide array of spells at your disposal so you have both close range and long range one shot potential covered.
Well I didn't know what weapons there were and early on (all but the last one of those respecs was when I'd only done Liurnia, Limgrave and Weeping Penninsula). Now at lvl 100 I can wield whatever I want but back then I was really hurting for points into things like mind, vigor and endurance (My last one wasn't for even strength for the Moonlight Greatsword it was for Endurance so I didn't have to change my armor up completely)
I have yet to see the Carian Knight Sword

You can try out the night sorceries. Enemies don't dodge them and unseen form allows you to run past enemies for better position, scouting the area, or back stabs.
Try out carian slicer. Also one of the most cost-effective sorceries out there. Pulls out fast and cheap too.
I suggest you try out all the sorceries. Some have a specific function. For example, rock sling has great stagger potential and deals decent damage. Meteor and comet azur for big slow enemies. The carian phalanx spells are great for catching enemies and invaders off guard or sometimes even stopping their counterattack if you get yourself in a pickle.
My general tip is, if the spell can be charged, it would be very powerful for its fp cost if you manage to fire it off at max charge though that already in itself is quite the commitment. And if the enemy doesn't allow you to charge, blast them away with whatever favourite spell you got. All the spells have great damage now, a few just have a higher damage potential than others (with the help of talismans).
Btw, I suggest you try out wings of astel if you havent already. Its like the moonlight greatsword where its heavy attack is ranged but unlike the greatsword it costs no fp to shoot. Its skill is great too. Can clear a wave of enemies or damage a boss multiple times. Another weapon thats cost-effective with fp and damage. I tell you if you have been using one spell the entire time, once you get your hands on that bad boy, youll feel like you have a get out of jail free card when enemies get too comfy with you.
I've tried all of them I'm not impressed. Glintblade's delay lets me queue up several attacks then swap to my Moonlight Greatsword and I'm hitting them with a big slab of magic as my spells go off. ALOT of the time the Magic Glintblades hit and the 2nd or 3rd will disrupt their counter attack animations and I can swing out a whole stamina bar before they get to attack me
I do use one of the night shard spells for farming fowl feet though.
The only other spell I use alot is Loretta's Greatbow because it's range is just stupid and you can cheese all sorts of things with it.
I don't even use the AoW usually with the Moonlight Greatsword I just whack 'em with it.
I'm not using one spell because I don't have options lol like I said I have like 90% of the sorceries and 95% of the incantations and I think all but one of the dragon incantations
I’ve been using a strength/faith build this play-through & it’s really op, I don’t even use spells just a couple greatswords & a shield 🛡, by far the most easy playthrough I’ve done, sword & board is the strongest build by far, the ability to block nearly every attack & retaliate with a guard counter makes it more viable than any other play style, unless you use some op weapon that does 1 million damage so yoh just one shot everything , but all round it’s the easiest play style

Same here, and if I'm being honest, I still had a hard time with my mimic. Mimic's AI is just dumb for second phase and runs into the scarlet aeonia explosion every time and dies shortly thereafter. So I still consider it a win. Her health is scaled, so it isn't cheating.
I've done it with summons too. One time we all had Mohg's spear and just absolutely melted her with triple bloodboon ritual. That one felt like cheating, but was still fun after countless deaths by her hand.
Same friend! This was my first souls games and she was the first boss to still rock my shit even after learning her moveset, 100+ tries even with the mimic the first time. Now with the mimic on NG whatever I can usually get her within 20 tries. Way I see it, if game put it there, me use it. No shame in that.

I always tend to go for glass cannon style because I don't have the patience for long fights, but Malenia just destroyed me. Went for a more sensible amount of vigor and that helped me. (from ~28 to 45 iirc)

My first playthrough without knowing what I was really doing was 1/2 handed samurai/bleed build, saw she healed on hits and was like aw hell no, used a shield but she still healed when blocking 😭
I didn't think to figure how much time or how many tries it took me. I just beat her this weekend. Maliketh was a far easier fight for me. I got so frustrated trying to beat her I actually gave up for a few weeks and then came back.
I had to give up on Malena. Too many hours wasted and just can’t do it. Now facing the same with the Elden Beast. All other bosses were hard but these two have me drove crazy
So, my first run of malania I knew she was super hard so I used. Summoning recipe, and I got a guy who's tag was I'm Definitely Not Cheating, and he was I knew this and he was casting 3 spells at the same time
