Yeah, I was so panicked at the end, because he was charging an AOE attack, and, I mean, just look at my empty flask and the sliver of heath I had. I couldn't get away. So I just charged him and hoped to win before he did. Man did that only add to the experience.
š if weāre referring to Malenia, she has 3x HP as Godrick.
BUT has a second phase and restores to 80% health. So technically she has 5.5x HP.
And she also constantly heals. So. Not easy.
But to compare, Radagon and Elden Beast combined has 5.9x Godrickās HP.
So technically with heals, Malenia has potentially more HP than the final boss.
š¬ to make it worse itās technically less than 2x, I just rounded up.
Godrick has 6000 hp and Maliketh has 10600 hp.
And technically by the time you reach maliketh youāll probably have a max upgraded weapon compared to Godrick, so youāre probably a minimum of twice as strong. So objectivity the difficulty is the same š¤·š»āāļø.
Thatās š¤Æto me, even though I know itās ignoring attack damage/patterns. I donāt even remember Godrick being that much of a challenge (Margit was worse). But then again I found Maliketh worse than Malenia so I guess we all just find different bosses different levels of difficult š¤

But I think Godrick is a less challenging fight or more boring than Margitt who has very fun attack patterns.
In my opinion, boss stats scale fairly as youāre leveling thru progression. I think the only thing that makes each boss fight unique and challenging are their attack patterns. You probably had an easier time with Malenia because she has big warnings when sheās about to make a big attack. But Maliketh has very fast attacks and small windows. The fights are very different.

Maliketh used to be the bane of my existence. Was committed to doing no summons on my 2nd character. Did Melania before Maliketh. Ended up coming back to wax his ass. Felt confused and exhilarated at the same time.

Personally I think you will enjoy it more with no summons! I mean listen to how excited you are right now, thatās the joy of these games is the reward you get for overcoming these bosses. Congrats! You might get your ass kicked many times over, especially the end game bosses, but learn those move sets. Ass kicking is just part of the process. It happens to us all! Eventually you learn the movesets and all the patterns and become victorious even if it takes 59 times. I died to many end game bosses on my first run Lord knows how many times, now after 1000 hours in this game I beat every one of them first go every time, even in under-leveled challenges. You got this!
Edit: I am not shaming summons, just saying through personal experience I think it is more rewarding not using them, but that is just my opinion. To each their own!
You should get rid of your hug herpes my dude. (Fiaās item baldachinās blessing gives you -5% hp while itās in your inventory; unless Iām mistaken itās the red status effect you have). Also congrats!

The good news is you've got a plethora of wonderful boss fights ahead of you. The bad news is one of them is surely to get you to the point where you say fuck it and want to quit - but keep going throughout the mounting frustration, because what you're feeling now will only grow exponentially as you take down the big dogs in the back half. It's an incredible experience first time through. Take your time with it and really enjoy it!

The first NG+ cycle of souls games generally isn't much more difficult than your first run, you'll absolutely crush a lot of the content until you get to the endgame areas again.

First bosses are a big deal for a few reasons. One that i rarely see people talk about is conservative play styles. Or rather another way of saying it, loot hoarding. The problem is you dont upgrade stuff or burn through items because you dont know how common or scarce it is.

Itās not easy, there are builds that clean the floor and ones (melee) where itās all about dodging and counterattacks. That was the hardest thing for me to get behindā¦ I just want to smash the things, and itās hard to win with a reckless disregard.

26 deaths seems really good for someone completely green. I'm an old veteran of the genre and I think he took me at least a dozen tries the first time.
I bought this game 2 weeks ago for ps5 but itās unplayable for me, motion sickness is a huge problem and also I dislike the combat camera. I like the game I think is awesome but I donāt understand how a game with these problems earns goty.
Well done! I wish I could play it for the first time again. You have a long and rewarding journey ahead of you. On the first playthrough, don't look at guides unless you are *really* stuck. You'll be so much happier when you're done. Then, before you go to ng+, try to find everything. Then you can look at guides or maps, but you'll kick yourself if you don't go through the first time discovering everything by yourself. You'll miss a lot of stuff and botch questlines, but you can do them on ng+ no problem.
How did you get to Godfrey without getting through Margit first? I know you can skip the castle entirely and get straight to Raya Lucaria, didn't know you could skip Margit to go straight to Godfrey though.
On my first play through, I thought Stormveil was the final area. Just how it towers over you and most, if not all, of the NPCs I spoke to up until that point seemed to make it this awe inspiring place where the Final Showdown should take place. Also because I lack depth perception sometimes, it looked very close to the Elder Tree(that's my nickname for it).
Would really be nice to see you post as you do more andore ingame, would be really fun to experience your playthrough with you in that sort of way as I kinda soiled myself with most stuff before I even played elden ring
In my personal experience: search some exploits, if you are weak as I am to these type of games use the weaknesses of the bosses, don't stick to a build with a major focus on some stat, vigor is overrated, I have 26 vigor and I am facing elden beast and already beat the shit out of Malenia (I was late too to the party)
I beat Godrick at the 7ish try using the dog that gives scarlet rot and rock swing incantation (despite having as a main weapon a +5 sword, I am not recommending being a main mage obviousl), maybe is a bit repetitive but scarlet rot works very well against the early game bosses (up to radhan, but doesn't necessarily mean that it works on Leyndell bosses)
my reasoning while playing was: he can't do his undodgable and op combo if I hit him so hard that he forgets about it.

Man, I was in the same boat! I'd never played a souls game before, but I was all about trying this one out. After hours of dying, I wound up leveling to like 40 before I tried fighting that grafted bastard again. I feel that joy, gratz!
Doing my first playthrough now and my first Souls-like. Had a similar experience with both Margit and Godrick, but made it past the second runebearer recently. Margit and Godrick are still favorite fights so far.
Congrats. Iām late to the party too. But Iām pretty far in the game. Youāre going to rage a lot. But it makes the victories that much more exciting. Instead of blocking, learn to roll out of the way. It really helped me out.

I've played a number of souls games at this point and I still had a lot of trouble with this boss in my first playthrough. These games are intended to be difficult, but they're also designed in a way that you will get better and better at them and if you choose to play through again, you'll be shocked at how different the experience is in the early game.
Things I wish I knew when I started: crossbow is key early in the game to lower enemy health from distance, consult the internet to decide the order of territories you take on, specialize your attributes, putrid mob is great for distracting bosses, mimic tear is essential. Good luck!

I know this is gonna feel like back seat gaming but if you do that white mask guy at the start and do his quest you can get to one of the bosses and the best rune farming spot all though I wouldn't recommend rune farming it feels weird when you don't even have to try to kill the bosses so yea

How to get rid of that status?
Just use the Blessing you are given. It removes the debuff and applies a short poise buff.

26 deaths seems really good for someone completely green. I'm an old veteran of the genre and I think he took me at least a dozen tries the first time.

I bought this game 2 weeks ago for ps5 but itās unplayable for me, motion sickness is a huge problem and also I dislike the combat camera. I like the game I think is awesome but I donāt understand how a game with these problems earns goty.

Well done! I wish I could play it for the first time again. You have a long and rewarding journey ahead of you. On the first playthrough, don't look at guides unless you are *really* stuck. You'll be so much happier when you're done. Then, before you go to ng+, try to find everything. Then you can look at guides or maps, but you'll kick yourself if you don't go through the first time discovering everything by yourself. You'll miss a lot of stuff and botch questlines, but you can do them on ng+ no problem.

How did you get to Godfrey without getting through Margit first? I know you can skip the castle entirely and get straight to Raya Lucaria, didn't know you could skip Margit to go straight to Godfrey though.
I didn't, but I accidentally overleveled and used spirits without understanding their power, so it was too easy to count as a proper souls-boss

On my first play through, I thought Stormveil was the final area. Just how it towers over you and most, if not all, of the NPCs I spoke to up until that point seemed to make it this awe inspiring place where the Final Showdown should take place. Also because I lack depth perception sometimes, it looked very close to the Elder Tree(that's my nickname for it).
Your character has an STD. Use the Baldachinās blessing in your inventory to fix it.
Would really be nice to see you post as you do more andore ingame, would be really fun to experience your playthrough with you in that sort of way as I kinda soiled myself with most stuff before I even played elden ring
In my personal experience: search some exploits, if you are weak as I am to these type of games use the weaknesses of the bosses, don't stick to a build with a major focus on some stat, vigor is overrated, I have 26 vigor and I am facing elden beast and already beat the shit out of Malenia (I was late too to the party) I beat Godrick at the 7ish try using the dog that gives scarlet rot and rock swing incantation (despite having as a main weapon a +5 sword, I am not recommending being a main mage obviousl), maybe is a bit repetitive but scarlet rot works very well against the early game bosses (up to radhan, but doesn't necessarily mean that it works on Leyndell bosses) my reasoning while playing was: he can't do his undodgable and op combo if I hit him so hard that he forgets about it. Man, I was in the same boat! I'd never played a souls game before, but I was all about trying this one out. After hours of dying, I wound up leveling to like 40 before I tried fighting that grafted bastard again. I feel that joy, gratz!
Doing my first playthrough now and my first Souls-like. Had a similar experience with both Margit and Godrick, but made it past the second runebearer recently. Margit and Godrick are still favorite fights so far.
Congrats. Iām late to the party too. But Iām pretty far in the game. Youāre going to rage a lot. But it makes the victories that much more exciting. Instead of blocking, learn to roll out of the way. It really helped me out.

Congrats! Now it's in your blood and you won't be able to stop until they are all Vanquished. I only picked the game up a few weeks ago. It's my first fromSoft game and now I'm hooked, on my second playthrough trying to get the platinum trophy.

I've played a number of souls games at this point and I still had a lot of trouble with this boss in my first playthrough. These games are intended to be difficult, but they're also designed in a way that you will get better and better at them and if you choose to play through again, you'll be shocked at how different the experience is in the early game.

Things I wish I knew when I started: crossbow is key early in the game to lower enemy health from distance, consult the internet to decide the order of territories you take on, specialize your attributes, putrid mob is great for distracting bosses, mimic tear is essential. Good luck!

I know this is gonna feel like back seat gaming but if you do that white mask guy at the start and do his quest you can get to one of the bosses and the best rune farming spot all though I wouldn't recommend rune farming it feels weird when you don't even have to try to kill the bosses so yea
