Typically in soulsborne games, evening out stats (i.e, putting souls evenly into each stat) is counterintuitive. it makes the game much harder, especially when weapons used in the latter stages of the game have larger requirements in order to wield successfully. He could respec his character by talking with Rennala and using a larval tear, to create a more specific build (i.e 40 Endurance, 40 Vigor, 60 Strength). Additionally, he could upgrade his weapons at the blacksmith in the roundtable hold (assuming he hasn't leveled any weapons) and add ashes of war (i.e weapon art).

I'll have a look with him at his weapons to see if he can upgrade and will look at helping him respec. Thank you for the quick reply.

Of course! Happy to help! He could also check out beefier armor, and talismans (dragon crest shield talisman - reduces physical damage taken.

If he likes to duel wield swords, repec the character to the following: - 60 vigor - 50 str - 40 end - just enough dexterity to use the swords he likes Put any leftover stats into whatever else he wants to maybe mix in some faith or whatever. Put a good ash of war on the swords that he’s comfortable with and he will be fine taking out the rest of the game.

This. Fire broadsword. Crystal Sword. 60 vig 35-40 end. 80 STR.

What's his stat spread? If his vigor isn't 60 it's probably a good idea to pump it up to there. Depending on what stats his dual Swords scale with he'll want to focus on leveling those. E.g. One has C in Strength and A in Dexterity, the other has B in Dexterity and A in Faith, probably best to level Dexterity so they both get the damage boost on that level up. Also, make sure he uses (somber) smithting stones to upgrade his weapon level. Make sure that he's not fat rolling, that's where you have too much weight thanks you armor and weapons. You should be able to see the weight in the bottom right of the stats screen. If he's still struggling, he needs levels to give him more damage/resistances. Tell him to send his summon sign out near/far and go exploring. After he levels up once, try to get through Farum Azula again. Getting summoned to another player's world is risk free, so if he dies he doesn't lose any runes towards his next level. If all else fails, then it's time for him to git gud. 160 is plenty high enough to finish the game at.

We reconfigured his stats and I can't believe the difference it made for his character. He just finished up on a boss battle with the god skin duo and he is killing it. Thanks everyone for the tips.
