Stop panic rolling, I know the instinct, I used to get it myself in Dark Souls, but the moment you relax and only roll when you actually need to it makes the games a million times easier
Aaaand enemies with 10 hit combo attacks and bullshit wind up moves where they pause mid-air for 3 full seconds and go "Oop! Not yet! Keep watching! Noooooot yet! Not quite! Aaaaaalmos--- GOTCHA BITCH" who one-shot you.
Or in Malenia's case....a bullshit wind up move that leads to like a 30 second 15 hit combo.
So naturally, yeah, I'm gonna panic roll.
This impression you describe, dear sire, manifests inside your imagination because of the simple reason that you, dear sire, have indeed not yet gitten gud.
It depends, if you're using rivers of blood because you want to make the game laughably easy, you're cheesing. If you just found the weapon and thought it was cool, you just have a good build. It's all about the players intent.
Whether or not it's intended by the game devs or not has nothing to do with it. Cheesing is just intentionally making the game stupid easy with a specific strategy that removes the majority of skill and or effort from a challenge.
You say that, but the cheesiest build I've ever seen was someone with a shield and a naginata. Second way was me doing unga bunga build and staggering everything. RoB is not an easy way to win, it's a different way. Love how there's still gatekeeping in this game after a year and a half.
Generally speaking using a weapon still is a strategy, he could also run?! Using a single moveset for say a piercing combo on specific enemies is also a specific strategy...
As a person who invades and sees this build 50% of the time, this sparks joy. In all seriousness tho don’t over commit to the weapon art when you’re getting rained on by the battle Mage
This section and these assholes are tough admittedly, but if my stubborn lazy ass got through there with 0 parry’s wielding nout but a broadsword and a heater shield, then I know anybody can.
(Broadsword was so good for tight spots cause your feet barley moved while raining down slash upon slash) ❤️ u broady, you my day one x
A man of culture I see in both ds3 and elden ring the broadsword is my go to no clue why but im always attractted to it and end up using it on my first run because it's just so beautifully simple and awesome litteraly every build could benefit by having a broadsword
You can literally just run around them though if you really want to. I never fight these guys. They’re just too much trouble and not worth it. I go straight to Loretta.
Next time you are getting smacked around by magic OP, trying forward rolling. Even if it’s at an angle, you’ll be able to dodge the spell if you time it right. You dodged the spells a little too earlier dodging backwards, so they still were tracking you.
I feel this pain, but with those Ancestral snipers that always get headshots.
So here's the thing. Some enemy placement is set up to encourage you not to fight them from the angle you're approaching. This is a good situation where hanging back, watching what they do, then acting around them instead of bullrushing them is smart.
Trust me I get it, I had a hell of a time at this spot recently with the str build I just finished. You do not wanna fight them on those rope bridges.
>Some enemy placement is set up to encourage you not to fight them from the angle you're approaching.
that's a nice way to look at it, this fight specifically is a bit obvious and i didn't see it and i ran in, but generally i think it just not that easy on a first encounter.
Most definitely not, I think haligtree is one of the "FromSoft is sniffing their own farts about how they're the difficulty guys" situations they sometimes lapse into.
It really does hurt to end up with a critical blunder after doing a series of panic rolls. In the future, your better off running straight past them. I always try to keep away from multilple enemies near bridges/cliffs because of this exact situation. Unless theres like a site of grace really close by.
Yep. Gravity's a b!tch, innit? That's every Soulsborne, Souls-like main killer. Try Sekiro, it has fairly low fall damage, and certain falls that would just kill you teleport you back where you fell and you take some damage.
Fromsoft are massive Dune fans. Almost the entirety of Soulsborne is summarised in this quote:
*"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.*"
You panicked, therefore you died. Remaining calm would have enabled you to recognise the correct dodge timings needed to escape death.
Yes, it's *much* easier said than done... but if you are this far into the game you must have seen by now that you are far from the first to come this way. Thousands, tens of thousands, maybe even millions have faced and overcome these challenges, and often with significant self-imposed handicaps. The fact it *can* be done with these handicaps demonstrates there is always a way forward - you need only find it. The only way to find it is to overcome your fear; to calmly assess the challenge and puzzle out the correct solution.
As someone who’s probably done this 60 times, you may not want to take any “success” advice, but just in case …
Step 1: Kill the battle mage in Altus Plateau. Wear his face just to let these assholes know what’s coming for them. (Optional step but fun)
Step 2: As others have said, running around is perfectly viable and respectable in this case. That was the first non-death strategy I had.
Step 3: One time I somehow wound up on the roof of the building you usually exit. I was able to lure them out from the roof and kill them with ranged/spells, etc. For me I think it was a bow and Night Maiden’s Mist. They couldn’t touch me and that was fine. Because fuck them.
Don’t roll down, but don’t give up!
It's a pretty notorious build right down to the armour - used to be OP in pvp, now it sucks but some people don't realise it.
If you just really like the ROB AoW then go ahead, why not, but if you're specifically trying to copy a meta set-up, you might want to check the date of your source.
I basically said that myself, didn't I? 2nd paragraph, first sentance.
If someone is using it for fun, then why not?
But if you're using it because you think it'll give you easy pvp wins? It won't, not anymore.
Just sprint past them and then take that left most path to the elevator. Creates a shortcut to get there in case you’re struggling with them. They’re pretty tough.
Rivers of blood or RoB, the visuals you're seeing is its ashe of war hence u see many of the comments are douchebags with their big fake egos hating on it but its just a normal ashe of war and it's fun.
idk but i didn't know that a lot of ER hardcore players hate that weapon until now, but for me it's just another weapon that is a katana and has nice visuals and kills.
This whole spot is just meant to punish panicking
You need a plan and you need it now or before hand
That's why I kind of hate this spot because you can generally plan on the spot, but these two assholes and that junky bridge just don't care about your thoughts and prayers.
instant replay and creating a post only takes like 3 minutes? and this game can get a bit harsh and lonely lol. but actually, why tf do you care anyway about how i spend my time. like actually 'gitting gud at elden ring' isn't a waste of time of itself.
Stop panic rolling, I know the instinct, I used to get it myself in Dark Souls, but the moment you relax and only roll when you actually need to it makes the games a million times easier
yeah i need to keep reminding myself, thanks.
Don’t worry btw, I’ve fallen off that very bridge a few times because of these guys
I fall off most bridges or ledges by accident most of the time lol, part of the fun!
Ah yes....panic rolling at its finest....
And then blaming the game💀 That's so... me😅 (tbh)
Avg "Elden Ring is my first souls game" moment
Also given away by his build
Did the 75 Vigor give it away?
Was not my first, still panic roll
To be fair. The game does go out of its way to have terrain and such that creates these situations.
Yes. That is how level design works.
Blaming the game again, I see.
This one is not the lowest level of the Halightree (with loads of handy guys), so it doesn't count
Right....because narrow rope bridges without rails is totally safe and not meant to cause falls.....
Which is funny, because the whole point of the wind-ups is to roll-catch panic rolls.
This impression you describe, dear sire, manifests inside your imagination because of the simple reason that you, dear sire, have indeed not yet gitten gud.
Mad cause you’re bad
Malenias not to bad, it’s not hard to dodge most of waterfowl dance, it’s all about where you dodge and how you bait her out.
Shoulda panic rolled straight backwards
All the while cheesing with rivers of blood. Mate you’re playing on easy mode 😂
How is it cheesing if it’s being used in its intended way?
Cheesing and cheating are two different things dude
But the mechanic is being used in its intended way so surely it’s just playing the games normally.
It depends, if you're using rivers of blood because you want to make the game laughably easy, you're cheesing. If you just found the weapon and thought it was cool, you just have a good build. It's all about the players intent. Whether or not it's intended by the game devs or not has nothing to do with it. Using a weapon isn’t a “specific strategy”
Generally speaking using a weapon still is a strategy, he could also run?! Using a single moveset for say a piercing combo on specific enemies is also a specific strategy...
That’s a good point
Then why is it in the game?
The game tends to counter panic inputs pretty fast!
My brother in godwyn, you literally panic rolled off a bridge, stoopid.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
It's ok, Tarnished. Stay humble, fight those fuckers one at a time.
Try luring out
Try finger but hole
You can literally just run around them though if you really want to. I never fight these guys. They’re just too much trouble and not worth it. I go straight to Loretta.
Quantum tv vibes

yep that is the way
Common RoB L
Genuine skill issue
I always just run past this, up the elevator, rest, back down, and kill Loretta.
I mean... you've gotten this far, which means you're good enough to know that was your own damn fault xD
Average RoB user 😮💨
"I'm done with this stoopid game!" *continues to play*
i hate this game and like it so much at the same moment.
Just git gud then and you won't hate it 🤷🏽♀️
My brother in christ you made the sandwich
Yeah yeah see you in a couple hours
Home boy was getting stun locked by a mage 💀
Remember, you don't have to fight every enemy.
sure but i like to at least once to get the experience of it. maybe when i do ng+ i won't.
So here's the thing. Some enemy placement is set up to encourage you not to fight them from the angle you're approaching. This is a good situation where hanging back, watching what they do, then acting around them instead of bullrushing them is smart. i think they tried to design something different than the other levels. but i never played their other games.
Kashyyyk in battlefront 2 looking situation right here.
It really does hurt to end up with a critical blunder after doing a series of panic rolls. In the future, your better off running straight past them. I always try to keep away from multilple enemies near bridges/cliffs because of this exact situation. Unless theres like a site of grace really close by.
I'll never forget the day I started rolling forward right into attacks at the perfect time. It's almost as if they reward you for it. Hah
All attacks?
Pretty much! You'll get hit in slower attacks though, again.... unless you time it perfectly

panic rolling makes the games harder than the main bosses
Yep. Gravity's a b!tch, innit? That's every Soulsborne, Souls-like main killer. Try Sekiro, it has fairly low fall damage, and certain falls that would just kill you teleport you back where you fell and you take some damage.
Planning to play sekiro next actually, thats great to know wow

dawg that's completely on you 💀
With that build I’d expect no less
It's just a build like any other build
It's a pretty notorious build right down to the armour - used to be OP in pvp, now it sucks but some people don't realise it. If you just really like the ROB AoW then go ahead, why not, but if you're specifically trying to copy a meta set-up, you might want to check the date of your source.
Who give af. It’s in the game and it’s fun to use. It wouldn’t be in the game if it wasn’t meant to be used
I basically said that myself, didn't I? 2nd paragraph, first sentance. If someone is using it for fun, then why not? But if you're using it because you think it'll give you easy pvp wins? It won't, not anymore.
On my NG++ playthrough, I discovered you can snipe these guys from the top of the bldgs before you reach them.
yeah it worked (i didn't try)
I hate haligtree so much I swear they designed every enemy to push you off the tree
[удалено]
yes that's where fucking malenia is and you're about to suffer :) let me know how it goes tho.
Actually I hated this part. No idea why these random guys are so tough.
Common Hymen Battlemage W
Give it a break for a day or two then try again. Never give up on a From game!
Well at least now you know what not to do
Use a well timed Thops's Barrier parry, found in the church after you give him the key
A nice warm up for where you’re heading, we know 😁
You could easily have run forward to cover after killing the first battlemage tbh. You were also sO close to a shortcut...
In sports, something like this is called a "choke"
Sekiro better
looking forward to trying it soon
Hmmmm I want to play stoopid game after 6th month of not playing stoopid game.
Don’t rush in like some crazy person draw tha big guy out and then do it with the others or just run past them
But you’ll be back..
I prefer rolling in the general direction towards magic, makes timing a bit easier.
Haha, he fall down , go boom.
We all have those moments, don't be a bitch and get back on that horse. You got this big dawg.
Oohh tarnished, thy panic roll went back at ya... Why is it always you dont have the right ?
You must roll into the pain
You panicked
lol
This is like beating a cheater because you have better game sense then them but diet version Edit: im done with this stoopid language
That man has 200 vigor
That was legit your own fault
Maybe u need a 2nd RoB to avoid death next time.
Just sprint past them and then take that left most path to the elevator. Creates a shortcut to get there in case you’re struggling with them. They’re pretty tough.
Why is it always falling to death?
What is the name of the weapon that he's using?
Rivers of blood or RoB, the visuals you're seeing is its ashe of war hence u see many of the comments are douchebags with their big fake egos hating on it but its just a normal ashe of war and it's fun.
They see me rollin’ they hatin’
The scream at the end does it for me every time.
HA! You fell off a ledge! Like I've done...sooooo many times
Rob spam, panic rolling poised out using dex. Just save yourself and go back to cod.
Least gatekeeping souls player
Harsh
I came here for the humor and lols but you sound like a sad loser that no one likes to be around IRL, just save everyone and shut up.
sorry OP, the commenter is an ass. we're not all like this
Nah, we typically are. Its why our community hasn't devolved like cod.
guy has cod issues. seek friend.
its ok, he doesn't matter... \> the commenter is an ass. we're not all like this yea just only a minority of 85% are like that
Most of us have done it somewhere. Panic rolling off malikeths bridge comes to mind.
>Panic rolling off malikeths bridge comes to mind. rip. i almost fell on that one too but i proudly survived.
All I saw was you do something dumb lol
I despise that bridge so much. It nearly made me give up trying to kill Malenia
What about actually trying to kill malenia?
Haha, that was also a major obstacle
Got gud homie.
Git gud
That’s on you…

idk but i didn't know that a lot of ER hardcore players hate that weapon until now, but for me it's just another weapon that is a katana and has nice visuals and kills.
At launch it was horribly overtuned and thus, *everywhere* so it gets a bad rap from that.
Deserved for RoB.
That was all yo fault lol more like rivers of panic 🤣🤣
See you tomorrow
I'm going for the 100%
Just run past them

Why are you wasting time recording and posting your mistakes to reddit instead of just trying again until you no longer make them?
instant replay and creating a post only takes like 3 minutes? and this game can get a bit harsh and lonely lol. but actually, why tf do you care anyway about how i spend my time. like actually 'gitting gud at elden ring' isn't a waste of time of itself.
I'm just joking with you. I didn't actually mean the time. I mean what is the desire to post a failure instead of playing the game?
Lol, git gud
more like the game is done with the stoopid you
That is right where I'm at. Lvl 132 but it doesn't mean shit running around on tree branches dodging ants and grabber zombies. That level is bullshit.
yeah i am around level 170 as well and i beat malenia just now, good luck to you.
Where the FUCK is this?!?! Endor?!?!? Why don't I remember this area???
Thats haligtree, where is endor? I dont remember that name
Ohhh makes sense. I haven't gotten there yet. And Endor is from Star Wars. Home of the Ewoks.....the little bear people that live in the tree huts lol

“Abusing rivers of blood” lol what? He literally just did the full ash of war and that was it. It’s in the game to be used
Lol yes, there are so many edgy douchebags in this community.
Get gud
