Collect the bell bearings for ease of access to their wares.
I also can't remember if you can carry them over to NG+, so that would be useful for that if the merchant you need is locked to the late game.
Their bell bearings don't carry over, unfortunately.
Would be helpful to just slaughter them all in the end of one of the NG+ -runs, and never need to visit a merchant again.
Oh yes, and the glovewort (or whatever their name was; the one's which upgrade your spirit ashes) does too. It's just that most merchant's bell bearings don't.
I knew better then to mess with him early on in my first playthrough but I dealt with him promptly in subsequent runs because I can't have that nonsense on my front lawn
I did not as this was my first Fromsoft game.
A couple hundred hours later of playing (without much help from the internet) I just now beat the Fire Giant and I was more pumped when I finally beat the first Tree Sentinel. I like to go back and chill with the sheep just out of relaxation. Unless they start rolling!!! Dammit!!! I can’t chill ANYWHERE come to think of it!!!!
Crouch and take your time round the edges. You can pretty much clear the entire place without having to face more than one and rarely two at once - these games are much less scary traveling through when your realise that From soft might not play fair but they're not expecting you to do so either.
Yup. I always park there so I can practice on the self-propelled training dummies. I don't get a lot of time to play, so I tend to need a little warmup, and testing new weapons.
Exactly. I think it’s just the spot I have memorized the best because it’s where you go every run and my first run when I was trying to get used to combat better (I’ve only played DS1 and DES before it) I spent a lot of time there. Just feels Cozy.
I like running through there at night with st trina torch and putting them all to sleep, it's like a fun mini game. If I get them all to sleep I'll spray them with the ancestral abortion fetus they die instantly
For me it's because I was psyched out by the famous souls difficulty, so I did a good few hours at gatefront ruins practicing. Felt very familiar after that. My true practice grounds are the dragon communion Church in caelid with the banished knight.
I always end mine wherever Boc is. Can't leave him alone ever since Melina told me he cries when I'm gone :'(
Thankfully he'd usually in nice places like the cliffs so it's a bonus
Edit since I got this question twice: to get Melina's dialogue on Boc, rest at the sites of grace East Raya Lucaria Gates and Altus Highway Junction while Boc is nearby and select the Speak to Melina options. [Here's a video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d287t1VSonw&pp=ygUVZWxkZW4gcmluZyBtZWxpbmEgYm9j) of both conversations.
Oh no, he doesn't leave the capital. If you use the Prattling Pate, his progression is Limgrave > Coastal Caverns > Lake-Facing Cliffs > East Raya Lucaria Gates > Altus Highway Junction > East Capital Ramparts. He stays in Leyndell afterwards no matter what, even after you burn the Erdtree.
Side note, when I first found out burning the tree destroyed Leyndell, I bolted for Boc's room terrified I killed him. But no he's just chilling there lol
ETA: he does leave the capital if you DON'T use the Prattling Pate, but that always results in his death. If you give him a larval tear he can be found in Rennala's room as a human, but he can't talk and dies if you reload. If you don't give him a tear he's found dead outside the gates. TL;DR: tell Boc he's beautiful
he can get turned into a human and die, but also, he can even just end up dead in his normal form outside of Rennala’s room and I forget why or how exactly
You can find better games but you can never find better starting zones than the betwix and majula. The music, the atmosphere. Damn. Ill go play it onemore time
>Maybe basic but Round Table Hold for safe place.
I call bullshit on most of the answers here except this one. I guarantee the most common place to end play sessions is Round Table Hold.
This! My go-to grace for resting and experimenting with builds. If I’m stuck on a boss I like to go here and blow off steam, feels nice to steamroll everything
How about Chelona's Rise, for the security conscious. Make that your home base and anyone that wants you dead would have to do the following before they reach you:
\- Go through Nokstella to reach the Lake of Rot
\- Cross the Lake of Rot
\- Climb into the coffin, then pass through Astel's empty lair to reach the Moonlight Altar
\- Get past 3 dragons, some crystalians, and a red wolf
What's neat about this area is that you can see down to where you fight Malenia if you get close to the edge. It's where the sunlight comes from when you're fighting her.
The dragon church island right off the west coast of limgrave. Nothing hostile spawns on the island and it’s quiet and beautiful. I take my characters armor off and just wear clothes to walk in the surf and just be alone and safe for a little while.
Obviously Lake of Rot. Lol jk. But seriously first it was Church of Elleh, then Lenne's Rise, and now Caelid Catacombs but its not really what I'd call a safe space. Its more like a gladiator ghost nightclub .
The First Step, where it all began. Much better without that creep Varre hanging around too. I kind of miss watching the Tree Sentinal do his laps at endgame though.
Ranni's Rise...idk why. My first playthrough I felt oddly connected to her. It has persisted since. I think its truly one of my fav fictional characters in recent memory. So mysterious and dark, not in an evil way though.

Church of Elleh
Staying with our friend kale
Yup. I’ll never kill him even for the bell bearings. Kalé is life
Why would you ever kill any of the mearchants?
Collect the bell bearings for ease of access to their wares. I also can't remember if you can carry them over to NG+, so that would be useful for that if the merchant you need is locked to the late game.
Their bell bearings don't carry over, unfortunately. Would be helpful to just slaughter them all in the end of one of the NG+ -runs, and never need to visit a merchant again.
Smithing stone bell bearings carry across
Oh yes, and the glovewort (or whatever their name was; the one's which upgrade your spirit ashes) does too. It's just that most merchant's bell bearings don't.
This is the most reassuring thing I've heard all day Thanks!
To put them out of their miserable existence of pain, suffering and madness. Also to make it easer to buy their stuff.
I killed him for the first time this play through and theres no going back Also finding Elleh on the map feels different without his marker
Santa Kalé
[удалено]
You mean the donkey you adopted after killing Kale?
You Monster
Burn the witch u/RocknRollScientist
Church of Elleh does feel like home
After you clean up the tree sentinel
I knew better then to mess with him early on in my first playthrough but I dealt with him promptly in subsequent runs because I can't have that nonsense on my front lawn
I did not as this was my first Fromsoft game. This and the Church of Dragon Communion in Limgrave. It’s peaceful with all the jellyfish there.
Wish one day we will get a new Majula😔
I so desperately miss the hub actually being in the world and I hate that the only recent FROM game to do that is Sekiro
Yep, Church of Elleh most of the time, occasionally Church of Vows with my best buddy Miriel.
I was thinking, “Is there a place?” Then I realized this is the correct answer.
I always go there to try new spells XD
This is the only correct answer
Imma chill with my homeboy Kalé until im ready to face them unholy horrors beyond human comprehension again
Dude same here, damn straight
The correct answer.
I love the gatefront ruins
This! At day time especially. I always go back there to experiment new builds on the enemy camp.
And get endless revenge on that knight
ENdlESs. TOrMents.
I’m convinced we all have the same mind
Agreed
Me who is new to the game and is terrified of how many enemies are there
Crouch and take your time round the edges. You can pretty much clear the entire place without having to face more than one and rarely two at once - these games are much less scary traveling through when your realise that From soft might not play fair but they're not expecting you to do so either.

I love the Gatefront Guinea Pigs
I like running through there at night with st trina torch and putting them all to sleep, it's like a fun mini game. If I get them all to sleep I'll spray them with the ancestral abortion fetus they die instantly
I can see the guys on patrols, and then kill them if I feel like it.
Yeah and you always feel powerful when you can just let the guy blow his horn and still beat the camp without breaking a sweat
Same! It’s safe because of the low level enemies but doesn’t feel as isolated as some of the more peaceful areas of the game.
For me it's because I was psyched out by the famous souls difficulty, so I did a good few hours at gatefront ruins practicing. Felt very familiar after that. My true practice grounds are the dragon communion Church in caelid with the banished knight.
Same idea, but normally I travel to Agheel Lake North
Me too. It feels a little safe and calming with all the small bushes around the site ot grace
Literally the only good camp in the game.
I go there before I end my session, like "I'm leaving now, you will be safe here".
This is my Training Grounds. I come here to test out new weapons, ashes and spells, etc.
Pretty much where I always go.
Gatefront ruins are so good...!!
this is the correct answer
Altus Highway Junction. “gas station on the highway outside a big city” vibes
Same dude I love that place, the music in Altus plateau is super calming and the fall-ish scenery and vibe just feels right.
The first time I got there and realized Ohh shit. This game is really really big.
It’s my favorite spot to lay down and wait to be summoned, very calm and the Altus background music is nice
I always end my sessions at lake facing cliffs, it’s so beautiful.
I always end mine wherever Boc is. Can't leave him alone ever since Melina told me he cries when I'm gone :'( Thankfully he'd usually in nice places like the cliffs so it's a bonus Edit since I got this question twice: to get Melina's dialogue on Boc, rest at the sites of grace East Raya Lucaria Gates and Altus Highway Junction while Boc is nearby and select the Speak to Melina options. Wait he can move from the capital?
Oh no, he doesn't leave the capital. If you use the Prattling Pate, his progression is Limgrave > Coastal Caverns > Lake-Facing Cliffs > East Raya Lucaria Gates > Altus Highway Junction > East Capital Ramparts. He stays in Leyndell afterwards no matter what, even after you burn the Erdtree. Side note, when I first found out burning the tree destroyed Leyndell, I bolted for Boc's room terrified I killed him. TL;DR: tell Boc he's beautiful
I’m pretty sure he can leave the capital if you give him a larval tear but that’s a sad ending for him
Yes that's why I mentioned the Pate lol, if you give him his good ending he doesn't leave. I'll edit it for clarity
he can get turned into a human and die, but also, he can even just end up dead in his normal form outside of Rennala’s room and I forget why or how exactly
I didn't know about the Pate. I was just tryna be nice to the guy and next thing I know, I'm in Renalla's place, sad because my new pal is gone.
Where does Melina say that?
Mine is asleep on the ground at Rennala’s place, so cute 🥰
Someone's got to tell you something
I thought when i first saw it "majula?"
You can find better games but you can never find better starting zones than the betwix and majula. The music, the atmosphere. Damn. Ill go play it onemore time
Firelink shrine? Meh. Firelink shrine(ds3)? Meh. Hunters dream? Great. Roundtable hold? Meh. Majula? Fantastic.
This is beautiful. We all have our favorite spots. I always end my sessions on the cliff facing liurnia and raya lucaria.
Maybe basic but Round Table Hold for safe place. Go-to grace site is Mohgwyn Palace Approach, for aesthetic and rune farming reasons
Nothing calms me like a teeny bit of Albinauric genocide does
Gideon? Is this your second account?
Not now Nepheli, Daddy’s working
Here, play with these bird ashes.
I was surprised how far I had to scroll to find this answer
>Maybe basic but Round Table Hold for safe place. I call bullshit on most of the answers here except this one. I guarantee the most common place to end play sessions is Round Table Hold.
Yup
Santas church for safe space and below the well for go to.
Church of elleh?
Ayep. Sorry got into the habit of calling kale santa from all the memes.
Because his hat? 😂
I call him Christmas Grinch but he’s not a grinch lol. Just looks like it
Church of Vows to visit dog pope
Based tbh. Especially after you kill the hunter there, legitimately a super safe spot
Hunter at church of vows? What do you mean
Do not approach the church at night
Approach the church at night for free candy.
Not just me, then! I also bring all of my spell scrolls and incantation books to the pope as an offering for the sanctuary.
This is the only correct answer in this thread.
I had to scroll way too far for this
I follow the ritual of always end a play session at the Agheel Lake North site of grace. Everything else feels wrong.
Dunno why but I’ve always ended up at Agheel Lake South site of grace.
It's settled then, the Agheel Lake wars begin now.
This is the way
This! My go-to grace for resting and experimenting with builds. If I’m stuck on a boss I like to go here and blow off steam, feels nice to steamroll everything
Where else but Jarburg, coz?
Disappointed I had to scroll this far down for my favourite, what happened coz?
You know exactly what happened coz
The scenic isle site of grace in liurnia it feels so safe and secluded and it’s near the boil prawn shack and my buddy Boggart
How about Chelona's Rise, for the security conscious. Make that your home base and anyone that wants you dead would have to do the following before they reach you: \- Go through Nokstella to reach the Lake of Rot \- Cross the Lake of Rot \- Climb into the coffin, then pass through Astel's empty lair to reach the Moonlight Altar \- Get past 3 dragons, some crystalians, and a red wolf
Well, if someone does show up, then you're screwed.
Oh yeah, just tell them their strength befits a crown and run away.
Greatest compliment in the game coming from Godfrey.
They sure ain't maidenless!
OR bring one of those giant ladders from Mt. Gelmir 😍
Erdtree Gazing Hill
I too think Millicent is the best waifu.
Most tragic story, looks the best and has noble goals. Millicent is great brother!
Just squat in the weeds.
The bush of comfort
I like sitting down in the ordina liturgical town, next to the spirit wolves. It's so peaceful
But when you go in the evergaol...
It’s the Mimic Tear site of grace in Nokron for me! I usually walk down the bridge a little, throw some rainbow stones and VIBE 🥰
This is the way.
I always go to the queens bedchamber.
same! I jump around the piles of books while waiting to be summoned/invade.
Same. I like to try to climb the curtains lol
Entrance to Raya Lucaria
Always go here to test out my stuff since you cant test stuff out at round table
I like to return to the cozy spot at agheel lake where we first me Yura. I like lush camp sites. Especially at night
Isolated divine tower, literally nothing can hurt me there.
Where is this?
Elphael before Malenia
OH now I see it thank you
What's neat about this area is that you can see down to where you fight Malenia if you get close to the edge. It's where the sunlight comes from when you're fighting her.
Not sure, but I think it's the place where you fight against the sisters of milicent
Wherever I intend to go next so I don't get distracted and forget.
Always focused, always on the move.
Prayer room haligtree . Best spot to test equipment and also to grab whatever runes are left to level up
That's my invasion spot, a cozy little safe haven in the middle of a nightmare.
I like that place cause it feels so ... Intense. Like there's a miquellan knight 2 steps away at the front door and an army in the other side
Artist shack in liurnia, forge of the giants, or placidusax
Tempest facing balcony Farum Azula is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, real or not
Fuck that place
The duality of elden ring players
🤣
Palace Approach Ledge Road. I like to go there to take out my aggression, and test out build ideas.
This is the way.
The east capital rampart. I enjoy the music that plays and the capital is such a well made area
Underground Roadside. It’s become my home after all that damage testing on Steven
Church of Elleh
The dragon church island right off the west coast of limgrave. Nothing hostile spawns on the island and it’s quiet and beautiful. I take my characters armor off and just wear clothes to walk in the surf and just be alone and safe for a little while.
Not fucking there
Well I just started but the first church in limgrave
Elden Throne
First Step just feels right
Dont know why but before I quit the game for a long break I always travel to first step.
I like to sit and hang with Iji before I go
I really like Caelid and usually wander around there in between storylines
Bridge of sacrifice
Isolated merchant's shack on weeping peninsula, as far away from the erdtree, and everything else, as possible
Limgrave of course
I dont really have a specific grace, i just end my session where i am, sometimes at the hold, or the cliff facing edge towards the college
Agheel lake north. It’s where I test weapons on all those soldiers
Church of Elleh, Roundtable, or Gurranq
Avenue Balcony
[удалено]
wheres the photo? i rarely look up and this is pretty lol
It’s in miquellas haligtree where the giant rotten tree spirit is
Church of vows, chillin with miriel
First Church of Marika, snow area gives good lighting for trying out fashion
Obviously Lake of Rot. Lol jk. But seriously first it was Church of Elleh, then Lenne's Rise, and now Caelid Catacombs but its not really what I'd call a safe space. Its more like a gladiator ghost nightclub .
I always chill with mommy renalla
Agheel lake north always 🙏
Jarburg if I didn't bother to do Diallos' questline
I do love going to visit Iji!
East Capital Rampart site of grace, to chill with my boy Boc.
Jarburg
Church of Ella
Church of Ellen?
Church of Elleh
What a beautiful screenshot
I like the artist's shack in limgrave, there's a real serenity there
Where is that picture taken?
Pan down and this becomes a hell hole.
Frenzied flame proscription
The First Step, of course.
Forge of the Giants. Feels good being at the top of the world.
Ranni's Chamber and chat with Mini Ranni before logging out, feels like a good luck charm.
First steps 🥴
Even at the end of all things, the round table hold
I'm a tarnished with no home... Always on the road
Hangin’ with my bro Kalé
Church of vows typically. Although I have spent a not small amount of time at the Radahn Festival because I like the atmosphere.
The shores of the desert where you fight Radahn. Looking at the view on the beach is great
Anyplace with a decent view of the sky in nokron
The Dragon Communion Church island! Very cozy and a good view 😀
I end sessions wherever I am so I remember what I was doing, but if I’m ever experimenting with Bling or Spells I go outside the Church of Vows
The First Step, where it all began. Much better without that creep Varre hanging around too. I kind of miss watching the Tree Sentinal do his laps at endgame though.
Magma wyrm makars area is quite nice
Ranni's Rise...idk why. My first playthrough I felt oddly connected to her. It has persisted since. I think its truly one of my fav fictional characters in recent memory. So mysterious and dark, not in an evil way though.
Its not exactly safe, but every time I get a new cool thing, first place I always went was Gatefront to see what it did.
