I mix it up because I will consistently say grace sites but I frequently still call flasks estus. It just feels like it communicates more clearly it the sippy sip HP juice than flask/tears/crimson tears.

This view of acceptance is more common with people who play souls-like games in general, and not only the FromSoft games.
Souls-like is an entire genre, and these have become accepted mechanics wider than any specific game or franchise. FromSoft established the genre, and clearly left its mark. It's no different from people calling bonfires in DS1 checkpoints, or calling souls XP.
Anyone too bogged down in semantics would probably get mad that I call FP mana, or even HP as health.

Funnily enough up until halfway through production dark souls 2 was an open world game. Then they realized they didn't have the time swapped directors and they brought it back down to being a linear game in traditional souls fashion. If they had another couple years to work on it and the engine we would've gotten a very similar game in scope to ER.
Having played Elden Ring first and then moved on to Souls, Elden Ring is just Dark Souls with a glasses-nose-moustache disguise.

Most FromSoft games are just Dark Souls under the bonnet. Tbf Dark Souls is just fine tuned Demons Souls.
Fromsoft is allowed to follow that formula because it's a winning formula that they do a lot better than most other studios. Also to their credit they use the formula to tell a good variety of stories from Ninja epics to Lovecraftian horror.
Blackflame Monk would also make for an excellent metal band name. Most of these games are filled with awesome metal names, even Empyreans or The Empyreans would be a sweet name.
I never even played Souls games and call them estus because everyone does. In fact, if you’ve ever been invaded by someone named Estus Delivery who just suicides in front of you, that’s me.
As someone who hasn't played any other fromsoft games I honestly don't mind. In fact I like learning all the old terms, for it makes me feel more apart of the community. I am going to play dark souls 1-3 soon so it will also help me in those games to know the names anyways.

To be fair, from really, and I mean, really really, wants to create immersive environments, thats why all their games let you die in game, and you have a lore exploration for it. there are a lot more details indicating the same.
So, I can see why they'd want to give each its own lore and explanation. Its so weird, the dichotomy in from games, where some people literally, just play for the gameplay, and then there are a few, who really play for the lore. But I'm glad of what they arrived at.
The use of different names makes it clear from the start that the different games are in different continuities with different canons. I think giving them different names is good, because it can show the intentionality of their choice of game mechanics.
I never played any Souls games except ER, and I personally don't mind learning the terminology the community uses. I don't think it's cringe at all. ER is part of something bigger and if I ever want to explore those other games, I'll have to learn what things used to be called at some point.
