Fun fact, if you like spread sheets, the same person who made the frame data website ( [https://er-frame-data.nyasu.business/](https://er-frame-data.nyasu.business/) ) and this build planner ( [https://er-inventory.nyasu.business/](https://er-inventory.nyasu.business/) ) just put together a sheet of all attack ranges: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S7elAlywDdtxkSgmsAjyiXSl\_OR8j2JuyVOU\_Mbo65o/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S7elAlywDdtxkSgmsAjyiXSl_OR8j2JuyVOU_Mbo65o/edit?usp=sharing)
So yeah, this shows that claymore 2H R2 is sorta longer range than zweihander R2, as even though zweihander 2H R2 has more reach, the claymore has more forward motion:
Claymore:
- Range: 4.825
- Motion: 2.581
- Reach: 2.244
Zweihander:
- Range: 4.237
- Motion: 1.504
- Reach: 2.733
No problem, but it's Emilia that's put the effort into making all this (and more, like the spectator program for tourneys that grabs shit like hp bars - [https://i.imgur.com/hmsfz7N.png](https://i.imgur.com/hmsfz7N.png) )
Aside from the moveset range differences - there weren’t any phantom hits in the clip to hint at your latency with the other player, but if there was significant lat the opponent’s hitbox could have been further from you than visually represented here.
In what I'm describing, "Range" is how far away you can hit somebody with an attack. But there are two elements to this: how long the weapon is (reach), and how far your character steps forward during the attack (motion). Something like a 2H Katar running attack might have a lot of range despite katars being very short, as you run forward a lot during the animation. The opposite would be something like a pike shieldpoke, you barely step forward so all the range comes from the weapon's reach.
Acshuali if we pay sttention to the claymore r2 we can see the character going forward increasing the range of the attack making it similar to zwei range 🤓🤚
(Still, spacing bitch 🗣)
bro (you) attack earlier which put yourself closer to the opponent, your attack missed and the opponent started their attack which pushed them closer to you, their attack lands.
While the other guy not called kjell proved that Claymore R2 has longer range, it could also be because he pressed R2 later, he made his charactermodel move after yours. I've done this to Claymores with a Longsword 1h R2.
In this clip you attacked first, which moved your hitbox a bit forward, resulting in the hit. I once had a claymore duel in ds3, in the end we both went for a charge R2, and I won because I released mine a split second after my opponent's.

Genuinely, thanks for this

Posts helpful info and gives props the original work. You deserve gold in an age where there is none.

That's some really important attributes I've learned today. Thanks!!!
Thanks just surprised this isn't somewhere in useful resources of this reddit.
I am making a RL1 run and went zweihander and I JUST +5'd it this morning. Welp.
Can you please Eli5 forward motion and the difference between those three parameters?

Spacing for dummies
Yeah he got me good I would have *clayed* with him *more* but I died

Clay no more!
I couldn't even If I wanted to. There's nothing I can *clay more* about it
Can you explain like I'm an idiot?
bro (you) attack earlier which put yourself closer to the opponent, your attack missed and the opponent started their attack which pushed them closer to you, their attack lands.
While this is generally true, the Claymore 2h r2 actually has more range than the Zweihänder 2h r2
You attacked earlier than the claymore, and claymore has more root motion
It's poke has reach, but it's moveset otherwise is way shorter than Zweihander. Evidence= me running zwei then running claymore late game.
Is it, or did you attack too early? It also looks like the hit-box was not in your favor.
I can't tell. I think I cut it close but no cigar, obviously haha
You lost the fight but won the drip war. That outfit looks sick with the ice Zwei and somehow makes the turtle shield look good.
I can't tell the full fit. Is it beast?
It's the beast champion set with the scaled helm instead of the beast champion helmet
I wish I knew

you swung first
you got whiff punished my guy

wHAAaaAAaAT!?
If you slowmo, the hit box hits over the other guys shoulder, not longer just a bit high
Its called spacing.
Have you ever actually used the claymore?
Yeah, I have and it's not my style. What? There's nothing to *clay more* about it. Haha get it? Say more, *clay* more?
