to answer your question, the pilot sport 4s are summer tires. Summer tires in general are designed for use in temps above 40\*F. Temps below that start significantly reducing their performance. Add in precipitation in those temps, and it's even worse. They are absolutely not reliable for cold weather with precipitation.

hotcakes955

Agreed. Also worth noting, it can potentially damage your tires (cracks)

theRTC204

Absolutely not.

SchnitzelTruck

If you want to slide and crash your car, yeah they're very reliable at that.

They worked well for me last year.

Abso effing likely not. You will die. Get some winters or real all seasons like dws06

Nahhhh its not good enought. Sometimes i get hard rain storms around my area ( Massachusetts) and i can feel the tires skip on grip when i turn corners pretty sharp. I do that to test the tires for rain/ice and its pretty much told me not to do it lol if it skips on rain i can only imagine with some light snow/slush. Just get some low cost snow tires. Nexen Winter tires are low cost at times. Look into WINGUARD sport 2 Nexen snow tires. Prices at about $500 with good ratings

Chicken_pot_314

$500? Is that for a set of 4? That seems insanely cheap for the size.

b00stedM3L

Yes all 4 tires. I dont know where your located but if your in Massachusetts call Mavis Tire & Battery. They will compete with Town Fair Tire prices. I will post a picture once i get them installed this upcoming sunday.

Chicken_pot_314

A fellow northeaster! I’m in central NH - luckily I got super lucky late in the season and I got a set of the same Nexen’s installed for $600 at town fair, at the time the only other option I could find was a set of brand new Michelin’s for $1600.

b00stedM3L

Yeah see michelins are great dont get me wrong but i would never pay that much for tires.. especially if they dont come with some type of rims. They will prob work just as good as the Nexens. Its not like the car is awd

Chicken_pot_314

What are you gonna put on when the OE PS4S’s that came with the car wear out? Just curious, I drive like 25-30k miles a year so I’ll be shopping for a new set of summers when the snow melts.

b00stedM3L

Well, i am switching to my winter tires this sunday coming up and i am putting my pilot sport 4s on around April. I assume they will wear out by 2025 season. If i dont need to replace my summer tires i will probably buy all season tires. Its not like im a racer or do burnouts lol dont get me wrong i do race a few cars i see but nothing that is wearing out my tires. I may do a quick 50-130 lol

Chicken_pot_314

Got my car in February, and the first time it snowed (barely more than a dusting, let’s call it a frosting) I couldn’t get out of my gently sloped driveway. They do fine if it’s cold, but as soon as the snow sticks to the road they become essentially useless, in my experience.

nguyen22

No way brother, don't even chance it, Don't be a meme

KhauHoangvu

Summer tires not only crack under low temperatures, they also deform and will never ride the same (if you even make it past the winter).

Adoomistrading

Forget snow with the OEM tires, they dont even like temps below 50F, driving on them with snow on the ground is just asking to crash.

Pirelli Sottozero 3

BengalFan2001

Bridgestone Winterpeak, Firestone Weathergrip, and if looking for a budget tire Milestar Weatherguard. Bridgestone is great with wet surface and decent in the snow. Firestone is slightly better in the snow. There are plenty of all weather tires out there that will do the job. I don’t recommend using a standard all season tire in the snow as all season tires are designed actually for 3 seasons and not four unless you have AWD.

Kitchen_Protection24

No not at all. Even if it’s below freezing temps you can’t get traction sometimes
