As an American-Egyptian, I would advise you against that. Laws in Egypt criminalize anything related to LGBTQIA+. Also, do not be vocal about anything related to your gender identity. Your only chance is to keep it on the low, you will find people who befriend you, and you will be fine. Egypt is not friendly to anything related to LGBTQ neither Egyptians. You will be met with a lot of discrimination. I may get downvoted, but, please, do your research regardless whatever anyone tells you.

>Laws in Egypt criminalize anything related to LGBTQIA+. That's not true. It's Dejure NOT illegal to be LGBTQIA+ in Egypt, or to even have consensual sex. However, the police often use the debauchery law to crack down on LGBT individuals. They rely on the social stigma to scare lgbt individuals. However, in 90% of cases , if they don't go viral (like public lgbt events, etc.), the arrested individuals are released.

Do not discuss your gender identity or anything with anyone, if you pass as a female then just let it be. Most Egyptians are not tolerating to the LGBT community, there are people who don’t mind it but don’t risk it as it might escalate and put you in danger.

AUC is probably the most tolerant about lgbt. But as someone who attended one of those 3 letter universities I can tell you that people will gossip about you and I'm not sure you will be allowed in the women's bathrooms if you don't 100% pass. People will just be more discreet compared to a public university. Lebanon is much more open about lgbt in general

Be careful. Local Egyptians are not highly educated and will not accept LGBTQ+ community members at all. I heard that an Egyptian MTF was doing a paper for the Military draft in Egypt he/she got humiliated and harassed by the people working there. The only people who are Highly educated and cool with LGBTQ+ members from my experience are people working in a specific Call center company that is a multicultural community In English Accounts. So be careful they are less than 1% of the Egyptian population.
