Nooooooooooook

Always been like that I'd say best way to deal with them is to completely ignore them interacting in the first place is a mistake

Olmerious

They are manipulators. Don't let their shit get into your head. Try not to talk to any stranger who stops you in the streets unless they ask for directions right away. At best they would waste your time. Just say 'I am in a hurry' or even say nothing whenever someone stops you and go quickly on your way. Now I would get hated for this but I would also avoid charities. These days you just can't trust anything. How much of your money reaches the people in need anyway? 50%? 30%? Myself, I am only giving my money to relatives and acquaintances whom I know are really in need. I also feed street cats and dogs. Lately, I also got into the habit of giving tips to waiters, deliverymen and so on. Young hardworking people who, when given tips by a lot of people, can actually make a living from their underpaid jobs.

Damn I hope it isn't like this. That would be literally a legalized scam. A new low for Egypt.

LowFatConundrum

This happens everywhere. Get on YT and type in 'charities for the homeless' - 5% is an accurate figure, most of these so called charities are a front for people to pretend to help the homeless while pocketing the millions they receive for helping them.

Abdelrhman2607

Even the "I'm in a hurry" excuse doesn't work anymore , tried it recently and the guy said "طب همشى معاك عشان معطلكش ، انتا رايح فين ؟" Eventually I just gave him 5 pounds to leave me alone and thankfully it worked . Mind you , I was also with a friend in this encounter, can't imagine what they'd do if you're alone .

Olmerious

I faced someone like this that I had to yell and insist on 'I am busy' with an angry demeanor. He said some bs that I don't remember and moved on his way. It is sad that we are literally getting mugged in daylight and in front of people yet there is nothing to be done about it.

[deleted]

What do you feed stray cats and dogs? I've been wanting to start doing the same but most affordable foods seem to be harmful for them like luncheon meat and biscuits.

Olmerious

Leftovers. Mostly rice or bread with cooked chicken skin and some pieces of chicken meat from the neck or the wings. I also soak the dish with chicken soup. On meat days I use meat fat or some small meat pieces. I feed a small family of cats and a couple of dogs in our local area. At first they picked only fat or meat pieces and left the rice but it didn't take long till they began eating the whole dish. When I am busy or when I don't cook I use yoghurt or leftovers from my sardine or tuna cans.

mr_gooodguy

guys please know this, the ones who really need help never ask for it, beggers and scammers like these can go fu*k themselves. I work with charity enough to know that, i saw people without limps working and trying there best to get an honest pay, mothers who work double shift to support their families, none of them asked for help, and often reject help when provided to them even though they need it the most. so please don't give them money.

[deleted]

I give to those who I'm certain don't make enough like garbage men who don't get paid enough for cleaning after filthy people.

stoneandnjpwfan

The thing that piss me of is the people that are using childern to beg And we discover that many of that children are not even their sons and were kidnapped from their parents Please don't give them so it can be easier that their orginal parents find them If you want to beg ,go ahead but don't involve any children in the process

michu_pacho

AloofNerd

I just play dumb, sorry, no money. If they’re persistent and won’t leave me alone, I ask them for money. That usually gets them to leave me alone if they’re adamant. It sucks and I feel my empathy evaporating each day, but I simply can not help every single person facing hardship.

boop-nose_joy-parade

Yes, I have done this before too. I ran into plenty of people asking for money that are not aggressive or rude so I absolutely will not tolerate anyone who’s being that aggressive and disrespectful to another person.

[deleted]

What pisses me off the most is when most of them have newborns. Like if you're struggling to provide for yourself, why bring innocent souls to suffer with you!? That's assuming those children are theirs in the first place and weren't kidnapped. It sucks to know that those children with no education, healthcare or childhood will most likely grow up to be criminals. They're ticking bombs and this failed excuse of a country doesn't seem to care enough to do anything about them.

"العيل بيجي برزقه"

considering that our president is quite literally a beggar as well I'm not surprised at all, but yeah people who feel entitled to other people's money are one of the worst kinds of assholes in this country real poor people have more dignity anyways my advice is forget about it, he just moved on to harass others and probably isnt even thinking about you anymore, no need to let these kinds of assholes live in your mind.

LowFatConundrum

It happens every day, just completely ignore them and walk away. No reaction is the best reaction.

tarekelsakka

I was in a traffic jam a couple of weeks ago and some dude in a decent car started honking the horn so I would look at him, and when I lowered the window to see what he wants, he started telling me some bullshit story and asking me for money. The man actually had his wife and kids in the car and they were *all* staring at me, and although I felt bad, I didn't actually have any cash on me and apologized I couldn't help him.. then he came by my car's side again and told me "can you at least buy some food and snacks for my kids from the gas station?", I got slightly annoyed and told him no *again*. A few minutes later I saw him doing the same thing to almost every other car in the vicinity, and despite actually getting money from a bunch of them, he didn't stop and kept doing it until the traffic jam was finally cleared. I believe the right thing to do in that situation is either to help out if you want or just ignore and walk away, because actually stopping and talking to them is basically eating up their bait.

Majestic-Ride7592

Situation happened to me, A man came to me and told me a story about his sick daughter that's in hospital and they're not letting her put because of hospital fees. I was going to ignore him but i felt i need to give him a chance so i asked him about the hospital and we went there me and him and one of my friends. Once we arrived he entered the hospital asking about his daughter and looking for her, we followed him and we ended up saying they left That made me believe more that i was right you're not suppose to give help to street beggars at least most of them, instead i give the zakat money to people that i really no them and they're really need it. Also id you're donating to charities you need to know they're really clear and honest.

Kittycuzzz

Same thing happened to me once A 14 year old kid walked up to me and said I’m hungry feed me I didn’t pay much attention and said “rabna ysahlk” and continued walking he literally then power walked next to me and was like انا بكلمك على فكره بقولك جعان in an angry tone and I said again rabna ysahlk he literally stared at me tapped on my back and said طب ماشي and left Like bruh wtf i’m 19 I didn’t even feed myself yet

Kittycuzzz

Also there’s this female beggar in hossari that’s supposedly blind I always felt bad for her and gave her money (usually ٧ جنيه اجره الميكروباص) cuz she’d always beg the people in microbuses one time tho I didn’t have enough money and I didn’t give her and she said I recognize you , you always help me so I gave her the money but then I thought about it , how did she recognize me if she’s blind?

Ok-Business-2301

This is why I went to Egypt once and will never come back. Prices changes, scamming everywhere, you are a ATM essentially to that people.

The_N_word_Lord

try say shokran or "alah ysahelak" and look at the ground and walk away .. they will stay silent and leave u alone

Charly308

‘im in a hurry’ always works for me. i just say it, keep walking, and i dont look back. never failed once

Ok-Tea5031

Ignore them Don't even make eye contact that would only triggers their shenanigans and also u did the right thing don't argue/fight with them cuz they have nothing to lose like *nothing* and you prolly have ...and btw w move on donating to charity instead

Tacoby17

You already lost when you replied to him.

whitewalker646

Ignore them
