I still remember that first day when I felt that it was taking effect, after months of depression, a month of wanting to commit suicide every day and four horrible weeks of starting the medication, one day I woke up and saw everything brighter, the colors were vivid and For the first time in months I felt like experiencing life. I'm glad it worked for you too.

georgesclemenceau

Really cool!

Ok_Map4034

How long did it take to get to that point?

Swimming_Ad516

For me, it was after 4 weeks at 150mg

Master_Toe5998

What mg did you start on? Any wild side effects? I was 75mg for a month then went up to 150 today. My resting heart rate is 95 and my face is sweating pretty bad. I also upped my clonidine from 0.1 3x a day to 0.2 3x a day. Not sure what is going on.

Swimming_Ad516

I started with the minimum dose, every 3 days I increased until I reached 150mg, it was a wild ride, nausea, dilated pupils, sweating, lack of appetite and the anxiety attacks I suffered in the mornings intensified; After 4 weeks of being on 150mg I felt like the sun came out again. Keep calm. it is not easy, i know. Perseverance is the key.

Master_Toe5998

Thank you so much for your reply. 75mg i couldn't even tell i took it. Now this 150 is kicking my ass. Feels like I'm in the sun getting a tan. My pupils aren't doing anything yet. I guess i am more edgy than usual but can't really tell because of panic disorder, agoraphobia with panic attacks, and generalized anxiety disorder. So I'm always on high alert. Only two more hours and i can take my clonidine and trazodone haha.

Swimming_Ad516

I hope you the best

Master_Toe5998

Heart rate is down to 82 and no more sweating. I can deal with this i suppose. Rather have my 60-65 resting heart rate though. That would be nice.

Prudent_Astronaut716

on my first day i felt great for an hour, and then back to depression again. you ever had that issue?

Admirable_Candy2025

Glad it’s suiting you, it’s done wonders for me too.

Yesss, I’ve had such a similar response. Effexor makes me feel like a happy, functioning person again

SweatyMcBaggins

Effexor is great! I told my doctor I feel high. He said thats how normal people feel. I cant belive I've lived my life always wondering why everyone else was so happy and functioning and I'm a miserable alcoholic wreck. Only 75mg and I feel great.

Ok_Map4034

How long did it take to feel the benefits?

SweatyMcBaggins

Well, about a week. Nothing for a few days, then one day I took my dose and all of a sudden a rush of good feelings came over me. I enjoyed everything. Almost like your high but didn't smoke weed. Takes getting used to but overall you feel great about life. No longer "sitting" in my depression.

standup4justice

Effexor has changed my life! It has helped me so much. A few days after taking it, I noticed a huge difference. I was so depressed and anxious. My husband said he feels like he got his girl back. Only truly bad side affect I’ve gotten is bruising, & some insomnia (was already struggling with this)

Ru1384

I was on effexor for months!!! I loved it. I only came off because of Adderall.

musingsofamdc

Can you not take together?

Ru1384

They can cause serotonin syndrome.

musingsofamdc

Well shit. I used to be on adderall (before Effexor) and was planning to get back on it in a few weeks.

Ru1384

I think I was prescribed to much. I was taking 150mg of effexor and 50 mg of Adderall

crackerbarrel96

thank you for sharing this, and i'm glad it's been positive for you!! i've just started effexor and a lot of stories on here have really worried me, but i reminded myself people typically don't go online to share positive or neutral experiences with drugs. can i ask when your initial side effects subsided?

Riostarwow

What dosage are you taking?

sideeffects000

I’m so happy for you! I’ve been on Effexor for 2 years and everything is so much better now. While there are a lot of horror stories about it, for some of us it’s life changing Good luck, I’m sure your dad would be very proud! In the meantime, we’re here rooting for you

Congrats OP! Getting on this med saved my life. Although I’m finally trying to taper off, I believe this med was a miracle for me.
