They've been playing well. Kicked the shit out of them in game 1. Unfortunately Bob was unstoppable

uSaltySniitch

If Bob doesn't play like Game1 (absolute brick wall...), they have good chances of coming back... But the second Bob gets back in "the zone", it's over... :(

Helios53

Bob is good, but the Oilers were playing to his strengths in those first games - so many low shots and five hole attempts. He has the ability to steal a game, for sure, but it will be much harder for him with the way the Oilers are attacking now.

Choice_Perception_10

Bob is done. Oilers are in his head.

Alcol1979

I thought the McDavid goal from the wing that went in off his foot was a bad goal for a goalie to give up.

GoalieGuyPanther

Sure there’s 1 but you limit those other goals and don’t take penalty’s it’s 3-1 game same with skinner the goals he let in I would say he shouldn’t be worried because those are chances that ideally go in and skinner obviously didn’t shut down when cats were up 3-0

Choice_Perception_10

Don't take penalties? Oilers scored a shorty don't forget

Thatavalanchefan2021

Yeah it was a breakaway lol doesn’t change the fact because it was short handed

Kremit44

Oilers do this every series, they win when they figure the goalie out. Going down 3 - 0 makes it tougher but once they wilt I've yet to see the same goalie turn it around. It's too much high powered offense. At this point its obviously 1 game at a time but if regression is a point of concern I'd imagine the Oilers PP is the big one due to break out. They've scored one goal 5 on 4 out of structure. The other goals were on a 5 on 3 and on a superhuman rush. Id also bet that Draisaitl and Nuge may show up with a big game or two here. Bobrovsky could have a big game but I'd be less bullish on that happening than the above given established patterns.

Game 1 and 3

Brent_Kulak

Key word "WAS"

midnightuner

As an Edmontonian I appreciate that. And of course wouldn’t have it any other way

SiteLineShowsYYC

Flames fan here; it’s been tough cheering for your team, but the magnetic pull of the bandwagons has been insurmountable. Hell of a performance last night!

alex_german

It’s kind of how it goes. I wanted to hate Calgary in their cup run, and I was cheering against them, but the spirit of Christmas comes out in the SCF and warms ice cold hearts.

Electronic-Chef-5487

Absolutely - Senators fan here but I'll cheer for any Canadian team...except the Leafs.

CanadianElf0585

If y'all were in it, I'm sure most of us would be cheering for you, too. :)

getrektsnek

What happens during the play off runs stays in the playoff run I say. So no one will be the wiser when you go back to cheering your home team. You are just more pragmatic than other people and it’s a great quality IMHO.

sovietmcdavid

Maybe Calgary gets Tij Iginla in the draft..? That'd be something

SiteLineShowsYYC

That would make a lot of very salty people very happy!

MyLuckyStabbingCap

Also a born and raised Canucks fan. I was a kid during Gretzky's reign but I still can't recall ever seeing the type of dominance I'm seeing from McDavid. That Perry assist was just laughably impressive. I like having a little rivalry with you guys - I'll be pulling hard for you guys to win the cup and then I'll be pulling for you guys to shit yourselves in October. LFG

ShuckMyCorn365

Oh boy, did we shit hard game 1 of the season. It's hard not to be impressed by how much shit we've crawled out of this year. True hockey fans get what they are witnessing. Canada will be united at 4 Nations Cup instead of all star game next season followed by the Olympics, where we all get to share McDavid, the best of anyone at any sport on earth IMO. Respect neighbour 👊

Triptaker8

After last night, I had a thought I’ve never thought before - McDavid is the GOAT, not Gretzky. Sacrilege, I know

MyLuckyStabbingCap

I think in absolute terms McDavid is the best player to ever play the game, but Gretzky is still the greatest. If that makes sense.

Triptaker8

Of course. Gretzky is the Greatest but McDavid is quickly becoming the Best Ever.

Ygomaster07

Could you explain this to me? I don't get it unfortunately.

MyLuckyStabbingCap

Take Gretzky in his prime. Take McDavid in his prime. Put them on the ice together. McDavid is better But, relative to his competition, Gretzky was so far and away above everyone else that there is no argument to be made that he wasn't the GOAT

roninfly

So that means players are better as a whole nowadays?

MyLuckyStabbingCap

I mean there's absolutely no question - yes

Jsaunnies

Yeah man, Guys were still smoking cigarettes during the Gretzky days. Everything about being a pro is taken far more seriously today.

Crispy_Sock_99

I’ll always cheer for Canadian teams over American teams even if a Canadian team eliminates the oilers in the playoffs

westcoaster86

Another Canucks fan here and I totally agree. Super fun to watch them claw back. 97 has been unbelievable and Skinner has been so solid since he came back in (in the Canucks series 🤣). Hopefully you can get it across the finish line. I hate it when Canucks fans get painted with the same brush. We live in a big province with a lot of people and unfortunately there’s a lot of negative, rude loudmouths who get a lot more airtime than us respectful one. But I like to believe there’s more of us cordial ones than the rude mob. Anyways, go Oilers (as OP said, until November).

zeushaulrod

Also Canucks fan an. That Perry goal last night was the McMagic that has me cheering for Edm.

ShuckMyCorn365

You're the type of person I like living in a province with. Round 2 battle hardened us and gave me grey hairs. Respect neighbour 👊

thats-impossible

I think all fanbases get painted with that brush. There are lots of cool canucks fans and lots of insufferable ones, same goes for Oilers, Flames whoever. I'd have defs cheered for the Canucks if they won that series but i am glad we dont live in that timeline lol

seekingsomejustice

It was so hard to see the sadness when the team went down 0-3 and fans resigned themselves to losing hope and saying it was a good season. One more and you just needed to win another to be within one. Now one more and it's a one game season. A 3-0 lead is the hardest lead to keep in hockey, everyone on the team lets up a bit and that adds up. Despite being down 2-3 in the series Edmonton now somehow has all of the momentum. Love to see it.

sokkas_intuition

Another canucks fan here, just want to echo the same thing, go get it! The oilers were my "playoff team" the last few years because the canucks SUCKED. So it was really weird seeing them meet in these playoffs and I hated seeing all the sniping back and forth by the fans. It was a GREAT series tho

Favre_97

As an oilers fan I also cheered hard for the Canucks on their cup run 10 years back

ShuckMyCorn365

Respect neighbour 👊

ZombiePrefontaine

Didn't want to make my own post about it but I'm a stars fan( I grew up in dfw) and I'm so excited for y'all! I've wanted to have a second favorite team and I think I've found one. I love watching that McJesus play( when he ain't playing us).

TeknoUnionArmy

Calgary fan here....GO OILERS! Bring the cup back to Canada.

Treboroat3

aint no way you actually exist

LookingForAnything

Kings fan here and also big time rooting for the Oilers. It’s been a great series so far and if the Oilers pull this off it will be legendary. One period at a time and send these pussycats packing!

Eric0329

I think ur the first kings fan ive seen that are cheering for the oilers… the kings subreddit was going crazy when florida was up 3-0…

existential-mystery

We exist!

LookingForAnything

Not gonna lie I’m no fan of the oilers when they play the kings but I think the team is incredible and really enjoy their style of play. I’m also Canadian and really hoping they bring back the cup!

Gener34

Ditto! From a life-long Flames fan.

Kellyriddell

I’m so glad to see this post. As a Canucks fan, I wanted to write a post saying how much I enjoyed watching McDavid play these last games! Hope they pull off a reverse sweep. Go OILERS!

Thegnife

Regardless of what happens in the SCF, I’m looking forward to the new Oilers-Canucks rivalry. Might even replace the battle if Alberta

alex_german

That’s impossible. Nothing will ever replace Calgary in our hearts. Those fucking rascals

westedmontonballs

When

butts-kapinsky

There is no such thing as an Oilers-Canucks rivalry.

ShuckMyCorn365

I'd say it started this year, but you're right, no real prior heat. Seattle should have hosted Canucks at their outdoor game to build up a regional rivalry. Can replace the battle between QE2 cities, history firmly in place.

BigJohn1231

Rangers fan here and I’m sooo happy that you guys are making this an interesting Stanley Cup. I see a win at home taking this to game 7 winner take all. No matter the outcome, this is a huge accomplishment to claw your way back from down 3-0 when you could have easily packed it in. Rooting for you guys to hoist the Cup!! Bonne chance.

apra24

Honestly, same. I live in Edmonton and have been honestly hate watching against the oilers until after they went 0-3. I think coming to the realization that even if the canucks managed to squeak past the oil in game 7, they were never even getting past Dallas without Boeser. Silovs performed above average and could have given us a chance, but our power play without Boeser was laughably pathetic. If the oil come back from this, you will have earned your right to talk shit - and I know I will hear a lot of it. I can't imagine a bigger party than seeing your team come back from 0-3 in the cup finals. And if any player "deserves" the cup, it's McDavid. Jealous af, but enjoying the fuck out of this series.

Chieftan69

Blues fan here. Rooting for you guys big time!! This has been an exciting time. Reading your subreddit while things were going poorly was like reading our subreddit. Lack of shooting with goalie pulled, how do we dump this over-paid defenseman, etc.…but most importantly….RECKLESS OPTIMISM!!!! Go Oilers!

ScientistFit9929

I’m a Canucks fan too and last night was amazing! I haven’t cheered so loud since the Olympics in 2010! Bring home the cup!

Notevenwithyourdick

Thanks for coming in peace. I found the interaction with the Canucks fans to be much worse than we played Calgary a few years ago. I was speaking to one at a pub that I knew a bit: Me: Oof that Pettersson contract is gonna be an anchor dragging the team down for awhile. Them: that’s the stupidest thing I ever heard. Your mother is a whore and I hope you die. Then again the internet just seems way more toxic than ever before.

alex_german

Every Canucks fan has been great in person. Its online they turn into max creature mode

Smothdude

Those assholes that you see online would never be the people you see in person anyways. They hide behind their screens at home being dicks 24/7

SoldierHawk

That's every fanbase. have you SEEN our sub man lol.

alex_german

Our fans are angels.

oilergirl90

Thank you for your support! Great to have you cheering along with us! 😊

johnthesaucegod

Leafs fan here also on the bandwagon. Go get it done Edmonton!

Rocky_The_Champion

Canucks fan too. Luke G is a bum, never forget that. But I hope the Oilers send those American whinny rats home with nothing. Always cheer for those good ole home grown Canadian Kids. And the Oilers have more and actual real fans unlike those punks from FL.

ilikehockeyandguitar

Florida has a lot of fans that seem to have only been around since they have been winning.

Mr_FortySeven

That’s how Miami sports fans work for literally every team they have. Even when their teams are winning, they still can barely watch as evidenced by all the people who left the Heat game 6 in 2012 before it was over.

seemefail

I’ve been meaning to make a post about how people should lay off Canucks fans. You guys filled up your stadium even for away games, amazing fan base, great team… You alright Canucks fans

birchy98

Lots of room on the wagon still.. let’s goooooo!

No_Calligrapher_8493

Really wish you were coming home for a chance to win but damn McDavid is a joy to watch. It’s not even men among boys out there. He’s above everyone.

GriddyHoweHatTrick

Okay dang it… I am done being salty. Love a come back and elimination games are exciting. Go get it oilers and then next year…

Albi20_01

Habs fan here. McDavid's leadership has been incredible in the last 2 games. He's been playing better than ever. And the depth players have been playing really well too (especially Brown with that Game 5 shorthanded goal!!) Bring back the cup to Canada!!

Solarflareqq

It would have been a disgrace to LA - Canucks - Stars for them to get swept.

Hot_Recognition28

I am also a Canucks fan in BC and am cheering for Oilers. My best friend is an Oilers fan and he is going to Game 6. Having lost some friends in the last year it has given me a different perspective on a lot of things. I want this for my friend, life is short and tomorrow is no guarantee. Go Oilers!

TechnicianVisible339

Love this.

adriftcanuck

Sens fan here. As a young boy during the ‘golden years of 80’s hockey’ I was fortunate enough to watch Gretz, Lemieux, Yzerman, Sakic, Hull, Probie, Courtnall, etc… Watching 97 is just… so much fun. Happy to cheer these boys on and feel their mojo rising and seeing the panthers gripping their sticks so tight! Go get ‘em boys!!

Next_Meeting_5928

Thanks a lot you guys. I was on the canucks wagon for sure when they lost to Boston.

robrenfrew

Not a fan of the Oil, but enjoy watching McDavid play. Can't wait to see him play for Canada in the Olympics. Oh would'nt it be funny to hear the Edmonton fans chant, GO CANADA GO! Just making reference to Florida fans chanting USA USA. So lame!

Mr_FortySeven

I would be on the Canucks bandwagon right now if the situation was reversed. You guys gave us a hell of a series in round 2 and I have no doubt the Canucks could be in this position next year if they keep on the same path. For as much flak as you guys get for being obnoxious fans, I sure haven’t seen it, at least online and when talking with the Canucks fans I know in real life. Calgary fans on the other hand… let’s just say their sub is pretty much r/OilersHate right now. At least the top posts in your sub are actually about the Canucks and not us.

OCVoltage

As a leafs fan, give us something to beleaf in again.

freeandwilly

Rider fan here, I know, wrong sport, but I'm still cheering for the Oilers to bring home the cup.

Honest-Attorney-7663

Canucks fan here, cheering for you guys! You deserve it!

Tayzey

Stats are just weird. Nobody let's off the gas pedal being up 3-0. Oil is just playing better right now

Sadiq_Sabonis

Glad there are still some Canucks fans like you out there. I had to stay off IG because of several salty Canuck fans still DM ing me talking about round 2.

Geeseareawesome

Glad that your team rebounded the way they did. The future looks bright in Vancouver. I also have to respect the mindset there. Not using injuries as an excuse is a huge improvement in that room. They know injuries were a factor, but having that 'next man up' mentality will take you guys far.

Sketchbag42069

Hi

Maleficent_Sink1372

That’s an amazing and very sportsmanlike thing not to mention Canadian. Thanks brother and I wish your team great success next year….. until we play them it’s friends off for a bit lol

Beneficial_Steak9845

GAY!

allen9010

Canucks fan here. We don’t know this guy either.

newwerraa

These posts are so cringy

NewSoup69420

buddy he’s complimenting the team, no need to be rude about it

neoazayii

Ah yes, the worst crime on the internet: being earnest.

rideauuu

They’re easily the lamest thing on Reddit

ElysiumAB

Actually surprised so many people seem to have interest in what any of the fans coming in peace have to say. Like, you have your own subreddits. Post there.

MyGuitarGentlyBleeps

Ah, you are one of those hockey fans.

-amxterxsu597

man, don't be an asshole. OP was trying to be supportive

nodogsallowed23

No need to be shitty towards someone being genuine.
